Hounds are consistently associated with gods, goddesses, and heroes. Symbols of courage and loyalty, hounds, were offered as gifts to honorable men. In ancient Celtic Ireland, many chiefs and warriors adopted the name “Hound” as a title to demonstrate bravery and devotion

Imbolc Altar Ideas & Correspondences
Tumblr media
Imbolc, also known as Candlemas or Brigid's Day, marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox. It's a time to celebrate the returning light and the awakening of the Earth.
Altar Decorations:
Candles: Imbolc is strongly associated with the element of fire. Decorate your altar with candles in shades of white, yellow, and light blue to represent the increasing daylight.
Brigid's Cross: Craft or purchase a Brigid's Cross, a traditional symbol associated with the Celtic goddess Brigid. Hang it on your altar as a protective charm.
Seasonal Flowers: Place early spring flowers like snowdrops, crocuses, and daffodils on your altar. These symbolize the first signs of life returning to the land.
Herbs: Incorporate herbs such as rosemary, thyme, and cinnamon for their purifying and invigorating properties. Bundle them together with a red or white ribbon.
Seeds: Represent the potential for growth by adding a dish of seeds to your altar. Consider seeds associated with early spring crops like wheat or herbs.
Imbolc Symbols: Include symbols like lambs, ewes, and the sun to capture the essence of this seasonal transition.
Candle Holders: Choose unique candle holders or lanterns to enhance the ambiance. Consider using candle holders in the shape of suns, stars, or nature-inspired designs.
Divination Tools: Add divination tools like tarot cards or runes to your altar for seeking guidance during this transitional period.
Symbolic Stones: Integrate crystals such as citrine for abundance, aquamarine for clarity, and moonstone for intuition. Arrange them aesthetically around your altar.
Feathers: Symbolizing air and spirituality, feathers can be incorporated to invoke the energy of the season. Choose feathers from birds associated with the goddess Brigid, like swans or owls.
Artwork: Display artwork or illustrations that resonate with the themes of Imbolc. This could include depictions of Brigid, snow-covered landscapes, or symbols of growth and renewal.
Imbolc Incense: Craft or purchase incense blends with scents like frankincense, myrrh, and chamomile to fill your sacred space with a soothing and purifying aroma.
Correspondences
Goddess Brigid: Imbolc is sacred to Brigid, the Celtic goddess of hearth, home, and inspiration. Invoke her energy for healing, creativity, and protection.
Colors: White, yellow, light green, and light blue are associated with Imbolc. Use these colors in candles, altar cloths, and decorations to align with the festival's energy.
Stones: Crystals such as amethyst, garnet, and clear quartz resonate with Imbolc's energies.
Foods: Dairy products, especially cheese, and foods made with seeds like bread or muffins are fitting for Imbolc. Set offerings on your altar or incorporate them into your celebration feast.
Water: Imbolc is also associated with the element of water. Include a small bowl of water on your altar to symbolize purification.
Creativity Symbols: Imbolc is a time for inspiration and creative endeavors. Include symbols of your creative pursuits, such as a paintbrush, musical instrument, or writing quill.
Anointing Oils: Create or purchase anointing oils infused with herbs like lavender, rosemary, and frankincense. Use them to anoint candles, tools, or yourself during Imbolc rituals.
Animal Representations: Incorporate figurines or images of animals associated with Brigid, such as lambs, cows, or swans, to honor her connection to the animal kingdom.
Wheat or Corn Dolls: Craft small dolls from wheat or corn husks, symbolizing the harvest to come. Place them on your altar as a representation of the Earth's fertility.
Bell or Chimes: Hang a bell or wind chimes near your altar to symbolize the awakening of nature and the stirring of life. Ring it during your Imbolc rituals to mark significant moments.
Decorative Cloth: Choose an altar cloth with intricate patterns or symbols related to Imbolc, such as suns, wheels, or Brigid's crosses, to add a touch of magic to your sacred space.
May you find warmth in the returning light. <3

All About Imbolc
Imbolc, also known as Imbolg, celebrated on February 1st, marks the halfway point between the winter solstice and the spring equinox in early Ireland and Scotland, and also signified the beginning of the first signs of spring after all the harsh winter days. Originally a pagan holdiay in pre-Christian times, there is little in writing about the historic traditions and customs, although many historians believe it revolved around the Celtic Goddess Brigid, lambing season, and cleansing due to observed ancient poetry.
Brigid is a Goddess and daughter of the father-God of Ireland, Dagda. She is associated with quite a few things depending on the sources, but universally associated with wisdom and poetry. Other associations of hers are blacksmithing, protection, domesticated animals, childbirth, fire, and healing. She was also known as a protector of the home and the family.
Once Christianity arose, it is believed that the Goddess was syncretized with the Irish Saint Brigid by Christian monks due to the many overlapping associations. This caused Imbolc to quickly turn into St. Brigids Day and the next day into Candlemas with the rising Christian popularity, enmeshing the holiday associations together.
