Grown-up not allowed !

Platonic Hoozuki x mizuko spirit reader

Note : Mizuko are children that were either stillborn, or only lived for a short time. They exists in limbo at the Sai no Kawara (riverbank of sai no kami) and spends their time stacking stones into towers in order to try and reach paradise.

Hoozuki looked over the scrolls he was studying as Lord Enma cleared his throat to get his attention.

"Hoozuki, do you think you can go check the mizuko spirits at Sai no Kawara today?" Said Lord Enma, unsure of what to say next. "I've received complains of people saying that the mizuko had been aggressive toward them, they even started throwing stones at people passing by. Maybe something made them angry."

Hoozuki sighed before looking back to the scroll. "I'll go check on them after my shift. Knowing them, they must surely follow (Y/n)'s shenanigans."

"I know that (Y/n) was always known for being a difficult child, but she never ordered the other mizuko to attack people before." Lord Enma seemed quite taken aback by Hoozuki's comment, judging by the look on his face. "Maybe a little group of dissident mizuko acted without Y/n's consent?"

"I don't think so" responded Hoozuki, without tearing his gaze out the scroll. "They love and respect her too much to do something like this. And even if that was really the case, she would have deal with this already. She knows how to manage her troops."

Lord Enma sighed when he heard these words. "Maybe it was a bad idea to let her rule over the Sai no Kawara."

"Letting a child rule a part of the underworld will always be a bad idea. You just wanted less work on your shoulders." Pointed Hoozuki, a dark aura surrounding him as he was continuing to criticize the decisions of the Great King of Hell. "Now this area is slowly starting to get out of control, and I have to fix your mistakes again."

"Ah! I'm sorry! Don't get mad at me please!" Lord Enma said as he stepped back away from Hoozuki.

Hoozuki walked along the edge of the Sanzu river in order to reach the Sai no Kawara. On his way, he met Nasubi and Karauri and allowed them to tag along with him. Maybe children looking oni could make contact easier.

"Whoa! It that Sai no Kawara?" exclaimed Nasubi "It's so beautiful!"

"Beautiful?" Said Karauri puzzled "It's a blind channel which ground is covered with stones, and the abundance of sotōba and small windmills make it quite morbid."

"Oh, look at those stone towers!" he pointed the stacks of stones of different sizes "Look how high they get! They could almost touch the sky."

"Do not touch them. If we knock over their stone towers, it will upset them. Especially because we're onis."

"They don't like onis?" Asked Karauri, who was stopping Nasubi to approach the stone towers.

"For a long time," started Hoozuki "onis used to go here and knock the towers over, until Jizo Bosatsu chased them away. Normally it is Jizo Bosatsu who's in charge of the mizuko spirits. However, since he can't be here continually, it's (Y/n) who's in charge of the place."

"Lord Enma let a child rule this place?" Asked Karauri dazed.

"Well, who else but a child can know better what the other children want?" Stated Nasubi.

Suddenly, Nasubi stumbled on a pebble and fell right against some stone towers, making them collapse on others who collapsed on others, like dominos, until all of them were knocked down. Cries of frustration and sadness were suddenly heard around them.

"WHAAA! MY TOWER! THEY KNOCKED DOWN MY TOWER!" Said a spirit.

"I SPEND SO MANY TIME TRAINING TO BUILT MY TOWER QUICKLY! I DID ALL OF THIS FOR NOTHING!" Screamed another.

"I WAS SO PROUD OF MY TOWER! I WANTED TO WIN THE CONTEST SO BAD! NOW EVERYTHING IS RUINED! Cried another.

"IT'S ALL THOSE ONIS' FAULT! THERE'RE HERE TO BE MEAN AGAIN!" Fulminated one of them, while pointing to Hoozuki, Nasubi and Karauri.

The mizuko spirits circled the three oni and started to shout at them.

"Hey! What happened here? What happened to the towers?"

Here standed (Y/n), the mizuko spirit in charge of the Sai no Kawara. The angry look on her face contrasted with the childish softness of her face. One of the younger spirits grab the helm of her white sleeve and pointed his figer at the trio of onis.

"Those mean onis knocked our towers down. We were so excited for this contest. Now it's all over the ground." The spirit hugged (Y/n) and cried in her white kimono.

"You bunch of filthy demons! You ruined our stone-stacking contest! They had worked hard for this, and you just come here and destroy everything!"

