DP x DC: True Love’s Kiss
loosely inspired by the Princess and the Frog, but more inspired by Comet the Super Horse, Supergirl’s oft forgotten “pet”
And by “pet” I mean Comet isn’t a kryptonian horse, he’s a fucking centaur named Biron cursed by a witch to switch between forms that also gave him superpowers. Might not have been a curse, but still oddly specific considering he was just her horse for a while and also in love with her I think?? Also a member of the Legion of Super-Pets.
So LET’S DO THAT TO DANNY(kind of)
So the legend of the church Grim, is that it’s a protective spirit of sorts guarding churches and cemeteries, taking the form of a large black dog with red eyes.
So, one of the various witches, warlocks, occultists or sorcerers managed to bind Danny, to guard... something. Danny isn’t quite the normal type of spirit and frankly the person clearly messed something up. The result?
Danny is stuck in the form of a black dog with access to some of his powers. Frankly, they seem suspiciously like Krypto’s powers... The League suspects Lex Luthor experimented with cloning Krypto, and Superboy get’s a superpowered pet of his own.
Danny and Kon? The best of friends. They’re practically glued at the hip, where kon goes, Danny goes. Suddenly, being a dog isn’t all that bad. Sure, there’s the can’t talk or order fast food, but Kon feed’s him a lot more “people food” than he should when Ma Kent isn’t looking, and the dog food they get is surprisingly tasty. It’s fun wrestling with Kon, and Kon gives the best belly rubs. They take on bad guys together go on adventures, and it’s a surprisingly enjoyable life.
The one day, snuggled up in Kon’s bed ready to got to sleep, Kon just smooches his dog on the head, and *POOF*
Kon’s dog just transformed into a man his age, who is currently naked and in his bed.

Friends, enemies, comrades, Jacobins, Monarchist, Bonapartists, gather round. We have an important announcement:
The continent is beset with war. A tenacious general from Corsica has ignited conflict from Madrid to Moscow and made ancient dynasties tremble. Depending on your particular political leanings, this is either the triumph of a great man out of the chaos of The Terror, a betrayal of the values of the French Revolution, or the rule of the greatest upstart tyrant since Caesar.
But, our grand tournament is here to ask the most important question: Now that the flower of European nobility is arrayed on the battlefield in the sexiest uniforms that European history has yet produced (or indeed, may ever produce), who is the most fuckable?
The bracket is here: full bracket and just quadrant I

