its a great day to post about how shinra is the #1 gender affirming surgeon in tokyo. this accomplished plastic surgeon who performs procedures on anyone who wants to avoid the legal process definitley doesnt offer top surgery. certainly no bottom surgery either. certainly he can't get hormones from whatever source hes getting all his other meds from. certainly hes not offering these services for anyone hoping to avoid all the dehumanizing bs that comes with gender transition in japan. that would be absurd. also hes transgender and got experimental transition care from shingen from childhood. bc i say he did <3

herculean (drrr x f!reader) - chapter 3
chapter 3 - Mirror Mirror
synopsis: You wake up in an unfamiliar apartment, your last memory being a flying traffic sign headed straight towards you. Waiting for you to awaken is an odd doctor and an even odder...bartender?
word count: 2,543
author's note: a double upload since these chapters are pretty short!

"always needed attention i've always needed a friend cure as a mean to prevention i wish i had more to prevent,, me, myself, and i - raleigh ritchie

.......(Y/N)!
You practically swallow a gust of air as if for the first time in hours. An insistent chill alerts you of the sweat that's collected on your back. You sit up from your position on what seems to be a couch. As your vision begins to focus, your heart drops at the sight of unfamiliar surroundings.
The apartment is much smaller than yours, but it's nice. The walls are a gray marble pattern, accented by dark wooden floors and furniture. Beside the front door was a small kitchen...
"Shit... Shinra! She's awake!"
You shout in fear at the realization that someone is in the room with you. Grabbing the nearest thing to you--a couch cushion--you hurl it at them.
"S-stay away from me! My father will look for me if I go missing! Lay a finger on me and so help me, I will--!"
"Woah, calm down, dammit, I'm not gonna hurt--"
He's cut off by another cushion to the face.
"What's going on in here?" Another man enters the room.
You shriek this time. Oh my god, you've been kidnapped. You've seen it on TV. These men kidnapped you and now they were gonna torture you and then stuff you into a suitcase and leave you on the streets...
The other man was wearing a doctor's coat.
....Oops.
You suddenly remember where you were before you got here. That traffic sign must have rocked your world, and now you were in a hospital.
"Shizuo, you don't even know this girl!? You've scared her senseless!" The man in the labcoat carefully kneels in front of you. His face is friendly, smiling in an attempt to soothe your nerves. "I'm Dr. Kishitani. You were hurt a couple hours ago and Shizuo brought you to me to help you."
His glasses and coat, reminding you of your father, are comforting. You try to regain your composure, hoping this wasn't some elaborate ruse and that you could actually trust this man. What a strange hospital this was.
"I-I'm sorry...I was frightened. Thank you for helping me."
"Well, no need to thank me. I didn't need to do much!"
You're confused by his statement, but a movement from behind him draws your attention. The other man stood up from a chair across from you. He begins to approach you but appears to psyche himself out, maintaining a distance.
"Are you...okay...?" The way that he's avoiding eye contact, gaze glued to his feet and hands stuffed into his pockets, reminds you of an elementary schooler being forced to apologize.
Also--he's dressed like a bartender? And he's blonde. And also wearing sunglasses inside.
"I feel fine." You answer. It's not that bright in here, you want to say. They're stylish, you guess, but that's a faux pas.
"Good."
You're staring at each other now. You wonder what color his eyes are, what it would be like to truly sit under his naked stare.
He's handsome.
THAT was an intrusive thought.
Dr. Kishitani clears his throat in attempt to break the awkward silence.
"Well, um...I'm gonna get you a few things, now that you're awake. Sit tight!"
He practically teleports away. The blonde glares at the spot where his friend used to be.
"So...your name is Shizuo?"
"...Yes."
"Well, Shizuo...thank you for bringing me here." You honestly don't know why a complete stranger would do this, or why he seemed to bring you to a friend instead of a normal hospital, but you were alright now, so you couldn't complain.
"Don't mention it."
And then it was silent again. You both sat there, staring at each other for what felt like an eternity. However, looking at Shizuo, you could tell he wanted to say something, opening his mouth before quickly clamping it shut. Finally, he seems to work up the courage.
"You're....When did you find...h-how long have you been--."
