Of fucking course Pokemon makes a Pokemon Z right after Bird Keeper Toby, the biggest supporter of a Pokemon Z game, retires from YouTube.
You can't make this up.

I had a stupid idea stuck in my head and I finally unleashed it.
It’s a joke that’s basically a niche within a niche: Skits about off-brands about Pokémon only it’s about Pokémon YouTubers.
It’s basically a comedy skit with an audience of no one except maybe me. But I enjoyed making it and hopefully you do. If nothing else you get to see me make dumb faces and do goofy reaction bits.
Also it’s my first time ever making an incredibly stupid “YouTube clickbait” style thumbnail that I put together in like an hour.
As I made that thumbnail all I could think about was how stupid that thumbnail style was and wondering how on earth people can live with themselves making these thumbnails because they’re so incredibly stupid. Like, how do you not just laugh and give up ever time you make one? They’re so dumb.

Hey, so I saw your post above Gallade facts and I'm curious. What kind of Pokemon do the Gallade/Gardevoir evolution line that's closely related? Are Gallades related to Bisharp and or Gardevoirs related to Hatterene?
(Oh my God I've been wanting to talk about the evolution tree for so long, thank you for asking this)
Pokemon Related to the Gardevoir Line
1. Bisharp
Tumblr media
Bisharp are more related to gallades than they are gardevoir. They both have sword-like appendages on their elbows, live in similar habitats, and were both bred for fighting. Unlike gallade though, the metalic feeling spread to their entire body instead of just their head (this includes King Gambit btw, I just chose bisharp because it's more well known).
2. Hatterene
Tumblr media
Hatterene and gardevoir share many similarities. They're both psychic/fairy type, have both dress and hair-like extensions, both are feminine looking. But I think the reason hatterene behaves so differently form gardevoir (more violent prone, will kill if too noisy, prefers to be left alone) is that an ancient form of gardevoir had to defend against something, and evolution did its thing, making them an all new species adapted for that situation.
3. Ceruledge & Armarougue
Tumblr media
These pokemon look so much like gallade that's it's very obvious. When I first saw one, I legit thought it was a regional form until I talked to their trainers.
4. Gothitelle
Tumblr media
Gothitelle and gardevoir are also incredibly similar. They both share the psychic typing, they both can see the future, they both have a stargazing theme (gothitelle more than gardevoir), similar body shapes, and are both feminine looking.
Instead of sharing a common ancestor, I think that gothitelle might've evolved from gardevoirs. But they were probably heavily bred by humans, as the whole goth theme and following what would appeal to humans.

can you tell us a little about the galarian legendary birds?
Of course!
The Legendary Birds of Galar
Tumblr media
(Art by JsnCstr on Deviantart)
The legendary birds of Galar are the Galarian forms of Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. They've confused a lot of researchers and historians for a while. After all, there's only one of these legendaries in each universe, right? Well, here is my theory on them.
I think that these birds might've been the original legendary birds. Zapdos got its name because the feathers, when rubbed together, sound like electricity, Articuno got its name because the beams they fire immobilizes opponents, and Moltres got its name because the aura that's around it is like molten fire. It can't just be a coincidence. Furthermore, many archeological evidence shows that the Galar legendary birds originated (from can't think of pokemon name for european) regions. And with the whole phenomenon in Paldea, I wouldn't be surprised if these pokemon were somehow ancient forms of the legendaries, with their origins and the Crown Tundra being a place where time was forgotten. But, these pokemon didn't come from Galar either; they just migrate there for the power tree. I think that they originally came from Paldea, since Uno, Dos, and Tres are Paldean, and there are bird pokemon with the Psychic, dark, and fighting type (Espathara, Bombirdier, and Flamigo).
However, a researcher named Bird Keeper Toby had a cool theory on them. He says that Bombirdier and Flamigo didn't become them, but rather Espathra, Skeledirge, and the third one I don't remember. Skeledirge is an interesting choice to me because there is actually the Paldean legend of the Cuca, who is a Skeledirge lady with the bird on her snout (like every Skeledirge has). But when she dies, the bird on her snout is able to grow. Perhaps this legend is true, and the little bird became Moltres.
