“I don’t remember the Clave inviting you into the Glass City, Magnus Bane.”
“They didn’t,” Magnus said. “Your wards are down.”
“Really?” The Consul’s voice dripped in sarcasm. “I hadn’t noticed.”
Magnus looked concerned. “That’s terrible. Someone should have told you.” He glanced at Luke. “Tell him the wards are down.”

Tis time for an update because in the past few days I have felt very overwhelmed. It's been an intense couple of days made of big decisions. After a very emotional session with my therapist and talking with my parents I came to the conclusion that the healtest thing to do now is to take a break from studying and try to recover from this burn out. I decided to drop out from my class, I will take the exam with more materials like people who don't follow lectures, and I will be doing that in the future. I am now going to take the next month to rest and not study, and after this pause I will plan my next moves and exams. I will have to fight my guilt response a bit but this is truly the only thing I can do to mend my health right now. Hopefully taking this month off will get me back on my feet because I am not in a great place right now. To avoid making this update too negative here are some happy things that happened in the past few days:
met the two tiny goats my uncle got, got to cuddle one and she fell asleep in my arms
had a lovely walk in the woods which felt very healing
redescovered cross stitch embroidery as an hobby and it's sparking so much joy
had a trip to the bookstore with my mom and got a couple of graphic novels
talked to the professor of the class I am dropping out of and she was extremely comprehensive and offered so much help in case I will need any
had yet another friend date that was very recharing
helped my brother with painting walls at his place

“Alec?” Magnus was staring at him. He had dispatched the remaining Iblis demons, and the was empty but for the two of them. “Did you just—did you just save my life?”
Alec knew he ought to say something like, Of course, because I’m a Shadowhunter and that’s what me do, or That’s my job. Jace would have said something like that. Jace always knew the right thing to say. But the words that actually came out of Alec’s mouth were quite different—and sounded petulant, even to his own ears. “You never called me back,” he said. “I called you so many times and you never called me back.”
Magnus looked at Alec as if he’d lost his mind. “Your city is under attack,” he said. “The wards have been broken, and the streets are full of demons. And you want to know why I haven’t called you?”
Alec set his jaw in a stubborn line. “I want to know why you haven’t called me back.”
Magnus threw his hands up in the air in a gesture of utter exasperation. Alec noted with interest that when he did it, a few sparks escaped from his fingertips, like fireflies escaping for a jar. “You’re an idiot.”

The past couple of days have been filled with lots of reading, good food, and increasingly better weather. The sound of cicades plays in the backgroud continuously and I can feel my body slowly realxing as it should. After finishing Nona The Ninth, I read and fell in love with A Psalm For The Wild-Built. That little book brought me so much joy and peace, and I think it will stay at the back of my mind for a good while. At last yesterday I decided to pick up The Poppy War, and today only I read 150 pages. For some reason I was expecting to find some difficulties getting into the story, but I am glued to the pages, and I don't even realize how fast I am reading it.
Chill hobbit summer things of the last few days:
Drinking tea and eating raspberry jam in the morning sun
Reading at the beach while blasing music in my earphones
Listening to podcast as I color mandalas (I am caught up with re:dracula, and ethics town, and I also started and got caught up with the antiquarium of sinister happenings)
Enjoing good food
Keeping up with my daily practice of Irish on duolingo

I started reading Loki: Journey Into Mystery by Katherine Locke. It is a print adaption of the graphic novel Thor: Journey Into Mystery (2011), and I think I finally understand the concept of variants. At least the ones in Loki's story arcs because it can be sort of confusing in those arcs. Because they aren't from different universes -- they are past lives in Journey Into Mystery and in Agent Of Asgard. So you have to wonder if maybe that's a metaphor for something.
Anyway, I think the story they've been telling......is that Loki is neurodivergent, and he felt like an old soul because he was parentified and had to grow up too quickly. So he ended up being an emotionally underdeveloped adult and that is what Kid Loki represents. And Classic Loki -- in the post 2011 arcs -- represents who he was as a child and a teen: Someone who wrecked havoc and did terrible things because he wanted love and acceptance and wasn't getting it. And as Loki evolves from an emotionally undeveloped young adult to a slightly more mature adult, he is exploring his sexuality and gender and that is when he realizes he will never fit in because on top of everything else he's queer.
He realizes he will never fit in and that even though it's not his fault he fucked up as a kid he can't keep blaming his parents and Thor. He has to stop caring about his bad reputation and own up to his mistakes, but the whole time he's struggling with mental health issues. He pushes people away because of trauma and he self-sabotages.
And it's....It's an incredibly beautiful and tragic story. But this is just my personal theory. A headcanonnon, I guess.
You should really read the comics, though, peeps. Cause they're so much fun and so beautiful, and Loki is so much more nuanced that what we've seen in the MCU. And read this book cause that's what helped bring clarity to Loki's character arc. Geeze, I want to cry now.