THIS DAY IN GAY HISTORY
based on: The White Crane Institute's 'Gay Wisdom', Gay Birthdays, Gay For Today, Famous GLBT, glbt-Gay Encylopedia, Today in Gay History, Wikipedia, and more …
Tumblr media Tumblr media
c.500 – Today the Christian church honours the feast day of St Galla (d.550), a Roman nun of the turn of the 6th century. What makes her of particular interest to gay people today, is her intimate friendship and devoted attention to her colleague, the nun Benedicta. This devotion was so intense, that according to legend, in answer to prayer, they were permitted to die together, so as to avoid being separated even for a moment of eternity.
In his Dialogues, Pope Saint Gregory the Great speaks of a holy woman of Rome named Galla, who had been married for less than a year when her husband died. Refusing to remarry, the young widow resolved to devote the rest of her life to God. To protect her beauty againt men's attention, it is said she disguised herself as a man and God gave her a beard.
Joining with a community of women living near St. Peter's Basilica, caring for the poor and sick, this wealthy and pious woman founded a convent and a hospital. She is reputed to have once healed a young deaf and mute girl by blessing some water, and having the girl drink from it.
As she lay stricken with breast cancer, Galla kept two candles burning each night at the foot of her bed, for Gregory explains, "She hated darkness, being a friend of light, physical as well as spiritual light."
It was between these two candles that one night the Apostle Saint Peter appeared in a vision to Galla. The dying woman asked him: "Have my sins been forgiven?"
Smiling, Peter nodded yes and answered, "They are forgiven. Come."
But Saint Galla now requested, "I beg you to let Sister Benedicta come with me."
Peter told her, "Sister Benedicta will follow you in thirty days." Three days later, Galla died, and a month later, Benedicta.
Their story (or myth) is an important reminder that for all the modern Church's opposition to homosexuality, the record shows that same-sex couples and queer saints, nuns, priests, bishops, and popes have always been present, throughout Church history.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1984 – Odin Biron is an American actor living in Moscow and Minneapolis. While not well-known in the United States, he is best-known in Russia for playing the character Dr Phil Richards in the popular medical sitcom, Interns.
Born in Duluth, Minnesota, Biron grew up nearby in rural Minnesota, moving to Ann Arbor, Michigan, with his mother after his parents' divorce. While studying at the University of Michigan, he studied at the Moscow Art Theatre on student exchange and was, unusually, invited to stay and join the incoming Russian class. In one of his final student roles, he won an award for his portrayal of Hamlet in a production that toured to New York's Baryshnikov Arts Center.
Landing a role in Interns, a top-rated Russian medical sitcom, in 2006 raised Biron's profile substantially and he has spoken about being recognised in nightclubs and avoiding "celebrity events" as a result. In a country where a large majority of the population view the United States "badly" or "very badly", Biron is one of a few Americans in the public eye, yet the success of Interns has led to Biron being considered a heartthrob and very popular.
Biron came out to his parents as a teenager and made no big secret of his homosexuality, but Russia is very socially conservative on LGBT rights, with hostility towards legal recognition of same-sex marriage and support for laws discriminating against LGBT people. His character on Interns was raised by two gay fathers, though the treatment of the issue of sexuality on the show has been described as reinforcing the Soviet idea that homosexuality is a product of Western moral decay, rather than being used to promote more liberal values.
It is very common for LGBT performers in Russia to avoid coming out, with an unspoken don't ask, don't tell arrangement between the entertainment industry and the mainstream press. After the passage of 2013's Russian LGBT propaganda law, Biron's Interns co-star and former Orthodox priest Ivan Okhlobystin made international news with genocidally homophobic remarks made in a December 2013 talk in Novosibirsk, leading Biron to consider leaving the show and Russian TV altogether. As a result, he came out in an interview with New York magazine in early 2015, to mixed reactions, reported in the Russian press accompanied by mentions of Okhlobystin's remarks. After an initial reaction leaving Biron with "a sense of physical danger, political danger", he initially left Russia. He returned later without any apparent negative effect on his career, though his friendship with Okhlobystin had become untenable after the former priest's reaction describing him as a "pervert" and a "sodomite".
Biron lived in Moscow with his boyfriend, a Kazakh film director. In an interview with Minnesota's Star Tribune in May 2015, however, he mentioned that he was back in the United States permanently and, as well as acting, was pursuing a Le Cordon Bleu culinary degree.

1840 – John Addington Symonds (d.1893) was an English poet and literary critic. Although he married and had a family, he was an early advocate of male love (homosexuality), which he believed could include pederastic as well as egalitarian relationships. He referred to it as l'amour de l'impossible (love of the impossible). A cultural historian, he was known for his work on the Renaissance, as well as numerous biographies about writers and artists. He also wrote much poetry inspired by his homosexual affairs.
John Symonds was born at Bristol, England in 1840. Considered delicate, the younger Symonds did not take part in games after age 14 at Harrow School, and he showed no particular promise as a scholar.
In January 1858 Symonds received a letter from his friend Alfred Pretor, telling of Pretor's affair with their headmaster, Charles John Vaughan. Symonds was shocked and disgusted, feelings complicated by his growing awareness of his own homosexuality. He did not mention the incident for more than a year until, in 1859 and a student at Oxford University, he told the story to John Conington, the Latin professor. Conington encouraged Symonds to tell his father about his friend's affair, and the senior Symonds forced Vaughan to resign from Harrow. Pretor was angered by the younger man's part and never spoke to Symonds again.
In the fall of 1858, Symonds went to Balliol College, Oxford. In spring of that same year, he fell in love with Willie Dyer, a Bristol choirboy three years younger. They engaged in a chaste love affair that lasted a year, until broken up by the senior Symonds. The friendship continued for several years afterward, until at least 1864. Dyer became organist and choirmaster of St Nicholas' Church, Bristol.
In 1862, an accusation of misconduct caused a nervous breakdown and a rest trip to Switzerland where he met his wife to be, whom he married in 1864.
In 1868, Symonds met and fell in love with Norman Moor, a youth about to go up to Oxford, who became his pupil. Their affair, erotic and sensual but kept short of coitus, lasted four years. According to Symonds' diary of 28 January 1870, "I stripped him naked and fed sight, touch and mouth on these things." The relationship occupied a good part of his time. (On one occasion he left his family and travelled to Italy and Switzerland with Moor.) It also inspired his most productive period of writing poetry, published in 1880 as New and Old: A Volume of Verse.
While the taboos of Victorian England prevented Symonds from speaking openly about homosexuality, his works published for a general audience contained strong implications and some of the first direct references to male-male sexual love in English literature. For example, in "The Meeting of David and Jonathan", from 1878, Jonathan takes David "In his arms of strength / [and] in that kiss / Soul into soul was knit and bliss to bliss".
The same year, his translations of Michelangelo's sonnets to the painter's beloved Tommaso Cavalieri restore the male pronouns which had been made female by previous editors. By the end of his life, Symonds' homosexuality had become an open secret in Victorian literary and cultural circles.
Tumblr media
Simultaneously to these widely available works, Symonds was writing, privately publishing and distributing more candid writings about homosexuality. As well as a large number of poems written throughout the 1860s and 1870s, Symonds wrote one of the first essays in defense of homosexuality in the English language, A Problem in Greek Ethics, in 1883. A follow-up essay from 1891, A Problem in Modern Ethics, includes proposals for reforming anti-homosexual legislation.

