Piglin Thoughts

Well!!! I feel just awful today so I will talk about Briar and piglins to help me feel better.

One of the things i wanted to think about relates to Piglin children, all Piglins are born with quite long tails,,, they curl into 2 or 3 loops and are naturally held in an upward position, this is a content emotion. When walking or feeling shy/scared, young piglins will use their tails to cling onto their mothers or any caregiver that is with them. They wag when happy, place it between their legs when scared, stick it straight up and shake the tip when angered, etc. Piglins usually outgrow the large length of their tails when they are older than 5 years,, Briar though, hadn't outgrown it, it grew with him, he has a long tail, which isnt necessarily a bad thing, but it affects hunting, which he cannot do because of his tail. The same thing happened with his ears as well, though that is less common. Speaking of which, telling time in the Nether is something strange and silly and yes, oddly convenient, but leave me be this is simple for my brain to comprehend!!!! Piglins are the only race that time really matters to, so they're the ones that developed it to this point. There are large lava pools that piglins tend to make bastions near, these lakes withdraw for 12 hours a day, and flow inwards another 12 hours. This leaves their days at 24 hours each. They have decided that 360 of these days constitutes a full year. The lowtide 12 hours are for digging up gold, blackstone and quartz!! the other 12 they spend processing those materials and sleeping. Piglins sleep from 10 - 8 hours.

Another small detail for child piglins, is the very normal tradition of piercing their ears or nose!! Depending on what the parents want, one of those two places will be pierced with a gold ring(s)!!! When the child reaches 18 years, (adult) they are given one more piercing of their choice and are sent off to begin working for the bastion in many many ways. In their lifetimes, piglins will average 2 - 6 different piercings anywhere on their bodies. This gold is obviously very very heavy and Briar had lost one of his piercings when he was about 15, one ear is now longer than the other. The poor man looks like a damn donkey at this point.

The mercenary had settled down in a small bar as lackluster as the last moments of her mission had been, a glass of the strongest drink they had on tap in her hands and a deck of cards in the other. In the middle of the Immortal Bastion, a glimpse of the pillory might not have seemed such an intriguing sight, but Samira was bored and the younger woman looked like she had stories. Getting drunk in a bar while talking to a stranger was not necessarily her idea of a successful night, but it could at least be a beginning. With a swift move, Samira had left her stool at the bar to gracefully slide next to the stranger, pushing the deck of cards in her hand in front of the odd person near her. Now that she was closer and could see Briar more clearly in the low light of the bar, she looked human enough, but not quite. “Looks like you’ve had a day. Would you like me to deal you in?”

A lot of places are named after historical events, battles, and people, so keep that in mind. God/Goddess names tied to your world also work well. Places are also often named after things that the area is known for, like Georgia being known for its peaches.

Oh so ur just gonna come for my neck like that huh

How I feel about this character: yall the name of this blog is I Would Die for Bastion Misawa and that is not a joke. I love him so much and want to see him the happy little angel he is because he deserves it. His character arc of top student to begging a cult to let him in to living in the wilderness of some other dimension to staying in that dimension doing god knows what with tanya (I have a few ideas of my own) is so WILD but honestly so believable to me because the internal and external pressures of being a successful student are enough to make someone crack and instead of being a stereotypical smart character he was flawed and human and needed validation which is something we all experience. Then what I assume would be a journey to find himself ensued and he comes back closer to his old self and he is just a BABY and I love him so much I have more feelings but I'm trying to not turn this into s book lol

Any/all people I ship romantically with this character: we all know this was coming but JADEN!!!!! That's my oh tee pee to end all otps if I'm not tutorshipping trash on main assume I've gone to the great card game tournament in the sky. I also do like tigershipping (bastion/tanya) and that's gonna end up as the main pairing for my current fic series. Obviously I dont write it like it appears in the show or else that would be a disaster. Bastion and Chazz are also adorable together god bless

My favorite non-romantic relationship with this character: I'm a lil confused about this one bc theres also a question about friendship in this section so refer to that for my feelings

My unpopular opinion about this character: I'm only gonna say this once but BASTION WAS A BETTER RIVAL THAN CHAZZ!!! I love chazz with all of my heart and would die for him but Jaden never considered him a rival he was kinda like "oh theres that weird obelisk blue that's a dick and also my friend" from the get go and never like studied up to beat him in a duel or anything. Like...Bastion fuckin nerfed Jadens deck in the school duel prelims with Cursed Seal of Forbidden Spell and studied to counter Jadens deck and Jaden was actually on the ropes for that duel. Ofc Jaden had to win because hes Jaden but like??? Bastion was much closer to a rival in dueling skills than Chazz and I wish that canon had highlighted it more because it was so beautiful and wonderful

One thing I wish had happened in canon with this character: hoo boy. The biggest thing is that I wish he hadn't faded to the background and become a joke character but I have taken it upon myself to give him the love and attention he needs plus that's a pedestrian thing to say. I honestly wish that we'd gotten to see him interacting with people from his dorm more or just more episodes that take place in Ra yellow since we dont get to see that much of it. Like one of the interactions thats coming to mind is when Dmitri loses to syrus and bastion speaks to him afterward after everyone's left in a very familiar manner. Another is the duel giant episode where Bastion not only knows both Briar and Beauregards names but ALSO knows Beauregard is there to design games and that Briar has stage fright. Obviously he has friends outside of the Squad (tm) and I wish we had gotten to see more of that. Or more of ra yellow in general because it was seriously neglected to the point that there was a very meta episode about it in season 2

Favorite friendship with this character: ALEXIS!!!!! almost all of my bastion content includes alexis to some extent because I have a lot of headcanons involving them being science buddies and studying for exams together and shit and being the kind of friends that end up with houses next to each other with a pool going across both of the backyards. They're platonic soulmates and I will not hear otherwise

Notes abt Piglin Culture

Hello!! Back again with another post about Piglins and their culture!! These are all headcanons of course and while some are based off the lore in-game, some are def based off my own ideas!!