I apologize if this is rambly. I was just very excited to share my theories on them and how they connect to the rest of the world.

#143 Snorlax
Most people know the original Snorlax was partly inspired by Game Freak programmer Kōji Nishino. Well, we don't know Nishino personally, so instead we decided to take inspiration from a different colleague: Bird Keeper Toby.
Toby is a fan of Snorlax, is the leader of Team Snooze, and is also known to sleep just about anywhere—just have a look at the Bird Sleeper Toby instagram!
So we took that into our redesign—plus a hint of Totoro. Snorlax's body shape is chest patterns are based on the onesies that Team Snooze is known to wear. The hair is inspired by Toby's and bed head. It even has a neck pillow to help it sleep anywhere!

My Zelda Timeline
My Zelda timeline inspired by lorulean historian, Brian David Gilbert, and Bird Keeper Toby: Includes fan creations:
keep in mind not everyone may agree on this timeline. This isn’t to discredit anyone else’s personal timeline it is simply the way I see the games as fitting together:
Majora’s Mask prequel manga
Minish cap and split:
Timeline 1: Minish cap bad ending: Zelda is turned to stone and Vaati briefly rampages but Link seals Vaati in the four sword leading to the rest of the four swords trilogy.
Four Swords
Four Swords Bonus Manga Stories
Four Swords Adventures
Timeline 1A: link to the past and other classic Zelda games: A branch off from the four swords trilogy in which Ganon tries to steal the triforce and gets sealed in the sacred realm.
A link to the past
Nintendo Land: Zelda Battle Quest
Oracle of ages and seasons
Ancient Stone Tablets and Link’s awakening
The Time Break and BS The Legend Of Zelda: Link goes into the multiverse after being stranded in the Mario universe, whilst he is gone the events of BS The Legend Of Zelda happen in which a different set of protagonists battle Ganon since link is absent:
Super Mario RPG
Donkey Kong Country 3
Captain Rainbow
Super Mario Maker
Super Mario Maker 2
Mario Kart 8
Soulcalibur II
Sonic Lost World Legend Of Zelda Zone
Scribblenauts Unlimited
End of time break: Link returns to his own universe:
Oath of Riruto
A link between worlds
Tri force heroes
Zelda’s Adventure
End
Timeline 1B: CDI Shenanigans: Instead of going to the sacred realm Ganon goes directly for Hyrule leading to the original Zelda games and media.
Zelda Game watch
The legend of Zelda and the moblin’s magic spear book presumably takes place at some point during the original Zelda game.
The Faces of Evil
Zelda Game and Watch
The wand of Gamelon
Crystal Trap and Shadow Prince
Zelda Tv Show and Valiant Comics
Captain N
Zelda 2: Adventure of Link
Battle of Mirage Castle
End
Timeline 2: Minish Cap good ending: the regular ending of Minish Cap leading to the prospering of Hyrule and a different origin for Ganon.
Cadence Of Hyrule
The Skull Kid And The Mask manga story
Ocarina Of time
Rouru Of The Watarara Manga story
Link and the Portal of Doom
Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland
Tingle's balloon trip of love
Majora’s Mask
Link’s Crossbow Training
Twilight Princess
Wind Waker
Phantom Hourglass
Tingle’s Balloon Fight DS
Spirit Tracks
Timeline 2A: Terrako doesn’t go back in time resulting in the breaking of Demise’s curse and Hyrule prospering for eternity:
Breathe Of The Wild
Tears Of The Kingdom
Timeline 2C: Champions succeed: Terrako Travels back in time allowing the champions to succeed. However Ganon was meant to be destroyed for good to break the curse so unbeknownst to them they have doomed The Hero, Hylia, and Demise to reincarnate for eternity meaning there will never be true peace in Hyrule:
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
Hyrule Warriors
Hang ‘Em Hyrule a Zelda western fan Film
Modern Zelda Fan Film
Demise’s curse is never broken leading to Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf reincarnating for the rest of time.
