Béla Czene (1911-1999) Hungarian
"Nude of the Amalfi Coast" 1980
Czene entered the history of art as a realist and figurative painter, who immortalized his models with dazzling sophistication.
His painting style is connected to the classical tradition of the Renaissance, the art of Leonardo da Vinci and Domenico Ghirlandaio, and the Greco-Roman traditions.
In the center of Czene's composition we see a naked female figure kneeling on a ledge, behind her is the rocky view of the picturesque Amalfi Coast stretching south of Naples, on the steep shore a typical Mediterranean scene.
He highlights the essential elements of reality in his painting, and then painted his model with a concise plastic aspiration and a healthy sense of form.
