Books I've Read (2/?): Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel by James Luceno
Galen stared into the depths of the pellucid stone. Could it be cut? Could it be faceted? Could dopants be applied to heighten its conductivity and power output? Could its surface energy be altered? So many questions, so many questions, so many questions...

The end of June marks the half way point of a year of reading. So I thought maybe I’d share how I feel abt the books I’ve read from the start of the year up to now. I’ve read 10 books so far which is great, but I wish I could’ve gotten at least 15 in. But we’re making progress so that’s great!
Best book I’ve read so far: My Year of Rest and Relaxation by Ottessa Moshfegh
Biggest disappointment: The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
Biggest surprise: Dead Poet’s Society by N.H Kleinbaum
Book that made me cry: All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
Book that made me happy: Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata
3 Books I want to read by the end of the year:
Diary of an Oxygen Thief by Anonymous
A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Yes, I know some of these books are basic but I’m a slow reader and a busy person when it’s not summer so I have A LOT to read and catch up on.

Books I've Read....
My Review: Lovely stories. An author’s view on life and friends. I was about to say the best was kept for last but that’s not true. These stories are all on an equal footing. Life for all of us is made up of random moments - some made special by the people or places in them. 4 stars.

i loved this book. looks like it has mixed reviews. considering i had my own mini-like affair with ayn rand in my early 20s perhaps it is apropos. (i didnt understand the divisiveness around what i was reading at the time, but i remember liking the fountainhead and atlas shrugged. i definitely enjoyed how i thought i looked, reading a hefty modern classic on the subway, being all smart. lame. no one cares wtf youre reading)
in any case this book was a delight - really fun, astute identity politics satire!

I have to keep better track of the books I read. So here it goes.
Piranesi by Susanna Clarke
Read it as audiobook on Audible
Page count 272
Time read: Approx 7 hours
Enjoyed most: the mysterious nature of it, the world, guessing when the other shoe would drop, the narrator’s benevolence, his story, Raphael, the concept of other worlds that are accessible. The feel of mythology in a modern world. The use of statues and bones. How frustrated I got sometimes at the level of detail Parnesi included in his journals. The line about the old man.

Fictional people are people, too, otherwise why would we care what happens to them? - The Collector by @norarobertsauthor ~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~ ☆Who is one of your top favorite fictional characters?☆ Allow me to present: most of the books I consumed in January! There was much rereading, most of which was to prepare me for a new book in that world, but there were also comfort reads. I did have my first one star read EVER, nothing pictured here, it was a library borrow. I'm still calling it an excellent reading month. ~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~•~ #readersofinstagram #bookstagram #bookswelove #bookaholic #booklover #booklife #bookaddict #wrapup #booksiveread https://www.instagram.com/p/CoM8NonrWpN/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Nothing better than reading books outside. Weather has been sunny and 90s. Garden is blooming and wild. I have a pile of #summerreads that I got crazy-cheap from #bookoutlet (FYI: link in my bio to shop there and get a free $5 off. Go to their clearance section, search low to high, and find even really pretty hardcovers for $1.99. So rad.) This summer has been much busier than our normal unplanned, unscheduled, lazy pool day summers. Kiddo chose to do a summer program at school for 2 weeks/has been in theater camp through @melodylaneacademy/we both had a ton of appointments/multiple house projects to do... but I still try to find time for books + outdoors. That's my happy place, man. 📚 + ☀️ = ❤️✌️ How's your summer been so far? And what are you reading? (This one is "The Amateurs," by Liz Harmer. One that gives you things to think on. 🤔 A tech is "discovered" that allows you to step through a Port, and the AI of it will transport you to anywhere in space and time. It's created and sold by a google-esque company. But it entices so many people to leave, so quickly, that soon there is less than 1% of the population left. People were supposed to have the ability to return, but none have. Why? What happens when they leave? Those still here have no power/water/etc, since everyone's gone. I'm halfway through and loving it.) #readoutside #bookishgirl #booksarelife #bookstoread #tbr #whatimreading #goodbook #summerreading #readingismagic #bookstagrammer #booksthatinspire #booksthatmakeyouthink #interestingbook #currentlyreading #readingoutside #bookdeals #bibliophiles #bookstoread #booksiveread (at Terrace Heights, Washington) https://www.instagram.com/p/CgXP5EvJccb/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

November 30, 2020 What a fantastic reading month!! There were a few books I wish I could’ve gotten to but I will soon. I started working on How to Train Your Dragon with my boys. They loved the movies and show. Now working on the very long series. I love the covers. My most favorite book this month is Legendborn. I was hooked from the beginning and I’m eagerly waiting for book 2. My least favorites are Soulswift ,only because of the ending, and Of Beast and Beauty because of how the timeline was set up and instalove. • What was your most favorite and least favorite read of November?? 📚 #bookworm #wrapup #november #2020 #booksiveread #bookshelf #shelfie #series #newreads #arc #bujo #booktracker #bulletjournal #bookstagram #bibliophile #bookish https://www.instagram.com/p/CIOcBMUgVsj/?igshid=ab0j1gadp1oe

What a great opening paragraph....
You put two things together that have not been together before. And the world is changed. People may not notice at the time, but that doesn't matter. The world has been changed nonetheless.

Another long ass novel by this lady Hanya, called To Paradise. Three stories, barely intertwined, spanning many centuries in an alternate universe that has lots of paralells to ours (aka political division, shaped by pandemics). Did I want the stories to be more intertwined? I did. Was I confused that the names of the people in each story was the same? I was. Did I enjoy it anyway? Yeah. Interesting format and good storytelling.
