no, no she can’t admit it. riley’s simply not ready to let go of her fairytale ideals right now. to break down to the lower expectations she was ‘supposed’ to have. the dark haired teenager has been doing a lot of growth as time passes, as they get through high school, but she’s simply not there. “ i’m sorry maya ” she says softly, kissing the blonde lightly on the cheek. “ i have to go to the tryouts. i don’t care if i fall down and break my ankle or whatever everyone thinks is going to happen ” she wanted this way more than anyone gave her credit for. riley was sixteen now, and was going to do the stunts, make the team for real. who cares if it was an idealistic, stupid high school fantasy for the ‘superklutz’ to be a varsity cheerleader, she had this dream, and she had to make it happen. “ i love you peaches, and i know you want what’s best for me, but i’m doing this, even if it’s by myself ”

no matter where she ended up , she was a queen in her own right . aelin stood just like any monarch would , with poise and grace , however in aelin’s case , there was a silver blade straight down the back of her dress , laid along her spine with enough space for easy release if the time came . there was nothing to her anymore , no scars , no proof of the trials she had been through , a fresh start some would say , a terrifying beginning she would whisper afterwards . “ 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐝𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐜 . ” it reminded her of adarlan before the fall of the towers .

Most of his life, he was labeled and ostracized wherever he went. new kid. orphan. asshole. at this point he had to expect it, to ignore it all and push forward. But that was the cost of friendship he supposed, trying to be more self aware and empathetic. “Please tell me what tactics you would use, Timmy. Because I’m...I’m lost.” Man, did it wound his pride to admit that.