Timeline 2D: Cadence doesn’t come to Hyrule:
Octavo’s Ode
Ganon’s Fury
Symphony Of The Mask
Ocarina Of Time
Wind Waker Arc (Hyrule Warriors)
Leads back to Phantom Hourglass in Timeline 2 and continues as normal from there
I haven’t been able to figure out where the hell Skyward Sword fits on the timeline though. It clearly can’t be first since the first timeline cannot logically include Skyward Sword as part of its backstory due to the fact that Zelda 2 gives a different origin story for the very first Princess Zelda. Unless the Zelda from Zelda 2 is the same as the one from Skyward Sword this would not work. It could go after Minish Cap but it would be hard to explain how the humans go from living on the ground to in the sky. The easy solution would be to say that the timeline was never unified in the first place.

Sumi Lore Professional Question One:
what's the game you've played that's affected you most? i feel like this'll be... inch resting :>
easy. Pokemon
played pokemon leafgreen when i was 5. instantly fell in love. my sister beat the main story cuz i was too young to understand battling, so i just did the post game. I sailed around the Sevii Islands and it was the coolest shit ever. It defined my definition of a good game forever.
Then my interests faded as i got into late elementary school. It was still cool, but not as big in my life. Me and my sister got Pokemon Black and it was definitely really cool (did revive my love a bit). but the post-game was kinda dry. we did everything extra that we could do without internet.
Then i got a phone in 6th grade. I was given the chance to listen to music whenever I wanted. But back then i didnt have a personality music taste, so i didn't know what to listen to. figured i'd try something random.
So, i opened up youtube and looked up Pokemon
i started by listening to the anime openings. sure they're cheesy but some of them are catchy. memorized all the words. then i branched out into the other songs from the show and eventually discovered a whole world of unknown pokemon lore. did you know that the japanese anime had full fucking albums of original songs for every season??? and they go hard too!
with this, i discovered youtubers. Truegreen7, Bird Keeper Toby, Woopsire, MandJTV, and so many more. This defined my middle school era. I had an art account on a different site and posted a lot of fanart. made a lot of online friends too. it was such a good feeling...
then my mom found out.
she was pissed at my art account for various reasons, and punished me severely. at that point i was so hurt about losing all my online friends that i couldn't bring myself to draw ever again. i ended middle school in a very messy headspace.
then highschool came arounf . still wasn't into it. felt like i didn't have the motivation to do much anymore. i reluctantly went to freshman orientation, and got to the club fair, where all the clubs advertise to the new students. and one club struck my attention:
Pokemon Club
for the first time in a long time, i was exited to do something. I embarrasingly hung around their booth way longer than i needed to. I stole like 6 of their fliers too. it finally felt like a place where i belonged. I attended (almost) every single meeting for my first two years of high school. i met my current best friends there. they were the ones to introduce me to ace attorney and yttd!!
one day, one of the presidents was telling me about how their PR was ditching all the meetings and never did their work. i offered to take over cuz i had experience making club advertisements. it went from simple posters to booth flyers to fundraiser ads. then she asked me if i was willing to design club merch. bear in mind, i rarely drew since the incident 3 years prior. but it was my job as PR so i faced my fears and did it. the merch was perfect, and everyone loved it.
the end of my 2nd year came the dreadful question: who would take over? the staff were all graduating and needed a new president.
they all chose me.... i was so excited (and nervous) but i was determined to do my best.
unfortunately, covid hit that very year. my entire 3rd year was online, and so was club. it went better than i expected. the president reached out to me and asked if i wanted to color for her webcomic. next thing i knew, i was drawing as much as i used to. she really helped me find that part of me again, and i'm so thankful. now i'm a college student majoring in graphic design and minoring in video game studies
and it was all because of pokemon

Hey, fellow autistic pokemon nerd! I don't know if you know, but there's this YouTuber named Bird Keeper Toby who's also really into pokemon biology and theoretical genetics. He even has a 'tree of life' poster showing how diff species might be connected. Hopps and Gnoggin does similar, really diving into the Pokemon's inspiration and background
I just saw your blog and thought you might be interested! (Sorry if you already know >.<)
Hello!
I do watch his stuff already, though my take on the Tree of Life deviates from his in fundamental ways, but I do find us agreeing on a lot (which makes sense, you give two taxonomy nerds the same set of data to work with, likely going to come to similar conclusions) and the differences root most commonly from the fact that he looks at final evolutions for placement, and I look at the entire evolutionary family and each stage having its own possible branching.