1924 – On this date the Chilean writer Jose Donoso was born (d.1996). He lived most of his life in Chile, although he spent some years in self-imposed exile in Mexico, the United States (Iowa) and Spain. After 1973, he claimed his exile was a form of protest against the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet.
Donoso was the author of a number of remarkable stories and novels, which contributed greatly to the Latin American literary boom and the foundation of the literary movement known as Magical Realism. His best known works include the novels Coronación, El lugar sin límites (The Place Without Limits) and El obsceno pájaro de la noche (The Obscene Bird of Night). His works deal with a number of themes, including sexuality and psychology, and are often darkly humorous. He is also considered an innovative stylist.
After his death his personal papers at the Iowa Writers' Workshop revealed an active sex life and the fact of Donoso's homosexuality. It came as a shock to some in Latin America's intelligentsia that one of the great writers of the 20th century was in fact Gay.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1513 – Spanish conquistador Vasco Nunez de Balboa discovered what he claimed was a colony of cross-dressing males in present day Panama. It was reported that he massacred them.
Tumblr media
1659 – Richard Berry is banished from Plymouth Colony, after his third arrest on various homosexual sex charges.
Tumblr media
1969 – The Washington Blade publishes its first issue. At that time it was called The Gay Blade and contained hard hitting journalism and gay activism.

January 6 - how are your plants doing? -bironic
Oh man. I used to post a lot about my plants on Twitter and then I stopped because of my burnout and my plants suffered. And then TweetDeck went kaput and I stopped posting on Twitter altogether. (I'm on bluesky now.)
So! Some updates:
A few of my plants have died - the ones that needed more water than others. So I'm very sad about the loss of my Tradescantia spathacea which I had managed to keep alive for 3 years. But at least my succulents are still alive, woo. My spider plants are doing well, too. Tessy is still doing population control and eating my spider pups, though I still have a few pups I need to transplant into a bigger pot and find someone to adopt them. Though I wonder how many spider plants could I reasonably fill the apartment with if I really tried? Hehe.
But yeah…my burnout and anxiety meant I didn't give enough time to my plants because I just lost the threads of everything while grinding in dozens of interviews. Quite a few need to be repotted and/or pruned. My peanut cactus gave me its first ever flower this past year which was cute and spectacular surprise (I hadn't gotten them to flower at all since I've had them). But I def need to split up the peanut cactus into some more pots because they just keep growing and getting root bound.
I did have a spot of trouble with some of my plants that was unexpected.
I have neighbors who are a queer couple and moved in sometime early last year I think. I came outside to get my mail and saw them crouched on the ground in front of their apartment. And then a squirrel hopped down from the railing and walked into the guy’s hand for a treat. I watched these guys with this squirrel for awhile and they were precious and enamored with the critter. The guys told me they felt like Disney princesses when she shows up for food. It was the cutest fucking thing to witness. Apparently the squirrel had started coming around and been reacting to the one guy’s voice. So they’ll have their window open and she’ll come and settle on a ledge and they come out and feed her.
A few weeks later the squirrel’s kids started showing up behind her. The kids are very messy eaters but they’ve all started getting habituated to people, far more than my liking. I grew up in a rural area where red squirrels destroyed sheds and doors and bird feeders. I did not want any of that to be my problem. Alas.
These kiddo squirrels are very cute and all and indeed they do like coming around and getting peanuts from their fanboys. One of these squirrels likes to use my stairs and my plant shelves as a shortcut to the roof to hop onto the branches of the nearby trees. He has knocked over a half dozen of my plants so far on his way up.
Thankfully none of the pots ever broke because they fell into my hibiscus bush, but it broke nearly all the branches of my meagerly flowering hibiscus. I really needed to prune the bush anyway, but my main concern was for the 8” and 6” terracotta pots the squirrel kept knocking over. A few of my succulents lost some pieces and I really should be propagating them but in the meantime I'm WTFing about this squirrel. Cause we'll open our door and just find him hanging out on the top shelf.
I've found peanut shells in my plants, lol.
This little squirrel has the gall to come and sit on the stairs and chatter at me and make other huffy noises. I’ve never fed him, never leave food out. But he gives me very bossy entitled vibes. I’ve relocated the heavier plants away from those shelves because I can’t seem to stop him from climbing.
My hibiscus bush has some new growth which is nice, so I’ll be trying to take better care of that. And taking better care of the rest of my plants. I lost track of so many things over the past year and a half. But I know focusing on my plants always makes me feel better so I just gotta keep on with it.
I also need to make some more acrylic pours for my terracotta! So much fun.

