Bedivere x Arturia - Ship it

What made you ship it?

TBH I was one of those few people who shipped it based on that like 2 second scene at the end of FSN. The Camelot Singularity just reinforced it. A lot came from the original Arthurian legend as well. Bedivere is similarly insanely loyal as he is in the game, and like in Fate lore, he’s been with Arthur longer than most.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

He journeyed so far for so long just to see her smile OH MY GOD BRB IM SOBBING HOLY CRAP CAN YOU JUST IMAGINE—

I’m a sucker for intensely loyal knights and I will always be. ALWAYS.

THE ANGST POTENTIALLLLLL but also THE FLUFF POTENTIALLLL

This man loved his king so bloody intensely. So strongly that his desire to see her survived the test of time. To be loved so much, so unconditionally for a thousand and a half years? Gods, that’s just too much, man. ;-;

And I absolutely adore how much it means to him to remain her knight, even if he tends to be insecure about the limb that he lacks, and how he believes he is nothing special in comparison with everyone else. I love that Arturia recognizes his strength and his worth, even if he himself can’t see it.

Irisviel x Arturia - Ship It

What made you ship it?

I think I was bound to the moment I watched Fate Zero. When I was younger it was overshadowed by the feels Diarturia brought and not to mention Kiritsugu and Iri but this ship is damn good on its own.

What sold it though, is the argument she and Kiritsugu have in Episode 16, right after the last Saber and Lancer fight. Irisviel, who we all know loves her husband so much, forced Kiritsugu to answer Saber. That’s just how important Arturia was to her.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

I think they both found in each other something they themselves lack. It’s actually kind of funny. Arturia is human, and yet she’s so heavily consumed by her ideals that she doesn’t act like one. Irisviel, on the other hand, is not human, and yet everything that she does and wants to do is exactly that.

Throughout the anime, Being with Iri puts Saber into such mundane, ordinary situations that it teaches her to live. The suits, the escorting, being a passenger instead of a driver, appreciating the water by the seashore, etc. It's like the woman wants to leave her with some appreciation for the world, especially when she herself doesn’t have all that much time left.

On Irisviel’s part, I think she found in Saber the companionship she would have wanted from Kiritsugu during the last few days she remained on the Earth. Arturia had been the perfect knight in shining armor, taking Irisviel around to see the world as much as they could amidst a war. If they’d just had more time, I have no doubt Arturia would have taken Irisviel even more places, you know?

It makes me sad :( but in a good way.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I’m pretty sure Irisviel would wear the pants in this relationship ya know what I mean? Hahaha

Much as I love this ship, I think that it becomes all the more valuable because of how it ended. To each other, they were this brief, fleeting feeling of happiness. A love that was so short and yet so strong.

Shirou x Arturia - Don't Ship it

Hooooooo boi. Hear me out, mkay ? But this is just my personal opinion so pls no hate

Why don't you ship it?

I’m gonna start out by saying I don’t think I need to, tbh. Hahaha there’s enough content for this ship being fed to us, so my liking it or not is immaterial. But the reason is well...I watched FSN and Shirou x Saber was...not the best thing about it (the best thing about it was the soundtrack omg iconic) Shirou comes off as a bit of a misogynist, and kind of immature, and the whole time it’s like he doesn’t really listen to Arturia at all. Plus, it’s kind of like he just likes her looks at times. The final deciding factor was the date scene. That was just unbearable.

But then I go online and I see all this good stuff about them. And my friend ships them cause they’re canon, right? So, I’m like okay, what if I judged too quickly, let’s play the VN...and I did. And I still didn’t like him with Saber at all. So, I played the next route, watched the next anime, trying to redeem 1st route Shirou as much as I could but it just....didn’t happen. I think I can safely say I tried to like them. I really did. But no.

What would have made you like it?

Removing the misogyny and the immaturity and letting him listen to her. Like he should have.

At no point in their interactions did it feel like they were standing on equal ground, ever. Either he was speaking over her or the opposite. So less of that and a lot more respect.

And when you compare this relationship to what he has with like with his other two love interests, it makes this ship fall completely flat. It’s pretty...bland and honestly kind of shallow. It’s like the story just tells you they’re in love but there’s no answer to why they’re in love. Make him fall in love with her for her without necessarily forcing his need to save everyone on her.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

I may not like how they got there, but in the end Arturia was able to pass peacefully.

I acknowledge that Shirou was important and made a change in her life.

That ending scene where they meet after so long, NGL is pretty sweet.

A lot of my headcanons happen post-Shirou, so there’s also that.