Today, many people have mixed the traditions and melded many associations from both religious and cultural history to celebrate their own unique way. Common ways to celebrate are making a Brigid's Cross, welcoming Brigid into the home, having a feast in her honor, cleaning the home and oneself, visiting a holy well, and in some parts of the world they still hold festivals and processions carrying a representation of Brigid. Many pagans nowadays are using associations of hers and their connection with nature to create their own ways to celebrate, however, and you can absolutely celebrate however you feel called to do so.
Imbolc Associations:
Colors - white, gold or yellow, green, and blue
Food - milk, butter, cheese, seeds and grains, breads, herbs, blackberries, oat porridge, wild onion and garlic, honey
Animals - sheep and lambs, swans, cows, burrowing and hibernating animals
Items - candles, corn dolls, Brigid's cross, fires, snowdrops and white flowers, crocuses and daffodils, flower crowns
Crystals - amethyst, garnet, ruby, quartz, bloodstone
Other - lactation, birth, feasting, farm preparation, cleansing and cleaning, the sun, poetry and creative endevours, smithing, water
Ways To Celebrate Imbolc:
make a Brigid's cross
light candles
have a feast
bake bread
plan your spring garden
leave an offering for Brigid
make a corn doll
craft a flower crown
clean your home
take a cleansing bath
make something out of metal
have a bonfire
look for the first signs of spring
make your own butter or cheese
do divination work and seek wisdom
write a poem

Pick a card reading; Your psychic talents/ gifts and how you can develop them.
Keep in mind this is a general reading so if something doesn't resonate for you, feel free to leave it or pick another pile! Trust your intuition always.
Take a few deep breaths and chose from the pictures below.
(1-3)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pile 1
Cards; 4 of cups reversed, Ace of wands, 5 of swords,8 of cups reversed, 8 of swords reversed.
Your psychic gift/ talent is knowing. Clairaudience, clairsentience etc You have been blessed with so many opportunities and ways out if you desire them. If you need something, it shows up for you, if an opportunity is not for you, you are guided away accordingly. Its kinda like the world is especially looking out for you and your sense of intuition and manifestation is quite strong. You may have things go your way easier than some other people. The people in this pile are great manifesters and masters of their emotions as well. The type of people to make a wish and it happens. Some of you always experience great luck and advantageous coincidences. However, a message is coming through that you should remember not to take things for granted.
How to develop your gift;
Develop a clear channel to your intuition, so that you can receive messages easily. This is important so that you can make the correct decisions, since you are being guided constantly. Developing a strong sense of trust in yourself is important as well. Having psychic clarity or practices that can improve your clarity such as meditation will have a very positive impact on your life. For a specific few of you, there is a set way that your life is supposed to go, a kind of divine purpose that you have to fulfill, and your gifts are meant to align you on this path.
signs/confirmations; blue and cool toned colours, oceans, vines, reeds, fire.
Pile 2
Cards; 3 of pentacles, Wheel of Fortune, Queen of wands reversed, 3 of wands reversed.
Pile 2 you are quite connected with animals and nature, there's a way you can intuitively understand and work with the cycles of life around you. You may care quite alot about the environment and its enhabitants. You may also have a particular fascination with insects. Your psychic gift/talent is this connection. You are the type of person who easily gets signals and synchronicities through animals/ wilderness. Some of you have strong ties to your ancestry and could come from cultures that practice nature based religions with medicine men/ women. You are talented at divination too and could be adept at bone throwing or runes. Strong ties to your ancestors, they could send you psychic messages quite often and work with you to bring in manifestations and blessings. (this last part is only for a specific group of people.) People who chose this pile may have native american/african(particularly the interior/central african communities)/celtic ancestry.
How you can develop your talents/gifts;
Going out into nature and managing your emotions. You may be prone to depressive episodes? or bursts of irritation and anger and may also often get disillusioned with life and feel that it is cruel to you, or that you are unlucky. Learn to take it in stride, there are always ways to seek support from the universe and sometimes bad things just happen. Seek support from your communities(if you dont have one, try to cultivate one) and look to learn from them, you could greatly benefit from a mentor or a guide in your spiritual practice. Carry out research on your ancestry and their ways of life/spiritual practice.
signs/confirmations; small woodland(i know these arent all woodland creatures but im honestly not sure how to classify them😭) creatures eg squirrels, possums, badgers., insects, eagles, warm fiery colours and violet and orchid flowers., 333.
Pile 3
Cards; Queen of wands, 3 of swords, The tower, Page of pentacles reversed, The sun reversed.
