I could not possibly be happier with how it turned out.

Squishy.
Floof without the fluff.

First finish of the year happened mid-month - it's @owlkeyme.arts sigil for 2023. Please check out their Instagram to get the link to the blog post explaining its meaning and purpose. I've been having a lot of fun lately with watercolour and other colouring agents to enhance my embroidery. I think embroidering the year-sigil will become a tradition - I start it in the old year, and it's the first thing I finish in the new year . . . #embroidery #SigilEmbroidery #2023sigil #2023SigilEmbroidery #LauraTempestZacroff #OwlKeyMeArts #ChainStitch #StraightStitch #BackStitch #RunningStitch #SatinStitch #ColonialKnot #WitchEmbroidery #WitchyEmbroidery #witch #witchcraft https://www.instagram.com/p/CoBdUE1NRCe/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Crochet Basics: Slip Knot & Chain Stitch
The first step in any crochet is that initial loop that is created to begin your structure of interconnected loops. We typically use a slip knot to do this.
There are several ways to tie a slip knot. Heres a video that shows an easy to way make a slip knot to get started with crochet. If you have a hard time using this method, try another one, but the important thing is to get comfortable making slot knots.
Once you have a slip knot to start your crochet structure, you make a series of chain stitches to crochet into to create a form or fabric.
Here is a link to a site with step by step instructions on how to make a chain stitch for you to follow along with.
Practice making chains until you are comfortable with your grip of the crochet hook and the flow of the yarn. In the beginning, your work will be uneven, with some chain stitches loose and others tight. While you’re learning, try to keep the chain stitches consistent, and looser. As your skill increases, the chain should be firm, but not too tight, with all chain stitches even in size.

How to Crochet a Chain | Pt 1 of my how to crochet series!
Hello pandas! It's Sophie. Today i'm going to show you how to crochet. No, crocheting isn't just for grandmas and old people that have nothing else to do. Crochet has actually been blowing up on social media sites lately and many people have been making profits with crochet by selling them. And who knows, maybe you can, too!
So lets get ready to crochet a chain. You don't need much at all for this. You'll need:
*Yarn
*A crochet hook
*and a bit of patience.
Ok, let's start. So start off by holding the tip of the yarn in your hand, with the short/cut off end sort of dangling off.
Then, wrap the working yarn around two fingers to sort of create an X.
Now, insert your hook into the 'top right corner' of your X.
Then hook your hook onto the top LEFT corner of the X.
Then pull through. You now have a slip knot. Time to chain!
Lay/wrap another piece of your working yarn onto your hook.
You now have two 'pieces/layers' of yarn on your hook.
Grab the top piece with your hook.
Pull through. You have done one chain stitch!
Repeat as many times as you want to or as many times as your pattern calls for.
...Annnnnddd, you're done! (With your chain). Please like, and follow me for more in the future!
Look out for more crochet tutoriuls! Thanks for reading!
