Kizuna no Allele Spoiler-Filled Review
Tumblr media
Kizuna no Allele is an idolish music series directed by Kenichiro Komaya. Wit Studio and Signal.MD produce the series. The latter is known for series such as The Ancient Magus' Bride and Spy x Family, and the former for FLCL Progressive and Atom: The Beginning. In addition, Deko Akao wrote the show's scripts.
Reprinted from Pop Culture Maniacs and Wayback Machine. This was the forty-sixth article I wrote for Pop Culture Maniacs. This post was originally published on August 25, 2023.
The series itself has a strange origin. It is an adaption of a YouTube channel by Kizuna AI, a Japanese virtual YouTuber, known as VTuber. This has led to claims that the series is a "forced meme" or that it embodies the "artificiality of pop entertainment in Japan." Whether that is entirely true or not, the series clearly has some positives in its favor. Well-known studios are producing it. A scriptwriter (Akao) is known for her work on My Roommate Is a Cat and Komi Can't Communicate. One of the show's composers (Go Sakabe) composed the opening and closing songs for Gosick. The show's art director Masakazu Miyake worked on series such as Fate/Zero, Spy x Family, and Steins;Gate.
While saying all of this, I had serious reservations about Kizuna no Allele, regardless of whether it an attempt by Kizuna AI to revive her brand or not. For one, the musical sequences, reportedly resembling actual VTubers, seem awkward and strange. This is especially the case to those who don't watch that sort of content.
The main character, Miracle (voiced by Ayumi Hinohara) is not as sympathetic as she could be. She is trying everything she can to become a virtual artist/performer, i.e., a VTuber. She attends a school named Artist Garden (Aden) Academy dedicated to that goal. That school is almost equivalent to a school where people train  to be influencers on Instagram or a YouTuber. It is clearly absurd.
One character shines through: Noelle. Voiced by Yuka Nukui, she challenges Miracle, a huge fangirl of Kizuna, to be better. Both go to school in the virtual world. Possibilities are said to be limitless. At first, it appears that Noelle is bullying Miracle. It is later revealed that her family pressured her to be "the best."
Later, she becomes a mentor of sorts telling her to face songs head-on. She brings her to a room where bubbles light up different colors depending on the interaction. In a touching scene, she declares that if you understand a song's lyrics, it will come out differently. She encourages Kizuna to tap into her abilities.
She has stronger character development than Miracle. This truly begins in the show's fifth episode. Some painful history which weakens her emotional connection to her parents is implied. In a final scene, she declares that everything must be "perfect."
One parallel is Kōsei Arima in Your Lie in April. His mother gives him strict piano instruction. He is so scarred that after her death he stops playing piano since he can't hear sound when he plays. This series is different. Noelle is pressured by her parents (and sister) to be the best. However, she has the notion she must be "perfect," even though they never directly told her this. Miracle plays an important part in making Noelle a more whole person.
The series seems to be pro-A.I. An A.I. named Vaity wakes up Miracle in her swanky high-tech apartment every morning. The character, Chris, is hinted as A.I. before episode seven. Chris (voiced by Hikari Codama) is clearly crushing on Miracle, calling her cute and kissing her on the ear in the second episode. As such, the series is yuri-ish, as much as Ippon Again!. It isn't directly yuri like Yuri Is My Job!, Birdie Wing, or Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. The latter, not the former, makes the series enjoyable, including when Chris gives Miracle tips on how to improve her dancing.
The person in the atrium adds mystery to the series. This character eats neatly and drinks tea. In some ways, the character reminds me of Victorique de Blois in Gosick. He seems out of place since much of the series takes place in Aden Academy and like a character in another show. This is the case for a (different) character named marumaru. Miracle often uses marumaru as a pillow, with the latter calling the former "ordinary".
youtube
While the fact that there are contests and school administrators is consistent with other idol shows. What sets Kizuna no Allele apart is the direct mention and almost encouragement of A.I. In a post-credits scene in the third episode, there is a question about non-fungible tokens, known as NFTs. A simple explanation is provided. NFTs have clear copyright, storage, environmental, and security issues.
This is compounded by the fees charged and manipulation of NFT prices. Some have voiced concern that these tokens are pyramid/Ponzi schemes and pointed to financial uncertainty of the data files. They function like cryptographic tokens, but are not so-called "cryptocurrencies." This isn't mentioned at all. This led some to say the show is shilling for NFTs. In this series, A.I. tools rank V-Tubers. In the 11th episode, participants in a music festival get an event NFT as a prize.
This uncritical focus on A.I. stands in contrast to the omniscient, godlike A.I. as depicted in the six-part OVA named The Orbital Children. This series almost encourages creation of anime by A.I. The latter is not possible. A.I. tools like ChatGPT are "incapable of creating anything new." They can only pull in what already exists. Consider Angela Carpenter in Carole & Tuesday who works with Tao, a music producer who uses advanced A.I. to ensure performers are profitable. That plotline is better constructed than Miracle wanting to write her own lyrics rather than A.I. tools.
Other series are more critical of A.I. than Kizuna no Allele. The same can be said for Cleopatra in Space. It has a paranoid A.I. scared of ghosts, near PYRAMID Academy which generates electricity for the campus. Later, an evil A.I. named Cyrano created by Octavian tries to control one of the protagonists.
Star Trek: Lower Decks and Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur portray A.I. with more depth than anything this series has to offer. The former series has a malevolent computer A.I. in the second season. The latter has a "living" A.I. supercomputer and an entire episode on the dangers of A.I.