Pile 3 you may be quite beautiful and sensual. You aren't afraid to embody your sexual energy and may have broken quite a few hearts. Your gift/ talent is towards healing and transformation. You have depth of character and may have gone through some traumatic experiences but you overcame them and transformed them into wisdom. There is a sort of femme fatale energy about you but interlaced with kindness. Because you present yourself this way people may have been eager to approach you but found themselves transformed instead. Beauty and brains, mysterious and magnetic appeal. You are also talented at witchcraft and could work your magic through glamours, charms, sex magic, lunar magic too. There is a duality here, sometimes you are femme fatale, tight dress and red lipstick, other times you are more nature, cottagecore aesthetic. You are unafraid to present yourself in whatever way you are feeling.
How to develop your gifts/talents;
You may get bored easily and feel that you always have to be working on something. Frequent change and following your intuitions and urges will help you develop your talents; if you feel interested in something you are being encouraged to do some research about it/try to pursue it. Working to see your life in new perspectives you can appreciate is also helpful for you. Don't be afraid to do things that shake you up or that may seem dramatic to other people.
signs/confirmations; sun, chickens, yellow, sunflowers, farms, south american countries .
***
Thank you for participating in this pick a card reading!
Please let me know it resonated for you! Feedback is always encouraging and helps me improve as a reader. :)

NAKSHATRAS AS GODDESSES
3/27
🔪KRITTIKA🔥
DISCLAIMER: This is based solely on my research and the patterns that I saw. I can't promise that I'm gonna be sure in all the coorelations, but I'm going to attribute each nakshatra a goddess that I think fits it the closest. If you're dissapointed, to make up for it, I'm going to list some other deities in the end that I think also fit the nakshatra. Don't come for me if you think I'm wrong, be respectful in the comments if you think so and have fun 🤍
This was easy and almost immidiate. The associations between this goddess and Krittika are so apparent I didn't hesitate for a second. Look out for other deities similar to her in the end.
Brigid
Tumblr media
Pantheon: Celtic (Irish)
Name meaning: "the exalted one", "strength"
Associations: fire, spring, poetry and inspiration, healing and herbalism, smithcraft, agriculture, cattle and sheep.
Symbols: Brigid's cross, holy wells, eternal flame.
Brigid is one of the most highly- revered and widely worshipped Celtic goddesses. She'a triple goddess, representing the maiden, the mother and the crone. As a Maiden, she rules over poetry, music and ispiration. As a Mother, she's presiding over healing. As a Crone, she's the goddess of fire and smithcraft.
Frequently depicted with fiery red hair, she is no simple goddess, also ruling over waters and serenity. She's a protector of women and children, presiding over childbirth and motherhood. Also frequengly depicted with lambs and sheep (krittika's yoni animal) and swans. She's closely connected to agriculture and farm animals.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brigid, also being connected to wells and rivers, has many landmarks in Ireland with a body of water. The most famous one is a well in Kildare, Ireland. Water from that well is said to have healing properties.
Her father was Dagda (good, great god), leader of the Irish tribe Tuatha Dé Danann ("people of goddess Danu"), which consisted of Irish deities who lived there before the ancestors of the modern Irish had arrived. Dagda was a wise man, an all-father and a Druid. Brigid married Bres, another member of that tribe and together they had three children. One of them, Ruadán, died and Brigid mourned him with profound and painful sadness. She's very devoted to protecting children and this might be a reason why.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In honor of her, there's a sacred fire lit in Kildare and is guarded by the Sisters of St. Brigid. There has been a fire in Kildare since the time Brigid was worshipped. It has been put out several times, but has been re-lit and is still burning. This suggests that the worship of Brigid has endured as she she survived and was made a Catholic saint when Christianity came to Europe.
Tumblr media
I want to talk about why I chose her for Krittika while comparing her to very similar goddesses.
First one is the Roman Vesta. Virgins were chosen to keep the fire of vesta burning and it was said that if even one of them gave their virginity, the fire would burn out. In those instances when fire burned out by itself, the poor Vestal Virgins were to blame. Vesta is also the Roman Equivalent of the Greek Hestia, both being goddesses of the hearth, fire and home.
Krittika is the nakshatra that burns impurities through being precise and cutting away all that is not nessecary, hence a sharp object and a flame being its symbols. Bridging the signs of Aries and Taurus, it's often fiery and passionate but also feminine and nurturing.
Tumblr media
An Indian deity ruling over Krittika is Agni_ God of fire. An Indian goddess that is coorelated to Krittika (and also Purva Phalguni) is Tripura Sundari, meaning "the most beautiful in three worlds". This three world- triple goddess coorelation is apparent to me, besides the obvious fire associations, as well as nurturing, fertility and agriculture.
In the lunar mansion of Krittika, there's a constellation called the Pleiades, often called "the seven sisters". This is another confirmation of Krittika's very feminine nature, despite also representing the birth of the cosmic man and being very fiery and passionate in general.
