I was late getting away from the office today. It’s an interesting place to be at the moment. I biked home as the sun was setting. I stopped to watch a while as I rode through the wetlands. It was pretty chilly out there so I didn’t stop for long. When I got home I was just too cold to go back out and gather the last steps of the day so I put the fire on and did some tidying to get to 10k.

Taking in the golden hours on two wheels (of course.) The bikes get some aster flower crowns because ‘tis the season! (The flowers come from my garden of course.)
It won’t be long til these summer bikes are retired for the year, and then hopefully there will be plenty of snow to romp in on the winter bike.

Gunny Update 4.0:
Good news! Test results came back, & nothing there is too out of the ordinary. She's getting Hydrated™ and fed right now, so I'll pick her up later. (She has hypothermia/low body temp)
Apparently all the various health problems she's been having lately are consistent with elderly senior cats - her teeth aren't consistent with that but it could still be that she's secretly an old lady in actuality and not just spirit.

Made the mistake of cycling to and from work today. A rundown:
Morning. Rain started as I left the house. Stopped when I got to work. It was so cold that the areas of my bald palate exposed by the helmet only registered continuous pain like a toddler's tantrum.
Afternoon. Sunshine and gale force winds. I had the hand of god pushing back against me the entire cycle back (I swear I heard lolling on the wind). I'm used to a fairly tough setting on the exercise bike and do so for 40mins. I barely survived 15 minutes with the added wind challenge.
It does remind me of Rocky 4 though. When they're training for the match in Russia, Drago is using the latest gym equipment while Rocky is running up mountains. Having experienced the challenge rating given by nature, I understand how Rocky won.

Fuel Your Day with Two Wheels: Why Daily Cycling Should Be Your New Habit
The morning alarm screams, and your motivation hits the snooze button faster than a Tour de France champion. Sound familiar? We all crave healthy habits, but finding something enjoyable and sustainable can be a tricky climb.
But what if the answer was waiting right outside your door, whispering sweet nothings with two wheels and a breeze in its spokes?
Yes, friends, I'm talking about daily cycling. It's not just a nostalgic childhood memory; it's a powerful exercise routine that fuels your body, mind, and even the planet. Still not convinced? Let's crank up the gears and explore why you should consider making cycling your daily companion.
Health Benefits That Leave You Breathless (In a Good Way!)
Cycling isn't just about scenic rides and wind-tousled hair (although those are pretty awesome perks). It's a cardio king, strengthening your heart and lungs with every pedal stroke. This translates to lower blood pressure, reduced risk of diabetes, and even a stronger immune system. Feeling sluggish? A daily cycle invigorates your body, leaving you feeling energized and ready to conquer your day.
More Than Just a Physical Fix: Your Mental Wellness Gets a Tune-Up
Think cycling is just about leg power? Think again! Studies show that pedaling your way to work or enjoying a leisurely afternoon ride can significantly reduce stress and anxiety. The rhythmic motion and fresh air act as natural mood boosters, leaving you feeling calmer and more focused. Say goodbye to that post-work slump and hello to a clear, balanced mind.
Saving the Planet, One Pedal Stroke at a Time
Let's face it, our planet needs heroes, and cyclists are some of the coolest ones around. Ditching the car for your trusty two-wheeler reduces your carbon footprint and air pollution, making a real difference in the fight against climate change. Bonus points if you use your bike for errands or commuting – you'll be surprised how much you can accomplish on two wheels!
Accessibility: The Beauty of Cycling Lies in Its Simplicity
Unlike some forms of exercise, cycling doesn't discriminate. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or a weekend warrior, there's a bike and a pace out there for you. Start with short, leisurely rides and gradually increase distance or intensity as you build your fitness. Plus, it's easy on your joints, making it a perfect option for people of all ages and abilities.
Ready to Get Rolling?
So, are you ready to trade four wheels for two and experience the transformative power of daily cycling? It's an investment in your health, happiness, and the planet. Remember, small steps lead to big changes, so start with a ride around the block and see where the journey takes you. You might just surprise yourself with how much you enjoy the view (and the endorphin rush!).
Join the Movement!
Share your cycling journey in the comments below! What motivates you to ride? What are your favorite routes or tips for beginners? Let's build a community of cycling enthusiasts and inspire each other to keep pedaling towards a healthier, happier planet.
Remember, the road to a healthier you starts with a single pedal stroke. So, what are you waiting for? Get out there and ride!

It was chilly on the bike tonight. I had three layers of warm clothing on for the ride and I hardly raised a sweat. I did stop a few times along the way. A light display was being set up by the office and they were testing the lights. It looked pretty cool so I stopped for a look then I did some walking. I had been in meetings so had very few steps on the clock. Once out of the traffic I jumped onto the bike and rode until I got to the Wetlands where I stopped to watch the sunset and to get the feeling back in my fingers. I walked another k then rode some more until eventually I got home. All motivation to do a strength workout was gone. Maybe tomorrow.

Head versus car door at 35 kmph. Always wear your cycling helmet. I am still here because of it. I will spare you the more graphic photos. A brain bleed, missing teeth, stitched tongue and lips, bruising and rash everywhere but it could have been fatal. I was unconscious until inside the ambulance so I have no idea what happened after impact. Just lots of pain. Needless to say I will be off the bike for a while. Take care out there.

I forgot how unfriendly my part of the city I live in is to bikes. Literally at a large strip mall and there's no fuckin places to lock my bike up at.