Otherwise, this series also reinforces, in many ways, expectations of idol femininity, even if it possibly subverts it. This isn't, necessarily unique, as those series within the Love Live! franchise, BanG Dream!, and If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die, to name a few of the over 90 idol anime and manga out there, do the same.
Undoubtedly the series has a strong animation style and intriguing designs. But, it isn't as nuanced as Do It Yourself!!, which gives the lesson that do-it-yourself (DIY) ethics can mesh with techno-optimism and technology. Instead, Kizuna no Allele appears to be taking the side of the tech bros who favor A.I., rather than approaching the topic in a more critical way. This is one of the many downfalls of this series, to build upon what I've mentioned earlier in this review.
Another one of the issues of Kizuna no Allele is that it took time for all those in the opening sequence of the series to have a significant role in the series. For instance, Riz (voiced by Arisa Hanawa) does not have much a role until later on in the series. In fact, she begins to get a spotlight in the end of episode eight, when she declares that she might have collected enough data as she rides on her fogelboard (a hoverboard-like device) catching the viewer's attention for the first time in the series.
The music in this series is only passable, apart from opening and closing sequences, by Ayato Fujiwara and MikitoP respectfully. While this is the first series Fujiwara has worked on, MikitoP has composed for Kochoki. Sometimes it feels like the V-Tuber music would be better to listen to than watch. The animation sequences with characters in V-Tuber form can look a bit ghoulish.
youtube
Apart from previous criticism of Kizuna no Allele, in terms of subpar music and positive views of A.I. (and presumably NFTs), there are some positives. For one, Noelle takes Miracle under her wing and teaches her the importance of music, while Miracle does the same for Noelle. In fact, in the show's sixth episode, she helps give Noelle the confidence to write her own song, and get beyond her previous dedication to be the best she can be, which even resulted in self-harm.
More importantly, Miracle, and the show itself, emphasize that you should follow your own goals, not those imposed on others, and that it more important to be someone you love than to be perfect. This emphasis on self-love allows Noelle to open up more to Miracle, resulting in her smiling, and laughing, for the first time in the series.
There is the continuing mystery of marumaru and Chris. The series, like Ippon Again, seems to be saying that hard work can pay off. That isn't always true. Furthermore, the animation of this series flows well and there are some cute scenes with Miracle, meaning that she is relatable.
In the seventh episode, Chris goes on a journey to find herself. Miracle and Noelle look at her previous streams to find out more about her. They become such good friends that Noelle finger-flicks Miracle on the forehead when she gets annoyed. This shows their connection between each other.
The importance of self-discovery fits with other themes in Kizuna no Allele. In episode seven, one of the best episodes in the series, there is an unsurprising revelation. Only half the students base their avatars on their real-life appearance. Chris seems to be a real-life student, but Miracle doesn't want to bother her.
This episode builds on previous plot development. Specifically, Chris is even more direct with her romantic feelings with Miracle, declaring she can only overcome obstacles with Miracle in a sort of love confession. She later adds that she wrote lyrics only thanks to Miracle, who says she wants to be better friends with Chris.
All of this interlinks to the growing camaraderie, by the seventh episode of Kizuna no Allele, between Chris, Noelle, Miracle, and even marumaru. Miracle is criticized by Noelle for "dragging" them down, as she hasn't produced original lyrics. Even so, Miracle still supports her. Almost akin to the sub-plot in Alice Gear Aegis Expansion, Principal of ADEN Academy reportedly has a devious, or evil, plan. One character says in the 11th episode they need to stop ADEN's plan. The academy is described as existing across the world and run by the ADEN Network.
Many loose ends are tied up in the eighth episode of Kizuna no Allele. At first, it seems like any other episode, with the video streams of Noelle and Chris. Miracle worries that she is falling behind in her rank and views. However, something important is revealed: marumaru is actually Quan (voiced by Rina Kawaguchi). Miracle has been confiding in marumaru since episode one. Only the audience knows they are the same. As such, it is clear Quan has been front and center the entire time. Miracle even states that marumaru is not boring or pathetic.
The 11th episode turns this on its head. Noelle, Riz, Miracle, and marumaru perform at the Shower of Sound festival. While they fail, marumaru feels that their present form isn't good. Even though Miracle says that marumaru doesn't need to change anything, they transform into Quan, their "true self." This Quan is not like the one in the aviary. Rather Quan is a girl who appears in the series' opening sequence. Quan in the "real world" is a mystery, but could be a trans girl who hasn't transitioned. If so, Quan would have similarities with Snapdragon in High Guardian Spice, a trans woman shown prior to transition.
youtube
One of the strangest parts of Kizuna no Allele were the post-credit scenes in V-Tuber style, described as "recommended videos". While some were on topics like drawing, design, food, in-universe trivia, or something else entirely, they pale in comparison to those primarily about Sakura's outfits in Cardcaptor Sakura and Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card.
A later episode features a competition where characters race on hoverboards. In the case of the former, Riz got a lot more airtime. She becomes a stronger character, sharing the lesson that you shouldn't spread fake news. It appears she has a crush on Miracle, saying Miracle really interests her. The comradeship between Riz, Miracle, and Miracle's other friends, makes the series that much more enjoyable.