Some other deities that I'd coorelate with Krittika:
Hestia- another virginal goddess of fire, also associated with home and hearth
Tripura Sundari- Indian goddess, "the most beautiful in the worlds"
Vesta- Roman goddess of fire and virgins
Bel- Celtic sun and fire god, also associated with healing, thunder and purification.
That's it! I hope you enjoyed reading about Brigid. This is a very condensed post but I said pretty much everything I wanted to say. I hope you understood Brigid's energy and made the coorelation between her and Krittika. If you're Krittika, even if you're not, COMMENT, like and reblog. Love u, take care ❤🔥

'Perfect' White
We can't have failed to notice that in S5 Gabriel has gone all white...like Cat Blanc. So my wheels got spinning and here I am, exploring the symbolism of this 'colour'.
Many viewers will link white to ideas of innocence, cleanliness or peace. Maybe even holiness - think angels. We've even seen Adrien wearing angel wings, in 'Simpleman'.
I once read an excellent analysis, I forget by whom, suggesting that Adrien is often in white to show that he's a blank slate, waiting to be written on. We even get the word 'blank' from the Latin root of the French 'blanc', meaning white. Taking this further, we could see it as Adrien not yet being certain of his own identity.
White is also linked with virginity - think of the Western European wedding dress colour. Applying this symbolically, Adrien begins the story inexperienced and naive, kept ignorant of the ways of the world. He also takes things at face value. But this is definitely changing.
I see irony, as well, because the angelic public image of Adrien hides his 'darker' thoughts and impulses. White is often linked to simplicity, and Adrien is perhaps most fascinating for being so much more complicated than anyone in his life believes.
We could also see virginity as not being 'used' yet, and this is ironic too because Adrien is used left and right, by both his father and by Ladybug.
And of course white is honesty. Nothing has been hidden. Adrien is typically the most honest one on the show and the most open with his feelings. An interesting fact I didn't know before some quick research today is that in ancient Rome, public officials wore white, and their robes were called 'candidus', which gives us the word 'candidate' but also 'candid' meaning honest and frank (because politicians never lie...???). We'll come back to this later.
White also indicates being innocent of sins or crimes. It tells us Adrien is a victim.
So why is Gabriel all in white?
Tumblr media
Let's start with the obvious. Scientifically, white is both the source and absence of all colour.
On the one hand, we could see Gabriel in white as him trying to swallow up everything else - think of how colourful the kwamis are, and the way Gabriel tries to consume his son.
Or we could see it as his coldness. Think of the Hans Christian Andersen's Snow Queen, adapted as Elsa in 'Frozen' - or 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'. White is ice. We also saw this with Cat Blanc - we all talk about his 'ice-blue eyes' in fan fics.
But Gabriel's white could also be the antithesis of Cat Noir - white versus black. Gabriel is trapped in s state of mind that Adrien is gradually leaving behind.
Another thing I didn't know is that author Robert Graves tied white with the moon goddess, who in mythology is usually said to have three faces, standing for the stages of life - childhood (waxing), motherhood (the full moon), and old age (waning). I think Gabriel's powers are beginning to wane. And although it's a stretch to say the writers of Miraculous had Graves in mind, there is so much moon symbolism tied into the show that I thought this was interesting to think on nonetheless.
Getting heavier, let's travel around the world to places like China, where white is the colour of mourning and worn at funerals. This makes white the colour of sadness, which ties up with Cat Blanc's months of grief and loneliness - but also Gabriel, who literally lives in a mausoleum for his wife and refuses to let go. Suddenly dressing all in white tells us he's gone all in. This is endgame. He's totally embodying his grief. And with white being tied to the end of life, it's a sign that the end of this particular story is nigh.
Now let's remember the old saying that 'Death rides a pale horse'. This comes from the depiction of the Apocalypse found in The Book of Revelation, at the end of the Bible. In fact, in Celtic tradition, if you see a pure white animal (especially if it has red ears), it's supernatural and not to be trusted. White is otherworldly and unnatural - about as unnatural as Gabriel making banana pancakes, amiright?
Gabriel is also straddling life and death. He's been cataclysmed and is now rotting away before our eyes. He's on that pale horse and has nothing left to lose.
There’s also a suggestion of the unknown - going back to that idea of being a blank slate, Gabriel is a wild card here. When someone like that gets truly desperate, we can no longer predict what he will do. Forcing a cataclysm on himself was definitely the start of this.
Coming back to the notion of honesty - we could apply this ironically to Gabriel, who, in his new white suit, recently shook hands with Nino, as if they were partners working against a common enemy.
On that note, let's look again at the Latin 'candidus'. This was considered the brightest shade of white, and it gives us the word 'candle'. So, white can be illuminating. We can see this as Adrien heading towards understanding, revelation. Gabriel is posing in the colour of honesty and innocence, but Adrien is soon to see through the pancakes.
On the other hand, Gabriel is slipping into a state of ignorance. He has never gained anything from all this power because he no longer understands love. He claims to do all this for Emilie, but it's gone far, far beyond that goal. He has reached the point of seeking power for power's sake.
