I saw a twitter thread that was giving reasons for Nancy Wheeler being a lesbian and I gotta say, I agree. At least that Nancy is NOT straight. The way she interacts with Barb….dude, do you know how many of the stairs conversations (from season one before Barb disappears) I’ve had with friends who were secretly seeing me??? The whole “this isn’t you” after Nancy lies about where she’s going and the way she reacts with her facial expressions…..bro, they’ve kissed before. This has been said a million times here and otherwise since season one.

But with the level of grief and guilt she goes through in season two, I’m seeing that right now in myself as someone who just had one of their best friends pass away suddenly who was also an ex. The whole “bullshit” Stancy Halloween fight could be chalked up to grief and liking Jonathan sure, but I think it’s way more than that. I think she’s calling everything bullshit including herself because she lost the one person who saw her, someone she loved more than just platonically.

Then season three is mostly just her fighting with Jonathan if you really think about it, because she wants to be more than just a sandwich girl at Hawkins Post. Someone Barb would be proud of. We only see her really happy with Jonathan in season three when they wake up late and she sneaks out and the soft moment they have at the end when he’s leaving. Other than that they’re either fighting with each other or fighting monsters. Robin calls her a “priss,” but before Steve she was just kind of a…nerd. Like Robin. Maybe they ran in the same circles? We know they don’t know each other in person, at least Nancy doesn’t know HER.

FOLLOW ME HERE: What if Robin knew Barb?? What if Barb confided in her that she had feelings for Nancy, but that Nancy was dating Steve and we know how hard Robin goes for her friends so she just made this assumption that Nancy is a priss????

Then season four of course, we see Nancy not going to California. She’s frustrated that Jonathan wouldn’t be coming and she stayed for the basketball game for her front page news right?? Why didn’t she take another flight hmmm??? And we think she’s jealous of Robin, but what if she was jealous of Steve??? Because we don’t really have indication that Steve and Nancy have spent much time around each other since summer ‘85…but Robin and Nancy go to school together. Robin is in band which means they’re in the same room *hypothetically* for the important games that Nancy needs to document. We don’t know how many games Steve went to besides the one, he could’ve been working on some of those games or on dates. So ipso facto, Robin and Nancy have (probably) been in the same room more than Steve and Nancy….why would she suddenly be jealous of ROBIN???

And you can see her genuinely enjoying being around Robin after her monologue at the psych ward when she was being “annoyed” and “on edge” with her before that. I don’t see that as “oh well she started considering her a friend” I think she had a crush, she was on edge because she had lost Barb and didn’t want to feel that way about another girl. But the monologue relaxes her because she realized Robin is just as unhinged as she is, but in a different way. Because Nancy Wheeler is IMPULSIVE. She’s smarter than hell, but she is so careless with her own safety.

Also every time the Bylers shippers contrast the Wheeler siblings really they’re just giving us Nancy Wheeler is gay proof too. Because look at their similar behaviors. They fight and bicker in a way that says “i know what you are, NO I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE”

NOT VERY STRAIGHT IF YOU ASK ME.

Also, while I now understand my attraction to men is because I was a queer trans dude the entire time, I used to think it was comphet. But everything I feel about men is different than the way Nancy feels about men. It feels forced, it feels like she thinks she HAS to have a boyfriend and HAS to force a real connection with them. COMP. MOTHERFUCKIN. HET.

In conclusion, for the love of god, let Nancy Wheeler kiss girls. Natalia wants it, the fans want it. Give us a SMOOCH.

Just had the revelation that if Barb hadn’t been taken in season 1, then Steve would have gone missing.

Think about it. If he hadn’t invited Nancy, and by association Barb, then he would have been left alone with Tommy and Carol, who definitely would have snuck off together and left him outside alone as a prime target for the demogorgon. If he hadn’t had anyone over at all that night, then he would have been home alone while the demogorgon was hunting in his backyard, which he still wouldn’t have been able to get away from.

Moral of the story: if Barb hadn’t gone missing in season one then it would have been Steve.

I ship so many ships, but not in a poly way, in a "if there was a different time frame au" way. Like I ship Steddie, stonathan, and Jargyle. Not all at the same time, but all in the same au.

