Going through my youtube subscriptions and 80% of the booktubers haven't updated in 1+ years. If I had to guess, they mightve moved over to the clock app. Disappointing but that just means I have to look for new booktubers that read more of what I've been getting into. So if folk have any nonfiction booktuber recommendations, send em my way. Im already subscribed to abookolive.

My Favourite Booktubers
books by leynes
I still remember I found this channel years ago because of her video about classics and subscribed because of shared love for Oscar Wilde. I picked up "The Women of Brewster Place" because of her videos and I love her excitement when she talks about what she is reading. She reads a lot of classics, but not just that. I've heard about interesting books from her that no one else I follow was talking about. Very political focus and she always does research on an author or work. And she is funny! Very very underrated channel.
withcindy
If you are on booktube circles, you know this one. I just find Cindy very entertaining and, just like the one above, I always click when I see she uploaded a new video (unless it's about writing, I must admit). I don't have the same book tastes as her for the most part, but that only shows her power as an entertainer and she always has something funny and clever to say.
Books and Bao
Nb booktuber that foccuses on translated literature. At this point you probably get that I like the ones that expose me to books that I don't hear much about. They seem to like books that make the reader feel disgusted and that is not my jam (except for Earthlings it seems), but I do like the gothic books and historical fiction and the reason I tried "The Familiars" was because of their channel. Also, I do like japanese literature quite a bit. I have yet to try as many books from the other countries they talk about though.
Jack Edwards
This one, similarly to Cindy, is pure entertainment. He is funny and reads a lot of literary fiction. He also has a series about reading the favourite books of certain celebrities. As it happens with fun entertainers, you probably also heard about him if you are in booktube circles. I don't always agree with him on books, but sometimes I do and now and then I get some recommendations from his favourites of the year.
Honorable mentions:
MercyBookishMusings, Liene's Library, Books and Things (she got her novel published and coming out soon), Chris Bookish Cauldron, ellias, A Clockwork Reader, Sam's Cozy Corner, Books are my Social Life, To Be Black and Loved, Badger Reads, BookwithEmilyFox, bazpierce (not posting anymore but I used to love his content. I am grateful he didn't delete everything like most people I used to follow did)

GUEST POST: THE 7 BOOKTUBERS THAT REIGNITED MY LOVE FOR READING ON MY JOURNEY TO MANAGE ANXIETY
Tumblr media
Chronic stress has always been part of my life, so I often turned to escapism using film and television. It was helpful to focus on fictional lives instead of focusing on my own. However, as my stress transformed into anxiety, what once gave me comfort was no longer effective.
For instance, while watching Knives Out for the first time I had to google spoilers in order to finish enjoying the film. My experience with anxiety had been so unpredictable during that time that it was difficult to pinpoint what genres or plotlines would trigger my anxiety. Therefore, I found myself watching a lot more YouTube due to its formularized content.
A community that quickly caught my attention were commentary channels, specifically movie reactors, which is how I learned about the After series. As a result of watching several reactions of the film, the algorithm recommended my first BookTuber, FullofLit. I enjoyed hearing her talk about the book experience because it provided a different perspective.
