Deborah Jane Leng Burgess is a model and actress, and Roger met her on the set of his side band The Cross' video-clip "Cowboys and Indians" (1987). She next appeared as the masked lady in Queen’s “Breakthru”. Debbie started her modeling under the artistic name of Debbie Du-Bell in 1982, and represented the UK in the 1986 edition of Supermodel of the World. She created a sensation in 1987 when she became the iconic Cadbury's Flake girl in a TV commercial and got axed three years later for being "too sexy".
Roger and Debbie’s relationship was immediately object of interest for tabloids, especially since he married his previous girlfriend Dominique in 1988 to secure their two children and the media didn't understand their relationship was actually over, and Roger he soon moved in a new mansion with Debbie. Another object of scandal was the alleged diffusion of a sex tape between the two, and the media never failed to point out their age difference of 14 years. The drummer of a world famous band and a beautiful supermodel couldn’t stay out of the spotlight, after all...
However, besides often appearing together at events, concerts and parties, looking dashing and rich, what happened privately in their lives seems to remain very private. (short to say I’m not really finding much out there besides gossip articles mentioned above). Of course, Debbie is a beautiful woman and always looks friendly and smiling around her family, often having fun with Roger, but there's not much additional information about her personality.
They had Rufus, Tigerlily and Lola together and it appears that Debbie has stayed a lot by Roger’s side after Freddie’s death. “Freddie Mercury was still alive when Rufus came along in 1991 and those two got on famously. Mind you, Fred was always fabulous with kids — he was the one who came up with Rufus’s middle name: Tiger.” They split in around 2004, but they still have a close relationship nowadays and Debbie introduced Tigerlily and Lola to the modeling world, following her steps, while Rufus is drummer of The Darkness, much like Roger.
“Although Rufus’s mum [Deborah Leng] and I were together for about 15 years, we never did get married. I also had Felix and Rory Eleanor from a previous relationship [with Dominique Beyrand], but in that situation, we did eventually tie the knot. I guess I wanted to make sure Felix and Rory were looked after financially. “I’ll admit my life back then was, well… let’s say it was complicated. It was a strange time for all of us. Wouldn’t it be great if relationships were simple and easy? Sadly, breaking up with people who mean a lot to you is never simple or easy. The important thing for me has always been that the kids support each other and feel like brothers and sisters. There’s not some from “this relationship” and some from “that relationship”; they are a gang of five.” (Roger in 2014)
“Mum and Dad never actually got married, but their separation was still pretty rough. There was a bit of shouting for a while and a few headlines, but, y’know what: shit happens. People split up. Both of them have gone off and done their own thing, and they’ve got a much better relationship these days.” (Rufus in 2014)

Why Bowie had to say the Lord's Prayer for pal Craig

SUPERSTAR David Bowie yesterday told of the sadness which led him to sink to his knees and pray on the stage of the Freddie Mercury tribute concert.
Bowie recited the Lord's Prayer before an audience of millions in a very public show of compassion for the private plight of a close friend, Craig, who is dying from Aids.
“He was in my thoughts as I watched the concert and I knew that I wanted to send a message to him,” Bowie revealed.
“I had no idea of what I was going to say until just before I went on stage.
“Something made me think of the Lord’s Prayer and it seemed to me that it would be the most direct way of reaching him with integrity. It just felt like the right thing to do.”
Before he flew out of Heathrow for New York, the 46-year-old rock star said: “Craig is someone who my assistant Coco and I have known for many, many years and who has tragically been toppled by Aids.
“He does not have long to live, I'm afraid.”
It was largely because of Craig that Bowie took part in the star-studded Easter Monday tribute to Freddie Mercury.
Bowie stunned the audience when he interrupted the music to pray for the victims of Aids, mentioning Craig by name.
Before he flew out Bowie vowed to keep Craig's personal details secret.
“He's a private individual, nothing at all to do with the music business or entertainment.
“I think because of that, it would be totally unfair of me to reveal his identity or any more information about him. It's vital that his anonymity is preserved.”
Asked if he was involved in caring for Craig, he said: “Coco and I are constantly in touch with him.”
Before the show, Bowie revealed that his friend's plight had spurred him into taking part.
On stage Bowie said: “This tribute is for our very good friend Freddie and also to our friends, your friends and possibly members of your family who have been troubled by this relentless disease.
“To all the people watching and to my friend Craig, I would like to extend my best wishes to everyone.”
Yesterday, Bowie said he was satisfied the concert had succeeded in getting across the message of Aids awareness, as well as being a fitting tribute to Freddie Mercury.
“I think enough of the performers said enough about the issue to nail down the seriousness of this horrific disease.
“And it was an absolutely splendid show.”
Bowie's agent Alan Edwards added: “Craig is obviously someone he knows outside the music world. He won't divulge any more about him.”
Concert organisers and Aids workers yesterday began the task of deciding how to allocate the estimated £20 million raised by the show.
The money, which came mostly from film and television rights, merchandising profits and public donations, will go to Aids charities to boost the battle against the disease.