"I'm baaaaack!" Dr. Kishitani ascends from his place of escape, carrying a glass of water and various pill bottles on a small tray. He sets it down in front of you, ignoring Shizuo's glower. "I know you feel fine, but here's a little pick me up, just in case!"
You gratefully accept the painkillers, swallowing them down with a drink of water. As you move, you notice the lack of first aid on your body. Save for two kitten patterned bandaids on the backs of your forearms, the rest of you had been untouched.
"Are you sure I won't need any other kinds of treatment, that sign came at me really fast..."
Dr. Kishitani glances at Shizuo, whose brow furrows.
"Hmmm, nope! Unless you want to sport more of these really cute band-aids, you're good to go!"
"Well, you're the doctor. Thank you again, Dr. Kishitani--"
"Shinra's fine!"
"Shinra, okay. Thank you. I don't know what your rates are, but I'll let my father know what you've done for me and he'll contact you regarding your payment."
"Don't worry about it. I've got it covered."
You turn to Shizuo in bewilderment. It's not a problem, you try to explain, your father has no qualms with supporting you financially.
"No, I insist."
"Don't bother trying to persuade him, he's not budging." Shinra chimes in, almost amused by the domestic nature of the argument.
You sigh. Guess there's no use then. You thank him again, but he shrugs it off. It's obvious that you've overstayed your welcome by now. Shinra let's you keep the painkillers. You tuck it into the pocket of your bag and go to leave the front door.
"Wait!" Shizuo's sudden outburst startled you. It was the most energetic he had been since you woke up. "W-What's your name...?"
You barely hold back your laughter in an attempt to avoid bruising his ego.
"(Y/N) Brigall. It was nice meeting you both!" With that, you shut the door behind you, eager to remove yourself from the strange situation.
...
"Wow, Shizuo, no wonder you don't have a girlfriend! You're so awkward!"
Shinra expects the usual flare in anger from his longlived friend, however, Shizuo is obviously distracted. "...You're that focused on it, huh...? Looks like you're not that alone, afterall!"
At those words, the words that had been echoing in his had for the past few hours, Shizuo sighed. Not alone. It was embarassing, how well Shinra could read him--how obvious his fixation was.
"Thanks for doing that for me...I owe you."
"It's what Celty would have wanted me to do!"
Shizuo scoffs at the statement, but does nothing to question it. If he had really done damage, if he had hurt an innocent bystander, he wouldn't be able to forgive himself.
"Still... Brigall. I can't help but feel like I've heard that name before...." Shinra scratches his chin, deep in thought, "Hm... nah! Can't be anything important."
He wanted to talk to her--get to know her more, he thought. But he was terrible at talking. He wouldn't be surprised if he scared her off. She acted like a normal young woman, what would she want to do with him...? Maybe he was foolish...
Maybe he was being foolish to think that he may have found somebody that was like him.
...
That was weird that was weird that was weird good GOD that was weird--
Following the GPS on your phone, you scurried as far as you could from the apartment building. It was now transitioning later into the evening, the sky painted purples and oranges by the descending sun. You really had slept the day away.
It was shocking how sprightly you were after apparently having undergone such a debilitating incident. You didn't remember much besides the image of a traffic sign shooting rapidly in your direction. Your hands ran absentmindedly over your forearms, caressing the cute band-aids there and pressing on them curiously. Maybe someone had saved you at the last minute, and you fainted from the shock. That would explain the lack of injuries.
Well, now you were frustrated. Your first full day in Ikebukuro hadn't gone exactly as you planned thanks to that little debacle. Still, you were glad that you were okay, at least.
"...Hey!! We have got to stop running into each other like this!"
Someone has pulled up next to you on the sidewalk. Hanging outside of a van window is none other than Erika, shouting and waving her arms like she's not literally two feet away in front of you. The sight of a friendly face does wonders for your spirits.
"Erika!" You exclaim happily, trotting up to the window. To your joy, the rest of the gang is there as well. They must be connected at the hip. "Hey, you guys!"
"We were just headed out for dinner, care to join us?" Kyohei offers. Quite frankly, your heart soars. Erika opens the door for you and you crawl in next to her.