Riz, who only wants to get better data and cares little about her rank, served as a vehicle for the story to push Miracle forward by stating that she should think for herself rather than relying on others. Predictably, this causes Miracle to post videos and people accuse her of "copying others". She gets so much negativity that she even thinks of quitting becoming a V-Tuber!
This anxiety she faces is nowhere near what a high school student, an owner of a popular cat on social media, experienced in the 10th episode of Too Cute Crisis. In the case of that series, she could more effectively deal with her anxiety by not desiring to keep every single picture perfect, drawing from the terrible blurry photographs taken by protagonist Liza Luna of her cat Yozora.
Coming back to Kizuna No Allele, I liked that Miracle's friends don't abandon her, but cheered her up. In fact, Riz states that Miracle shouldn't be dependent on her friends and should walk alongside them instead. This causes Miracle to declare she will express herself the best she can in the virtual world, showing her "true" self. She expresses this even more directly in the series finale, where she embraces the idea of them playing a collab concert so they can qualify for the Virtual Grid Awards (VGA)
Furthermore, this episode not only highlights the clash between Lapin d'Or Ada (who heads the VGAs) and ADEN Academy principal Auris (voiced by Masumi Tazawa), but the value of originality. For one, Lapin is concerned about collaborative concerts, feeling they are copying one another and look all the same. She changes the system so students aren't rewarded. Many students to abandon the idea as a result. The latter impacts the friends of Miracle. They believe that working individually is  "better." This quickly dissipates as each of them realizes their connection to her.
In a powerful end to Kizuna No Allele, Chris, Quan, Noelle, and Riz all sing and dance together with Miracle in a concert as PathTLive. The 3D animation of the concert isn't terrible. It is more passable than previous 3d V-Tuber videos in the series. The lesson in the episode is that connecting and inspiring others is a good thing. It can even allow people to overcome obstacles, as Miracle and her friend make their way into the top 15 qualifiers for the VGAs. The series ending leaves open the possibility of a second season. Although it appeared to be very unlikely, when I wrote an earlier draft of this review, it was reported that another season will be premiering in October!
On the other hand, the show is not critical, in any way, whatsoever, of the YTuber culture, equivalent to social influencers in the U.S. There are no episodes, like those in the first season of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder or Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur. Both focus on the dangers of online trolls and the power of a social media influencer. Instead, the videos have in-universe product placement. There is an advertisement for a bubble drink in one episode and an ad on the reported "value" of e-sports. Getting a high rank in the virtual world is indicated as important.
Such an emphasis reinforces the problematic idea the highly rated/ranked content is "good". In reality, this cannot be further from the truth. Even if a video has a lot of views, comments, and reactions, this doesn't mean that it is "good", as it can be actively harmful. Such content may not be to everyone's taste either. There can be "hidden gems" which don't get as much recognition. Although the show implies that Miracle's videos are awful, she is obsessed with getting a higher ranking, so she can compete in the virtual award competition.
While the series is watchable due to the interactions between Miracle and her friends, the yurish subtext, important of self-love and self-discovery, and sometimes absurd storylines, there are many issues. This includes non-existent criticism of VTubers, social media influencers, and A.I. Subpar music, lack of character development in the protagonist, and other problems are additional problems. Hopefully, a second season would fix these issues.
Kizuna no Allele is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.

The kids are on a field trip to a wedding venue when Daliah accidentally wandered into a bridal suite where the bride was fussing over her wedding and the brides maids were all worrying with her. She was found actually helping the bridal party with some wedding emergency kits she'd gotten as a little gift from her recent gig modeling as a flower girl for a bridal catalog.
Hikari went into the wedding too. And the bridesmaids all fawned over her cuteness

Hi!! I saw you opened the ship game, can I have one romantically with Enhypen?
I am 20 years old, not very tall (around 155 to 158cm, haven't measured in years but is around this), have shoulder lenght black hair and also black eyes, I am half japanese-half brazilian (but definitely look a lot more japanese than brazilian).
I am pretty introvert, my mbti is intj (never really learned about mbti but took the test cause my friends wanted me to do), not really a touchy person, I study eletrical engineering (cool course, but is destroying my last 2 braincels lol).
I tend to use all my time to study, so you probably will find my at my university library most of the time. I don't really go out a lot, but I like shopping (being online or in person, just like a day to relax looking at things that a normally don't buy). I really like reading books, I try to read at least 2 per month. Definitely not the best at handling feelings, still trying to work on this, my friends tend to say I am very serious but I think is just because I have a "cold" face.
That's all I could think of, also wanted to say that your reactions are really fun to read, looking forward for your futures ones!
Hikari 🦎
ahh, hiii thanks for sending in an ask! oh my goodness, electrical engineering? how is it? I've actually thought about taking that degree but I'm not entirely sure. and thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoy them! ^^
I ship you with Jake
Jake and you I feel like would get along so well. He would finally have someone he would be able to explain the theory of relativity to! haha but for real, I think you and him would have little study dates and share book recommendations and you could both rave about your favorite parts! ahhh it would be so cute!!

Jake shook his head as he walked into your school's library, looking at your face rested on top of all your homework, eyes closed. He pulled out the chair next to you and smiled at the small snores escaping your lips. You had texted him in the late evening, telling him you were studying and he just knew that you were going to stay way later than you should so he came to pick you up even though it was well past midnight.
Not wanting to disturb your sleep, he put his elbow in the table and laid his head on his hand, just watching you.
