I got married this summer!! And I spent the year leading up to it designing & patterning & making my dresses! So here they are; unfortunately my photo selection is pretty limited cause our photographer got almost no fullbody pictures of me alone from the front, but w/e

My wedding dress/outfit/what have you consisted of an Edwardian-ish blouse and a skirt which I drafted off of an actual Victorian walking skirt pattern except since I didn’t wanna obtain/wear a corset & bustle I took out the hip shaping so it just turned out to be a partial circle skirt that’s a little longer and fuller in back. Oh, and the front panel was actually two overlapping panels which could be folded back and attached to the inside of the skirt. I wore it closed at the actual marriage part which I didn’t get good pics of, and open at the ring ceremony, which is where all the above pics were taken. The pants were resale, but I did make my veil and bouquet!

The second dress was very inspired by this set of classic lolita OP’s (particularly the one in the first two pics) which I first saw back in 2021 and I’d been itching to make something similar ever since, so I picked up the fabric for it when it was on sale back at my old job and then pencilled it in as my reception dress so I would actually get around to making it. (Although fun fact both of these outfits STILL need more sewing done before they’re completely ready for regular wear lol. Someday) I got the cameo for the brooch off Etsy (it has a butterfly on it) and my grandma bought me the shoes for Christmas last year, though I added the bows to them (they’re removable and I also made a pink set) and also made the earrings and hair bow.

Anyway we recently got done moving and stuff so hopefully I will be able to do more art soon! (Also they/them preferred as usual 💜)

So, let's talk about Tamarack and Qiu's "fancy outfits"!

I was looking back at the fancy outfits post from two years ago, and I find it interesting that gb patch said they're for two different occasions, because I initially thought they're for the same events (like a school play or something). So I figured it'd be fun to look more into them and guess what those "two different occasions" are!

Totally not because of favoritism, let's start with Tamarack!

It seems like she's wearing a dirndl dress. The overall shape and design match the key features you can usually find in a dirndl (close-fitting bodice with cross lacing and low neckline, blouse underneath the bodice, wide high-waisted skirt with apron), and I think it'd make sense for her to wear it since she's part German.

While I was searching about this, I actually found some kid dirndl designs that look pretty close to the one she's wearing. I think these might be the vibes that gb patch/the sprite artist were going for? So pretty!

But what prompted Tamarack to get all dressed up with such a pretty dirndl in the first place? This is just my personal guess, but I think it might be for Oktoberfest. It's one of the events where dirndl is usually worn, and the time frame will really match the autumn setting of olnf.

As for Qiu, he's dressed in black tights and has his hair in a neat bun like he usually does in ballet class, so it's save to assume that he's wearing a costume for a ballet performance.

I was looking at ballet costume designs on the internet a while ago, and I think his outfit might be a combination of these two:

The first design has similar-looking buttons, floofy sleeves, and overall shape of the lower part, while the second design has matching belt, collar, and overall shape of the upper part. Though, this is just me guessing and the outfit was most likely created with different inspirations in mind.

Sadly, we can't really tell what kind of performance he'd be doing from his costume alone. My best guess is he's dancing for a ballet recital, though it'd be unusual to have one in autumn since they're usually held in spring. So it's also possible that he's dancing for other kind of performance or for a competition.

So... To sum it all up: we will probably have a Qiu-focused ballet recital moment and a Tamarack-focused festival moment in step 1. It's pretty exciting to think about the possibilities!

Louisa's traditional outfit (called a tracht) consists of a white elbow-length blouse, red skirt and black vest. She wears a kerchief when working outdoors, which she can use to protect her head from the sun, or keep her shoulders warm.

Her family is from Lower Saxony, so they don't wear the dirndl that most people think of when a traditional German dress is mentioned. Dirndl are worn in Bavaria and Tyrol, in southwest Germany, while Saxony and Lower Saxony are in the northeast. Lower Saxony's traditional dress includes a red skirt, while the skirt may be one of varying colors (usually a vibrant color or black) in other regions. The black vest is quite common and is usually form-fitting. This outfit is more of a work dress than one to be worn to church.

I haven't yet made her Sunday hat, which is sort of intimidating, as it has huge stiff bows, and I'm still dithering on the color to make her apron, or if I will just stick with the embroidered white one I've already done.