Archer x Rin -Ship it

What made you ship it?

Tsundere x Cynic has gotta be one of the best dynamics out there.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

His true identity. The fact that she dragged him all the way across space and time to return as her Servant, that’s just bloody fate at work.

The fact that he keeps acknowledging she’s a strong Master despite his later conduct in UBW.

Archer is ridiculously crass and Rin is easily riled up. In the Fifth Holy Grail War, they had the best Master-Servant relationship period. They have this explosive chemistry that just works so well.

When he smiles at her at the end of the route, and you just know that Tohsaka’s gonna be stubborn enough to make sure Shirou doesn’t end up going down the exact same path.

I think it’s sweet that he ends up going along with her whims because he secretly likes housework.

THE PRINCESS CARRY/ CATCH. MAN OH MAN.

Unlike the previous ship mentioned here, these two actually stand on equal ground with each other.

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

I don't think it's exactly an unpopular opinion, but I think they really ought to have more official content y'know? Rin is important in every route, and Archer's the actual climax of UBW and also entirely significant across three routes.

Medusa x Sakura - Don't ship it

Why don't you ship it?

Because while journeying through the routes, I always saw Rider as more of a best friend/sort of motherly figure to Sakura.

Or that Rider fulfilled the kind of relationship that she wanted to have with Rin, while Sakura unknowingly filled the void Medusa's sisters left in her life. I thought she was more of a guardian angel really, not a romantic interest. Kind of like how Heracles was to Illya.

What would have made you like it?

If I could maybe forget about the threesome with Shirou and the implied romantic feelings Rider has for him in Ataraxia that would be great.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

Sakura deserves all the happiness in the world and I really do believe that Rider could fulfill that.

Diarmuid x Cú - Ship it

What made you ship it?

oooh this probably sounds surprising since based on my content you'd think, no i dont ship this BUT I DOOOOOOO (i just happen to hc them as bros more often)

Honestly what did make me ship it is the parallels.

What are your favorite things about the ship?

IMO They have the biggest potential for hurt/comfort amongst all the ships mentioned here.

They can help each other get through their trauma. Their whole relationship would be extremely healing and supportive.

I love that Diarmuid seems to have idolized Cú Chulainn at some point and honestly who wouldn't be honored to stand beside him, no?

They could be up to the funniest shenanigans because Cú is chaos and Diarmuid would absolutely be an enabler because when he isn't angst-ing he's super damn chill.

Bros being bros hahahah...unless?

Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?

Not really. Maybe that I think Lancer Diar and Cascu would get along better and Saber Diar and Lancer Cu would also get along better but honestly any form is good this ship is good

Do You Love Me? Lancer Cu Chulainn x Reader

Yo! How are you doing on this fine day? ^^ Thank you very much for clicking on this fanfic of mine, its the first time i've really written for Cú so i apologize if it seems out of character for him.... but i had fun writing it! And i hope you do like it!

P.S. I had originally planned for this to be only 150 words T^T but i got carried away slightly....Whelp! i like the length of it now so i hope you guys like it ^^ enjoy!

P.S.S A quick translation! Mo sholas geal = My Starlight

Today was the day. The final day you had to ask him about his feelings. You had sent a simple text asking him to meet you in the gardens by the side of the church, now you just had to wait for his arrival. Your phone had buzzed its usual jingle played when you received a text message in reply saying that he’d be there, so you felt a tad bit relieved that he had got your text and had decided to meet up with you but that didn’t stop time from feeling like it was going by slower then a snail, so you paced along the church’s garden path in the hopes that it would go quicker.

Stopping to admire certain flowers every so often, you paused at the neat rows of white chrysanthemum. You smiled reaching out to touch the silk petals of white, swirling your painted index finger nail gently until white faded turned into the pale yellow of its centre taking in its beauty as you did so. Your mind wondered into a blank oblivion as you hummed a tune from your childhood; when mother would braid your hair while telling you fairy-tales of princesses, dragons and dashing knights in gilded steel armour. Such a simpler time…

You squeaked as familiar warm hands covered your eyes and warm breath hit the shell of your ear sending pleasant chills down your spine.

“Yo!” – He had always been taller then you and used it constantly against you, his chest behind your back and long locks twisted against yours as he gently tipped you back into him – “Guess who?”

You giggled, your hands quickly rising to cover his as you leant more into his warmth, it was always easy to guess who it was after-all he’d been doing this since Secondary School.

“Come on Cu” You said, a soft giggle once more passing from your lips “I know it’s you!”