"Don't take the cookie, Jake or I swear I will-" Your head jolted up and Jake couldn't help but laugh as you looked at him confusedly.
"What were you dreaming about? I wouldn't steal your cookie." He joked.
"What are you doing here?"
He scoffed, "I came to pick you up. Look at you sleeping in the library. You could catch a cold or worse, someone could be here and do something to you while you're sleeping."
"Um...Who else would be here at this hour?"
"Hikari...there are more crazy people like you in this world." he pinched your nose bride, "Now, let's go get some ramen at the convivence store then I'll take you home." He said, standing up from the chair.
"Ramen at this-"
"Don't tell me it's unhealthy to eat this late when you were studying here at what hour?" He interrupted you, not wanting to hear your nagging about eating late, "Pick up your stuff and let's go!"
"Okay okay, I get it! College is just tough and I really want to get good grades."
"I know." He took your hand, "Let's study together tomorrow, hm? But you need energy to study, right?" He reasoned with you.
"Right... You laughed. You couldn't have asked for a better boyfriend.

She moves the same way stars dance in the night Chapter 11: Trading stories
An extract : We keep our gaze ahead, the owls are louder as the moon becomes the brightest it has been tonight. The Princess edges her hand close to mine, her little finger stretched out. I curl mine around hers, mimicking the many days we made promises as children.
“There is some comfort in knowing that in another lifetime, we'd still choose each other despite the odds,” this private thought heard by an audience of only her ears has me coloured with the hues of a rose. “And past our time together, you're trying everything you could do to secure a path for us.”
“The witchly version of me is a fighter it seems,” the Princess says with a spark in her eyes.
“I didn’t get to thank you for your time today,Lord Ishida.” “I’m simply upholding my duties,Your Highness,” I utter, even with the intimacy of this night, I insist on putting forth the titles that divide us. “Perhaps if you were to train me so well,Prince Sora would be afraid to have me as his bride,” the Princess jests. “What a cowardly prince he would be if that be the reason,” I remark, tightening our little fingers as if this is how we can stay together, just the two of us and the promises we’ve yet to make from our hearts. “You’re at fault too. For writing such a letter,” she says with a slight tremble, then her tone follows the firmness of the vast seas. The Princess rests her head against my shoulder, and this moment becomes our eternity;solidifying itself in our memory. I turn my head slightly, daring for my parted lips to brush against the crown of the Princess’s head. “You're a princess to the world, but you'll always be the queen of my heart,” I whisper to Hikari.
“You're not being fair…my Lord,” I watch as her skin colours itself with the same hues of that rose.”But I wasn’t being fair either when I said you’re my lord.” “I pray to a higher being and follow your brother’s commands,” I breathe in the scent of her hair as the Princess tilts her head slightly as we lock eyes, “But you’re the only one I’ll bow to.” “My Lord, these nights and seconds spent together have pieces of us written all over it. Right now,a part of me lives in your heart as you do in mine,” the Princess says with grace. “But even during the days and hours we spend apart, I have told the stars to shower you with the love I cannot give in person.”
“Do we have any more news on my brother’s coronation?” she shifts the conversation into something else. “I know just as much as you do, Your Highness,” I answer. “It’s drawing so close.” The owls abruptly shriek and another flurry of winged creatures passes us. Hikari gasps. Her little finger uncurls itself from mine, the texture of the hollow log beneath us is replaced by a stone chair; and my heart sinks knowing this is another Hikari that an older Yamato has loved.
“Can’t you read a room?” I exhale deeply with the utmost frustration.
The witchly Hikari glides to a corner of the ill-lit room, gesturing to a pot of a warm beverage. I declined her hospitality during this vicious visit.
“Could you imagine if you were on that throne, the eldest son destined to rule,” she proposes this alternate lifetime. “And the status of your families have swapped, the house of Yagami nobles were indebted to the royal Ishidas. Would you change the rules, and take Hikari as your queen?”
I don’t answer her, because this hypothetical had never once crossed my mind, and fathoming it now would be lunacy.
“Well isn’t that the thing about new humans? You faithfully follow the rules of your long, gone elders who couldn’t care less about you,” the witchly Hikari continues. “Why,I studied witchcraft with my lost brother. The art of the devil as old wives called it.”

Jdorama 2023 Spring
Kyojo 0 (12.1) / 教場0風間公親 Stars: Kimura Takuya and others
I’ve been looking forward to this drama even before it screened 🙈 I LOVED the SPs. The format of the series looks like it's different. The SPs intercut between several key characters, forcing you to keep track of several narrative threads at once, meaning it's a bit of a cognitive challenge to stay alert for the whole 4 hours, but it's also a format I quite enjoyed because the interactions between students are key to the story. The series seems to go the classic episodic police procedural route. The opening episode has Akaso Eiji and none of the other big names, and I wonder if this means the students won't interact.
Sometimes the messaging in the SP is a bit murky, but the first episode managed well. Kazama quickly picks apart several flaws that makes Urihara a dangerous policeman: not noticing key details, jumping to conclusions, thinking he can talk someone into a confession without having enough evidence, lying to a suspect about key evidence, precipitating a young child's asthma in order to get the father to confess.
Ultimately, Kyoujo is supposed to be a crime solver and not commentary on the police system, but I do find the reflections on ethics interesting. The situations are ethically ambiguous, and the series rarely offers a "model answer", but what it does is to tease out the biases individual policemen can bring to their work and how that could lead to harm...and I think that's a very worthwhile examination.
