Writing: 1-2K word fics, socmed AUs, texts posts containing prose, poem, or hc collections.

Translating: mini-comic, a song, an audio drama, a video, or even a whole volume scanlation --as long as the source material is available, or you are willing to help provide it. Result will mostly be in script form, whether or not I post it publicly highly depends on source material /author consent.

Commissions: Why not open them? Well, I don't know how I feel about taking money for transformative works just yet. We'll see though. Capitalism does run the world, sadly.

Don'ts for requests:

- Reader insert media

- Non-con ships, and as an extension of this, ships involving minors.

- Love triangle or cheating tropes. Unless they decide to all date each other at the end, lol.

- Heavy angst, e.g. emotional manipulation or major character death. I'm okay with bad things happening, I just require a happy ending.

Rp Guidelines!

For this post, I'm going to explain how the server's roleplaying channel/s works!

It's pretty generic, but you can either write out an AU with characters/people of your choice or just simply converse in-character! There will be two channels for simple in-character talking and the AU you planned:)

Only three slots will be entertained for AU's! To avoid flooding and loss of ideas. Once we finish an AU; we will update the list and add whatever is in queue! Organized; maybe too organize even..oops.

Haikyuu!! Couples vs. Sex

These are from headcanons I came up with on a Discord server for couples who probably aren’t into sex/rarely have sex-

SakuAtsu: Sakusa probably isn't really into sex, like, at all. There's a chance he might have a rare moment, like a special occasion or smth (weddings, honeymoons, that sort of stuff-) but pretty much never. He's really cautious when getting in a relationship and probably states that he's not all that into it on the first day, used to people breaking it off when they find out, so he just gives them a chance to get out while they can. Since I'm a huge simp for SakuAtsu, here we go. Atsumu is like rlly arrogant and everything, he's shown to be a little narcissistic, but he's not stupid. He's able to adapt if he wants to and loves setting to people who he thinks are powerful. When Sakusa tells him that he's probably asexual, but he's not too sure, Atsumu won't care about it. Sex isn't something important to him, because he's proved that he only cares about the more practical things. He's extroverted, in a cocky way of course, but when it comes down to it he only cares if the team he's in are willing to cooperate and put in their all. He saw how Hinata worked in a group and was excited to one day set for him, sure he was attracted to Hinata's personality as well, but it was the way he played that drew him in. So long as Sakusa is willing to put his all into this relationship, he doesn't care about sex, he just wants Sakusa to love him.

UshiTen: Tendou is like- kind of insecure of his body, so he avoids sex and sometimes even relationships in general with a passion. Ushijima sees no point in sex, he doesn't understand the attraction nor does he think it's important for a relationship, he's the kind of guy who is like 'no sex before marriage' but rather than in a religious way he just wants the moment to be special with someone he can settle down with. So this factor comforts Tendou when they get into a relationship. Maybe a year or so into the relationship, Tendou feels comfortable with telling Ushijima why he avoids sex, tells him about his insecurities and Ushijima decides to help Tendou. When they get married, Tendou may not be comfortable with sex in general, but he trusts and loves Ushijima enough that with him, he can. Ushijima is just happy that Tendou trusts him enough to do something not only intimate but also something neither have experienced. That might be the only time they ever have sex too ig-

KuroKen: Similar to Sakusa, Kenma isn’t really into sex, so when he told Kuroo about this, he was scared that he’d leave him. Kenma was probably shocked when Kuroo asked him out and just blurted out all his insecurities and reasons why he shouldn’t date him. Kuroo, on the other hand, didn’t care. He just wanted Kenma to love him, to be someone he could one day marry. After a lot of talking and convincing, Kenma finally decided to try it out, though still wary that Kuroo might leave him. Once a few months have passed he’ll finally relax and be comfortable with their relationship, which will make Kuroo a lot happier. At first Kenma will probably tense up whenever Kuroo gets touchy, but after a while they’ll be into a lot of PDA and their teammates will complain about it 24/7. They probably end up never having sex, but that’s okay for Kuroo because he has Kenma with him and that’s all that matters.

TsukkiYama: I honestly don’t see either of them being into sex. Tsukishima sees no point in it and Yamaguchi went from being insecure to just not into it. They’d be incredibly intimate, though not into a lot of PDA, but they’ve just never crossed that line. They’d sleep together naked, cuddled up against each other, but neither of them is bothered by it in a sexual way. They might’ve tried it once, or gotten close to it, but figured out that neither of them were interested in it and decided that it’s just not for them. They still kiss and everything, but they’ve never done it.

