#random personal stuff #I get it everyone in church wants to fuss over the babies #who are very cute and I'm glad that they're loved! they should be! #but I'd like to put in a good word *also* for a group who tend to get overlooked and undervalued #and that's older kids #once you get past baby age in the church circles I'm familiar with #you are no longer an object of adoration and are now a nuisance a burden and a problem that needs to be suppressed and contained #parents will openly complain about them and heaven forbid anyone reach adolescence because then they're regarded as next-door to a monster #and not many people are really listening to older kids or thinking about what they might need as human beings #which is connection and knowing that people give a darn about them personally #and don't just see them as something to be 'kept busy' or as free labor/babysitting for younger nuisances #I have the most interesting conversations with these kids #they're bright and hilarious and passionate about all kinds of things #and they're dealing with more than most adults seem to realize or take seriously #I remember being that age very vividly and the adult whom I wanted to be around the most was my aunt whenever she visited #because she actually took the time to listen to me and put up my jawing about [current obsession] #probably took a lot of patience on her part but I appreciated it so much #it made me feel like I mattered #sometimes the kids at church will talk to me and I want to be for them the kind of adult my aunt was for me #they ARE worth listening to! #everybody at every stage of life is worth caring about

okay so here's my fix it hot take for the lion switching ( because the lion switching is stupid )

keith never pilots black on that planet after the corrupted wormhole. black moves on her own after keith yells at her (because that's what he does lol) to not just sit and watch her paladin get killed

when shiro actually goes missing NO ONE is accepted by the black lion. she sits in the hangar, immobile.

keith stays in red

lance stays in blue.

no one else can pilot the lions except for their specific paladins, a dime in a dozen. their quintessence simply could not handle it. their entire being could not handle it if they arent specifically molded to fit the quintessence of the lions--like their paladins are.

the four paladins have to work tirelessly to fight without voltron and without the black lion. because it makes it more interesting when they just dont have someone. if theres always a backup to the paladins--if their position can always be easily replaced-- then theres really no actual importance of the paladins.

This little dog has been through such incredible transformations, I'm frankly amazed she ended up not only looking like a perfectly normal elderly MinPin (she went from obese when she arrived at the shelter to being no more than a skeleton when she arrived in my sister's care, and I think the time between those 2 things wasn't very long) but also has evolved from a little snapping monster to an overall friendly (albeit quirky - and she does have some spice left in her if you force something onto her that she doesn't want, but you get my drift), people loving cuddle bug who happily sleeps on strangers laps and loves pets.

The transformation between the last two pics was so gradual that I didn't even really notice it until I looked at the older pics. At the time I really wasn't sure if her back would ever straighten again, I certainly wouldn't have been surprised had it stayed somewhat deformed, but it did. Just incredible what she has turned into if you compare it with older pictures! And once again, what a difference a fitting environment makes for a traumatized soul such as her.

Granted, she walks kind of funnily and has certain balance/ coordination issues (may or may not be caused by knee issues), but she looks pretty normal now and it's amazing.

hunter has his beak in luz’s milkshake, though he lifts his head and uses a wing to brush some of the dessert off his face. luz and mari have departed to the bathroom, and flapjack stayed back at the old house, so right now it’s just the two of them. alma’s sat in amity’s lap as a cat because apparently human-world fish need to breathe water, so it’s the best they can do.

“i don’t know what you mean, blight,” hunter says with an upturn of his head.

amity scoffs, alma rumbling uneasy against her chest. “i mean i’m dating luz, not you. can’t you stay behind at least once?”

hunter’s feathers puff out and he looks over towards the way luz left, talons rapping against the wood table. amity fixes her hands in her palisman’s fur—alma’s tense, but this way they can share it between each other.

when hunter looks back at her there’s something intense in his eyes.

“i don’t exactly want to be on a date with you, either,” he says, and he glances down, tracing something into the wood, “believe me. but…”

he shudders.

“i’m not going anywhere,” is what he says, and amity wants to seethe, but his voice trembles and she can’t, exactly. “so you’d better get used to it.”

oh my god i forgot i actually wrote a sketch for this but it is my favorite fucking thing EVER thank you so much for asking for it. where to even begin there is SO MUCH HERE.

so. s3 luz n hunter spend most of the time sort of feeling like they're the same person. they tend to stick together a lot, yeah? like, to the human-realm at large, luz and hunter are presenting as a human-daemon pair, because luz needs to pretend she's still settled, and hunter is the only one who can change into the needed form. and because of that they spend an insane amount of time together and bleed into each other a lot and that is SO WEIRD FOR EVERYONE ELSE.

thus amity like. i love my girlfriend so much but holy shit i cannot deal with hunter on All Of Our Dates. i still dont know how this resolves--personhood is really squishy in daemon aus as i like to write them, and like. hunter and luz arent WRONG in sort of seeing themselves as the one person across four bodies. but there are still those distinctions--hunter is not dating amity. but he is tagging along on all of her + luz's dates.

basically holy shit it is SO messy so weird and nobody really knows how theyre supposed to like. help luz n hunter through this bc the two of them are Not telling the others like any of their shit lol.
