im sorry im sorry imsorry im sorrr but we gotta be cautious around anyone too much into military* (even if isn't that military or that period), AND also if anyone was a little too much into traditionality! going farther than just celebrating culture to a more malicious twist.

i mean, the fandom has proved stupid enough—ignores obvious shit from someone that isn't even trying to hide—that i don't think that's too crazy to imagine that someone could start with innocuos things and then frog-boiling-in-water to "retvrn" bullshitery, racism, anti-immigration and white supremacy 😬

*perhaps i'd would have been more suspicious of hima's first storyline if i was older ha-ha-ha *cough attack*... if i was older back then maybe i wouldn't have become a fan, maybe: i partially had to learn to look into this shit bc of being in the fandom...

I did get your other message about seeing that he's no longer available -- I think all the Twst nendoroids were preorder only :( -- but figured I'd answer anyway just for reference!

I ordered directly off the Aniplex+ website since they allow international credit cards; for the address I went through Blackship, which is a package-forwarding service (you have things shipped to them and they'll reship it to you). the shipping costs can get a bit expensive depending on item size/weight, but honestly that would be true no matter what, and it ends up being a lot cheaper than going through a proxy-shopper or reseller. (WhiteRabbit/JapanRabbit is the same company's proxy-shop service -- I haven't used that side of them personally, but I see good reviews for them.)

the nendoroids in particular have about a 1-2 month preorder period, and then I think they basically make them depending on how many orders they get, and finally release them about 6 months later. so getting in on the preorder window is, annoyingly, kind of the only way to guarantee getting a semi-reasonable price. (they would announce the preorders on the twst_jp twitter, which is where I saw them; not sure about anywhere else.) it is possible they might re-release them at some point, given they were sort of unexpectedly popular -- I think they weren't originally going to do them for all the characters, just the dorm leaders -- and if we are very very lucky they might even be globally available instead of Japan-only? but that might take more luck than is humanly possible. 💀 I am once again begging Twst to release international merch so I can spend too much money on tiny figures and not just shipping

Sharing some 40k lore of OC's homeworlds among friends, got me eager to create some for Delgoth's home world Arkwright

Arkwright

Before the great fracture of humanity when the webways shut down, Arkwright stood as a luxury colony made up of small towns and villages scattered across a mineral-rich planet. It stood as a holiday location reminiscent of rural England back in the 20th century, with its novelty industrial technology, steam trains, and factory relics.

After being cut off from the rest of the galaxy, Arkwright was consumed by war and conflict until peace out of necessity prevailed, leaving its people fractured into a class-based society, the noble, rich and powerful, and the working masses.

With no fabricators and little knowledge of its advanced technology, Arkwright was left to rely on the relics of the past to rebuild its future. Retrofitting steam machinery with electronic hardware developed a bastardised backward technology, feeding off the toxic emulsion that resided deep in the planet's core. This turned the once beautiful green planet into a toxic polluted wasteland.

Prior to being re-discovered by the Imperium of Man, Arkwright survived the Age of Strife by forging city-sized factories known as 'Great Works'. Each Greatworks functioned as an independent city, refining its rich minerals and pumping out thick pollution into the atmosphere. Its citizens who resided in these mega structures were considered cogs in a much larger machine, each one playing a role from birth to death.

Image on the left: Inspired by British working-class Victorian attire, Arkwright's citizens' fashion is based around functionality. Any and all wealth (for what little there is) is spent on food and small comforts over fashion that would no doubt not survive the workday. Flat caps are a commonplace uniform piece used by various militias and gangs that rule the lower factory levels, often having some signifier as to which gang they belong to (playing cards, patch colours etc.)

Image on the right: Whilst there are many roles in Arkwright's Great Work's cities, none are as prominent as the 'Scrubbers', workers whose job it is to scrub, clean and repair the deepest recess of the factory, where it is its most dangerous. Scrubbers are often picked based on their physical prowess or ability to endure heavy pollution. Given the amount of heavy-duty equipment, armour and tactical gear, Scrubbers are the closest thing Arkwright has to law and order, often being outsourced by higher-class nobles to handle the lower-level gangs.

Psyker bonus!: Psykers are a highly valued commodity to the workforce on Arkwright, to the point where they've created their own means of managing chaos and corruption by pumping the body with a type of refined emulsion. Most Psykers are often hidden from Blackships because of their usefulness, but the cost of long-endured emulsion often cuts their life short fast.

pain: What's the worst pain your OC has ever felt? Do they have a high pain tolerance? Oh boy, as far as purely physical pain...she's taken more than a few beatings in her life, be it by shock maul, black sentinels nightsticks, etc and so on. Shock mauls in general and broken ribs after being shoved from a height (and then dragged around) are probably tied for the worst to her. She hates the recovery process of blunt force more than stabbing or slashes i think. As far as More than just physical, the overall experience of being on a blackship is probably number one, followed by being used as a turbo charged warp conduit as a Wyrdvane, though the pain of that one is a little hard to describe. Considering she's as functional as she is today, I'd say her pain tolerance is EXCEPTIONALLY high!