"Don't mind if I do! Where are we headed?"  You catch a glimpse of Kyohei's grin in the rearview mirror.
"Place is called Russia's Sushi. Don't know if you've heard of it."
"Hmmm, doesn't ring a bell..." you jest. You're cut off by the sound of your own stomach and you realize that you haven't eaten since your lovely sweet bun from that afternoon.
"Geez, pedal to the metal before she starves to death!" Walker jokes. That makes you laugh.
You were thankful for them, and the way they could make you forget about your chaotic day so quickly.
"Well, if it isn't Bossman Kadota! Good to see you again!" Instead of his initial position outside, handing out fliers, Simon is inside the restaurant, waiting tables and greeting customers as they enter. As he ushers the group inside, he notices you and smiles. "Ah, friend! I see you are settling in nice, yes?"
You return his smile, now used to his intimidating nature. You follow the rest of the gang's lead as they remove their shoes. A bit of embarrassment swells in your chest at the sight of your polka dotted socks next to everyone else's normal gray socks. Kyohei, probably having done this many times before, leads you all to a separate room where a table resides.
You plop down on one of the cushions next to Erika, who you notice has taken off her cap. Her hair is in a sort of french braid, gathered to the side.
"You're hair is so cute, Erika!" you all but squeal, excited at this pleasant revelation. The flush on her face is surprising--you didn't peg her for the easily flustered sort--but not unwelcome.
The sight of Kyohei sitting across from you, however, has your own face feeling a little hot. The man had removed his beanie, revealing a slicked back head of hair. His brows are bold, sharpening the intensity of his gaze. The way that beanie had aged him was criminal. He didn't look nearly as old as you thought he was, only in his early to mid twenties. Yeah, that's one good looking man right there.
Someone clears their throat and you realize that it's Kyohei, having noticed your prolonged attention on him. You...knock your silverware off of the table so you don't have to make eye contact with anyone for a minute.
Simon, bless his soul, saves you when he brings tea to your table and takes your order (you don't hear what Kyohei orders over the sound of your own internal screaming). Eager to taste the herbal liquid, you lift the cup to your lips and take a sip. The steam has a pleasant scent and soothes your nerves. When you look up from your cup, Saburo is staring at you, wide-eyed.
"How can you even touch that? Shit's piping hot!" You look around at the others and notice that no one else has touched theirs. Oh no, was this a custom thing? Were you supposed to wait??
"R-really? Mine's fine, maybe Simon put ice in it or something..." The others glanced at your semi-drank cup, steaming just as much as everyone else's.
"So, (Y/N), how was your first 24 hours in Ikebukuro?" Erika asks.
"It was certainly something! Made some friends with a couple of high school students. This really cute boy and girl with glasses--definitely crushing on each other--and this really silly blonde kid. They were a fun group." Walker and Erika glance at each other. They're definitely doing that thing where they communicate telepathically.
"We know those guys!" Walker reveals and Erika nods in agreement.
"Oh, you do? Their names may ring a bell. Anri, Mikado, and..."
"Masaomi." Your heart almost drops at Kyohei's tone. It's not contemptuous, no... but it carried weight. It's startling how quickly the mood seems to change. All four them are exchanging looks now and you feel kinda left out.
In comes Simon and you're starting to suspect that he's eavesdropping with the way that he arrives at the most convenient times. He places a plate of...interesting food in front of you. "I made sure to prepare the best assortment... for first time!" You smile gratefully at the man. He really was a kind guy!
"Thanks! Looks great!"
At first you try to use the chopsticks provided to you, but you quickly realize that everyone else is eating with their hands and that you look stupid. The flavor is... unique to say the least, but your tray is still empty in a matter of minutes.
"Oh, and that wasn't the only thing," you continue once everybody was finished, "You guys warned me about 'headless riders' and 'vicious slashings', but you didn't say anything about flying traffic signs!"
Kyohei stares at you incredulously. "Flying...traffic signs?"
You go on to explain your time in the park, and how there was suddenly this skinny guy in a fur jacket--very stylish, you had to add--and he's parkouring it all over the place. Then, an entire traffic sign comes hurtling at you, out of nowhere! You don't know exactly what happened after, you tell them. You then describe how you woke up in some weird doctor's apartment where you met this bartender blonde who--get this-- wore sunglasses inside.