Watashi no Oyome-kun / My Mr. Bride / わたしのお嫁くん Stars: Haru, Takasugi Mahiro
Haru is seriously getting typecast in these OL dramas...and the personalities are all kind of the same. Based on manga, this is about a woman who is excellent at her work and a man who is excellent at housework, and how they, presumably, live together in subversion of traditional Japanese gender roles.
There's been quite a few dramas lately about career women who can't manage housework finding a male partner who is good at it. It's interesting to watch the progression of the attitude through the years - when Nodame Cantabile and Hotaru no Hikari screened back maybe 10 years ago, Nodame's messiness was a tool for humour, and Hotaru's lack of grooming AT HOME was treated self-deprecatingly as laziness. In Watashi no Kaseifu Nagisa-san from 2020, though, while there was some comedy in Mei's messiness, it was much more matter-of-fact about the fact that yes, as a full-time (+overtime), high-achieving, hard-working career woman, she couldn't also attend to her domestic cleaning, and compromises had to be made.
And this drama continues that trend and is a little more frank about the discussions. Why should a woman who is good at her sales job - by regularly preempting and meeting customer expectations - be constantly told that she would make a good bride instead of being appreciated for being an excellent sales rep? Why should a woman feel like being a good housewife is the lifetime achievement rather than being good at her job? Why should a two-income household where both partners hold demanding jobs expect the housework to fall onto the woman?
This is supposed to be a romcom, so inevitably amatonormativity doesn't come into the discussions (especially since Japan wants to increase its marriage and birth rates). But to do that, Japanese culture is likely to need an overhaul on its gender roles, especially as more and more women find that they are more fulfilled by staying in the workforce than marrying off to become a housewife, where they get no respect, no social contact and a husband who has no appreciation of how much work they do.

Come Home to my Heart (3/6)
- Part 4/? of A Girl out of Time (Adaman x OC)
Read the series here/background context on Ao3
All works (including art) will be/are crossposted to Tumblr!
------------------------------
By the end of the day, Hikari would officially belong to the Diamond Clan as Adaman’s wife.
Although she’d been engaged to him for a couple of months now, everything became real the moment she sat on the floor of Arezu’s hut so her friend could gussy her up a little before she donned her ceremonial robes.
“You’re very quiet,” Arezu commented as she thoroughly combed through Hikari’s long, flaxen hair—previously lathered and rinsed with various oils to bring out its shine. “Pre-wedding jitters?”
“I guess you could say that,” the bride-to-be answered with a small smile, and stared towards her knees. “…If I tell you something, do you promise to keep it between us?”
“Only if I’m to be in on it, as well,” came the voice of Mai, who entered the vicinity without warning. “Hopefully you’re not having second thoughts about marrying my brother?”
“No, nothing like that,” Hikari was quick to intercept, shaking her head. “I… I overheard some gossip when I was headed this way. Seems not everyone is pleased with the idea of me marrying Adaman and they made sure I was aware of it.”
“Ah, that lot,” Arezu sighed, scooting around to start applying a light charcoal to her eyes. “Our leader is considered quite the catch amongst the clan members of his age; always has been. Some actually care for his well-being, but others just want to be on his arm as co-leader. I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them never let you live this down, given you’re an outlander.”
“Great…” Hikari groaned, pulling her knees into her chest despite Arezu’s huff of protest. “I don’t… I don’t want to cause any problems for Adaman. I love him more than life itself, but…”
“Then that’s all that matters,” Mai cut in, her words holding a finality to them. When she approached Hikari and Arezu, the former noticed the bundle of material she was carrying—her wedding attire. “What Arezu failed to mention-“ Mai continued, shooting the redhead a look, “-is the fact that you can count on your fingers the number of people who oppose this union; and surprisingly Melli isn’t among them. Which means: you have the support of everyone that actually matters.”
“Wait. Melli supports us?” Hikari questioned, genuinely shocked. Both Mai and Arezu smiled at her dumbfounded expression.
“You make Adaman happy, and at the end of the day that’s all Melli wants for him, despite how much of a pain he can be about it,” Mai explained. Hikari was humbled by that, weirdly enough, and a small, relieved smile rose on her cheeks.
“Alright, enough of the somber talk—I need to finish your makeup,” Arezu cheerily piped in, immediately setting to work again.
“And I’ll assist with your robes as soon as she’s satisfied,” followed Mai with a wink. “You’re going to look so gorgeous, Hikari. Adaman is practically vibrating out of his skin in anticipation. The pre-ceremony rites and what have you are only doing so much in distracting him.”
“Sounds like Adaman,” Hikari laughed. “Though… I actually almost fell asleep during my purification cleanse this morning. So I’m not much better.”
“I suppose it’s not a common practice in the future, then?” Mai asked with a humored expression.
“In some places it still is, but overall, no,” Hikari answered, and shrugged. “But, I really don’t mind it. I’m marrying into your clan, after all. I want to be respectful of your traditions.”
“Well, you and Adaman haven’t exactly been conventional, so it probably wouldn’t have been a big deal if you’d skipped a few steps,” Arezu said flippantly, and tapped a bit of coral rouge on her lips. “For both the Diamond and Pearl clans, usually a pair of fathers would’ve arranged the union after a period of camaraderie and the formal exchanging of gifts. However, Adaman’s father passed when he was just a babe; and yours…”
“My father was never in the picture,” Hikari quietly supplied, and began playing with her hair (to her friend’s chagrin). “That being said, there obviously isn’t a means of him being here; so ultimately it wouldn’t have mattered.“
Knowing they’d be curious about the inevitable, she added, “I do wish my mother were here. As well as my friends from that era. But… I had already made my peace with all of that when I decided to stay. I have all of you, and I have Adaman. I’m ready for my life here in Hisui to truly begin.”