eehee thank you my little squirrel kiddo for leaving your peanut shells in my plants. It's been shells in like 4 different plants now.
January posting meme + claim a date - prompt me. Still open dates!

BONUS ROUND 2: The Royal Favourite Rumble
The main poll is all fun and games, but let us not forget that the charm of the Romanov dynasty is not just about the guys with the crown of Monomakh. In fact, some of them might outright pale in comparison to the colourful characters in their vicinity. And this bonus round is dedicated to exactly such men-behind-the-man (or a woman, or a child). Alas, none of these (with one exception) are official dynasty members, but we'd be remiss if we didn't also celebrate them, and their contributions to the most dramatic dynasty of Early Modern and Modern Europe.
And oh, before anyone asks - Rasputin was disqualified for being vastly more famous than any other person on this poll. No other reason. If you miss him so badly, there are several other shady clergymen one might turn to...
OUR CONTESTANTS
Tumblr media
Patriarch Filaret (Fyodor Nikitich Romanov) - Also known as the ACTUAL first Romanov ruler.
Tumblr media
Patriarch Nikon (Nikita Minin) - The orthodoxy's biggest drama queen.
Tumblr media
Alexander Danilovich Menshikov - Boy went pretty far from (allegedly) a pirozhki seller. And by far we mean Siberia.
Tumblr media
Ernst Johann Biron - You know he was an upstanding gentleman just from the fact he was the favourite person of Anna Ivanovna.
Tumblr media
Grigory Alexandrovich Potemkin - The reports of his artificial villages were greatly exaggarated. Which is surprising considering how hard exaggarating about this dude is.

The way Asimov writes romance makes me close the book, take a deep breath and walk a circle around my room. "I love you" Artemisia, my sister in Christ, you know Biron for what, barely a week? What is this behavior. Or her randomly lying in his arms after cursing him out not even five chapters before it, meeting him less than 24 hours ago.
Did no one ever tell this poor man that he DOESN'T have to write romance? He didn't even want to write it, did he? I remember reading smth where he said that romance just isn't a genre for him and i wholeheartedly agree.
What made him write that? Was he held at gunpoint? Just write me a robot I'm begging you, you are great at that, perfect even. Give me another friendship like Daneel&Giskard, that was absolutely life changing and it altered my brain chemistry in such a way that cannot be ever fixed nor bested, honestly the PEAK bond in all of fiction.
Whatever you do, don't write romance, put that pen down, and I mean this in the nicest way possible with the best of intentions, for you and everyone who's gonna read your books. Each time I think it cannot get any worse, it in fact does get worse. Dear God.
Don't get me wrong, I'm no Asimov hater, he's literally my favourite writer. But good god, sometimes enough is enough.

