Hello, there. My name is nopal 🌵! I'm a writer of the fantasy, romance, (newly) horror/gore, and pirate genre(s), and I love to write about most tropes as long as I'm having fun, but my absolute favorites are star-crossed/forbidden love, soul mates, yearning, second chance love, self-empowerment/growth!

I am SFW (but mature, my stories are for adults), sometimes NSFW (always tagged/under a cut!), and write body horror, gore, sexual content (mostly fade to black), violence, abuse, drug use, and touch on topics like depression so just be aware of that. Tropes you will never find in my writing include one bed, enemies to lovers, fake relationship, it was just a dream, and love triangles.

In my humble opinion, my best work I've posted is As A Stranger Or A Friend?: The Swallow And The Drowned Sailor (Wattpad link) because its everything As A Stranger Or A Friend? was but turned up to 11 and I had SO much fun writing it. My all-time favorite character(s) I've made are Axtapor Rehteus Oxlo of Ihama and Mariel Elodie Frère of Naren, (that's right, we're using government names lol), the main protagonists of the As A Stranger Or A Friend? series.

Something I'd love for you to know about my writing that isn't listed in this game is that I'm very verbose, and I LOVE writing flowery prose. If brevity is your thing, you will not find it here!

Learning Code as a Non-Techie: It's never too late to learn coding, right? Follow my journey as a liberal arts student—with no background in tech—learning how to code and program. I'll share resources and tips helpful for other non-techies!

Devblog: I'm developing an RPG game with a few software engineer friends of mine. So expect updates on programming with Unreal Engine's Blueprints, AI-learning, 3D modeling in Blender, and more.

Philosophy Corner: Delving into philosophers and their philosophies is second nature to me, thanks to my major. I'm already knee-deep in dissecting original texts and applying their concepts to real-world scenarios due to my varsity Debate Team commitments. So... why not share some of those insights?

Ethical Dilemmas: I'll pose ethical questions to you guys and discuss the various viewpoints and responses. Depending on the participation, this should be very fun! (Note: this is a judgment-free zone for all perspectives, questions, ideas, and opinions—all will be evaluated and criticized fairly. I am a stout supporter of John Stuart Mill's Marketplace of Ideas).

Study Tips: Pretty self-explanatory. I have a lot of tips I could share with you guys on how to maximize productivity!

It’s been a tumultuous couple of months haha. Had to cancel my original half marathon in September after succumbing to covid, and then recover, retrain and find a new race- the Morunning Movember half marathon! 🏃‍♂️

I'm from Minnesota / Wisconsin, USA. Yes it's cold and I'm not a fan. I'll wear all black and lay out like a lizard when it's +90F outside. Trying to store the warmth like a god damn solar battery.

My only sibling is my brother who's 15 years younger than me. We have nothing in common beyond both being queer (and even that's not the same). He is the other half of my soul.

I'm an amateur florist. I do all of my friends and families weddings for free. It's my "What if everyone got paid a living wage and I wasn't enslaved to capitalism" dream

I love punk and metal music, but I also listen to classical, movie scores, blues, and alternative indie pop. I discover bands super late, way after they're famous. So late it's embarrassing lol

Ao3 > TV Shows > Books > Movies >>> Video games. I've tried playing so many video games and all I like are Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Country, Stardew Valley, and Cult of the Lamb.

I've got two cats: Kitty Harrington (aka Harri aka BeBe aka Stinky Bones) and Stardust (aka Monster aka Dusty). Kitty Harrington was a play on Kit Harrington, while Stardust is for the new FOB album So Much For Stardust. My partner is slightly concerned I've secretly concocted a plan to name our cats Harrington and Dustin... who can say??

Out of all the pop culture nerd geek shit I get hyperfixated on, I'm weirdly obsessed with F1 right now. Drive to Survive on Netflix hooked the shit out of me and now my partner has to listen to me bitch about driver trades, team dynamics, and proper tire selection. I love him for it.

I'm learning embroidery!! I'm trying to make my own heat-on patches so I can start making my own battle vest and I'm so excited about it. I've got like five different denim jackets to practice on.

My dreams are weird and intense. Usually they're about whatever I'm in to at the moment, or some amalgamation of insanity. I've considered turning some of them into stories, like my spicy dreams into reader insert fics. I used to write a lot of horror based on my nightmares and they were always my best stories.

I'm scared shitless to write. I used to write all the time in high school and early college. My mom still tells me she's disappointed I got a Biology degree instead of Creative Writing and editing. So here I am, writing Steddie fics in secret. Proving to myself I can enjoy doing something I used to love without all the pressure of doing it well or holding myself to the idealized version of potential my mom has built me up to be. I'm just out here doing it for me. I'm publishing it. And it doesn't have to be good. It's just about me enjoying myself!

You know, the thing that you squirt paint onto and it spins around and makes a kind of trippy but sort of cool splatter design? 

That’s what my brain is doing with new writing ideas this week. Just... slopping them onto a spinning canvas with no regard for human life. It is such a mess in there. 

All I wanted out of this week was to finish one (1) chapter of a current wip - on which I have made some headway but STILL - here I am with three (3) BRAND FUCKING NEW ideas just splattering around with reckless abandon.