Everyone is gawking at you now. Self consciousness quickly wins you over, and you laugh sheepishly at your little spiel.
"Sorry...that does sound really made up, huh? I'd get it if you didn't believe me."
"No...no we believe you," Kyohei sighs, rubbing his temples. Had you done something to upset him..?
"There was a fight between them today, wasn't there...? Wow, I can't believe you managed to get caught up in the middle of that! That's, like, peak main character energy right there!" You have no idea what Walker is talking about.
"Fight...? 'Them'? Who's 'them'?"
"Izaya Orihara and Shizuo Heiwajima." Your eyebrows shoot up in surprise at the names that leave Saburo's mouth.
Shizuo...?? And that other guy...
The sound of that roaring battlecry echoed in your head and you remembered how it had almost sounded like a name to you.
So Shizuo was somehow involved in all of that? You had thought he had been a random bystander? He had been so docile when you first met him, could he really be that vicious? And if that dark-haired man was Izaya...
Was it Shizuo that had hit you?

Hello! I realize you're not taking dm prompts anymore, but after having gone back to read some of your old fills (for the umpteenth time), I needed to make someone think about shiori giving akashi the best birds and bees talk known to mankind. So here we are. I salute you, and I salute your ocs.
Haha, Shiori would give the BEST “birds and the bees” talk– she would probably be the best person out of everyone in that series to give that particular talk. She’d have probably done a better job than poor Dr. Kishitani, who had to handle it all on his own.
Alternately, it is still very fortunate that Dr. Kishitani was the one who did have that conversation with the Miracles, because all things considered, Masaomi would have been the absolute worst person out of everyone in that series to give that particular talk. He probably would have given false information, just for fun. So Akashi lucked out on that one.
(Although he would most likely not have believed Masaomi. He probably would have known better by then to believe anything Masaomi told him was true).
Thanks for sharing the thought, anon-friend! =D

Hey hey hey, it's that special time again! That time where I make a fancast post for no reason because I have too much free time! This one is for Your Turn to Die. Lotta characters here, so let's get to it. (VAs are listed, and then one or two of their roles so you can hear what they sound like if you don't recognize the names.)
(Also, spoilers for YTTD, obviously.)
Main characters
Sara: Caitlin Glass (Winry Rockbell from Fullmetal Alchemist, Kyouko Kirigiri from Danganronpa: The Animation)
Partially, this choice is because I love Caitlin Glass. But also, I picked her because of Kirigiri. (Who I love as well.) Given how Your Turn to Die is very Danganronpa-like, it seemed only appropriate to pick someone who was a voice actor in DR too. Just substitute “NO THAT’S WRONG” with “THIS IS IT!!” and you’ve got the idea.
Joe: Yuri Lowenthal (Yosuke Hanamura from Persona 4, Shinra Kishitani from Durarara!!), Robbie Daymond (Goro Akechi from Persona 5, Smokey Brown from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Battle Tendency)
Easy. Joe, despite being our Sayaka (best/childhood friend character slated to die in Chapter 1), is highly reminiscent of Persona buddy characters to me, so Yuri Lowenthal (for Yosuke) was a natural pick. Robbie Daymond is here as an alternative choice, just because the voice also fit for me.
Keiji: Crispin Freeman (Shizuo Heiwajima from Durarara!!, Kyon from Haruhi, and MANY OTHERS)
I will cast Crispin Freeman in anything, dammit, because he’s my favorite VA. But, honestly, I did read Keiji’s lines in Shizuo’s voice in my head while playing the game, so this one came naturally. As an alternative, consider Kaiji Tang (Osamu Dazai from Bungo Stray Dogs, Archer from Fate/stay night) for that “friendly-but-will-absolutely-murder-people” vibe. (Referring to Dazai, of course; Archer would just skip straight to the murdering.)
Kai: David Vincent (Gilgamesh from Fate/stay night, Seiji Yagiri from Durarara!!)
Kai was hard to cast. The problem is that he lacks any kind of recognizable “emotion” in his voice to associate him with for the most part. Eventually I settled on David Vincent because Seiji was pretty lifeless (and obsessed, for bonus points!) in Durarara!!’s first season. Tell me if you have a better idea.