Ultimately though, Toby's stuff is great and well thought out, but he looks at the lore through the lens of the Pokemon universe, while I look at it through the lens of our world and how everything would fit into our world IRL. 🧐 And I have creative freedom to put "this is a misnomer/myth/no it don't" labels on anything that's too farfetched or doesn't add up even under the lens of magic, whimsy, and suspended disbelief

Pokemon Head-Canon Rant at 1:30 in the Morning
So I take the ‘night-shift/graveyard-shift’ when it comes to looking after a disabled family member [american health care sucks enough that untrained mid-twenty year olds have to look after people that could end up needing help at literally any time]. This means I’m wide awake at this hour of 1:30 in the morning and not going to sleep any time soon. I’m gonna rant about my head-canons about Pokemon.
Keep in mind:: I mostly know the games, I stopped watching the anime at some point and am not familiar enough with the manga to feel comfortable theorizing/head-canoning it beyond adding some notes about it to my game-verse based thoughts
This is important because as far as I can tell the games, anime, and manga all have distinct ‘universes’. This can be viewed like how marvel has the movie verse, which is separate from the comic verse, which is separate from the other comic verse, and oh did you know they have a canonical zombie-verse? [idk if that’s actually the case, but you get the point. Marvel has many verses]
This means that if I have a head-canon for the games [as these are focused on] I would rather someone not slam it shut with a “BUT ASH KETCHUM!!!!” or whatever. There are points where the games and anime explicitly contradict each other, not just in Pokemon but in other fandoms I enjoy and I’d like to normalize the idea that different mediums for the stories are different universes unless there is sufficient reason to believe them to be a shifted perspective of the same story.
Side Note: terms/etc will be explained at will, if you are an avid Pokemon fan this can feel overly explained where as someone who only knows Pikachu [if even that] will likely be lost pretty much immediately [might already be]. I’m not going to worry about whether a hypothetical audience is sitting there either going “well DUH! This is like Pokemon 101, if even!!” or “I- wait wha- are you even speaking english????”
Anyway. On with my rambling~
First and foremost, the base of most of my head-canons:: Pokemon are roughly 50% pure energy. This [to me] explains why Pokemon can seemingly break the laws of physics via a sudden explosion of energy turning them into bigger forms [evolution, which is basically magical metamorphoses], how pokeballs work [we’ll get there], and a head-canon me and my sister developed regarding the in-game breeding system [again, we’ll get there]. This energy is in-universe referred to as aura [in regards to anything involving Lucario], infinity energy [ORAS], and likely in other ways as well. I will refer to this energy as magic for the most part since that is a good enough catch-all and quite honestly it is a magic system
The way i imagine types and their interplay works is essentially the natural flow of and affinities for magic. Some beings are naturally attuned to water magic, and thus they share many of its properties [being weak to ‘grass’ magic and electric magic, being strong against fire magic and ground magic] and will also make ‘spells’ [aka; attacks/moves] of that magic more efficient [shown via having STAB]. I like to imagine Pokemon in other worlds [via isekai events, which are now a canon option!] so that means i have to figure out how different magic systems work with pokemon types. I also watch theories by Lockstin [youtube person] so some of my understanding of types and such are heavily influenced by him and a few others [ex; Bird Keeper Toby]
I also go with the general idea that human terms are not absolute facts. Humans are fallible, so why should we take their word as the word of god on what a thing is supposed to be called? Case in point: “Grass type” is basically “plant based magic”. As such, if I define certain types in a way that conflict with the standard name and connotations of a name for things like the types, arguing against this to me would be like saying that I can’t say my favorite berry is banana or strawberry depending on your understanding of what a berry is [one is an actual berry, the other not so much but screw it]
{Break to grab a bowl of chips}