I mean this post is about the spicy six, it's the spicy six, they're all gay and they basically all dated each other at one point.

Steve knew he was bi when he was thirteen. He knew instantly that he liked boys and girls because he'd get crushes on both genders. Jonathan knew he was pan when he was eleven. He used to collect magazines from the trash and have a collection of them, he would look at the boys and girls on the paper.

In middle school, I headcanon Steve and Jonathan actually were friends with each other. They knew each other from photography club. And they used to have playdates all the time. And when Steve was fourteen and Jonathan was twelve, the younger one told him about him being queer. And Steve got scared because what if Jonathan finds out? So, he shoved Jonathan away and ran.

In high school, Steve dated Nancy, who had a crush on Barb and Jonathan. When Jonathan was dating Nancy, he realized he didn't like her. And when he was in Lenora, he wanted to kiss Argyle the whole time they were friends. And he did.

And when Eddie called Steve 'big boy', that awakened something in him. And when he threatened him with the glass. Steve realized that he had a new crush. And it had to be on Eddie "the freak" Munson. And when Eddie came back as a vampire, Steve told him the truth about his feelings. And obviously Eddie, who had been crushing on him for years, liked him back.

Nancy wasn't upset that both of her exes were dating men. She herself, was dating a woman. Robin, Steve's best friend, cought her eye when they were fighting against Vecna together.

You see what I mean, though? I ship so many ships, but not all at the same time. Like, I also ship Lucas and Max, and Max and El. But not at the same time. Or at the same time. Poly Max is amazing.

It’s not really a fic but more of a concept or a blurb so it’s a little all over the place.

Reader who’s known about the upside down since the night barb vanished because that same night you’re shaken awake by a very confused barb who starts talking about this strange world and a monster that had gotten her.

You’re more preoccupied with the fact that a girl you shared one class with last year is in your room. You end up shooing barb out of the room assuming she’d gone to a party and gotten a little to drunk. She was nice enough and you didn’t want trouble for her. The next day comes and she’s gone, and the day after and the day after that. It quickly becomes common knowledge that barb has gone missing. You’d try and tell them she’d showed up at your house but were quickly dismissed as a kid who wanted attention, after all she was across town and wasn’t the type of girl to drink.

Reader who’s studying for finals, it was your senior year and you’d been holed up for the last week fighting to keep your gpa up so you’d get into a good college when a middle aged man with a kind face is pointing to the paper telling you that you’d gotten the value of x wrong and how you should do the problem. You were frozen in fear until barb appeared on your other side and introduced him, You don’t have to ask if he’s dead, not if he’s here and can see Barb.

You can feel chills crawling up your neck and this time you’re prepared. You’d taken a job at a local bakery and were working a late shift to get the cupcakes ready for a bridal shower and at the ripe old age of 18 you question if your mind truly is going, it must be since Billy Hargrove is standing next to you as you pipe frosting onto the cupcakes. He simply says “so this is it, huh?” You’d more or less run in the same circles so while he didn’t know you personally he knew of you. You keep frosting and nod your head with a murmured ‘guess so’

You won’t ask him what happened, knowing he’d tell you on his own time. They always did, whether you wanted to know or not.

You’d never wanted to get involved, you already had a constant stream of people popping up wherever you went and heard stories that haunted your dreams, but when Billy asks you to check on max because she’s acting strange you somehow find yourself unable to say no and experiencing everything first hand.

An off handed comment when they’re explaining everything to Eddie leads to a rapid fire questioning that leaves Nancy in tears knowing barb had been around. You tell the truth, you’d been to afraid to try and find out the truth of what was going on, and who would you have told anyway, they would have thrown you in an asylum.

It’s the first time you had to watch one of the people who haunted you die. As you kneel next to Dustin and watch Eddie take his last breath you’re relieved when a chill crawls up your spine and you meet his melancholic smile with a relieved one of your own. Dustin will ask if Eddie is there and when you say yes he’ll curse him out until his tears had eased and he’ll tell Eddie how brave he was and thank him.