Kanna: Luci Christian (Komachi Mikumari from Samurai 7)
I tend to find falsified “child voices” in anime annoying, but Luci Christian is one of the actresses who I think can pull it off. Plus she played the best little sister, Komachi, in Samurai 7. Komachi is very different from Kanna but I think Luci Christian could pull it off. (This is one of my less sure castings; feel free to offer alternatives.)
Qtaro: Matthew Mercer (Jotaro Kujo from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure) or Marcus D. Stimac (Ryoma Terasaka from Assassination Classroom)
The first one came about by association due to Qtaro’s name being a JoJo reference: Qtaro -> Jotaro -> Matthew Mercer. But I honestly do hear this one. I can imagine Mercer’s McCree voice coming out a little bit, heh… Marcus D. Stimac was because Qtaro and Terasaka are really similar characters (big, dumb, cowardly, undergo great character development). So pick whichever one you think fits better.
Gin: Maxey Whitehead (Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Sealand from Hetalia)
Remember how I said I didn’t like faked child voices? Another exception. I actually didn’t realize Alphonse was being played by a woman when I first watched FMAB, so it was clear who Gin should be. (Hey, since Sara is Winry… Sara: “We’re having soup tonight!” Gin: “FUCK YEAH!!”)
Reko: Kari Wahlgren (Saber from Fate/stay night, Celty Sturluson from Durarara!!)
Er… this is the one I’m least sure about. I know Reko should have a deep voice, and Kari Wahlgren is definitely good at that sort of voice (the “badass lady” one in particular). That’s about it. Suggest better ideas for Reko if you have them.
Nao: Christine Marie Cabanos (Madoka Kaname from Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Ika Musume from… Ika Musume)
Nao and Madoka seemed like somewhat similar characters to me (kind, shy, good-hearted), so this one just felt natural. Just remember that being nao is suffering
Mishima: Lex Lang (Souichirou Kuzuki from Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works) or Patrick Seitz (Souichirou Kuzuki from Fate/stay night)
Backwards joke here. I read all of Mishima’s lines in Kuzuki’s voice from the UBW Abridged, since the “joke” behind their characters is essentially the same. Working back from that, I chose Kuzuki’s actual voice actors. Weirdly, although it’s not the tone I heard at first, I can hear Patrick Seitz now more clearly as Mishima.
Sou: Max Mittelman (Atsushi Nakajima from Bungo Stray Dogs, Hikari Sakishima from A Lull in the Sea)
This one took a while to root around for. Oddly, I settled on Max Mittelman, more for his propensity to play “nice-guy” characters (due to how Sou appears at first) - it would be interesting seeing how he handled Sou’s darker side. Of course… we could go for the obvious joke and cast Bryce Papenbrook because Komaeda. But that’s low-hanging fruit.
Gonbee (Alice): J. Michael Tatum (France from Hetalia, Shiro from Assassination Classroom)
Okay, hear me out. This is because Mr. Tatum can do both the “menacing” sort of voice Gonbee affects at first - but if you’ve ever seen his antics as France in Hetalia, you know he can pull off Gonbee’s sillier side that comes out when he’s flustered as well. I would love to hear this one in action.
Other characters
Sue Miley (Hoemy): Miley’s voice could go in two directions. You could play her as a sort of giggling, girly villain, for whom I suggest Cassandra Lee (Kyubey from Puella Magi Madoka Magica); or, you could instead give her that “ara ara” quality, although I can’t think of any VAs off the top of my head for that other bit - maybe Allegra Clark (Hilda from Under Night In-Birth)?.
Rio Ranger (Toto Noel): No clue. Can’t think of anything.
Tia Safalin (Hannakii): Likewise. Sorry, you two.
Gashu Satou: I actually have a Japanese voice actor in mind (Joji Nakata) who would fit Gashu PERFECTLY, but as for English VAs, I think Kent Williams (Father from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood) would do just fine. Very menacing and deep-voiced, etc.