EnnoTana/KiyoTana: I feel like Tanaka isn’t interested in sex that much and depending on the situation he never gets aroused (sexually). Ennoshita and Kiyoko also don’t seem like the type to be too into sex. I feel like they’d have it on special occasions, but never anything more than that. I don’t really have anything else to say on these ships since I feel like that’s all that needs to be said. They express their love for each other in different ways, that’s all. Consent is hot-

OsaSuna: Suna isn’t a fan of using up his energy, unless it’s volleyball, so he seems like the type of person who doesn’t see the need for sex, he probably finds it a waste of time and energy. Osamu is probably kind of into it, but very rarely, kind of for the same reasons as Atsumu. They are twins after all- Suna would be fine with whatever Osamu wants and they probably only had sex once or twice.

AsaNoya: Asahi is afraid of hurting Noya- plus he’s a giant teddy bear. They have a very cuddly and touchy relationship, but I don’t see them being into sex. They might have it on special occasions as well.

DaiSuga: Rather than them not being into sex, they’re just too busy and even then, they don’t have it like every week or something.

KyouHaba: Similar to TsukkiYama, Kyoutani and Yahaba don’t have that much interest in the activity. Kyoutani may seem like a rabid dog half the time, but he’s comfortable just being with Yahaba in general. Yahaba is kind of like Ennoshita and Kiyoko in where he isn’t really interested in sex at all.

OiKen: Oikawa x Kenma :ooo Oikawa respects boundaries and if Kenma doesn’t want to have sex, then they don’t have sex.

UkaTake: They just.. don’t. They’re old- jk, they just want someone to settle down with at this point and don’t have the time nor interest for it.

TsukkiYamaYachi: Two soft, adorable babies and one salty human.. they’re just a very soft and fluffy ship in my opinion.

Sorry I couldn’t fit more ships in here, I either don’t ship them or don’t know that much about them to write it. That being said, I respect all ships and you should not be ashamed for who you ship with who. Unless it’s some shit like Ukai x Natsu or Osamu x Atsumu, then please don’t I-

When they met in first year, the first thing that Koushi had noticed had been Daichi's warm smile. It was reassuring and steadfast, like someone reaching out and telling Koushi "I'm here." And when they stood together on court, Koushi felt invincible, because Daichi was there, a silent pillar that pushed him up, up, upwards.

It was all too easy to fall. Daichi was reassuring, always there, attractive, kind, and before Koushi knew it, he was in love.

He kept it to himself at first, of course. Koushi didn't even know if Daichi swung his way. And, well, he was just... scared. Scared to lose the friendship they had built. Scared to lose their dynamic on the court. Scared to, ultimately, lose Daichi.

During summer break in their third year, after they had beat Shiratorizawa and were preparing to go to Nationals, Koushi dropped by Daichi's house often. It was natural, of course. They were "best friends", after all, even though one was hopelessly in love with the other.

Longing stares became lingering touches became staying over became-

"I really like you, Daichi."

"Mmhm."

A soft, tentative kiss.

"Are you sure about this, Suga?"

"Yes, Daichi. Stop being such a worrywart."

Foreheads pressed together.

"I'm sure about you."

Soft, soft enough that Koushi's ears don't pick up on it, "But I'm not sure about you."

They were happy together. It was like being best friends, but with kisses and cuddles and more. Koushi didn't know when he had ever been this happy. The memories were like gilded gold to him, things he never wanted to let go of. He was giddy every time he remembered that Daichi's soft smiles, fond in their demeanor, were for him.

Even if his eyes were a little distant at times.

One night, when they were curled up together in Daichi's bedroom, AC whirring and a few cans of cheap beer left forgotten and discarded by Daichi's bed, sated and content, Koushi's tongue slipped.

"I love you, Daichi."

A sleepy murmur.

He didn't feel the man against his back stiffening.

"O-Oh, okay, Suga."

Even after all that they had done, he was still Suga, never Koushi.

Daichi was probably just shy.

If he had known that this would be the beginning of the end, Koushi would have never let himself be so careless.

When they returned to school, Daichi acted like everything was like it had been before summer break. Koushi was confused, but it was surely only Daichi trying to protect them. They still lived in the Japanese countryside, after all.

And it wasn’t as if Daichi stopped seeing him or anything! It was just… less time together. But they were third years trying to win Nationals, it was natural for this to happen.