----------------------------------------
Adaman was already kneeling at the relic to Dialga in the center of the settlement when Hikari, now donning her wedding attire, exited Arezu’s hut. The remainder of the clan, as well as everyone she and Adaman had invited from Jubilife Village and the Pearl Clan, were dispersed in various spots around him. Despite having his back to her, she noted that he too had been clothed in robes similar to her own, and that he wore a headdress resembling Dialga’s horns.
As she studied her betrothed, the crowd beyond her became aware of her presence and shifted their attention to her—a vast majority wearing joyful smiles. Being his impatient self, Adaman also whipped his head around to get a glance at her, and his jaw nearly hit the floor. It gave her the boost of confidence she hadn’t realized she needed in that moment, and she beamed at him.
That’s when Mai placed a hand on her back, and gently pushed her towards her destination, while Arezu took her place amongst the others. It wasn’t long before Hikari was at Adaman’s side, and she somehow managed to kneel next to him without tripping over her robes.
“You know, normally I’d be the one to officiate the ceremony, but it seems I’m a little preoccupied at the moment,” he quietly told her as though they weren’t about to be wed. Hikari appreciated the casual banter though, and she snorted under her breath.
“I suppose it’s a good thing you have Mai as backup, hm?” she asked, playing along.
“Indeed,” he agreed, finally turning to look at her properly. “Just look at you. I don’t believe I’ve ever encountered a more beautiful sight in my life.”
“Adaman…” she shyly uttered, and couldn’t help the smile that bloomed on her rosy cheeks. When he offered her his hand, she took it, and he laced their fingers together.
“Forgive me if I seem a little nervous—if someone told me two years ago that an outlander from the sky would not only save my homeland, but also eventually become my wife, I likely would’ve thought them mad. It’s all just a bit… surreal,” Adaman confessed, looking sheepish.
“It’s bewildering for me as well, Adaman,” Hikari soothed, squeezing his hand. “But… all weddings are, right? It’s quite the life-changing event, after all. Even if our circumstances are a bit out of the ordinary.”
Her fiancé chuckled, and brought her hand to his lips. “Always the voice of reason. Thank Mighty Dialga you agreed to be mine.”
“Ahem,” Mai interrupted from where she stood in front of them, having had to witness their not-so-private conversation. “I know you two are in your own little world right now, but we do have onlookers present. Shall we begin?”
“Of course,” Adaman answered, and sent a wink Hikari’s way, who just giggled.
Mai began the ceremony then; recounting from various scrolls the Diamond Clan’s teachings about marriage, it’s sanctity, and how it correlated to Mighty Dialga (and ultimately Almighty Sinnoh). She had Adaman recite a series of vows as old as the existence of their people, and then Hikari recited her own to the best of her abilities. When that was finished, the couple partook in the pouring and drinking of sake, officiating their union to all who were present.
And just like that, they were husband and wife. Mai happily announced them as such as they turned to face the crowd, and almost everyone broke into cheers. Some even began bawling outright. Hikari felt her own eyes starting to blur with tears as reality set in, but Adaman was quick to reach over and dab them away with his sleeve.
“Hey… you okay?” he cooed for her ears alone, and then Hikari actually did cry.
“I-I’m fine. I am,” she hiccuped, and smiled as Adaman tenderly cupped her face between his palms. “I-I’m just… happy.”
“As am I, my light from the sky. The happiest I’ve ever been,” he softly uttered, his expression one of pure adoration. And then he kissed her; not minding one bit that all of their guests were still present.

The feast that followed was one for the books. Not only were platters of meats, potato mochi, and various other dishes abundant, but the wine also flowed freely amongst a majority who attended, and it showed as the celebration continued into the early hours of the morning.
Once Hikari had had her fill of being yanked around for gifts, sips of liquor, and the occasional group dance, she wandered off towards the edge of the Diamond Settlement for a breather. Adaman, noticing her absence almost immediately, wasn’t far behind.
“Needed a moment?” he asked, attempting to adjust his lopsided headdress but quickly giving up. Hikari laughed, and reached up to help him.
“Our loved ones sure know how to have a good time—unfortunately I wasn’t much of a party-goer in my original era. Do you think everyone’s drunk enough at this point to not notice me slip away for a few hours of sleep?”
“Possibly,” Adaman chuckled. “Might I join you in our home, if you’re not tired of me yet?”
Hikari felt a little thrill at the way he uttered our home,  and slid her arms over his shoulders. “I’ll never tire of you, husband,” she whispered, then leaned up on her toes and kissed his smiling lips with her own.
“Ah, I do hope I’m not interrupting anything—seems I’ve arrived at the peak of the celebration,” came a gentle voice from behind the couple, who parted only to acknowledge whoever had stumbled upon them.
“Mistress Cogita?” Hikari squeaked in surprise, staring at the mysterious older woman (who still wore black tulle despite being at a wedding) as she floated gracefully towards them. Tucked under her arm was a box with frilly ribbon tied around it.
