DEUTERONOMY S.O.A.P. ~ CHAPTER 14
Friday, 4/14/23
SCRIPTURE:
You have been set apart as holy to the Lord your God,  and He has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be His own special treasure.  ~ Deuteronomy 14:2
OBSERVATION:
I have been set apart as holy - dedicated or consecrated - to the Lord...
...for His purpose(s)...
He has chosen me to be His own special treasure...
Not because I'm deserving...
All because of His grace...
...His love...
...and through Jesus...
...for me...
...along with everyone else...
APPLICATION:
Live humbly as
...one set apart...
...one chosen...
...His special treasure...
...one among His many...
PRAYER:
Choosing Father God - I confess to sometimes seeing myself as separate from those around me, though I don't often think of myself as special or better than them, I do catch myself leaning that way from time to time - and thank You that Your Holy Spirit eases me back to remembering Your Son Jesus came for them, too... May I surrender my wants and will to see and embrace all I meet, even in passing, as needing to be set apart, as chosen though they may not realize it, as unknowingly Your special treasure... for whom Your Son came and died and through Your power was raised triumphantly over my - our - sin... In His Name, Father, and, in His example, for Your glory and honor...
I hope it's been a good week... don't forget to hit me up with anything going on in your world that needs prayer - praise as well as needs and concerns...
Humbly yours - in Him...

“But you are God’s chosen treasure —priests who are kings, a spiritual “nation” set apart as God’s devoted ones. He called you out of darkness to experience his marvelous light, and now he claims you as his very own. He did this so that you would broadcast his glorious wonders throughout the world. For at one time you were not God’s people, but now you are. At one time you knew nothing of God’s mercy, because you hadn’t received it yet, but now you are drenched with it!” —1 Peter 2:9‭-‬10 (TPT)
“You have been set apart as holy to the Lord your God, and he has chosen you from all the nations of the earth to be his own special treasure.” —Deuteronomy 14:2 (NLT)
“How God Sees Us” By In Touch Ministries:
“We are loved and cherished by the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.”
“Have you ever wondered how God sees you? Perhaps interactions with others have shaped how you believe you’re viewed. But in His Word, God tells us exactly how loved and cherished we are. Today’s passage describes just four of the many ways He sees us:
1. A Chosen People. God chose you and me to be part of His kingdom and family because He wants and loves us.
2. A Royal Priesthood. As believers, we are children of God and, therefore, part of a royal family. In other words, we are “heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:17).
3. A Holy Nation. The church, or body of Christ, is a group of people who are holy—which, as we learned a few days ago, means “set apart” for the purposes of God. Our lives are never meaningless, because living for the Lord is the greatest purpose one can have.
4. A People for God’s Own Possession. You and I are precious possessions of God; we belong to Him (Deuteronomy 14:2; Titus 2:14). He so values each of us that He sent His Son to die in our place.
Each of these descriptions shows how highly God values you. Make it a point to remember your real identity and to be mindful that you are cherished.”

"THERE'S DANGER IN TWISTING SCRIPTURE!"
Deuteronomy 4:2, “Now listen, Israel, listen carefully to the rules and regulations that I am teaching you to follow so that you may live and enter and take possession of the land that God, the God-of-Your-Fathers, is giving to you. DON’T ADD A WORD TO WHAT I COMMAND YOU, AND DON’T REMOVE A WORD FROM IT. Keep the commands of God, your God, that I am commanding you.” (MSG) Ecclesiastes 3:14-15,…

A New Prophet Like Moses
14 For these nations which you will dispossess listened to soothsayers and diviners; but as for you, the Lord your God has not appointed such for you.
15 “The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear, 16 according to all you desired of the Lord your God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, nor let me see this great fire anymore, lest I die.’
17 “And the Lord said to me: ‘What they have spoken is good. 18 I will raise up for them a Prophet like you from among their brethren, and will put My words in His mouth, and He shall speak to them all that I command Him. 19 And it shall be that whoever will not hear My words, which He speaks in My name, I will require it of him. 20 But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in My name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.’ 21 And if you say in your heart, ‘How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?’— 22 when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. — Deuteronomy 18:14-22 | New King James Version (NKJV) The Holy Bible; New King James Version®. How to pray for unbelievers
Brothers, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved. (Romans 10:1)
Paul prays that God would convert Israel. He prays for her salvation! He does not pray for ineffectual influences, but for effectual influences. And that is how we should pray too.
We should take the new covenant promises of God and plead with God to bring them to pass in our children and our neighbors and on all the mission fields of the world.
God, take out of their flesh the heart of stone and give them a new heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 11:19)
Circumcise their heart so that they love you! (Deuteronomy 30:6)
Father, put your Spirit within them and cause them to walk in your statutes. (Ezekiel 36:27)
Grant them repentance and a knowledge of the truth that they may escape from the snare of the devil. (2 Timothy 2:25–26)
Open their hearts so that they believe the gospel! (Acts 16:14)
When we believe in the sovereignty of God — in the right and power of God to elect and then bring hardened sinners to faith and salvation — then we will be able to pray with no inconsistency, and with the confidence of great biblical promises for the conversion of the lost.
Thus, God has pleasure in this kind of praying because it ascribes to him the right and honor to be the free and sovereign God that he is in election and salvation.

IT BEGAN WITH STOLEN TOILET ROLLS
AND ENDED EATING SOGGY CORNFLAKES ON A WORN-OUT SOFA Introduction: This essay will critically reflect on the lived experience of poverty by the researcher (autoethnographically) and how that enabled a meeting of heart in the missional life she now lives outside of poverty. It is only through this lived experience that the researcher was compelled to go outside the structures of the…

Never too old or too young to begin 2024 on a positive path
With the Lord, 2024 is your year to prosper.
Let no one tell you are too old or too young. There is always time to do something. Even if you have one day left, you still have time to give one more smile, forgive, hug, touch kindly, or just let your kindness come through your eyes.  Never give up on God or yourself.  Let 2024 bring you hope from above. Stand firm in your belief in Him. Remember: “The command I am giving you today is not…