{And I’m back}
On: Attacks; Attacks, or spells for the non-pokefans, are things ranging from Water Gun [typically a water-type attack of 40 power and 100% accuracy, assumed mildly long-range/mid-range due to no contact] to Flamethrower [fire-type attack of 90 power and 100% accuracy, again no contact] to Tackle [normal-type attack of 40 power and 100^ accuracy, this one does make contact] to Heal Pulse [psychic-type attack that doesn’t do damage but instead heals the target and thankfully ignores accuracy checks completely]. I am under the impression that every attack has some level of magic involved. Yes, even the one that is literally just a tackle. This is in part because of the Mystery Dungeon spin-off series, where you can ‘bop’ the enemy, without using PP [power points, aka how many times you can use each of these spells] and do typeless damage. Typeless damage from this ‘bopping’ can deal damage to ghost types, which are immune to normal types and thus also tackle [I would need to double check but admittedly Mystery Dungeon probably does weird things with immunities]. This truly typeless trait is shared by one other attack [excluding weird glitch scenarios] by exactly one other “attack”: Struggle. How struggle works in the game is, once you have exhausted all PP, if you still try to attack you will automatically use Struggle, a typeless attack that does pitiful damage and has recoil. I interpret this recoil to be one of two possibilities: 1; you try pulling on magic that isn’t there and the process is fricking painful [like pulling a muscle or something] or 2; you are “casting from hit points”
Continued: Attacks; [Because giant walls of text scare me a bit] So every attack is a spell, so even if from an outsider’s perspective it looks like the Pokemon just punched you, they actually cast “Sucker Punch”~. Now on to game mechanics vs world building. It is weird to assume pokemon actually forget the attack they’ve been using for, what, fifty battles now? So I’m assuming in-universe it’s more in line with the system Legends: Arceus has [ie: the Pokemon never really forgets any of their attacks, but you can only have four attack slots filled at a time]. While the anime has a ‘softer magic system’, the games are more rigid. Thunderbolt is not just a stronger Thunder shock, they are distinct ‘spells’ that rely on different PP pools and have arguably different effects [more noticeable in the difference between Thunderbolt and Thunder, as the latter is basically a more powerful version with botched accuracy, except in the rain where Thunder bypasses accuracy]. If some one is going to ask why you can’t just use all the attacks in a fight, there are roughly 3 reasons. 1; Active Memory, imagine your memory is a card game, your long-term memory is your playing board, the discard pile and the deck are the same nebulous area, and your active memory is your hand. Your ‘hand’ in this card game can only hold up to five cards, each attack is at least half a card, arguably one card each, and you can only have a vague view of your board. Do you really want to risk letting your opponent take you out with an attack you shouldn’t have lost to simply because you had to shift through ten attacks when you could just stick to four or even two? 2; Atrophy, while this is all magic that doesn’t mean a thing can’t atrophy a bit. Ever have a moment where it takes you a while to remember how to solve a question that you know you figured out really quickly in school? The problem was that your mind atrophied a bit from the lack of focus on that topic. As such having a Pokemon have to keep more then four attacks at combat proficiency would be annoying at best and potentially mild [or even notable] torture at higher levels. 3; There could be a competition element to it. Official matches, such as against gym leaders and the championships, could require that you only use four distinct attacks [with reasonable leeway for some things]
On: Abilities; Due to the roughly 50/50 split in pokemon regarding their biological mass and their magical mass, this explains why some abilities are purely magical effects [various abilities that translate incoming attacks of certain types into an advantage like health regeneration or a stat boost] and some are ‘purely physical attributes’ [like poison point, basically the Poison Dart Frogs’ ability]. This also explains why there is a way to switch the abilities regardless of how magical or physical they are; they both rely on an innate magic of the species.
