Curate your YouTube search and recommendations
Tell me if you've had this problem before. You click on some video, any video, looking at something positive. And all of a sudden, you're spammed with dozens of negative videos in your recommendations. And no matter how many “Not interested” or “Don't recommend channel” that you click, YouTube still forces them on you. Or maybe you're looking for something in YouTube search, but you get too much clickbait videos, or hate-watch videos? And you have to scroll through everything?
Or maybe people have used different tags to force them into your search options, giving you tons of options that aren't related to what you are searching for. Wouldn't it be nice if you could block these channels and videos the same way you block people on social media?
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, YouTube's existence relies on Ad revenue exclusively, hence why their channel blockers won't work, and reporting channels or videos won't accomplish anything if those channels and videos don't harm YouTube's reputation or ad revenue.
The larger a channel gets, the less chance of YouTube taking action against them. Hence why very large hate-channels and videos will swarm into searches.
Tumblr media
Fortunately, there are tools called Browser Extensions or Add-Ons that allow you to have your browsers be able to add that specific block button option.
But...wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to look for those tools? Why do we need such an option? Why can't YouTube give us that option in the first place?
In any case, the resources DO exist. You just have to look for them on Google Search. Blocktube is one such tool, and you can look it up on Google Search to confirm what I have shown here.
I know that for Phones you’ll need something called Youtube Vanced, also researchable on Google.

I’m just sick and tired of YouTube not doing a thing about a glaring problem on its increasingly problematic platform.
Edit: Dear people who are upset with hogwarts legacy? These tools are for you.

Cinemawins is way better than Cinemasins. Idk if this take is controversial or not but theres already so much negativity surrounding media and pop culture that just hearing someone gush about the good in a movie feels so much more satisfying than hearing someone trash on one. Plus I find that the analyses of what a movie does right are usually more interesting than the analyses of what a movie does wrong. I may leave a cinemasins video with a few laughs, but a cimemawins video usually ends up teaching me something about filmography or storytelling and how the movie does that thing correctly. I dont care about what cliches are overused, I care about moments of symbolism in a movie that I never noticed before, or a type of shot zoom or cut that made a scene more impactful in a way I definitely felt but never fully registered. I love making fun of bad movies but I will ALWAYS enjoy gushing about good media more than dogging on bad media. Positivity is important.

The CinemaWins video for Tron: Legacy is a pretty fun watch, with lots of gushing about the soundtrack and Rinzler getting a separate win counter. It also comes with an interesting theory regarding the ISOs: The difference between them and regular Programs is that an ISO can survive a serious injury (Quorra gets her whole arm chopped off), but the Programs fall to pieces whenever they get hurt, the reason being that "perfect" Programs don't have any redundancies while the "imperfect" ISOs do. Which kind of makes sense from a real world perspective, since a big advanced computer program can crash completely if you happen to write a zero instead of a one in the wrong place somewhere. And of course it becomes a reflection of the flaw in CLUs striving for "the perfect system", since supposed "imperfections" can have their advantages too.
However, I'm not sure if this particular theory holds up completely, due to the fact that we do see regular Programs getting injured but not dying at some points in the film. The one that immediately springs to mind for me is the stray that Sam sees when he's being transported to the arena, with the nasty facial wound:
Tumblr media
I'm sure there are some other instances I'm missing. And if we bring Uprising into the equation, there are even more examples. Tron's scars were a special case, of course. But Dyson was still walking around despite his severe head wound. And Paige used to be a doctor or some kind of medical staff, implying that injured Programs can be healed. I guess a compromise could be that ISOs are still more resilient than Programs, and have better regeneration abilities.

What are your top 3 favourite youtube channels/series outside of smosh?
I have a great fondness for commentary channels, when they're done right; and few do it better than Danny Gonzalez, Drew Gooden, Kurtis Conner, Jarvis Johnson, and Chad Chad. That's right, I'm cheating; I'm counting them as ONE YOUTUBE SERIES, because they're all friends, and to me there's no ranking or separating them.
A channel that I'll never not recommend is Defunctland. The focus is mainly on defunct theme parks and rides, but some videos touch on children's media, and other tangentially related subjects. Everything is meticulously researched, and the storytelling is flawless.
I used to watch CinemaSins, but I kinda got tired of the negative angle and all the nitpicking that was "necessary" to keep the bit going. My knight in shining armor was CinemaWins, a separate channel created in response. This channel reviews hugely popular and critically panned movies alike, always finding something to love about them.
Thank you for asking!

Im watching " everything great about TMNT Mutant Mayhem" by Cinemawins. I'm just really happy that my prediction was correct. I knew that there would be a soundtrack that would give us stranger things vibes, and I'm happy that I'm not the only one mentioning it.
I remember an analysis stating that stranger things is told from the perspective of teenagers dealing with the dangers of the unknown....and this is similar to tmnt...especially Mutant Mayhem.

Like, seriously. The amount of people who actually take the 'sins' from CinemaSins videos seriously is too damn high.
The joke is that they're meant to be a gross overkill of the "bullet points, things to complain about" style of review that was all over the internet when the channel started.
And the same complain goes for the ones who complain about CinemaSins being petty and infantile at adding the sins. That's the fraggin' joke!
The "Everything Wrong With" videos are just a summary with a framing device. Not an actual review. It's almost 2023 and people still complain about it.
If you really want a bullet points review, CinemaWins is the one that actually reviews stuff. Go there.

Honestly, CinemaSins turned into this sharade of shitting on movies just for the sake of doing so. The creator became unreliable a long time ago.
i assume this is about my post about Lee. unfortunately, I'm not talking about CinemaSins. I'm talking about its counterpart, CinemaWins, which makes "Everything Great About" videos. his Everything Great About Top Gun video is very, very harsh and unfair towards Maverick as a character, and cuts out everything good that Maverick does in the movie. i don't understand why, he's never been like this with other movies or characters. it's very disheartening to watch.