Midori (AKA Sou Hiyori): Johnny Yong Bosch (Izaya Orihara from Durarara!!, Tohru Adachi from Persona 4)
It’s funny - I originally associated JYB with nice-guy characters, but after hearing him as manipulative bastards like Izaya and Adachi and Ryuunosuke, I really couldn’t hear him as anything else. Midori’s certainly a good fit.
The Dummies: I honestly can’t think of any good actors for these guys. I’m sure there are some but I’m just drawing a total blank. Maybe I’ll offer some ideas… Grant George (Rokujo Chikage from Durarara!!) for Kurumada and Eric Vale (Phoenix Wright from Ace Attorney: The Animation) for Hayasaka, and… Sarah Anne Williams (Sayaka Miki from Puella Magi Madoka Magica) for Hinako? Those are just tentative suggestions though. The only one I’m sure of is Cathy Weseluck (Near from Death Note) for Ranmaru because… well… they look identical.
Meister (and SPOILERS! Mr. Chidouin): Due to his usual bombastic showing in his roles, I’m tempted to cast Ian Sinclair (Twelfth from Future Diary) as Meister, befitting Meister’s sort of “game-show host” act. Of course, given that Meister is almost certainly Mr. Chidouin as well, he’s included here.
The Man in the Memorandum: Undecided. After all, the Man has never actually spoken onscreen, only talked to us through his memoir. Who knows what he should sound like?
I think this is the longest fancast post I've made yet. As always, feel free to offer alternatives.

Chapter 17
Despite today already being so eventful, my day was not over yet. I still needed to sacrifice Izaya’s soul to Satan and dance in the underworld with his evil minions into the night. Just kidding, but I did have something on my agenda, that being to put up a barrier around my and Shizuo’s apartments.
I reached my house first, eyeing the package that sat in front of my door and the transparent barrier that I had put in place before leaving. I picked up the package addressed to me from a cosplay website, indicating to me that the cosplay outfit that I ordered had came in earlier than I expected. I smiled as I thought about my first cosplay event that was coming up shortly; anticipating the fact that I finally get to enjoy what I love doing most with a group of friends that I actually feel comfortable with. I then closed my eyes, imagined a releasing feeling, and took a deep breath in. On the exhale and with a swipe of my hand, I released the barrier and unlocked my door.
I kicked my shoes off at the door and set my groceries and package down on the kitchen table, keeping in mind what I was planning to do tonight and looking forward to the fact that I will no longer have to put a barrier up everytime I leave my apartment.
I decided to set up my space for the spell ahead of time, moving my coffee table into the center of the room and setting all of my materials for the spell on top of it. I picked up my Book of Shadows and flipped it to the bookmarked page where I had wrote down everything I needed for the spell, checking over it twice to make sure I didn't miss anything.
I suddenly felt the tingle of Shizuo's energy coming towards me. It seemed off to me because he usually texts me before he shows up.
What's going on? I thought as I picked up on his energy coming closer. Buzz words popped in my head to associate the feeling to his energy: hurt, damaged.
Fuck, not again, I thought as I scrambled up and darted out the door. I quickly tiptoed down the steps and turned right into the direction I felt his energy coming from. I finally spotted him, panting and limping down the street into the rainy night, covered almost head to toe in sweat and blood. Whatever tried to kill him this time hit him much harder than the last; his energy was still spiked with anger as he came towards me, his energy also giving off that he was badly hurt and barely hanging onto life. I gasped at the horrific sight, covering my hands over my mouth with shock that he was still alive. His energy quickly faded from his body as he fell to the ground, moving in and out of consciousness. I ran up to him to pick him off the ground.
“What the hell happened?!” I shouted. “How did this happen, why didn't you call the hospital?!”
“Stop!” he yelled back, coughing as blood dripped from his mouth. “Please! You were the closest... to me. I need help… right now.”
“Okay, okay, let me get you into my apartment.” I hastily responded, embarrassed that I immediately bombarded him with questions in his condition. He wrapped his arm around my shoulder and rested some of his weight onto me as we hiked up the street to my apartment. I ripped his shirt the rest of the way down, almost retching at what I saw. His entire chest was covered in bloody bullet holes.
“Oh my God, Shizuo… you are covered in bullet holes!” I exclaimed.
