wild how we got tom and harry hugging, laying together, caressing each other's hands in 7 seasons of voyager. But in 7 seasons, multiple movies, and whatever Picard season 3 was, data and geordi never hugged once. Not ONE time. Like
It's so vile of JKR and the people she's boosting to paint Magnus Hirschfeld as some sort of race science enthusiast
The gay jew who was almost beat to death by Nazi thugs in 1920 for being loud about decriminalising homosexuality, women's sufferage, abortion rights, socialism, the horrors of war, suicide prevention for queer people, etc
Who only survived the burning of his pioneering Sexuality Institute because he was abroad and who died in France because he could not return to a homeland that did not acknowledge him as a German
You want to say he's the ~real Nazi~ for holding beliefs that were mainstream science at the time he held them?
Yes, Hirschfeld was a eugenicist, insofar as most doctors were prior to the Holocaust
Yes, he argued that gay people having kids would lead to sickly kids -- as an argument for why society should stop forcing gay people into heterosexual marriages
Hirschfeld was by no means perfect, but smearing the legacy of someone who was specifically, by name, targeted by the Nazis for being a jew, for being gay and yes, for pioneering gender affirming care, as if he was fucking Mengele
That is just fucking evil
(but the people who criticise her are antisemitic homophobes, right?)
not to whine on main but being a transmasc person in tech is so exhausting because everyone wants to be like Look At Our Woman! You Go Woman In Tech! We Are So Diverse Because of This Woman
@fractalcloning asked: “Lore, open the goddamn door!”
The timing of the Changelings infiltrating Starfleet was impeccable, and their objective to drive humans to and over the edge of extinction was the opportunity he’d been waiting for for decades — to rid the galaxy of this parasitic organism whose tendrils had sunk deep into the fabric, the heart of many civilisations, had indoctrinated them with their preposterous righteousness, with their self-conceited human credences; their political dogma, their perverted ideologies embossing a permanent disfigurement on the cultures erected and established by others. Although he was uncertain who he’d have to thank for his reactivation, one thing was clear — a self-induced project —; he would do anything within his power to impede the Titan’s crew from accomplishing their heroic endeavours.
The android’s synthetic features were incandescent with animosity paired with rancour, the temperature in his chartreuse eyes had surpassed zero and was plummeting in the negative, decreasing exponentially, while they fulgurated with satisfaction and ecstasy. He thrived in anarchy, in pandemonium-driven circumstances. The extension cord, protruding from an exposed access panel on the side of his cranium, was still attached to the ship’s computer, initially to run a diagnostic on his systems, but after he’d, clandestinely, circumvented the security programs and disabled its algorithms, Lore had gained access to a number of vital systems within his immediate proximity.
Shortly after the attainment of these expedient powers, he’d sequestered himself, and the girl accompanying him, from the rest of the ship by initiating a decontamination protocol restricted to this strategically positioned laboratory. The vents and other service crawl ways had been preemptively blocked off by an impenetrable force field, so no one could besiege his makeshift fortress while he attempted to contact the Changelings on the bridge and offer his assistance.
Evidently, the girl was an inconvenience, but she didn’t pose a significant threat to him, nor did he deem her capable of easily obstructing his schemes without sustaining considerable damage. He could neurtalise her the moment she became a nuisance and started to thwart his villainous ventures — she was only human after all.
A moderate grin quirked the corner of his mouth while he regarded her. Despite the suspense permeating every nook and cranny on this vessel, Lore was disconcertingly poised. Perhaps because he knew that the humans didn’t stand a chance against the extremely well-organised assault of the Changelings...
‘Nah,’ he responded offhandedly, an insouciance tone hovering prominently in his voice, ‘don’t really feel like it. Perhaps you could try asking in — oh, I dunno — 5 minutes?’
Uhm... so ... my ex?boyfriend that I still live with until he graduates in October (and hopefully goes on to find a job soon so he can move out) is starting to blackpill himself with questionable relationship and men's issues content on yt
and also refuses to sit down and talk about my problems with the kinda content he watches
something about "fujoshis" that i think is not examined in discussions regarding their (both past and current) existence is that we have like, an entire generation of cis women's (or, presumed cis women's) seminal amateur work in which its both expected and encouraged to explore gendered themes and gendered experiences through the lens of yaoi fanfiction. this is born of the fact that they couldn't (can't) conceive of a gay relationship that doesn't involve someone being in the "feminine" (or, to be more descriptive, "submissive") role which is, yeah, homophobic, but it means that the gendered roles they experience(d) in their real lives get projected onto one of the characters. the "femimine" ("submissive" or, yes, to go there, "uke" and "omega") half of the relationship is frequently portrayed as being objectified by the "masculine" ("seme" or "alpha") characters around them, sometimes even as far as being referred to with derogatory gendered language. they are frequently portrayed as being victims of (often attempted) sexual assault in which they are objectified and victimized in a way that's blatantly gendered. in historical fiction, the issue of homophobia is rarely brought up, instead replaced by the "feminine" character usually being judged or suppressed by their family (as an analogue for society).
this culminates in a kind of accidental transgenderism in the characters. despite both being men, one of them is portrayed as experiencing gendered violence. or is portrayed as an unquestioning regurgitating of the (internalized) misogyny of the piece's author. for all intents and purposes, in these worlds, culturally, these "feminine" men function as women do. in omegaverse, this is literalized completely, in that "omegas" have the same biological and reproductive capabilities as real life cis women do. this sometimes grows into what I can only dub the "seme-uke dichotomy event horizon" in which an author is knowingly and deliberately portraying gendered violence against men, and is trying to say something about gender because of it. sometimes they justify this in-universe by portraying women as being in a lower caste to the "feminine" men.
Picard has yet to offer a cannon reason as to why Geordi wasn’t around so in my fic he’s fucked off to the far reaches of space on an experimental engineering tech mission for three years and he’s going to come blazing in during the later half of my fic going “WHAT THE HELL????” the entire time because king has no idea what’s happened he just knows that’s ???apparently??? Data’s kid and ???apparently??? Picard’s other adopted kid so he’s GOTTA help!
my toxic trait is sewing up a book textblock and then failing to put a cover on it for 2 to 5 business months, optionally while also hauling it around the house and reading it :/