Here we have three more Dicedom characters! Duke Swan who is a D4 noble, King Biron who is a D2 or coin, and Queen Trinity who is a D3. King Biron and Queen Trinity are the parents of Prince Yksi and dote on him for his charm. Our King and Queen have a good relationship, or at least that's what the Queen sees. 🤫 She has no idea the King has eyes for another, though he's not a cheater by any means. There is just a wonderful man the King is pleased to know quite well, and wishes to know better. 😉
I also have a Spotify playlist to imagine yourself in the kingdom. 🎉

NAME    ⎯⎯   Jarome Blakely
MEANING    ⎯⎯    Jarome - “one who bears a Holy name” (Greek) / Blakely - “black meadow” or "dark clearing" (Old English)
aka    ⎯⎯    He is known as Rome by the ones he's close with but introduces himself as Jarome.
‘Chess Piece" Jarome's alias/code name.
one photo of your muse you like  ⎯⎯
Tumblr media
three headcanons    ⎯⎯
Jarome has never met another person in the astral plane but he has a strong belief that there are others like him, that can access to the astral plane as well. Often, when he meditates, he is searching the astral plane for real people.
Jarome often thinks about his sister, now passed, and uses her as a symbol of his own moral compass. He often reflects on his actions with his sister and his mother in mind. To this day, Jarome credits his own moral integrity to the memory of his family.
Jarome seems to be the most well-adjusted and this might be true. Jarome has made an obsession out of living well. He lives every day for those he has lost.
three things your muse likes doing in their free time    ⎯⎯
Jarome often meditates and peruses the astral plane. He spends a lot of time in quietness and in stillness. In addition to this, he enjoy yoga as it grounds him back into his physical body.
Jarome enjoys art history, and has great admiration for artists, modern and historic. Jarome is a terrible artist but wishes he was better at it, he thinks if he could draw, it would help him to process his powers more.
Jarome enjoys Tai Chi and holds highly his knowledge of chakras. His fighting style is non-violent, though he's caused injury before and surely will again. Aligning his chakras, performing Tai Chi, and other forms of martial arts all keep Jarome feeling calm and balanced.
a phobia your muse has    ⎯⎯
Jarome fears failing to act in an emergency. His fear is to be faced with an emergency situation where someone needs help and Jarome freezes. His greatest fear is to turn and run, rather than to stay and help.
one thing your muse regrets    ⎯⎯
Jarome suffers from survivors remorse, as his family burned to death in a house fire and a very young Jarome could do nothing but flee, saving himself alone.
people your character likes  /  loves    ⎯⎯
Cass Maximoff (Jarome's right-hand man and second-in-command)
Noah Dupont (Jarome's perpetual Plan B is just to send in Noah to take care of it)
Biron Bostaligni (Jarome has a soft spot for Biron, he feels a need to protect him although Biron is blissfully unaware of this)

Dorothea von Biron:
The woman who married Talleyrand. Make of that what you will.
Propaganda:
"A great beauty and gracious hostess, possibly the most beautiful of four extraordinarily attractive and scandalous sisters, said to posses an extraordinary charm. But what makes her The Sexyman is the feat of managing to captivate the old wily devil Talleyrand and becoming the greatest and last love of his life… while, technically, being his niece by marriage.”
Georges Pontmercy:
Uhh....he's Marius' father
Propaganda:
“Marius Pontmercy‘s father was injured in the battle of waterloo (who doesn’t love a mysterious gentleman with scars) his father in law, M. Gillenormand hated him (because he was a royalist and his son in law a bonapartist) and gave him the choice to either raise Marius himself on the condition that Marius would not inherit from Gillenormand or that Marius be raised by Gillenormand and retain his inheritance; Georges chose not to disinherit his son as he himself was only living on a half pay since he is not allowed to see his son he sneaks into mass where Marius is attending so that he at least sees his sone once a week likes gardening is the indirect cause for his son‘s change in political opinions actually more of a sad old man (he’s in his fifties when he dies) he’s also very timid Napoleon made him Colonel, baron and member of the legion of honor for his services at waterloo very loyal methinks quote from les misérables 3.3.2: ‚Pontmercy had ended, may we be pardoned the expression, by having in his mouth the same saliva as his Emperor.‘ he is also described as ‚that man, who had so manly an air‘ was also besties with an old priest otherwise he’s just chilling in Vernon, tending his plants and sitting out in the sun”

*** I gotta talk about this Krebs - Crosby "fight". I recorded the game, & watched it today. The commentators (Martin Biron, & Brian Duff) ... had me cracking up. Especially Brian. Not only did he mention how Sidney had to cross-check him 4 times before getting a penalty (pretty much pointing out how Sidney doesn't get penalized as much as he should). But then pointed our how Sidney likes to go after younger, less experienced players when he fight. Last pre-season he fought a rookie (can't remember who right now), then this season goes after Krebs even though Jost was involved in the hit too. The fight was nothing, & they were laughing in the box.

#UCLFutsal: ASA Tel-Aviv Owls
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