“Hello, dears,” Cogita greeted properly, and did a little bow. “My most heartfelt congratulations to you both on your marriage; I suppose it won’t be long now before we see little blue-and-blonde haired babies toddling about the Crimson Mirelands, hm?”
“I-well, I… uh-“ Adaman sputtered, turning a deep shade of red, and looked to Hikari for help despite his wife’s abrupt coughing fit. Cogita just broke down into laughter at their reactions.
“Oh, you two are just adorable! I couldn’t help teasing you, my apologies,” she chortled, dabbing at her tears of mirth with a handkerchief. “Despite my antics, I promise I am here for a reason,” she insisted, and held out the box she carried towards Hikari.
“Oh! Uh…” the other woman floundered, then reached out and carefully took the gift into her arms, which wasn’t very heavy despite its longer size.
“I’ll have you open it now, if you don’t mind. I’d love to stay for the remainder of the party, but I’m afraid I’m not much for socialization these days,” Cogita told her, eyes expectant. As per the elder’s wishes, Hikari began undoing the ribbon covering the box, only to remove the lid situated on top. Her eyes widened at what she saw sitting within—for staring her straight in the face was the symbol representing Arceus.
“Allow me,” Cogita offered, and pulled out the object, which turned out to be a white, long-sleeved gown reminiscent of the garb Volo had worn while wielding Giratina. The symbol of Arceus Hikari had previously observed was embroidered into the front of the garment, towards the hem.
It was rather lovely; but even still, Hikari looked at Cogita in confusion. Her husband, still studying the gown, was faring no better.
“You belong to the people of Dialga now, but the true Almighty Sinnoh has yet to be properly disclosed to all within the region. I had hoped that you, as its chosen, would continue what the people of Celestica could not, and be that source of knowledge as it is needed,” the older woman explained, then sighed. “I’ve tried many a time over these long years. I have. But with you—you who are actively leading Hisui towards a brighter future—I do believe they’ll listen.”
“Cogita…” Hikari muttered, speechless, and the older woman came forward, placing the gown in her arms.
“You are as much of Celestica as I, found one. And for that, I give you my blessing,” she spoke warmly into Hikari’s ear, then patted at the girl’s hand as she pulled away. “Well, I best be off now; I’ll let you two get back to your canoodling.”
“Madam!” Adaman practically screeched, once again red in the face, and Cogita let out a loud cackle.
“Honestly, my boy, you’re so easy to fluster!” she managed between puffs of laughter. Waving at them both as she walked away, she called out, “Take care, my dears! Until our paths cross again!” before seemingly disappearing through the trees.

7. Postlude-Fiancailles Ⅱ-
Their wedding was thrown with such joy that all night long the king and guests celebrated with smiles on their faces. No demon or curse could tear these two ones apart. With love overflowing from their hearts, they lived happily ever after.
---
So yea, this is the rare Ariabl’eyeS album that actually has a happy ending. I for one could not be any more shocked by this. Still: what the hell happened. Did they really just pray it all away and true love worked it’s magic? That’s honestly a bit underwhelming for me, like it really isn’t much of a “story”. But hey, at least the music is really good, I’d say kuroki fiansaiyu really takes the cake, the bridge is surprisingly funky and I really like it.

Hello! I hope you’re doing well today! I saw you reblog the Digimon ask game, and I had to ask you these:
What is a digimon headcanon that lives in your head rent-free? Who is your favorite antagonist? Which digimon would you want as your partner?
Answer as many and as little as you want! Have fun!!
Hi Sluggy! So happy to see your message in my askbox ^^ I hope you're doing well and healthy and happy as well!
For the head-canon, I wrote up a Hikari one for @digitalworldbound. but I'll jot down a few Sora ones for you :) I hope you enjoy them:
Sora volunteered to design all the Chosen bride's traditional wedding kimono. Some Chosen, like Mimi, bought a Western dress in addition to Sora's traditional kimono, but others, like Hikari, was so honoured to wear Sora's design that they opted to have Sora's kimono as their only outfit for their special day
When Sora first started out as a fashion designer, Mimi used her platform as a media influencer to promote Sora's products. Mimi would sell Sora's clothes on her website, and Sora in turn would have Mimi's products in her small boutique.
After marrying and having children, Sora and her family decides to settle in Kyoto. Kyoto's traditional setting offered the perfect inspiration for her work, and she eventually opened up a widely successful boutique there. Her store is decked out with her own flower arrangements, and although they're not for sell, clients and customers will ask about buying them while visiting the stores and some has commissioned her to design flowers for their weddings and parties!
Speaking of flower arrangements, Sora continues to enter competitions and art shows throughout her life, but more out of leisure. She loves arranging flowers more than fashion design, but ultimately decided not to pursue it as a career because she would rather hold onto it as a hobby and passion, because associating it with the drudgery of work could be unpleasant, and she feared that she would lose touch with her flowers if she does
Digimon antagonist I had answered @reliablejoukido here (spoiler: it's Ken :P)
Which Digimon would I want as a partner?
Most definitely Patamon!

Tickets now on sale for stream concert
Finally, tickets are now on sale for my stream concert that will be online on June 25, which I’ve been preparing for during... I guess this past half year?
This concert titled ‘History of my pieces’ brings together only the works I’ve written as tie-in projects, like character songs or ending themes for games and animated series, and I made those into a concert.
I feel like I finally got to answer all the requests I’ve received so far, going ‘I’d love to hear you sing this song!’.
