“Salazar’s sake, James, how do you see out of these things?” Regulus asked incredulously, looking around with James’s too-large glasses on his small face and squinting.

“Well of course they wouldn’t work on you, you have perfect vision.” James grumbled, making a swipe for his glasses and missing.

“It’s ridiculous how horrible your eyesight is.” Regulus commented, before taking them off. “It kind of hurts.”

“Great, then you can give them back!” James chirped, grabbing for them again. Regulus snatched them away, catching James’s chin with his free hand.

“But your eyes are so pretty.” He pouted, staring admiringly into the hazel irises. James’s hand dropped, body gone limp, staring back up at Regulus. Regulus grinned, a slow, satisfied thing. He leaned forward, gave James a quick kiss, then bounced up to stand on the bed.

“Hey!” James cried, floundering to stand up with him while Regulus watched with humor. James lunged forward, but Regulus just hopped to the other end. He cackled mirthfully.

“C’mon, Reggie.” James wailed, leaning against the bedpost as though worn out. Regulus stood at the head of the bed, smiling victoriously.

“What do you need your glasses for, anyway?” He asked, twirling them between his fingers. “You’re half-blind even with them.” It was then James took one giant step forward, pinning Regulus against the wall.

“To see your pretty face, love.” He grinned, plucking his glasses from a suddenly flustered Regulus’s fingers. James pressed a kiss to the boy’s parted lips, then ran out of the room.

Two seconds later he heard footsteps following him, accompanied by a screeched “James Potter! You can’t just say things like that!!”