On: Breeding [Get Your Mind Out of the Gutter]; I have decided that there are two ways a Pokemon can breed, one magical and one physical. The physical method is how we would expect them to work, “when an Espeon and Umbreon love each other very much, they make a litter of Eevee”. The magical method is what we see in-game. Me and my sister also head-canon that the ‘egg’ is actually a magic incubation system, allowing them to be way more durable than actual eggs. Each method has their bonuses and their problems. Physical^ gives you potentially many offspring [look at all the Pokemon based off of things that have like half a dozen babies at a time, let alone hundreds], a ‘naturally developing’ mind and body. The problems come from the incubation period, where at best there are very fragile eggs the parent needs to guard [but could just as easily mean the parent in inhibited by what are functionally parasites], the ‘baby stage’ of development [which can take anywhere from possibly a day if i’m not mistaken to literal years], and the fact you can’t mix and match as much here. Magical^ gives you an offspring that is immediately combat ready [even if level one, that’s still better then “level 0″] and lets you mix a Skitty with a Wailord [I’m not even joking, they share an egg group], but has the problem that there is technically only ever one offspring here [I head-canon that twins can happen, they’re just rare], the offspring is likely locked in a simultaneously child-like and adult-like mentality [my head-canon, so they can understand what’s going on, how to follow orders, etc, without inexplicable wisdom], there’s also a detachment issue since the parent doesn’t need to raise the offspring much, if at all. Some species this isn’t an issue, but those are often the ones that live in small groups or that are loners for most of their lives. I also imagine the main reason that the trainers [ie; the players] only ever encounter the magical method is because when the Pokemon is constantly fighting [even if for sport] and constantly on the move, this will convince their body that it isn’t safe for newborns, cue the trainers only see their Pokemon use the magic method. Also; From Bird Keeper Toby; the magic method is basically a fusion of the two magics, hence why outside observers are going to be confused for generations. You just watch a pair of Pokemon interacting and suddenly a giant egg forms between them like????
On: Combat, Competition, Etc; I have heard the comments on Pokemon fights being Dog-fights, I don’t have the awareness or words to explain whether or not this can be attributed. But there are some things I think I should point out: It is the responsibility of the trainer to ensure the Pokemon isn’t horribly injured and will be taken care of post-fight, Pokemon are typically shown to be more intelligent than normal animals [the exacts are weird], and Pokemon naturally engage in these fights regardless. None of these on their own would make this okay, and admittedly there is still a fine line that with the wrong information becoming canon can put the Pokemon world into full dystopian hellscape territory. None the less, we should think of the fights between trainers less like brutal dog-fights and more like duels between samurai or knights or whatever. Still brutal in many cases, but it’s more for the collective honor of the trainer and their team. When a Pokemon joins your team, it’s typically because you showed it that you are a competent strategist, in a sense you are the warlord showing the mercenary why they should swear loyalty to you and not simply continue being a rogue. To an extant this means that if some one has insulted the trainer, they also have insulted the Pokemon.
Continued: Combat, Competition, Etc; I imagine “proper” matches, like against gym leaders, there are rules that the player is unaware of. The animated special based on the games made it seem like Gym Leaders have many Pokemon to choose a team appropriate to the challenger’s level, and I quite like that idea. There is also the possibility that, like shown in some anime competitions, there are rules about how many Pokemon you can use. Chances are there aren’t any rules as to how many Pokemon you can use in the first two gym battles, aside from the legal carrying limit of six, so you would be allowed to beat Brock with an army of Nidoran if you wanted, but later gym battles would likely limit you to the same number of Pokemon as the Gym Leader. Though I imagine the last Gym doesn’t use this rule, due to the fact that the difference of one single Pokemon is negligible compared to the difference of skill between actual strategy vs “keep sending mediocre Pokemon until the enemy runs out” at this stage. Elite Four and their equivalents likely use the limit again, at least in some cases. These same Gyms likely have a universal rule that one can only use four attacks per Pokemon [as brought up prior]. Now I have a general set of theories regarding Alola and the Trials but that is later [I hope... I am at a bit before 3:15 right now... shut up I keep needing to start youtube music videos]. Now matches between random people probably aren’t regulated as much, so there can easily be matches that use roughly the same rules as the League and there can be “all out” matches, the latter of which are likely used by the Evil Teams [aka: the Mafia in gen one and two, Eco-Terrorists in gen three, a few cults, and you get the picture]. Like, seriously sometimes you’re dealing with people that are literally planning mass genocide and just waltzing into their base to stop them, would they seriously be above breaking every rule you’ve had to follow to earn your honor trinkets?