He could learn a few lessons from Adrien, who reprised his Cat Blanc costume in 'Jubilation', this time worn as a wedding suit. It stands out because in European-style weddings the bride wears white but not the groom. The dream was a vision of grief and heartache being transmutated into something pure and beautiful - and of new starts. The slate had been wiped clean, ready for a new story to be written.
This leads me to think of the levels of karate. A lot of people don't realise that after the black belt, there's a higher level - the white belt. It's a sign of humility. Returning to the beginning shows an understanding that we never truly master anything. We're always learning. So Adrien moving from white (Alliance and other ads) to black (Cat Noir) to white again (the wedding vision) tells us he's completed one journey and is now applying the lessons he's learned to his next journey in life.
Of course, it was only a dream because he's not there yet. He needs to learn and deal with the truth about his father first. But all of this is coming.
Because white is the light at the end of the tunnel. As much as my son likes to say the Netflix show tags should now be 'grief', 'child abuse' and 'trauma', I truly see hope in every scene. White wipes the slate clean. Our favourite couple are so close to not a happy ending but a happy new beginning.

Ruin - Filip 'Chibs' Telford x Reader

Tumblr media
Chibs hasn’t laid eyes on you since Juice let slip that he’s returning to Ireland at the end of the month. You don’t call, you don’t text, and you don’t show up at his place. Any business you undertake seems to be at your office as opposed to the Clubhouse or Teller Morrow. He figures it’ll work itself out, that you’re just busy but by the time he’s packing the night before his plane journey, he realises that it’s almost been a fortnight and he misses you fiercely. He wants to tell you that he’s going to see Kerrianne, to explain that although he cares about her mother, the two of them can’t be together, that they need to move on with their lives, because they’re running in separate directions.
Fiona thinks it’s for the best, the two of them putting up a united front, she thinks his presence will reinforce the fact that Kerrianne is still a priority despite the fact that when he returns to the US, the two of them will be seeking a divorce. He’s not the only one that needs the freedom. After everything that happened with Jimmy, Fiona doesn’t want to be tied to another man, even if he is absent.
He's the one to break the stalemate. He goes to your place only to find you’re not in. Your car is in the driveway but there’s no sign of life in the house. He decides to take a seat on your porch and wait. He’s about to pull his phone out and text you when the taxi pulls up. He climbs to his feet as you exit, you slip a twenty to the driver and telling him to keep the change before you close the door behind you.
When you turn to face him, he’s so fucking shocked he can’t speak. You look radiant, he feels like he’s staring into the face of God and he wants to get down onto his fucking knees and pray. Your hair is loose, falling over one side of your face before you push it back behind your ear. Those eyes of yours, the ones he’s spent hours staring into, are highlighted with kohl, bringing out the depth and colour. Your skin looks flawless, a healthy glow exuding from your features. Then there’s the lipstick, a bold, vivid red, one that reminds him of the marks you left upon his skin not to long ago, he remembers the morning after, his fingertips tracing over each of the kisses, where you’d claimed him as your own.
It's witchcraft, he thinks as his eyes slip down to the dress that resides underneath the cream-coloured coat. How a dress seems to bring out a completely different side of you.
It’s a black off the shoulder piece that seems to shimmer when you walk because of the thousands of tiny sequins sewn into the fabric. The material clings to your form accentuating every single one of your assets.
You would be the ruin of any man, you’re certainly the ruin of this one. He imagines his fingers trailing along your skin as he unzips it, the fabric slipping away from your skin as his lips trace over the curve of your shoulder.
Wars could be waged over a woman like you. Charming’s very own Helen of Troy.
There’s a fierce sense of pride in his chest because this siren with her intelligence, her ferociousness and her cunning is all his. Out of everyone you’ve chosen him.
“Darlin,” he breathes as he steps towards you. “You look fucking terrific.”
“Gala at City Hall.” You inform him, your fingers searching through the tiny, beaded bag for the key to the front door of your house.
He wants to sweep you up into his arms, to kiss you until your breathless, to trace a thousand little Celtic patterns over your skin until your flushed and desperate underneath him. He wants you to forget all the other men you’ve been around tonight, the ones with the power, the money, the education and he wants to remind you of what its like to be with him, the man that loves you, the man that will always love you.
“I don’t have it in me to be the woman you fuck tonight.” You tell him as you breeze past him, leaving a trail of the dark, sensuous perfume in your wake. “If you’ve got something to say, just say it.”
He recognises this side of you, the cold despondent queen who withdraws into herself. He’s experienced it before, in the very beginning of your relationship, when things were new, and a crow-eater had climbed into his lap during a discussion at the club. The girl had been trying to make point about the calibre of women he preferred when you were running through his affairs. He’d shoved her off so hard she had bounced when she’d hit the floor. Nobody had known about you back then, about the things you did together in the dark. It was the reason he had decided to share the nature of your relationship, he didn’t want anyone getting the wrong idea about his intentions, he was faithful to one woman and one woman only, and she was not the one he had married.
