"I'm bought and sold, aren't I?" said Vimes, shaking his head. "Bought and sold."
"Not at all," said Vetinari.
"Yes, I am. We all are. Even Rust. And all those poor buggers who went off to get slaughtered. We're not part of the big picture, right? We're just bought and sold."
Vetinari was suddenly in front of Vimes, his chair hitting the floor behind his desk.
"Really? Men marched away, Vimes. And men marched back. How glorious the battles would have been that they never had to fight!" He hesitated, and then shrugged. "And you say bought and sold? All right. But not, I think, needlessly spent." The Patrician flashed one of those sharp, fleeting little smiles to say that something that wasn't very funny had nevertheless amused him. "Veni, vici...Vetinari."

how to create a budget: for beginners
Tumblr media
budgeting doesn't have to be daunting, especially if you're just starting out. here are some simple steps to help you create a budget as a beginner:
track your expenses: start by tracking all of your expenses for a month. this includes everything from rent and groceries to dining out and entertainment. use a spreadsheet, budgeting app, or pen and paper to record your expenses and categorize them.
calculate your income: determine how much money you bring in each month after taxes and other deductions. this includes your salary, freelance income, side hustle earnings, and any other sources of income.
set financial goals: think about what you want to achieve with your money, whether it's saving for a vacation, paying off debt, or building an emergency fund. set specific, achievable goals that align with your values and priorities.
categorize your expenses: organize your expenses into categories such as housing, transportation, groceries, utilities, entertainment, and savings. this will help you see where your money is going and identify areas where you can cut back if needed.
create a spending plan: based on your income and expenses, create a spending plan that outlines how much you'll allocate to each category. aim to prioritize essentials like housing, food, and transportation, while also setting aside money for savings and debt repayment.
track your progress: regularly review your budget and track your spending to see how well you're sticking to your plan. make adjustments as needed to stay on track with your financial goals.
build an emergency fund: aim to set aside money each month in an emergency fund to cover unexpected expenses like car repairs, medical bills, or job loss. start with a small amount and gradually work your way up to having three to six months' worth of living expenses saved.
be flexible and patient: budgeting is a learning process, and it's okay to make mistakes along the way. be patient with yourself and stay flexible as you adjust to your new financial habits. remember, every step you take towards managing your money better is a step in the right direction.

"The trauma made you kind"
Fuck that. No !!! I am kind because I cannot allow anyone to go through what I did. I am soft because I chose to be.
Trauma made me scared, angry and vulnerable.
I made myself kind.

Do you think ancient artists ever imagined their artwork would be worth so little? So much is spent - hoarding and coveting. Yet, the art was created to convey a message. I'm sure for most, the message wasn't greed. ⁂12.2023.02 4.49n

Help ;-;
I know I don't use this platform much. I haven't done so for... the better part of two years now.
But I am hoping and praying that maybe this reaches the right people today. I am in serious trouble. Financially.
Long story short, I went through an SA experience. This resulted in my getting sick, which impacted my ability to work... which later resulted in my termination from employment. I don't really know what to do or where to go from here. I'm applying for jobs left, right and centre and attending as many interviews as physically possible, but I'm at the point where I won't even be able to afford rent next fortnight.
Basically, I guess I'm just... hoping that someone, anyone, can help me out. Even just a little bit. I've got a link to a fundraiser I'm attempting, but even if people aren't able to help me out by donating I would be forever grateful if someone could spread the word or share my link.
Thanks for listening, everyone. Really.