He Chuckled, removing his hands and retreating a few steps to give you space to turn. It was then when his breathe caught in the back of his throat at how beautiful you looked, properly taking you in then from the quick glance over he’d done before. A pale blue dress that that hugged your sides nicely, off the shoulder sheer cape sleeves draped themselves elegantly down and blended with the equally as elegant double layered skirt. On a closer inspection what he thought to be a plain ombre white blue lace turned out to be lace flowers in various sizes methodically falling from your sleeves and chest until they stopped around your waist,

“…. beautiful”

“Hm? Did you say something Cu?”- You asked coming out of the bubble of trying to straighten out the shear lace layer of your dress

“I might have~” He purred cheekily, a certain glint twinkling in his eyes as he fiddled with the end of his loose braid

You smiled slightly, pausing to take in a deep breathe before turning to face Cu with some confidence.

“Um, I have something to ask you” you manged to stutter out, pressing your pointer fingers together as the breeze fiddled idle with the embroidered hem of your dress

Cu blinked. A perfectly shaped eyebrow was raised in slight confusion as vermilion eyes flickered briefly to the watch on his left wrist taking in the time before meeting your worried (E/C) orbs. A gentle smile crossed his face,

“Ya know we don’t have much time….so we should be quick about this” he began tenderly “but ok Gorgeous, go ahead!”

You gulped as a rosy hue crossed your cheeks; for a moment you couldn’t speak nor could you fully stare into Cu’s eyes. You took a deep breathe as you built up what little confidence you had inside before speaking,

“I’d like to know if you really….um…. love me?”

Cu paused. A small “eh?” escaped his lips as he stared at you. Confusion written so clearly on his face it was like shirou had something stupid (again), it was silent between the two of you as the gears in his head turned, but he started laughing soon after.

“Babe” he began “Darling, we’ve been together for 6 years and we are getting married in 10 minutes”

With a confident stride he swept you up, giggling as you squeaked when being spun around, before setting you down gently. Softly pressing his forehead Cu stared languidly at you, a barely visible smirk tugged at his lips something that he only really did when he was planning on doing something, something he wasn’t meant to,

“I love you...”- he pressed a quick kiss against your lips before pulling back to smugly grin at your flushed face – “…I love you a lot, Mo sholas geal”

“And I love you” You murmured, cheeks still stained with a rose hue “…. But I’m afraid if you keep kissing me, you’ll ruin my lipstick and you know how Rin gets…...”

“I know I know,” He began “But its not my fault you’re so kissable”

You gently slapped his forearm as you snickered. But soon you both fell into a comfortable silence, swaying slightly from side to side as you enjoyed each other’s warmth and love. Cu pulled away from your embrace to look at his watch, eyes widening briefly before looking back at you with a small smile and tugging you into the direction of the inside of the church

“Now! I think we’ve been out here for long enough” He began “What do you say we get this show on the road and get married!”

You smiled warmly, giving his hand a small squeeze as the nervousness and excitement came back full force……what a wonderful set of feelings to have.

Nope.

My reasons includes spoilers for Fate/Stay Night, Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works, and Fate/Zero, so I stuck it under the thing (if anyone cares to read it).

Gilgamesh

I feel like I could point to any one of his personality traits and say that's why I don't like him, but I thought I'd list some examples anyway.

Irritable

He only seems to like talking to people he finds interesting; most of the time in Fate/Zero you see Gilgamesh with Kirei. This might just be me, but he seemed exasperated while talking to Tokiomi as if conversing with Tokiomi were a chore or beneath him. And I get the impression most people would fall into the category Tokiomi was in.

No sense of Duty

When caster Gilles turned into a giant tentacle monster in the middle of the lake, Gilgamesh had zero interest in helping to protect Fuyuki or its citizens. Even at his master's request, he does less than the bare minimum of what could be considered helping. I’d be super disappointed if I summoned a heroic spirit and he decided to just watch.

Selfish

He wants Artoria, but she's not a person to Gilgamesh; she's an object. He finds her interesting and decides he wants to own her. He knows she has her own sense of autonomy, but doesn't believe that's as or more important than his own desires. She hates him, but that's not a deterrent because he doesn't care.

Questionable Ethics

When he was watching Kirei indulge himself for the first time (which involved driving a man insane), Gilgamesh wasn't even slightly disturbed; if anything, he seemed a bit bored.

I feel like Gilgamesh is a character you either love or hate, but your reasoning will be the same; "He's a bastard," vs, "He's a glorious bastard." I like a few hot mess characters myself, but they know they're garbage. Honestly, I struggle to find any good traits in Gilgamesh.