The distance between the two of you makes him feel out of sync, he fumbles for the words, trying to explain his intentions but he can’t seem to find them.
It’s the dress he thinks. That gorgeous, seductive dress, it short circuits something inside of his brain. He sees you shutting down, so he reaches for you, instead you slip through his grasp like smoke, half way through the unlocked front door.
“Ok. I get it.” You tell him, the hurt in your voice so fucking visceral it cuts him. “Good luck with your marriage Filip.”
It’s as you slam the door in his face, he realises what’s happening, why you haven’t been picking up his calls or returning his texts. You think he’s trying to repair his marriage, not dissolve it. That the past year with you has been nothing more than a distraction, until he can get himself back to Ireland and back to the woman, he married all those years ago.
His fist hammers on the door, he feels the wood practically vibrate under the weight of it of his frustration.
“Come on love.” He yells as he knocks on the sage-coloured panelling. “I just want to talk to ya.”
There’s silence on the opposite side of the door. He runs both of his hands through his hair as he kicks the bottom of it in frustration before opening the letterbox and yelling through it.
“For fuck’s sake darlin, I’m getting a divorce.”
Nothing.
Fucking nothing.
He imagines that you’ve moved to the back of the house by now, that you’ve turned on the shower to drown him out, before you step into the heated water stream, cleansing yourself of him and all the shit that he comes with. He doesn’t know what to do, he knows if he keeps this up that your neighbours will call the police and then that will be a whole other headache for the both of you.
So, he makes the decision to leave, to give you space because right now because the last thing you need is another man trying to batter down your door.
It’s as he’s straddling the bike in your driveway, pulling on his leather gloves that he hears the front door click open. He inclines his head towards you, fixing you with his gaze as you stand there, leaning against the frame.
“Did you mean it?” You ask him softly. “You’re really getting a divorce?”
“Yes love.” He says as he climbs off his bike and steps towards you. “Let’s go inside and I can tell you all about it.”

The path up the hill had been carved by his boots alone over centuries, the grass eventually giving up on growing back where the Witcher walked. His feet knew the steps from memory even though they only made the journey once a year, once frost was beginning to harden the ground and pull the leaves from the tree at the top of the hill.
Ciri watched as her guardian reached the summit of the hill where a single tree, its branches dark against the snow-filled clouds overhead and bare of leaves, grew. He had told her that they had to make a stop so that he could visit a friend on the way to Kaer Morhen; he had neglected to tell her that that friend was apparently a tree.
The stone, nestled between the sturdy roots of the tree, was beginning to show signs of age, Geralt noticed with a frown. Kneeling before it, he reached out to trace the letters that formed your name, the letters that he had carved nearly two hundred years ago. The sharp grief that he had felt then had since dulled to an ache, one that had been present for so long that he sometimes thought it had gone completely until he moved the wrong way, caught a whiff of a certain flower, heard a snatch of a particular folk song to which the rest of the Continent had long ago forgotten the words.
A little bird landed in the branches above his head, a flash of scarlet catching his eye. He smiled softly at the robin, a smile he had not used since the last time he had seen you alive. The humans, in their infinite ability to tell stories, claimed that a robin was a loved one come back from the grave to visit.
“Good day,” he said quietly to the bird.
It flew off at the sound of his voice and he stifled a chuckle; animals never did like him. You used to tease him about it, claiming that you could never get your cows to come in from the pasture when he had been visiting you. His smile faded at the memory as a more recent one from just half an hour ago came to mind. The sight of the farmhouse that had once been your home, now reduced to crumbling walls with a sapling growing through what had once been the roof, had driven him to ride faster along the road. If Ciri had noticed, she was good enough not to comment.
The little cottage and the farm had been your pride and joy. Every time he visited, you would excitedly tell him about the reparations you had made to the building or the crops that you had just harvested. It was one of the first things about you with which he had fallen in love, your delight in nature and the mundane.
He remembered all too well the day that he had ridden up to the cottage and learned of your death. It had been a harsh winter, the crops had failed, and you had not survived. He could sense the emptiness even before he pushed open the door that you had painted green, could tell immediately that he was the first living soul that had set foot in the house in several days.
Above everything, he could smell the lingering scent of death.
He had followed it out of the house and along the road, all the way to the top of the hill where he had found a long strip of freshly turned earth beneath the tree- just a sapling back then. There was no headstone, nothing to say that you had lived or loved or died, and it had made his blood turn to fire in his veins. You were never popular with the village, your friendship with a Witcher earning you suspicious stares and cruel words, but the deliberate heartlessness of laying you to rest alone and with nothing to mark your grave had made him want to storm the village and raze it to the ground. It was only the loss of you, the realisation that he had never truly bid you farewell, bringing him to his knees that saved the village.
