one of my favorite little filmmaking moments in succession was when shiv went to kendall’s office after her town hall humiliation. the way the light reflected on the door made it look like she was opening a door to a free fall into the river, emphasizing further how she felt. the she enters the office and nothing happens. cathy yan did a fantastic job with this episode.

What makes the marvels hate even more frustrating is that people aren't just giving black and brown superheroines a chance but they also won't give female directors of color a chance. First Cathy Yan, then Chloe Zhao and now Nia DaCosta, and yet directors like Joss Whedon and James Gunn still get praised for their involvement in superhero films

So yeah qwhite interesting how comic book fans refuse to show up for female directors of color.

Nia DaCosta and Birds of Prey anon again, i finally saw the Marvels! Loved it, but i have to say i liked birds of prey a little bit more. I think it’s because you can see that it’s a Nia DaCosta movie, but that she didn’t have 100% creative freedom since it still has to fit the Marvel style. I hope she gets the chance to do another action movie, were she is 100% in charge. And another horror movie, because i really really loved her candyman.

ok I'm so sorry but I think you're mistaken about BoP being a Nia Dacosta movie. Cathy Yan directed BoP not Nia.

But still I think they're comparable movies in the sense that both were boycotted by white men.

Also I would have appreciated a longer running time on the Marvels because like the few deleted scenes I've found on tumblr it really looks like they left some gems out of the movie!