“I know… I'm pretty damn lucky to have survived that. I saw... Izaya… and chased after him.” he said between pants. “Then those... Blood fuckers showed up and unloaded... their guns into me.”
“I've gotta call Shinra in for help with this,” I said. “Because this may take more help than what I can give. Give me his number so I can call him.”
“My phone… was smashed.” he said.
“Oh, well I'll call Celty,” I said, pulling my phone out of my pocket with my right hand. I dialed her number, listening to the ring tone. She appeared to pick up on the other end but obviously didn't say anything.
“Celty!” I exclaimed. “We need you and Shirna here ASAP! Shizuo was badly injured by the Blood Diamonds again, and I can only do so much with magic!”
The call suddenly disconnected. I looked down at my phone, instantly receiving a text from Celty saying: [Do whatever you can to keep him alive, I need to pick up Shinra then we'll be over shortly.]
I texted her back: [Will do, thanks again.]
As soon as we reached the stairs, I lost my grip on Shizuo as he fell hard onto the ground, hitting his head on a stair.
“Shit!” I exclaimed as I bent down to try to pick him up.
“It’s okay, I’ll be alright,” he said laboredly. “Just... leave me here.”
“What?” I questioned. “I’m not gonna do that, I’m gonna start a healing spell on you to spare some time before Celty and Shinra get here.” I towered over him as I closed my eyes, and took a deep breath in to prepare for my healing spell. I visualized a life of us together without the constant invasion by Izaya and his goons; a life as stress free as it was before all of this happened.  On the exhale, I rose my hands and pressed my palms into his chest, pouring healing energy into him. He closed his eyes, placing his hand on top of mine.
“I’m...I’m done fighting.” he said slowly.  “I think… at this point it's my time... He's tried so many times… maybe it's time that i finally gave up… i don't want your life to be any harder… than it already is… and... I don't want you to be sad for me….Thank you, (your name),” he said, looking up and smiling at me. “For everything. For coming here and... being with me.”
As I looked up at him as his energy began to fade. My eyes widened as I immediately understood what was happening.
No, it can't be.
“No-- no,” I stammered, struggling to speak as my mouth caught up with my brain. “No, that's not going to happen, I won't let it.”
“It's okay,” he said between uneven breaths.
“NO!” I screamed, switching to my native language out of fear. “No, you're not doing this to me! You can't! I can’t---Please! You can't leave me!” tears ran down my face as i mustered all of my energy into this spell, pouring every inch of my own into him. “I can't do this without you Shizuo, please, stay with me…”
“(Your name),” he sighed, taking a huge breath in, and exhaling, saying “I….” Suddenly, everything went silent, as if the light inside him went out. A wave of darkness came over me as his energy faded from his body. Nothing i could do was working. I stopped my spell, attempting cpr by pumping his heart then checking to hear his breath. I opened his mouth with my own lips to breathe into his mouth, seeing if i could get him to come back.
“Oh no, no no no please” I cried out. “Shizuo! Why?! God dammit, why?! I asked you to hang on but you wouldn't! Why would you just give up?! On me?! On everyone that cares about you?! Fuck!” I cried, beating on his chest between every sentence “Why…? Dammit where are they?!” I exclaimed as i remembered that Celty and Shinra were supposed to be here. I dialed Celty’s number and called her.
“(Your name)?” Shirna answered.
“Where are you guys?” i said through tears in Japanese. “I think… i think Shizuo just... I couldn’t do anything.”
“Oh! Oh jeez,” Shirna exclaimed. “Hang on, we're almost there, we’re actually going to need to take him to a hospital.”
“Shinra… Celty… I couldn't do it.” I sobbed. “He… he just GAVE UP before i could do anything. I feel so powerless.”
“It’s okay, it’s okay!” Shirna said frantically. “We're going to take him to Nebula, we should be able to revive him there before it's too late, we’re almost there.”
“Okay,” I said, hanging up the phone. I laid my head on his chest, listening for his heartbeat, until I heard the revving of Celty’s horse and felt Shinra’s energy approaching. I looked up to see them riding quickly down the street until they stopped practically beside us on the sidewalk. After Celty and Shinra jumped off of the bike, Shooter transformed in a shadowy, horse drawn carriage as Celty wrapped her shadows around Shizuo’s body to pick him up. She summoned her phone from her sleeve, typed quickly into it with one hand, then showed it to me:
[Go ahead and get in, I’ll set him down on your lap.] She then erased what she wrote and quickly typed: [I promise, everything is going to be fine, Nebula is a very advanced facility, they’ll be able to revive him.]