Undivided attention.

A warm embrace.

Daichi was pulling away, but Koushi convinced himself that he wasn't. Sure, in the deepest, darkest parts of him, he knew that he was losing the dark-haired man, but Koushi forced himself to stay in the moment. Daichi was probably just stressed out from studying and the responsibility of being a captain, right?

After all, Koushi loved Daichi, and Daichi… well, even if Daichi didn’t exactly love him yet, he still cared for him. Deeply.

Right?

Koushi sat on the bench, fingers anxiously drumming on his thigh. He was in the park behind the mall they went to every Saturday together to get food and window shop. (Well, Koushi shopped, Daichi gave opinions.) Where was Daichi? Koushi had flaked on a family outing with his cousins who were visiting from Kanto so that they could spend time together, but Daichi was nowhere to be found.

Koushi checked his phone again. It was already 1PM, and his last sent text, left on read at 11:30AM, glared back at him.

Slowly, Koushi picked himself up from his seat. It was fine, something had probably just come up.

Three hours later, his phone pinged. Koushi lunged for the device, nearly knocking his desk lamp over.

Daichi 💗: hey suga, sorry for not making it.

No explanation, just a halfhearted apology.

Koushi set his phone back down.

Koushi skipped up Daichi’s driveway, intent on spending some time with him that afternoon. He knocked twice, face lighting up when Daichi opened the door, looking adorable in his casual clothes.

“O-oh, uh, Suga - what do you need?” He seemed nervous.

Koushi frowned. “Daichi, I sent you a text half an hour ago saying I was coming over. Did you not get it?”

“Oh, yeah - I-” Daichi mumbled.

Someone came up behind him, slinging an arm over his shoulders. It was the rooster-headed captain from Nekoma. Koushi’s frown deepened. Why was he here and why was he touching Daichi like that?

“Oh! Vice captain-san! Daichi didn’t mention you would be coming over!” he greeted.

Koushi’s heart stuttered. Of course. It all made sense. The stares that went on for a little too long, the lingering handshakes, the too-friendly competition. The only thing he was still confused about was where he fit into the entire thing. He bowed stiffly. “Kuroo-san. Um, Daichi…” he turned to him. “Can I talk with you for a bit?”

Daichi nodded, and he turned to Kuroo. “Just keep playing the movie, I’ll be back soon.”

He followed Koushi down the road, silence falling between the two who had always had something to laugh about together.

Koushi licked his lips nervously. “D-Did we ever mean anything?” he asked softly.

Daichi sighed. “We never were something, Suga.”

“W-what?” Koushi couldn’t find it himself to say anything else.

Daichi exhaled, long and low. “Suga, we were a fun distraction,” hairline fractures in his heart, “for a bit, but it was never something serious.”

Chips began flaking off.

“B-but I love you!” Emphatic and frantic, trying to make Daichi understand.

Another sigh, this one a little frustrated. “I don’t know what this is, but it isn’t love, Suga. You need to open your eyes.”

Koushi stopped in the middle of the road.

“So this is it, huh?” he said, his heart finally breaking into shattered fragments.

“Yeah. Now, if you’ll excuse me…” and with that, Daichi walked away.

The flowers came that night, red and pink, like the blood that stained them.

Looking back, Koushi should have guarded his heart better.

Koushi deteriorated fast.

Within a week, he could no longer play volleyball.

Within two, his mother had found out.

Within two and a half, he had refused the surgery, a legal adult now.

Koushi would not lose his ability to love, even if it killed him.

Within a month, he was in the hospital.

Looking back, Koushi’s last days were placid.

The memories were painful to look back on, of course. But at the same time, Koushi recalled their moments together fondly. Even if it had ended in an inferno with his heart as collateral damage, his time with Daichi had also been the warmest sunlight.

He knew he was going to die. Everyone around him was confused as to why he didn’t just let them cut out the roots in his lungs, and along with them his ability to love, but they didn’t know what it felt like to be in love, rushing down the path, breathless, overjoyed, free.

Koushi would die before he let that feeling slip away from him, bittersweet as it was.

His flowers were poppies and peonies. Death, love and honor, he mused. Fitting, for his and Daichi’s story. Death was imminent, love was unrequited, and Daichi had turned out to be a man of dishonor, abandoning him.

Koushi supposed that Daichi would get what he “deserved” one day, too, even though his heart hurt for the man, still caring about the brunette even though he had stomped on his heart. He’d noticed how Kuroo looked at Nekoma’s setter, and he knew that like him, Daichi would only ever be a replacement.