Two centuries later, he still wondered if, had he made the journey to Kaer Morhen just a week earlier that fateful year, he would have been able to save you. He might have filled your belly with food, wrapped you in furs, given you the warmth of his own body, and you might have lived. Still, he reminded himself, he would have found himself in the same position sooner or later. You were human, and humans died. You had asked him about it once, laying beneath that very tree, your head resting on his chest.
“How long do Witchers live?” you asked.
“Centuries, if they're quick on their feet,” he told you.
You frowned.
“But I won’t live for centuries.”
“No, you won’t.”
The sadness in his voice made you lift your head to look at him.
“What will you do when I’m old and grey?”
He raised his eyebrows, the hair white as snow, and grinned as you giggled at him.
“You know what I mean, Geralt.”
“I’ll go on loving you,” he told you.
You fell silent for a few seconds, and he knew what you were going to ask before you did.
“What about when I’m gone?”
Your cheek was warm as he cupped it to bring your face down to his until your foreheads were touching.
“I’ll go on loving you.”
He had kept his promise well, had loved you in every way he could since he lost you. He had carved his love into a makeshift headstone that afternoon, his fingers bloody by the time he was done. Love had dripped from those same fingers every time he plucked weeds from the grass that had grown over your grave by the second time he visited and swept moss from the stone. In the year that passed between each visit, it having become a pilgrimage incorporated into his yearly return to Kaer Morhen, he carried his love in the form of a scrap of faded green fabric you had cut from the skirt of your favourite dress for him and which he had stitched onto the inside of his armour, over his heart.
According to human folklore, in death you were a thousand things. You were the robin that had fled from him, the voice that sometimes seemed to sing with the wind, the warmth of the touch of an invisible hand on his shoulder. Geralt knew death, almost enough to consider it a friend or at least a colleague, and it was difficult for him to tell himself that you were anything more than bones beneath his feet. He hoped that they had given you a coffin, that they had combed your hair and threaded it with forget-me-nots. He hoped that a gentle hand had closed your eyes, if they were open at the end.
Above all, he wished that he had been there to do those things.
A/N: This might be the saddest fic I’ve ever written...I’m really proud of it so feedback in any form would mean the world! I hope you loved this and that the rest of your day is as lovely as you are xxx

Phantasos, ancient messenger who  crafts wonder into form who conjures in our minds a tapestry otherworldly. Greatest molder and master of lights,  many-shaped, you cross the night  and take on any face or voice any hue or sound you so desire. I ask you, my lord: shield me from pain  and fear in my dreams, let no anguish burden my heart as I sleep. This only I request: that within your great creations I may rest  and through your hand I may find safe haven. That my words may reach you, o Morpheus  whispered though they may be as Hypnos draws near.

“Lizard symbolism is linked to sun, light, regeneration, and renewal. It is a symbol of good fortune in some cultures, while also representing impurity and danger in others. Lizards are patient, determined, and have the ability to blend in with their surroundings.”
Credit: http://www.worldofbirds.com
“From re-growing body parts to swift movement, when it comes to Lizard as an Animal Helper, there are many attributes to appreciate! One characteristic defining Lizard’s meaning is the fact that the creature sheds its skin, much like a Snake. Shedding marks an increase in the reptile’s size and allows Lizard to rid itself of parasites. So, both Lizard and Snake come to symbolize physical, emotional, or intellectual growth and the act of leaving behind what you’ve outgrown.
The second behavior highlighting Lizard Energy is self-amputation and regeneration. While on the surface, the action sounds awful, it’s a self-defense mechanism so Lizard can get out of a predator’s grasp. Over time, the Animal’s tail grows back, but often smaller and sometimes in a different color. Survivor instincts and adaptation are a significant part of Lizard symbolism. Lizard’s defensive techniques also symbolize the need to release harmful aspects of yourself or attributes. Holding on to old habits or outworn beliefs hold you back from achieving good health, happiness, or success.
Lizards come in many colors, each one of which offers a different dimension to Lizard’s energetic imprint. A brown Lizard is the color of earth and embodies grounding. The appearance of a brown Lizard suggests it’s time to focus on what anchors you or keeps you on an even keel.
A blue Lizard is the color of the Water Element and symbolizes your emotional nature. The color resonates with the throat chakra and all that it governs, including communication, self-expression, and truth-sharing; it’s interesting to note some Lizards have a wide range of vocalizations. While blue Lizards are rare, when they appear as an Animal Guide, they carry a message relating to how you communicate with and listen to others. Lizard says, “Speak up, speak out; express your truth with love.”
Green is one of the most common colors for Lizard. The color symbolizes growth and corresponds with the Earth Element and stability. It also symbolizes a good time for movement, as in seeing a green light means “go,” or it’s safe to act now. When a green Lizard comes across your path, it’s a positive sign for your spiritual progress, indicating movement in the right direction.
