Stubby the small shepherd. Was told she's half corgi and half german shepherd. Supposedly she's incredibly inteligent, I think she's just stupid faster. I have her to herd all of my ducks, which rarely goes well. I think she's half police dog cause she just wants to arrest them all.
Levi is doing better, we found out he’s allergic to fish as well as all bird and egg 😰 it’s not going to be fun trying to feed him but I will have the mental space to start working on tiny Bruno adventures again soon
While not the highest quality video, I wanted to share something I do with Stormy. This is a consent test, where he is laying on me and I hold my hand near to let him decide if he wants me to pet him. He nudges, licks, and noses my hand towards his neck for rubs. I then check his eyes to see if they get a ‘sleepy’ or relaxed look to be sure I am petting the spots he wants. Reading body language is important with all types of pets.
Remember if you want your pet to trust you, letting them have choices in situations that are appropriate is important. No you can’t let them choose to run out into the road, or to not have their nails trimmed, but you can let them choose when to snuggle or be pet. If I want to snuggle, I pat my lap. Sometimes he comes up, sometimes he doesn’t. Sometimes he comes up without being invited. By offering him this choice it makes him more comfortable interacting with me. Especially important with nervous dogs like him!