It was heartbreakingly intriguing how fate came around back to itself.

Looking back, Koushi still had something to say.

The steady beeping of the heart monitor was interrupted as the sound of the opening of his hospital door filled the room.

Daichi stepped through, and the fragments of Koushi’s heart skipped a little.

“Suga.” he greeted, seemingly uncomfortable. After all, what were you supposed to say to your ex-nothing who you were currently killing slowly, even if it was involuntary?

“Daichi.”

“U-um… How have you been?” he asked.

“As well as can be expected, I suppose.” Koushi replied wearily. Breathing had become a labor in and of itself, and he was having oxygen pumped into his failing lungs. “Why are you here?” he deadpanned.

Daichi at least had the wherewithal to look ashamed. “I came to apologize. I did you wrong, Suga. Please just get the surgery. You’re still my best friend-”

“Stop.” Koushi held a hand up weakly. “You broke my heart, Daichi. These are the consequences, and I’m not going to forgive you just to assuage your guilt. You can’t expect sorry to fix everything.” Daichi’s face revealed a storm of emotions.

Koushi sighed. “Please just go…” he mumbled quietly.

Daichi nodded, and as fast as he had arrived, he was gone.

Those were the last words Koushi ever spoke to anyone.

Looking back, Koushi was at peace.

“Sugawara Koushi, age 18, died of suffocation from roots in his lungs on August 13th, 2012 at 22:08. The cause of death was Hanahaki disease, and it seems like his affliction was sped along by a visitation by its subject, and Sugawara-san was struck with a violent attack. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.”

how does one go about finding someone to beta their writing

Good question!

The secret is just taking a chance, asking someone to beta for you. If you're in any group chats with other writers or just avid readers, you can ask any of them if they would mind taking a look at your writing! Not everyone has the free time to do so, but there may be one or two that offer their help.

It's really handy to make some friends that write so that you can each help one another out from time to time. But there are also betas out there who don't require friendship to lend a hand! If you've already been writing and posting and have a few readers that know you and enjoy your content, go ahead and make a post or mention in your author's notes that you're looking for a beta and see if any fish bite.

I feel like there is probably a resource out there specifically aimed to pair writers with beta readers but i honestly wouldn't know what that is or how to find it.

When it comes to writing in fandom, you'd probably want to have a beta that is a part of that fandom, but if it's someone you trust, like a sibling or a friend, then they could probably work just as well, whether they're in the fandom or not!

Try looking for some little pockets of writing/reading community that you can join! I know it's scary to meet new people and put yourself out there but you might find your new best friend among those people if you take the chance!

Also, your beta reader doesn't need to be super experienced to help you out. The main point of a beta is to notice things that you can't! So pretty much anyone that isn't you could do it. They are meant to just read your writing and give feedback from a casual reader's point of view.

Just take a chance and ask someone for feedback! But keep in mind that you don't need to stick to one beta reader. Not everyone is a perfect fit. Maybe you pick a beta reader and they just don't enjoy your specific writing style or story idea. That doesn't mean that your story is bad! It just means that you and that beta weren't a good match!

You can do it, Babe, put yourself out there and find the beta of your dreams!

If you don't know where to look to find some communities, I know of at least one Discord server that's full of super exuberant DaiSuga lovers that, if you ask very nicely, might be willing to give your story a read 🥰 Feel free to ask me for the link and I'll set you up!

Beta readers

Hello! :)

We hope the new year started well for you! The start of 2021 also means that we're almost halfway through the exchange! :D

Some of you will probably need some help from the beta readers soon, so here's the post where you can find all the informations you need about it ;D

Also, since this post will be pinned, here’s the link to the page about ALL THE CHECK-INS INFO (mobile friendly link), so it's easier to find :D It was added to the links (navigation) as well though!

This edition's system for beta reading is (as you might or might not remember from the sign-up form where it was briefly mentioned) - an author who needs a beta contacts the mods and the mods will assign said author a beta reader. This way we can make sure no beta reader is overworked!

You can contact either mod Ash or me (mod Szeh) through our social media (mobile friendly link) or on Discord (you can find both of us in the exchange server which you can join if you didn't yet! There's an invite in the match-up email! :D). I specifically didn't mention the askbox because to make it easier to assign you a beta reader, there is a template to follow when contacting us. Following the template may exceed the ask's character limit and thus making it harder to communicate.