A red Lizard is the color of the Fire Element, the source of energy and passion. When the red Lizard comes into your awareness, direct attention toward desires; ask yourself, “What promises to ignite your full engagement or excitement?” Red Lizard’s message calls into question what inspires you and sets your spirit ablaze.
Some Lizards, like the Chameleon, can change colors to suit the situation. The creature corresponds with the Akashic Element, meaning that when working with the Animal’s energies, you can work with any of the Elements and their energetic influence. Chameleon’s ability to alter its appearance represents adaptability and being able to blend into your environment. Like Chameleon, you’ll be able to step back, observe, and re-emerge when the coast is clear.
In Ancient Egypt, the hieroglyph for Lizard translates as “plentiful.” Lizard also has solar associations because, upon observation, they mirror the sun’s transition in the sky as it cycles through the seasons. When climbing walls in the spring, the creature does so on a wall that faces eastward. In Spain and Portugal, people use the image of Lizard in their décor for attracting good fortune, much like Westerners use a horseshoe for attracting luck.
In Native American Tradition, Lizard represents the world of dreams, healing, and survival. Children receive amulets in the shape of a Lizard for protection and strength. Killing a Lizard brings terrible fortune. In western coastal regions, Lizard appears as a Creator who makes humans somewhat in its image. Among the Navajo, Lizard is a hero and protector who brings prosperity and restoration.”

I just got a comment from someone saying that I have internalized racism because I'm not putting goblins in my isekai fantasy AU fic. See, goblins aren't actually associated with Judaism anymore, I'm overly sensitive, and therefore not putting them in is a sign I'm a self-hating Jewish person.
I hope this person stretched before they made that reach. I'm trying to write a fantasy AU that isn't cliche as shit and goblins, dwarves vs elves and copious borrowing from Norse and Celtic lore for names, lore ideas, etc. are cliche. If you want all that in your isekai, go watch one of the dozens of anime out there with those same things and a protagonist with no personality. Don't try to tell me I must hate myself or my people if I'm not doing stock tropes like hentai goblins or whatever the fuck else I don't want in my fic.
Also: can't help but notice that if I don't have goblins, I'm fucked up, but if goyim don't have goblins, they're totally fine. Never seen any of them get called out for this. Interesting how my writing is a reflection of my inner torment or whatever but white goyim's writing is just writing.
Sometimes an author doesn't want a thing in their work. Sometimes I don't want a thing in my salad. They are both exactly as deep as 'eh, not into this'.
--
Goblins of all things! When did goblins become so default that it's even notable not to include them?

What to do with Druidic
Druidic as a level 1 benefit is a bit of a let down for those who play Druids. It's just another language, in a game full of languages, with no special abilities or properties to it other than it can only be understood by other druids. Like Thieve's Cant, it only exists for role play flavor if the DM chooses to incorporate it, but at least Thieve's Cant has an obvious purpose in helping thieves to commit crimes and shield themselves from authorities. Druidic has no such given purpose, which is why it's hard to figure out what to do with it.
Some options didn't become apparent to me until I was trying to build a witch character and trying to find interesting things to do with spell components and potion ingredients. Then I started reading about who the druids were and the roles they played in Celtic society. Then it started making more sense.
Depending on who you ask, druids were the priests, philosophers, ethicists, material scientists, astronomers, and/or judges in their society. People went to them for advice and counsel, for legal proceedings and religious guidance. Their wisdom was kept secret because it was all oral tradition which had to be memorized. They might have even been forbidden to write down any information relating to their druidic orders. And from that, the options emerge:
Instructions and warnings to other druids about the plants and animal species who live nearby, what their uses are, if they're dangerous, and how to tame them
Directions on who to avoid in a given village as a problem person, a trouble maker, or a source of conflict
Indications if the government is corrupt, the people are oppressed, and who the source of that oppression is
Signs for navigating through and away from the population centers so they/other druids don't get lost or get bad directions from the locals. Also any interesting or useful stops off the main road that might prove interesting or useful.
How do you convey all that in a way that the uninitiated can't interact with it? What does it look like?
Thinking from a modern perspective and what I could see of ancient druids today, it would look like Ogham markings on rocks and stones. Just a bunch of lines that are totally meaningless unless you know how to read them. Then there are other ancient languages with fun elements to choose from, like hieroglyphics and pictorial glyph languages like Mayan that could be used to say a lot with very little if you understand the symbols.
That led me into thinking it would be really neat if every druid during their initiation received their own glyph that represents them, that they use whenever leaving this kind of information about a place. And when Druidic is visible to other druids, this is what it means. They see and understand the glyph symbology and can gather a ton of information from it that other people can't see.
The more I think about this, the more I want to use this in my current campaign, which has two druids in it. I think they both would really enjoy making their own glyphs and leaving them in places.