"WERE'RE SO SORRY!" screamed Karauri and Nasubi, "IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!"

"(Y/n), I get reports that you, mizuko spirits, had attacked people passing by. I'm here to make you stop this misbehavior right now." Said Hoozuki, completly unfazed by the chaos around him.

"We were protecting our territory! Since we're forbidden of leaving the Sai no Kawara, we have decreed that all adults were forbidden to come here. So, when an adult come in our place, we chase them away."

"This place is under the jurisdiction of Lord Enma, you have no right to decide what is allowed or not. Now stop this nonsense, or I'll have to punish you all." Threatened Hoozuki, while holding his kanabō in a threatening manner.

"You demons are all the same." mutter angrily (Y/n) "You forbid us to get out of here, then come here and make fun of us, knock our stone towers over again and again; and when we want to fight back, you punish us." She smirked "You will become our new base to stack stones, after we'll have burred you under them! Mizuko! On the attack!"

"YES BIG SISTER (Y/N)!" Exclaimed the young spirits.

They took stones and started to throw them at the trio while (Y/n) quickly built high stone towers and knocked them over to make the stone fall on them. Nasubi and Karauri were quickly overwhelmed by the flow of stones throwing at them, while Hoozuki easily warded them with his kanabō.

Seeing that simple pebbles wouldn't be enough to defeat Hoozuki, (Y/n) started to throw large rocks at them, to distract Hoozuki of the group of spirits that were bringing their ultimate weapon.

"Enough game onis!" Shouted (Y/n) "Now face our ultimate weapon : The sacred Sanzu's boulder!"

At this words, a large group of spirits came with a giant boulder. So big that it took thirty spirits to carry it.

"WE'RE DOOMED!" Screamed Karauri "IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT NASUBI!"

"IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!"

"Mizuko, at my signal. THROW!"

The spirits threw the boulder at the onis with strength and drive. Karauri and Nasubi cried over their fateful demise when, at a bound, Hoozuki jumped toward the bolder and broke it into piece with a single blow.

(Y/n) and the other children watched, taken aback, the pieces of their "ultimate weapon" fall around them like their stone towers.

"Now" Said Hoozuki while sending the miserable children a dark glare "About your punishment."

"I- It's- IT'S SO UNFAIR!" Cried (Y/n) while bursting into tears. "We're cooped up here, doing nothing but piling rocks all day. We find it fun to do stacking contests, but we want to see other places! We want to see the animals, we want to go to the festivals, we want to see the celestial garden! But we are forbidden to go out, and when we complain, when we say we feel bad, we are laughed at and pushed aside."

At hearing (Y/n) cry, all the children started crying.

"We didn't meant to hurt people." Said a mizuko between tears "We just wanted to be take seriously."

"Don't punish us please." Said (Y/n) while sniffing "We're sorry. We will not do that again."

Hoozuki looked at the crying children and thought a little.

"I think I know how to fix this situation."

"Well, I must thank you to have fix this problem quickly Hoozuki. What could have happened if we had let them alone longer." Thanked Lord Enma, while sipping his tea.

"They were left aside too long. The underworld cannot judge them because they died too soon to have done something good or bad, so they left them here, not wanting to take care of them. They had their right to be upset." Said Hoozuki while looking at the scene in front of him :

Mizuko spirits were playing with the animals from the Animal Hell, while some were petting them and some others were throwing stones at sinners.

"Making them take part of the torture of the sinners was maybe a little too much, don't you think?"

"They're exempted of any sins, they are well placed to judge sinners, and it make them bound with the onis, so they will not knock their stone towers over again."

"Hey Hoozuki!"

The two men looked over the source of the voice to see (Y/n) with a goldfish grass in her hands.

"It's for you. I heard you liked them." Said (Y/n) while holding the plant toward Hoozuki.

"Thank you (Y/n). I hope that you all like your new condition."

"Oh! We love it! We can pet and play with the animals, even miss Karashi, and miss Oko and the women of Shugo hell give us the sinners who were judged for pimping and having forced someone to abort or abandon their child against their will. We stack stones on their back, torso or head and if they make it collapse, we start again, but with bigger stones."

"I don't know how to feel when hearing that coming from a little girl." Said Lord Enma with a concerned expression.

"Will you come see our next stone stacking contest? The goal is to make the highest stone tower on the head of a sinner, without making it collapse."

"I would love to see it."

"Maybe I should have take care of the problem instead."