I do wanna say Piglin culture is something I like to insert my own culture into, so be aware some things might be influenced by Aztecan and Mexican culture as well as Salvadorian. Usually these won't be too impactful, but I am speaking from my own experiences. I also want to state we'll be delving into a bit of lore from Minecraft Legends!! And happy holidays and merry christmas to my fellas out there! I'll try to post more soon, I have a theory/headcanon on Drowned I wanna show off here!!

this is a long post so yeah :0)

Firstly,

I wanted to touch one some small notes about the jobs Piglin culture has, as well as what they do for their community. I'm certain it's very clear their people are attached very heavily to each other, all raising children together, fighting, harvesting, protecting and living as one unit. I think Bastions represent a lot of different needs their people used to have in the days of old, namely the time of Minecraft Legends. The 4 Piglin leaders put into place their values into the Bastion structures. The Unbreakable implemented the Bastion system in the first place!! They were the one who first had the idea of Treasure Bastions, as a way to keep their history and treasures secure no matter what would happen. The Devourer designed the Housing Units, The Beast created the Hoglin Stables, and lastly, The Great Hog developed the Bridge Units. With these different units, different Piglins are required to choose a job and serve their community once they reach the age of 20. These jobs are Protectors, Nether-Roaming, and Bastion Dwellers.

Bastion-Dwelling piglins are ones that work preparing food, creating bricks for repairs, making beds and linen from stem trees, and creating music and clothes. They also take care of the elderly and children, usually are very social and polite. This job is usually for Piglins who aren't able to fight/don't know how, have disabilities that might make constant movement difficult, have children, or are generally more interested in this kind of work. It is slightly lighter work,though it is constant and takes a lot of effort to complete. (this is what Briar worked as due to his overgrown tail and ears as well as his physical hypo sensitivity due to his autism, also hes good with medicine lol)

Nether-Roaming works as scavengers, collecting bones, quartz, gold, blackstone and netherrack. As well as raiding any older chests around Ruined Portals and abandoned Bastions/Fortresses. Next are hunters who will kill magma cubes for medicines and potions as well as hoglins for meat and hides. Another job is Messagers. They will also communicate between Bastions, sending messages and pushing to form alliances.

Lastly are Protectors! Protectors are trained from a very young age (15 or so) to be ready for this kind of work. Protectors train in combat and mental fortitude especially. They are given a strict amount of rules to live by and support, are taught to not fear zombification and zombies. Protectors are needed to protect and secure any and all treasures inside of Bastions as well as all the Piglins who live inside of it!!

Another thing i wanted to mention briefly is the importance of gold and how its used to show a kinship within their culture.

Piglins usually have at least 2-4 different piercings on their body. Most keep to 2 piercings though. The most common are nose and ear piercings, as they're the easiest to care for. But!! It is normal to have them in a variety of other places and to have multiple in the same place!! (Dagger has two gauges in both ears.) Tail, nipple, belly button, eyebrows, lip and a variety of eyebrow n mouth related piercings.

Piercings are done by heating a quartz rod and poking it into the cartilage around where the piercing is meant to be placed. after the incision is done, a golden hoop, clip or small stud is placed within it. It is left to heal and is cleaned consistently with a mixture of water and magma cream. The piercing is always entirely golden and is always kept for the rest of their lives.

One piercing is done when the piglet is born, and another when they are an adult (20). The more piercings a Piglin has, the more revered and attractive they are seen as!! In general though, height, strength and overall size are attractive traits among piglins, as well as curlier/patterned hair/fur! (yes this means canonically Dagger is attractive but i think it's funnier that Briar is very much unattractive)

I also want to say i believe Piglins have a dormant winter gene in their DNA, back when their ancestors lived in a frozen tundra or the prehistoric Nether. (yes this is an idea presented by MatPat, but also its common sense with irl geography and history) This gene only comes up with Piglins who have moved to the Overworld.

Lastly, I will talk about how Piglins are perceived in the Overworld. The legend presented in Minecraft Legends is very much what V/Illager folk believe about the Piglin race. Brutish, disgusting, unappealing and violent. They usually look down on them and have no intentions of going to the Nether to actually see if these things are true. V/Illagers despise Piglins usually, though some don't see them as a threat as these prejudices spawn from old stories. Even so, the disdain is seen in how Villagers have their Iron Golems attack Piglins on sight. In the current story, most V/Illagers care not for Piglins, though some are of course hesitant around them. Unfortunately, this isn't much better as there are some V/Illagers who only like Dagger n Briar n such bc they see them as 'exotic', 'feisty' and 'cutesy' so :/ but its just part of being in a new place where people misinterpret you and your culture

Culminating a six-year animated journey that began with the release of Justice League War in 2014, Justice League Dark: Apokolips War finds Earth decimated after intergalactic tyrant Darkseid has devastated the Justice League in a poorly executed war by the DC Super Heroes. Now the remaining bastions of good – the Justice League, Teen Titans, Suicide Squad and assorted others – must regroup, strategize and take the war to Darkseid in order to save the planet and its surviving inhabitants. This is truly the war to end all wars, and only the victor will live to enjoy the spoils.