Throwback to a good friend's wedding a couple years back. She asked us to dress traditionally Austrian (or at least inspired). My look read hobbit-esque mori kei because I'm still me. You had everything from very traditional looking dirndl to very flashy cheep looking ones.

Everything handmade by me expect the maroon knit jacket. (vest, blouse, skirt, apron, underskirt and bloomers are handmade by me). The crocheted gold shawl was a handmade present from an old friend of my mum to my mum and she gave me the shawl because I love it so much. The handbag was embroidered by my mum and was either a present for my grandma or my grandma's sister (and came back to us when they died).

i am THINKING about this so very hard. perhaps a special event that brings people back to monstadt (like the one we're getting very soon), to wine and dine and drink and make merry . . . and reader is just so sweet, so eager to please, wants to help diluc so much - and it's not like he's going to be at home much, is it? so it's agreed upon that they can take some shifts at angel's share, when diluc is there to keep an eye on them - and what do you know! they're very good at it! in fact, if diluc didn't know better, he'd think several of the patrons purposely hang back to be served by reader instead of coming to diluc himself.

and reader's in a cute little approximation of a waitress outfit; maybe it's a bit too small, again, because he can't help himself, but it's festive! still. only diluc should get to ogle at the soft push of reader's chest in a low-cut little white blouse (i'm imagining, seeing as monstadt is so heavily german-inspired, something akin to a dirndl?) and bodice that just emphasises how lovely and round and nice to touch they'd be. so he's glaring daggers from behind the bar, and oh no, that's not helping people want to be served by maid reader either!

i do think this is especially funny with venti. diluc knows that's barbatos; knows that it's monstadt's archon . . . but all maid reader knows is it's the funny, charming bard that people love to hear play at angel's share, so they should probably be nice to him! and diluc can only bring himself to be so curt with venti, knowing everything he knows . . . and venti takes full advantage of that. accidentally falls into reader's generous decolletege. flirts and winks and sings particularly bawdy songs whilst making direct eye contact. you cannot tell me that venti wouldn't fall head over heels for a chubby reader. come on.

mmm. he can't start an out and out diplomatic war, either - so outright telling ayato to back off is a bad idea, especially as inazuma has only recently re-opened to the outside world and ayato has so much sway over arts and culture. and i always like to imagine he knew thoma as a child and remembers him; so when ayato and thoma are flirting, all he can do is grit his teeth.

zhongli also puts him a little on edge. even though he knows nothing about zhongli's true identity, the man exudes power; and you seem so interested in him! diluc's well aware that, despite being a gentleman, he can be a little . . . awkward. zhongli talks like a gentleman and smiles at you kindly and diluc knows by now that you're weak for authority figures! but the fact that venti seems to know zhongli so well also doesn't bode well . . .

if anything, it's childe and/or pantalone (though i think it's far more likely to be childe) that sets him off. makes him bring an end to the night early and send everyone off to the cat's tail because he shattered a glass whilst cleaning it by losing control of his vision - a fatui harbinger? having the absolute nerve to make a move on his beloved little maid? that's just too much. he's got to fuck you over every table in his tavern and make you scream out his name and tell him that you love him in between jealous, angry, mind-shattering orgasms. it's literally a life or death situation. if he doesn't do it, he'll simply die.

Turns out I hate that stuff and it’s soooo bad for poofy sleeves #and I didn’t finish my edges all that great so I was scared it would disintegrate if I ever tried to wash it #so last summer I finally got some eyelet cotton and remade them #I think I never posted the finished Ephy dress because I wanted to also make a bow to go with it #haven’t done that yet though and it’s been awhile #I’m not sure how easily I’ll be able to wear the dirndl again nowadays without remaking the blouse again (for reasons) #but I did get to wear it on our honeymoon!! we went to a little German-themed touristy town and had a fancy dinner and went shopping #we also did hiking and an amusement park. and Pokémon go #and a lot of driving lol #also yes that smocking is incredibly tiny #I wasn’t sure it would even be physically possible at that size but it worked out yippee!!

I'm trying to draft the pattern myself as I have a specific style in mind:

The style is based on a dirndl blouse, waist-length with front ruching and a rather low neckline, imitating the neckline of the dress.

Will either have a shirring back or a side zip (or both) and either elbow-length puff sleeves or short fluttery sleeves, depending on what I can squeeze out of the fabric.
