"David, who carries the trauma of an emotionally unavailable family and a string of bad relationships, is hesitant to reveal too much of himself, preferring to present a curated image. Reassuring her skittish son, Moira tells him, '[Patrick] sees you. For all that you are.' So when David needs to extend an olive branch to Patrick, the clearest way to tell his boyfriend how much he trusts him is to make a public spectacle of himself — to let himself be seen."

Just thinking about this idiot and his “going to invest in a whole entire business so the cute boy will notice me” flirting strategy. Which totally worked out, so I guess you can’t argue with results.
This was a fun one! This fic is beloved in the Schitt's Creek fandom, for good reason. It's one of the few times I've read along with a WIP and didn't wait until the end. I would eagerly await the release of each new chapter on Sunday. I knew I'd be binding it at some point, it's too good not to.
It's also a CHONK. 270k words and 720ish pages. That's 23 8-page signatures.
A few firsts for this one:
First time using real, purchased bookcloth. Not sure I want to go back to the homemade kind, but seeing as bookcloth isn't cheap nor easy to get, that's not realistic.
It was also the first time I used an oxford hollow. I thought it would help support the massive heft of this volume. Time will tell, I suppose! I followed the tutorial in this excellent video.
And despite my best intentions, it was my first time using the foil quill on the cover because HTV is the devil and the cover got all forked up but I just leaned into it a bit and used the foil quill to fill in bits, and also to do the spine.

Bonus: A little book-turning asmr for ya. (don't you just love that sound?)
David panicking after accidentally calling Patrick his boyfriend → David feeling loved and secure enough to casually refer to Patrick as his life partner and husband before they're married