Regarding Pokemon Intelligence and Person-hood: I have this headcanon that the Pokemon language is at least 50% pure intention, this is to give Pokemon of all sorts universal understanding of each other. This means that one vocalization pattern can mean hundreds of things, say one word that means “food” would also be able to refer to each and every specific berry with just a twist of intention. This would be why humans can’t understand Pokemon but Pokemon can [at least mostly] understand humans. There is a canonical case of a human understanding Pokemon perfectly [or at least close enough] in all three main universes so it’s not impossible for humans to understand Pokemon, it just likely takes a couple random quirks of genetics and circumstances. Now: in Mystery Dungeon Pokemon are shown making villages, while in the game canon and most of the anime and manga canon [as far as I’m aware] they don’t. I imagine this being a case of the two groups having a fundamental difference in mindsets. Humans, by our nature, want to be better, nay, The Best, and will push ourselves to reach that point. We are also puny beings that are very lazy. This all combines result in humans developing ways to not only survive but to be able to kick someones’ ass [really ambitious people will want to be able to do so in two minutes flat], finding a way to go from point A to point B [regardless of if there is forest, valley, desert, or ocean between those points], and the ability to press a button and suddenly a pizza is put in your hands [five to fifteen minutes later] ready to eat. Pokemon on the other hand seem to typically be content with their pockets, a Pokemon will fight to be as strong as the locals, a Pokemon will only venture to ‘their’ areas [such as stationary species only traveling far enough to get water and food, or migratory species sticking to two or three homes], and they often see no reason to barter or develop monetary systems. They aren’t stupid, they just don’t have an in-built desire to advance like that, But they do see humans, the weakest of all beings in this world, make grand structures or traverse places the Pokemon would think untouchable. This also explains why mighty dragons and proud beasts, even skittish creatures, would follow humans to the ends of the earth and beyond.
Some Stuff Regarding Alola: >They likely aren’t viewed too greatly in-universe due to how long it took them ti set up a proper league, plus the fact they still don’t have gym battles. Think of it like how there are plenty of people that disregard certain people’s cultures as “inferior” because it doesn’t match the european systems >I imagine the Trials to be a bit more brutal than Gym Battles. This is because when you enter the Trial Grounds, there isn’t someone coming in with you, there isn’t a guide to stand nearby, and your final challenge is against a mostly feral Pokemon. Sure the Pokemon was technically trained by the Trial Captain, but I think that would be more in line with how Zoo keepers might ‘train’ the animals for behavior that won’t traumatize a kid rather than how people train dogs for the dog shows [you know with the hoop jumping and all that] >I imagine the Trials to work kind of like the the Sheikah Trails in Legend of Zelda; Breath of the Wild. aka: as long as you accomplish the goal [and in this case don’t cause too much carnage/etc], it’s allowed. So while the game doesn’t let you, I imagine it is totally fine to jump into the Pokemon fight along side your Pokemon, possibly even have your full team against the totem. >Quick Reason Note to Send Your Full Team Out, Ever: when up against a trainer, that tells them they could do the same, now you have to keep track of however many Pokemon they have, on top of everything else. Also have fun keeping track of let’s say three Pokemon all relying on you to lead them to victory, without the helpful game interface. >The Grand Trials would be a way to make sure trainers don’t think they can get away with basically bringing a crossbow to a game of darts, you’re forced into a Proper Match against a respected official.
I just remembered [re: scrolled up and checked] that i promised to explain my idea on Pokeballs: the short answer is that, due to what Pokemon are made of, they are capable of transforming into a pure energy state [basically returning to what they were in the giant egg] that takes up much less space. This ‘pure energy’ state is innately unstable so most Pokemon can’t just use it willy-nilly to shortcut tiny spaces or otherwise untraversable terrain. What they can do with this ability is to put themselves inside appropriate pockets, such as ones found in hollowed out apricorns, and go into a sort of half-conscious state. I reconcile this with Legends: Arceus’s lore drop of how pokeballs work via my above rule regarding human fallibility: All the researchers and other humans are seeing is the Pokemon seemingly shrinking and hiding in the pokeball, they don’t realize it is being stored in a pure energy state. Better pokeballs [like modern ones] might be better equipped to hold that energy, hence differing catch rates for different types of pokeballs, why the modern ones can shrink to the size of a marble, etc.