Royal Dragons of Dragod's Plane

Lore blurbs and inspirations under the cut! The sizes in the picture are not perfectly to scale it's more like jjba power levels are dictated by height lmao

🟦Queen Sky(she/her): Queen of the Chromatic dragons. A mile long(and 22ft wide just the body)! She takes a thunderstorm wherever she goes, thunderstorms are seen as dire omens in this setting. She's based on the blue pit viper.

🌟Emperor Magnan(he/him): Emperor of the Metallic dragons. He resides inside the volcano of an island called Wishstar Island. There is a temple on the island dedicated to the dragon full of monks and wizards who study the wisdom of the ancient benevolent dragon. He's based on Eastern style dragons in general.

🟥Lord General Cragdor(he/him): The general of the Red Army, the largest military force on the Chromatic side. He's the size of a mountain! Instead of wings, he uses jets on the bottom of his cross shaped feet to explosively launch himself into the air. He is based on bulls and volcanoes.

🥈General Clamor(he/she/they): They are the general of the Metallic Military, the largest force on the metallic side. Most frequently found in whatever shape shifted form holds their fancy that month. They have a habit of bedding a new person frequently and for fun. Their royal house is made up of 4 silver half dragons(that they carried +birthed as a female humanoid) that are considered the highest ranking. In addition, every half dragon made by them otherwise as well as the mother gets added to the royal court. They're based on Western Dragons in general, just a little thiccy.

⬜Count Fang(it/its/he/him): Count Fang is only dragon royalty on the Chromatic side out of technicality. It is the biggest most powerful white dragon, so it won the title. It lives on the upper region of the planet known as the Arctic ice sheet. Life is harsh there, while there are humanoids there, the rest of the world ignores it due to the climate. It is not even evil necessarily, it has a focus on growing bigger and stronger and better at hunting. As the apex predator of the Arctic ice sheet, other things living there worship it as a symbol of survival and hunting. Its wings are not for flight, they are thick and blanket-like webs of connective tissue and fur. It wraps them around its body when diving into the frigid water, as well as when it sleeps. It has black scales that hollow/white fur grows out of. It is based on polar bears and whales.

🥉High Captain Coral(she/her): High Captain Coral is the pirate queen and ruler of the seas. She spends most of her time polymorphed into a humanoid woman. She runs all of the important trade routes. She also manages a pirate haven island (Blackship) where her den is, as well as a pirate's hoard of items and treasure. Technically she is only a pirate by flavor standards, but she is not above attacking ships that steal from her. She does not like getting involved in the Dragon War, she prefers managing sailors to soldiers. Her dragon form is based on otters.

🟧Lord Bee(he/him): Lord Bee is child minded young copper dragon. He loves pranks and jokes. His Lair (The Sting Pit) has a comedy club-esque stage/stadium that looks like a colosseum but drilled into a flat clifftop. Wants to solve conflict via humor and pranks. He wants to make a travelling circus that cheers up anyone and everyone who sees it. When his pranks go badly and hurt others he becomes deeply depressed. He's based on a bee, obviously.

⬛Lord Strip(he/him): As the Chromatic royal torturer he enjoys torture of every kind. His name comes from his most common method of torture, stripping skin off of living victims. He then submits them to his acid bile breath weapon, or the acidic Black Swamps he lives in. Then if they still don't give up the information, he allows their raw flesh to get infected and rot while on their body. He wants to torture as many humanoids as possible. He dreams of also torturing the Metallic True Dragons or their children. He researches new methods, constantly trying to find the balance between most agony and slowest death. His weaknesses are sanitation and radiant damage. Abhors anything clean and soap and high proof alcohol. Holy light cleanses in this setting. Based on frogs and alligators.

🎺:Lady Gymdora(she/her): She spends most of her time polymorphed as a female dwarf. She wants to create a better world via an empire that she rules. She is trying to build a whole civilization with ideal living conditions for dragons and humanoids. She wants the Dragon War to end so that she can safely colonize more territory to build upon. Naive. Loves gossip and facts and can be convinced to do bad things if it seems profitable/beneficial to her plans. Her dragon form is based on bats and flying squirrels.

🟩Lady Thorn(she/her): She wants to rule the world without ever lifting a claw. To extend her influence past her current territory without having to leave it. She raises kobolds so highly trained as spies that they can be sent to colonize in her name. Her weaknesses: She can't fly. She isn't weak to fire damage, but the plants covering her body are. She gets deeply enraged beyond reason when her forest gets damaged.

sent an ask yesterday about foreign fans joining fan clubs and didn’t realize you had already answered this a while ago, sorry about that! as far as you know, is the procedure of asking in a letter still how to go about trying to join? thanks!

No worries! I'll even reiterate for those who may not have seen: the question was can you join a fanclub as an overseas fan. The short answer is yes! The longer answer is it varies from club to club whether they send mail overseas or not. If they don't, you can still join the club, but you will need a proxy in Japan (either a friend or a service) to receive your mail.