KOKIA fans.
Anime fans.
Game fans.
Fans from an unseen future.
This is a chance for me to make all your wishes of ‘I’d like to hear that song!’ come true in one concert, so I’d be happy if you watched it and shared with many other people that ‘this concert exists’.
Of course, many of the songs I hadn’t sung live before. But on a personal note, there are still people who tell me they’ve gotten to know about KOKIA through some songs despite me having sung them before I even debuted, like the song ‘For little tail’ which I sang for the game Tail Concerto. And then, there are songs that I got to write for soundtracks of which I personally feel that both the song and the work really match me in every sense, like ‘Seimei no mai~Dance of the spirit’ from the TV anime The Ancient Magus’ Bride, as well as songs I found out that I would have loved to have had a much earlier chance for to perform them on stage. All in all, it’s a concert which I hope all my fans can enjoy, through whichever one of those works they’ve gotten to know me.
And so, without further ado, allow me to announce the song list of the performance!
The regular digital tickets can be purchased here.

Now aware he appeared both in her universe and Trigger's, she asks if he's appeared elsewhere, Ediom shows her Victory, Ginga Hikari, Ace and the Leo Brothers fighting Yapool's scheme with the Victorium, and then shows another example, besides Barabas, of Yapool's grudge against the Ultra living on beyond him, first with Victory Killer, then with Ace Killer (BS), one of the robots controlled by Beatstat against Ultimate Force Zero, alongside King Joe (BS) and Imperiliser (BS), followed by Fukuide Kei using Ace Killer to become Thunder Killer. Geed data is added to the STORAGE Key, and as it is discussed that Yapool will always return as long as it's grudge continues, Yuka contemplates the horror of one battle that will never end.

Spanner is ready to kill Clotho, but Lachesis stands in the way and insists he not treat them as monsters, and Minato has to use an escape technique before Spanner seriously considers killing Lachesis. To make up the club numbers, non-high schoolers Sabimaru and Renge are also recruited. After Mikuriya explains the plot, Hotaro's mother naturally assumes Kudoh will be Juliet, but then Seina arrives, and brings up with her her childhood promise to help Hotaro's bride some day, insisting that is still her goal, though she claims it is a joke. Renge and Sabimaru can see the power of this combination, and Kudoh, her heart hurting, leaves. Atropos, considering her captive Chemies, use BlizzaMoth to turn her combined brothers into a Malgam. Kudoh sits alone, trying to process her feelings, when Seina approaches, wanting to clear the air, by asking if she is dating Hotaro, having spotted their matching rings and learnt from classmates that they hang out alot. Kudoh confirms they aren't dating, delivering Seina, but Atropos appears, mocks Kudoh for going back to her old unconfident self, and presents her Malgam. Kudoh has Seina run but Atropos chains her, saying she'll kill her for being in Rinne's way. Rinne denies it, only to realise she recall is jealous, and seeing this Seina believes she wanted this before being frozen. Atropos aims to kill Rinne to, who fights as Madjade as she recalls all her bottled up feelings of the past days, making her struggle to fight. Geats Extra: Gazer: Niram is recreated in the future and greeted by Ziin, but his memories need to reinitialise. With Samas by his side, for his first DGP as Producer he decided to go to 1500AD Japan, feeling the Sengoku Era will be the perfect backdrop. They enlist sponsors, choose a Game Master, identify the audience's chosen Riders, and meet ling serving navigator Miiru. Miiru takes Niram out to experience Reality, and he eats for the first time, gaining an appreciation for Reality. He also meets his predecessor, original Producer Nemel, but after a meeting with Archimedel, where we learn Nemel has been having him mutate them to grow stronger using the ID Codes, Nemel is summoned to Suel, who dismisses him for his unauthorised actions, when Nemel feels he is most responsible for the DGP success. Nemel proceeds to let slip to Samas about the Navigators being incarnations of Mitsume to create a new Goddess, and decides to create a Jyamato God of Destruction. Before going to recruit Ziin's chosen Rider, a swordman, Miiru tells Niram how she has come to feel for all the Riders, not just the winners, recognising they are not just their entertainment but real people. Nemel kills the candidate and abducts her. Samas informs Niram of Miiru's disappearance, and Suel saying if Nemel acts out further to delete him. Before Nemel can feed Miiru to a Jyamato, Niram and Samas arrive. After e brief swordfight, Niram has his first injury and relays Nemel in kind, embracing Reality while Nemel dismisses it as Fiction. With a Zillion Driver, Nemel becomes Gazer Zero, opposing Gazer. As they fight, Miiru attempts to escape, but is eaten by the Jyamato, shaking Gazer enough he is almost defeated until Ziin arrives, angered by his candidates' murder, and holds Gazer Zero off, allowing Gazer to kill the Jyamato before joining forces to defeat Gazer Zero. Archimedel watches Nemel fade, before finding a mutated Jyamato seed, unaware it contains Miiru's goddess power, and decides to cultivate it. Niram creates Navigator:Tsumuri, and has her join him for Dango before starting work, having recognised from Miiru that the one who watches over their wishes should understand their Reality. His memories restored, Niram and Ziin are then made aware of a powerful Jyamato somehow rampaging in DGP HQ, Niram fears it may be Nemel's God of Destruction. Ziin is destroyed, before God of Creation Ace appears next to Niram, saying there is one way to end this destruction, which Niram acknowledges, sending him back to the past.