i dreamt i was at a “bible study” camp that didn’t teach the bible and had nothing to do with it. i was talking to a doctor in a white doctor coat about something i don’t remember which prompted him to leave and come back with a handful of needles in little packages and tell me to take one, not saying what it was. i told him i didn’t have any medication that requires injection. he tried to be like ‘are you sure you don’t want to try one’ so i insisted that no, i couldn’t just take the whole pile. i didn’t want the full effects of whatever it was and wasn’t a fan of shots anyway, to take them back to someone who actually needed them. he reluctantly agreed.
then i think i became partially aware i was dreaming and wandered around trying to remember where the dream was going next. i explored a kids playplace looking area (maybe i got this dream confused with my last one lol) then was outside on a grassy hill. the doctor guy was with me the whole time and i started calling him Toby because his hair looked like the youtuber bird keeper toby. I followed him to a house at the top and went in to where he was sitting on a thin platform over a huge drop off at the back. he was cupping his hands and holding water in them that he’d seemingly generated out of thin air. for some reason i thought the story ended with me trying to figure out what he was doing up there and falling to my death. it felt like i “remembered” how the dream was supposed to go, as if it was a pre planned story with certain set plot beats. i tripped off the tiny balcony platform, fell through the sky in slow motion, and hit the ground. it painlessly went dark for a couple seconds, then i woke up.

(@wingsofachampion) Hiya! Do you have any cool biology facts about humans? Or just Pokemon? -Tropius
Okay, human biology time. I'm going to be honest, I'm not the best at covering this stuff. There is still a lot of stuff I don't understand about human biology and why we're unable to do a lot of the stuff pokemon can.
Humans
I'm getting one thing straight: humans are not Pokemon! We may be descended from Pokemon (I'll get to that), but we're not Pokemon! For one, we're unable to go into pokeballs, we can't lay eggs, and we can't use moves (well, some people have developed psychic abilities, but I'm not even sure if I'm qualified enough to unpack that.)
Researchers assume that at some point, people and Pokemon were the same thing. But this was at a time where a lot of other Pokemon were around as well, and there wasn't just one organism that just split off to humans and pokemon; humans only appeared around 200,000 years ago. But the pokemon that appeared here was the common ancestor between humans and a lot of monkey Pokemon. This pokemon also split off to other pokemon, particularly in the human-like egg group. (And for the people wondering, we theoretically can breed with the humanoid pokemon, but I do NOT want to talk about that. Ik that in some universes, it's okay, but in mine, it's not)
I don't know more than that. But I'm sure other people on rotomblr will be able to help you!

Pokemon Legends Arceus speculation
It’s been a couple of days and I’ve had a chance to think about it. So here’s what I predict Pokémon Legends Arceus might be like. I think first of all, I’m hoping for jumping and climbing. Climbing might be more likely because Sinnoh did have the HM Rock Climb.
Speaking of HM’s, what if we still kept their challenges, but tied stuff like Rock Smash and Flash to crafted items? Like Pick Axes and Torches. This would also be great if the Sinnoh Underground was originally a unlit cave system.
They said there wasn’t going to be a Pokémon League or Gyms, but what if we still had challenges? And instead of a Gym Leader there was a Totem Pokemon, or a Dynamaxed Pokemon “boss” that you’d have to catch, and maybe it would provide you with resources or recipes.
All of these are mechanics, but I’ve also liked TAHK0’s idea of a Porygon 0, or BirdKeeperToby’s idea that it might be Cyrus (I think that’s from Toby) as the Pokémon Professor. But also what if we have historical forms of other Pokémon? Like a Geisha Gardevoir?
Tumblr media
Although it’s likely related more to the fact that Pokémon from other regions will be making an appearance, like Spheal from the trailer. But I would love historical forms of Pokémon. And it would just make sense given the fact that Pokémon are ever changing.

Idk if anyone here watches Bird Keeper Toby on YouTube but I love him and I love the evil Pokémon team he created, Team Snooze! I would definitely be a member, and when I posted this on instagram he responded saying “welcome to the team”!
I also just bought a pin of the Team Snooze logo! It’s coming from the UK so it’s gonna be a while 😂