Shirou

While I can find some nice things to say about Shirou, I don't like him either; I like him more than Gilgamesh though. Let me throw a disclaimer in here real quick: my critique of Shirou is based on the anime. If Aniplex.exe ever decides to release the visual novel, I might reevaluate how I feel about Shirou.

Fatally Stupid

He insists on continuing to go to school as he always has, but doesn't let Artoria go with him. Instead he promises to use a command seal to summon her if he gets into trouble...And then he fails to do that. Remember when he found himself facing Rider? She had him dangling in a tree by his arm! And that time he decided it would be ok to hang out with Illyasviel (while she was still Heracles's master)? That got him kidnapped. Honestly, I can live with him not being a proper magus and being incapable of powering Artoria so she could fight at her full potential, but I wish he had made up for that by being at least a little smarter or willing to work with/listen to his servant more. This may be my own headcanon, but I think any injury he sustains is a mark against Saber's honor. She is a knight in his service so his survival is her responsibility. Any injury he sustains is, what she may view, as a failing on her part.

Sexist Parading Around as Chivalrous

He doesn't want Saber to fight because she's female. She's a seasoned warrior who's probably spent more time on the battlefield than Shirou's spent on Earth. With the way he insists on her staying on the sidelines, you'd think he wanted to take her place because he's a superior fighter. But, no; I'm not even sure that prior to meeting Artoria he so much as punched somebody. Artoria’s fighting ability aside, she has magic resistant armor and a holy sword. What did Shirou have when he jumped between Saber and Berserker? Jeans and a t-shirt. Dumb luck and (unknowingly) being in possession of Avalon are probably the only reasons he survived the Grail War at all. The reason this gets it's own category is because it's insulting to Saber in a different way than my last point.

Pushes His Ideals/Thoughts on Others

I'm not sure how or why he thought staying in the present would make Artoria happy, but he won't let it go. He has every right to want her to be happy, but the thing he doesn't understand is that he doesn't get to decide what that looks like for her. He figures it out at the very end, so unfortunately we don't get to see how this knowledge would change his interactions with Artoria.

As a bit of a side note, for someone who claims he's in love with her, he doesn't take much of an interest in her past. He may want her to move forward, but everything that she's been through shaped who she is now. Having that context wouldn't hurt. And, to avoid making her uncomfortable, his questions wouldn't even have to be super personal. Something like, "Can you tell me about the round table? There are a couple of designs of what it could've looked like and there's no consensus on how many people it could accommodate. Where there assigned seats?" would've been perfectly fine. I'm sure she could've talked for hours about her code of chivalry or Cavall if he had bothered to ask.

Also, for some reason, Shirou hugging Artoria in the hallway and her telling him to let go is sticking in my mind. Listen. If person A likes something, it doesn't give person B the right to do it, especially if person A says "no" or "stop." Consent is super important.

Fun fact: I don't think I'd mind Shirou so much if he were a side character. But because he's the protagonist, we have to sit through him doing this stuff all the time. It just gets old.

Archer Emiya

My dislike for Shirou is so strong, it even oozes into Archer Emiya a bit. In Unlimited Blade Works, if I were Rin, I would've told Cu Chulainn, "When you go fight Archer, use whatever force you deem necessary to win; I have no use for traitors." I dunno. Instead of deciding on his own to try to get Saber for Rin, I think he should've talked to her about it first. Plus leaving her tied to that chair was dangerously stupid. Maybe he was worried about her interfering with his match with Shirou, but if Shirou's own servant took a seat on the side-lines, I'm sure there would've been a way to convince Rin not to interfere.

If anyone's still reading at this point, I guess it'll come to no surprise that I don't ship Artoria with either Shirou or Gilgamesh (since I did talk a bit about their relationships with her). But, I won't attack anyone who does; my bff ships Artoria with Gilgamesh. I don't get it, but her enjoyment of her ship does not affect my ability to enjoy my ships (Artoria x Bedivere, Artoria x Diarmuid, and Artoria x Guinevere x maybe-Lancelot-sometimes).

Space Ishtar is clearly modeled after Extra Rin. She has red on her ribbons like Rin does in Fate/Extra, and red in her hair like Rin’s Cu Chulainn demi-Servant form does in F/E Last Encore.

I’m not saying she is Extra Rin, since she’s from the same Star Wars parody alternate dimension as Mysterious Heroine X. Just that she’s clearly modeled after her.