The latter makes inquiring a little trickier. You won't get a response to your letter; typically, if you include in a letter that you'd be interested in joining an actress's club, she passes it along to her staff who will then just mail you club forms.

So there are a few ways to go about it:

You can send the letter, say you would like to join the club, include your home address, and see if you get forms. If you do, they are happy to mail outside the country! The downside is you might just not receive anything, and then you might not know for sure why.

You can ask around to see if another foreigner is in the club, or if you have a Japanese friend in the club, they may be able to inquire on your behalf

You can wait for a trip to Japan to join and ask staff yourself (this is what I did back in the day)

You can use a mailbox service such as Blackship or Tenso and provide that address in your letter

The biggest hurdles as a foreign fan are payments and deadlines if you want to travel to Japan, order tickets, etc. Most application deadlines have a quick turnaround designed for Japan's domestic postal system, and most fanclubs take payments entirely via domestic bank transfers (I can't promise they don't exist, but I have never heard of a club taking a different payment method).

If you don't intend to participate and only want to show your support, my recommendation would be either to write regular letters as a non-member, or join using a mailbox service and have a friend in Japan do your annual club fee bank transfer. If you intend to participate, I highly recommend having a friend both be your address and manage your club membership for you, EVEN if your club does mail overseas. You will likely miss all of your club deadlines due to the speed of international mail if you attempt to manage everything yourself.

Have you ever tried using a proxy when ordering things from japan? Do you (or your followers) know any that are reliable? Tysm!

For those curious: Some stores (like animate) or items (like some media) are inaccessible to those overseas. They'll only mail to/be mailed to Japanese address, or must be picked up in person. Sometimes they also only accept Japanese credit cards. Therefore, a proxy will buy the item on your behalf and forward it on to you in a different country. This is not illegal, just a way to get ahold of exclusives.

I'm pretty sure most countries have things like this; however, Japan seems to be one of the few that has made an entire business model out of it (I'll bet the US also has one, but I've never needed that to look).

Anyway, I used to use White rabbit before I realized I knew enough to just switch from proxy ordering to set up a mailbox with Blackship.

(They're the same company; Whiterabbit has since renamed to Japan Rabbit, which...okay? and is the proxy side of the business, while Blackship just maintains mailboxes and forwards packages over.)

I believe Rabbit will also pick things up in-store for you (or at least they used to; maybe they've changed that) if you want an in-person bonus type thing.

Blackship you have to know enough Japanese to fiddle with ordering it and mailing it to the mailbox yourself. But it's accordingly cheaper.

Last time I needed a pick up in person for a YuuMori in-store Kino bonus, a very nice follower on Twitter did it for me.

And now I just wanna go back to Japan.

mask: Does your OC wear a mask, literally or figuratively? What goes on beneath it? Is there anyone in their life who gets to see who they are under the mask? For Margot, not intentionally! She's quite blunt and to the point, generally not a very good liar I think. Isn't really someone who believes she has much to hide, probably honest and loyal to a fault at times. However she's got a pretty gruff attitude and stony face, so it isn't hard for one to assume she's even harsher than she looks. I think anyone who spends enough time with her could see who she really is if they're patient or care enough to try. desire: What's one thing your OC wants more than anything in the world? Are they open with that desire? Why or why not? What would they do to fulfill it?

TO UNIONIZE THE WORKERS OF THE WORLD! Or at least of this one shipping yard! Or maybe it's just to be out on the sea, a sailors life for me? Or maybe it's...uh...hm... (She doesn't quite know herself, but I do: It's to see her parents again-especially her mother- and make some amends. This is likely not entirely possible.) break: What would cause your OC to break down completely? What do they look like when that happens? Has anyone ever seen them at their lowest? Oh yes I've drawn a bit for this one, for Thavu, losing Lark to protocol (aka intentionally killing your psyker if they seem too unstable) or losing her entire squad would break her completely! It does not look good after that, she would throw away every ounce of work done to be a nicer person in order to immolate whoever was responsible as soon as possible. Other than that she's had a few major meltdowns. One got her chased out of her hab by witch hunters (fire), another got her captured and put on the blackships (more fire) and yet another time got her sent to an inquisitors suicide squad (may have actually not been fire this time). All of these involve either being abandoned, cornered, or the loss of someone decently close to her. midnight: What keeps your OC up at night? Do they have nightmares? Fears? Anxieties? What do they do in the small hours of the morning when they should be sleeping? Nightmares and anxieties for SURE. Nightmares about...uhh most of her life previously, anxieties about being pulled from wherever it is she tries to sleep, bc nowhere is safe really. But she's very anxious sleeping alone, too. If she really can't sleep she'll pace around awhile and then try to find somewhere close enough to hear other people going about their business, though usually not close enough to be noticed. And then just kind of Listen. Maybe work on something tactile at the same time.