THE stars who rocked the fans at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert later danced until dawn at a party in his memory.
The flamboyant Queen singer's spirit lived on as band members Brian May and Roger Taylor joined Liza Minnelli, Cindy Crawford and George Michael.
Earlier, as the 72,000-strong crowd filed slowly from Wembley Stadium, a fleet of limousines whisked the stars to exclusive Browns club in London's Covent Garden.
The champagne flowed as the guests swapped stories about the Queen front man who died of Aids in November.
The celebrities toasted the success of the concert which looks set to raise £20 million for Aids charities worldwide.
George Michael, dressed from head to toe in black, stayed until the early hours of the morning at the club where he is a regular customer.
He spent a long time chatting to Cabaret star Liza Minnelli, who was still flushed from her emotional performance.
She led the finale with a version of Queen hit We Are The Champions.
Drummer Roger Taylor was escorted by stunning girlfriend Debbie Leng, who was dressed in figure-hugging black leather shorts and jacket.
And Queen guitarist Brian May took his girlfriend Anita Dobson, dressed in a black bolero hat and black lace dress.
Joining them were EastEnders actress Gillian Taylforth — enjoying her first big night out since the birth of her daughter Jessica three months ago — and her boyfriend Geoff Knights.
Paul Young and his wife Stacey left their daughter Levi with a babysitter.
Seal arrived with a new image. Gone were the trademark black leather trousers. Instead he wore a loose fitting white suit and glasses.
Wild Guns 'n' Roses frontman Axl Rose arrived without his usual posse of burly minders.
Still on a high from his concert success, he chatted to Def Leppard singer Joe Elliott.
“The atmosphere was fantastic because everyone was still buzzing from the concert,” said one guest.
“They played really up music all night long, and the dance floor was absolutely packed the whole time.
“They played a couple of Queen tracks and everyone went wild.
“The general feeling was that everyone should go wild and have a really good time because it's what Freddie would have wanted. He wouldn't want people sitting around moping about him."
However, one star was missing. “Everyone noticed that Elton John was particularly quiet backstage at the concert,” said an organiser.
“I think he found the whole thing rather upsetting because he loved Freddie very much.
“I don't think he could face going to a huge party.”
But for the party-goers the night was the ideal way to remember the life of the man who loved celebrations.
As he left, Roger Taylor summed up the mood: “Freddie would have loved it.”

THE SHOW WILL GO ON
QUEEN are to reign again… but under a new name.
Remaining members Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon last night revealed they want to continue working together.
Drummer Roger confirmed after the tribute to Freddie Mercury: “There are projects in the pipeline, but we won’t be called Queen.
“It wouldn’t be right to use the name without Freddie.”
Guitarist Brian added: “Queen died with Freddie, but there is the rest of us. We’ve already proved we work very well together and there’s no reason why we can’t do so again.”
He admitted lying about Freddie having AIDS last year.
“We felt no guilt about protecting Freddie,” he said. “We told everyone the group wouldn’t tour again because we didn’t feel like it, but in reality Freddie was too ill."
Brian said the star-studded gig at Wembley Stadium was very important to the band.
“It was our way of saying goodbye to Freddie. We needed to lay him to rest in our own minds so that we can move on," he said.
• QUEEN are to release THREE new albums, including one recorded in Switzerland before Freddie's death. There will also be a Live At Wembley '86 album and a five CD box set featuring rare and unheard songs from their long chart career.

Tears from sad mum
FREDDIE'S mother Jer watched the tribute to her son with tears in her eyes. She got Freddie started on his musical career. Freddie once admitted: "If it wasn't for my mother I wouldn't have been a musician. She made sure I studied the piano.”
The late singer's ex-girlfriend, Mary Austin, who inherited a large part of his multi-million pound estate, also watched the proceedings, with Brian May's girlfriend, ex-EastEnders star Anita Dobson, and Roger Taylor's girlfriend Debbie Leng.
• LIZA Minnelli was one of Freddie's idols. But it was touch and go whether she would make the big event.
Said a source: "She came despite a lot of other commitments. She was marvellous." Dazzling Liza certainty perked up moody Guns N’ Roses singer Axl Rose at the post-gig party. The outrageous star gave up sulking at a comer table and joined Liza in a bop to the Stones’ Brown Sugar.
• GUNS N’ Roses' behaviour left concert organisers fuming. The bad-boy rockers refused to rehearse with the other stars or even stay at the same hotel.
A source close to Guns N’ Roses said: "The band were worried about security. If they appeared cold towards other stars it was because, frankly, they were in awe of some of the other big names."
• MILLIONS of fans almost missed the last part of the Freddie tribute. Council officials had imposed a strict 10pm curfew on the concert and were about to pull the plug when it ran over time. Fans would have missed the last four songs, including the all-star finale. But quick-thinking BBC producers persuaded them to let it continue.
