Hi, I hope not to disturb. Can you explain to me why when you talk about Destiel do Destielfans say they put on a clown's nose? I have tried to understand the concept but I have not known how to find answers. Thanks!

Hi there! It’s no trouble. We’ve been saying for years when people have asked, “Do you think they’ll make it canon this season?” that if they ever did, it would probably be in the final season-- whenever that might be in the nebulous, distant future. But the future is now! We’re in the final season!

The thing is, the show is doing a lot to give people hope that it is part of the endgame plan-- in everything from the structure of the narrative and the conflict between Dean and Cas being one of the Major Plot Points over the first five episodes. Every time we get spoilers about things that will be happening later this season, we get a little more excited because omg are they actually going to do what it’s really starting to look like they’re doing? Or are we all just a bunch of clowns for thinking they might?

Hence the clown thing. We want to believe, but we acknowledge we just don’t know.

(I’m mostly trying to avoid using the metaphor, because a) i really freaking hate clowns, and 2) I try not to get too carried away with speculation like this, and stay focused on what is actually happening in canon.