The template is as follows:

short description of the fic (like summary, ships, possible triggers)

current lenght (and planned lenght if you didn't finish the fic yet)

what do you need betaed

the link to your fic

The people who signed up to be betas had to choose which things they are confident in betaing, the list of said things as follows:

Grammar

Typos/spellcheck

Punctuation

Flow (is the text easy to understand and the descriptions easy to imagine? Are there confusing parts?)

Sentence structure and word choice (does the text sound natural? Are there any weird phrases that disrupt the immersion or don't fit the tone of the text?)

Pacing (does it feel rushed? Choppy?)

Keeping things canon/in character

Checking if the text is consistent/logical, looking for plot holes

Sharing (first) impressions (feedback on if the writer set the desired mood/set the mood properly; achieved their goal and made the reader feel emotions they wanted them to feel etc.) and providing general feedback

Helping brainstorm ideas if needed

Example of all the needed info:

KageHina with a side DaiSuga, it's around 2,5k words right now but I think it will be around 4k in the end. It's zombie apocalypse AU, so there's some blood, but nothing too bad. Also I tried to keep it more hopeful than angsty so it's not too dark I think! A mix of hurt/comfort and some (bittersweet) fluff! I need someone to check my grammar, typos and help me brainstorm ideas because I'm kinda stuck on this one scene right now and I'm not sure how to go about it.

Once you message us following the template, we will contact the beta that we think would be the best for the job and will give them the link.

Disclaimer: We only ask for the link because with the variety of social media you guys use the most often it could take us (mods) some time to find a social media you're both comfortable using and in the exchanges (especially closer to the posting date), time is essential. After we send the link to the beta, you two can settle on the quickest way to communicate yourselves, either in the comments of the work or somewhere under the text. If you're anxious about sending the link, stay assured that we will only forward the link to the beta! You can also have it locked and only grant the access to the beta when they ask for an access.

What is a bang?

A bang is a collaborative event between an artist and a writer, where the writer writes a minimum number of words in a set amount of time and the artist creates at least one art piece to match the writer’s work!

What is this bang about?

This bang is dedicated to rare pairings in the Haikyuu!! fandom!

What kind of content will NOT be allowed?

The mod team is currently deciding between allowing NSFW summaries, but pairings involving pedophilia, incest, and rape are absolutely not allowed.

What is NOT considered a rarepair?

Upon discussion with the mod team, we have decided that these ships will not be allowed in the bang: IwaOi, KageHina, BokuAka, TsukiYama, KuroTsuki, KuroKen, AsaNoya, and DaiSuga.

How will the artists and writers communicate with the mod team?

A Discord server will be made, and if you are participating as a writer, artist, pinch hitter, or beta, it is mandatory that you join the server.

What will be expected of the writers?

Writers will be expected to complete at least ONE fic according to word count. There will be three tiers of word counts, tier 1 being 3k words, tier 2 being 5k, and tier 3 being 10k (numbers are subject to change, depending on interest check).

What will be expected of the artists?

Artists must complete at least ONE fully colored piece for their writer partner. If you wish to do than one, you may, but one art piece is the minimum.

How many summary submissions will be allowed?

You are allowed as many as you like! However, we encourage that you only submit the amount you are able to handle, in order to lessen the chances of you dropping a summary due to the workload.

What are other roles I can join?

Aside from our writer and artist roles, we will also be having betas, cheerleaders, and pinch hitters!

Beta

- you will helping the writers with their stories, in checking for grammar, characterization, and editing in general!

Cheerleader

- you will be in the Discord server, cheering on our participants and getting to know everyone! You are not required to create anything, except positivity in our server :)

Pinch Hitter

- you are able to sign up as either a writer pinch hitter, an artist pinch hitter, or both! In the event that a writer or artist drops out of the event, you will take their place and complete a new piece for your partner.

Can I be more than one role?

Yes, of course! Be warned, however: if you choose to actively participate as an artist/writer and sign up as a beta or pinch hitter, you may end up with more work on your hands!

Can I use a work in progress?

As long as your WIP has not been shared anywhere else, then yes, you are allowed!

Is traditional art allowed?

Absolutely!

What if I need to drop out?

We understand that events may come up, so if you ever need to drop the bang, please DM one of the mods or email us at [email protected] ASAP so we can assign someone to your partner! Don’t forget to notify your partner as well :) The last possible day to drop out will be the second check in!
