j-just finished どろろ/Dororo (2019) and... yeah while it does end on a positive note, it does not end how you expect it to end.

But first things first:

The anime is awesome, though, I personally think it could’ve done with a filler ep or two, mostly to flesh out the bond betweeen the title character Dororo and Hyakkimaru. We do get some filler-ish inserts here and there, also for Tahoramu and his two friends/servants, but a dedicated filler episode or two would’ve been nice. Secondly, some arcs would’ve been better with being dedicated two or more part episodes, I mean the last four (five if you sqiunt) do show the final interactions between the key characters, what I mean though, some episodes felt a little rushed and/or cut-off. The anime only runs twenty-four episodes, so yeah, could’ve done with a couple fillers. The monster fights, too, felt a little rushed, and a little anti-climatic, but they aren’t the focus of this anime, only means to the plot, and I am actually fine with that. If you wanna watch a monster-of-the-week kinda anime, then this one may not satisfy you.

The plot? Now how to describe the plot... like kinda like Pinocchio in reverse meets FMA:B with a massive fucking twist. I’ve only glimpsed at Tezuka Osamu’s orginal manga, and took a peak at the 1969 of the material. The 2019 adaptation does diverge from the source material here and there, but at it’s core it remains true to Tezuka’s work, I guess. The art and character design also draws inspiration from Tezuka’s work, and you can really discern the influences of Max Fleisher, early Disnesy animation and the like, all the things that inpsired and influenced Tezuka’s style, and which, to this day still lives on in works of other mangaka. Tezuka Osamu is just... okay yeah I know I need to make myself more familiar with his work, but just... there wouldn’t be any DetCo, or FMA or literally any of my fave manga and/or anime, or at least not in the same way as we know them today, if it wasn’t for Tezuka Osamu.

With that said, while yes, it did end on a sorta good note, no one is truely a winner here, what with all the blood-shed that’s taken place, and I’d very much like to have an OVA in style of DtB 26 please, just to calm down, because if you really think abou the plot it doesn’t matter how pretty the sceneries are, the plot is just gut-punch galore, and really makes you question alot of things. Nobody in this story a true winner, all of them have blood on their hands, except perhaps the title character Dororo. Yeah, no true winners, but only one true bastard, and that’s Kagemitsu Daigo...

there's a viral article today about disnesy putting fox movies into their vault or what the fuck ever which means they're not available for showing in theatres and much more about their literal monopoly so maybe scorsese coppola and other old white male filmmakers are right for once. and we should also bully nerds again.

tbh i should’ve known when i was like 5 years old and this vhs ads about cinderella “finally being out of thr disney vault for a limited time offer” that disney was going to ruin everything for the rest of my life like who the fuck is like “yeah this movie is good but also FUCK YOU if you wanna watch it again”

the disney vault is literally the most evil thing but at least it’s reminded all of us that it’s never too late to be a pirate (or in my case a pirate.,. again. i had hung up my eye patch but bitch it’s back on).
