As Biden visited Israel to fund and support a genocidal Settler colonial government, he also took moves to increase genocidal acts against Native people in the US by legalizing the destruction of graveyards and holy sites in order to put up a wall in the middle of some tribes historical lands. Border Patrol routinely engage in violence against Native people while searching for "illegal immigrants" of the same tribe.
The US ruling class backs Israel for the same reason it funded a coup against Evo Morales, because as a violent, genocidal Settler colony they back other Settlers and destroy examples of moves towards Indigenous rule in order to maintain their own position as a violent, genocidal Settler colony.
An end to US imperialism and end to Settler colonialism are necessary for the good of the world.

Every single time Republicans try to use the border issue, remind them that they killed the bipartisan border bill to help Trump.

My first Substack post is out!
"Even though the wall kenneled, humiliated, impoverished, and starved the Palestinians, that was the extent of what it could accomplish. The wall deferred the problem of Palestinian resistance, but did not destroy it. This didn’t stop Israelis from seeing the wall as the shield of Israel’s sovereignty: a monument to peace, security, and the legitimacy of colonial domination. This perception seeped into all levels of Israeli society, including the country’s massive military and intelligence apparatus. According to New York Times writer Ronen Bergman, who was born and raised in Israel, 'people of the military got completely enchanted by the wall. And in time, [Israel] allocated fewer and fewer forces to the southern front.' The tragic result of this faith in the wall was that when its effectiveness was finally tested, '[the] contract between the state and the Jewish people was brutally violated.'"

So, apparently Biden started building more of Trump's border wall back in October. Hardly anyone talked about it, partly because American liberals don't like bringing up similarities between Democrats and Republicans, partly because the war crimes in Palestine were distracting sensible people around the same time. But now that I know, I have stuff to say about it.
Biden promised not to build the wall, he said it won't do anything. His administration says we need to build more walls "in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas". Biden says he's only building any of it because he's legally obligated to, because Congress wouldn't undo the budget appropriations; he then waived dozens of federal laws so the construction wouldn't be slowed down by concerns or lawsuits about endangered species, pollution, indigenous burial sites, drinking water, etc.
One of the articles I read pointed out that barriers at the US/Mexican border have historically been a bipartisan project. Clinton ordered a few fences, Bush and Obama a bunch more. It wasn't a partisan issue until Trump built his campaign and political identity around The Wall; I guess it's not partisan any more, either.
Maybe Blue is still better than Red, but they're working hard to make that as much of a technicality as possible. The Democrats are at best spineless accomplices to the Republicans, and at worst willing collaborators. Some individual Democrats are worth supporting, but do your research.
"Vote Blue no matter who" just gives Democrats more leeway to get away with whatever they want, so long as they are infinitesimally less vile than Republicans.
Links to the news articles I read before writing this can be found below, if you're interested.
Probably the best summary from the articles I read:
An article with a completely different focus, which actually lists all 26 laws Biden is breaking waiving for the barriers' construction:
Two articles that are pretty similar to each other and the first article, but each focus on some different details:
There was technically a fifth article, but it was basically just quotes and talking points repeated ad nauseum in the other articles.

Tumblr media
Or this shit what the British put up after splitting my own country in half?!
Yeah.
GONE!
Torn down!
Now I’m aware that certain circumstances may require the creation of such installations like demilitarised areas, buffer zones and so on.
Tumblr media
Like the UN Buffer Zone in Cyprus.
But those are in extremely rare and particular circumstances!

Environmental and humanitarian organizations swiftly criticized the Biden administration’s move to proceed with more border wall construction in southern Texas. “You’re walling off not only people from the river, but wildlife, trying to get away from the river when there’s a flood or getting to the water,” said Jim Chapman, the president of Friends of the Wildlife Corridor, an environmental non-profit in the Lower Rio Grande Valley. “That’s basically the only water there is. It’s basically horrible.” Laiken Jordahl of the Center for Biological Diversity similarly noted that the national corridor along the Rio Grande River, especially in the National Wildlife Refuge, is “the last ribbon of habitat for a lot of species.” “Bulldozing a border wall through the heart of that habitat is absolutely devastating,” Jordahl said. “There’s not a lot of nature left in South Texas.” Roberto Lopez, an advocate with the Beyond Borders program at the Texas Civil Rights Project, drew parallels between the Biden administration’s announcement and the president’s predecessors. “President Obama built Bush’s wall and now Biden is building Trump’s,” Lopez said. “In the Rio Grande Valley, it’s been consistent that the federal government has been building border wall over the last several years, and this is just a continuation of those policies.” “I’m from South Texas. I’m from these areas. It feels like a slap in the face," he added. "It feels like bollards are going up, when infrastructure in these communities is struggling.”
motherfucker!