“I couldn’t do it…” I said. “And I am destined to be a fucking immortal being with all possible knowledge. So how could they do it?”
“Come on, we’re running out of time,” Shinra said as he gently pushed me forward to get into the carriage. I stepped up into the carriage, raising my hands slightly so that Celty could lay his body in the back with me, his head resting in my lap. I played with his hair and kept a hand on his chest for a heartbeat as we rode quickly to Nebula Corp, the hospital that could supposedly revive the dead.
Upon arriving, we stopped at a gate to a huge facility. The gate opened for us automatically, allowing us inside. Once we made it to the entrance of the area, Celty stepped off of the carriage as she wrapped her shadows around Shizuo to pick him up and bring him inside. Once we all stepped off of the carriage, it transformed back into a bike, giving off a short, other wordly snort as it moved up slightly on its own to park alongside the building.
I followed Celty and Shinra into the huge building, stepping inside the brightly lit lobby. The lobby of the facility did not look like a normal hospital lobby; all of the right interior was there but there wasn’t a waiting area, and all of the attendants wore lab coats. I followed them down the hallway past a receptionist’s desk, where the the woman sitting at the desk stood up and bowed to him.
“Good evening, Dr. Kishitani,” she greeted Shinra, then looked to Celty, who carried Shizuo’s body on her shoulder with her shadows wrapped around him for support. Shinra said nothing as we hurriedly stepped past her to an elevator. He swiped his badge in the card slot to the right, then typed in a code on the keypad next to it to access the elevator. We followed in with him as the elevator door closed shut behind us and Shinra pressed a button to go to the 3rd floor.
“I've have been working on something that can bring Shizuo back in case something like this happened,” Shinra began. “It's not exactly finished yet, but we've gotta make it work either way.”
Once we reached the 3rd floor, we came to a waiting room with the same layout as the lobby in the entrance on the ground floor.
“Wait here,” Shinra said as he looked at me. “After Celty brings him in I'll send her back out here to sit with you.”
“Okay,” I said, sulking over to a chair in the waiting room as Shinra and Celty carried Shizuo past two double doors on the right of the receptionist’s desk. I slumped back into the chair, leaning back further to put my hands to my eyes as i continued to process everything that just happened.
Shizuo just… I shuddered at the thought. And… and there was nothing that I could do about it… why couldn’t I? I slumped forward, crossing my arms on my legs and put my head down staying in the position that i was in as i spiraled downward into the grief that I felt.
This is… all my fault. I could have prevented this. I could have saved him, but i didn't…what do i do from here? I can't go back home. How am I going to live without him if whatever Shirna has planned doesn't work? I've never met another man like him. I don't know if I will ever be able to recover from this… Shizuo… I'm sorry...
******************************
I woke up, realizing that I must have fallen asleep when i felt someone place their a hand on my shoulder. I jumped up to the touch, surprised that I didn’t sense this person’s energy, until I looked over to see Celty had sat next to me. I breathed a sigh of relief as I attempted to let go of the anxiety that came from the touch.
“You scared me,” I said.
She typed into her phone and showed it to me, [Sorry, I have good news for you.]
“What’s going on?” I asked. “Are they really gonna save him?”
She typed into her phone again, then held it up, [They were able to bring him back, he’s breathing but he needs to rest. Shirna is running some more tests on him before leaving him here for the night.]
My eyes widened, shocked that they were actually able to bring him back. “Really?! I… I can’t believe it! That’s...that’s insane. I don’t understand but…” I struggled to find the right words to match my emotions. “I… uh...  when can I see him?”
[I don’t know yet, Shinra will probably tell you when you can.]
[Right now it's probably best to let him recover.]
“How did they bring him back so fast?” I asked as I thought of the question.
She seemed to show a bit of excitement in her body language as she typed, then showed it to me: [This is an advanced facility that does a lot of research on different types of things. Shinra’s department was developing something just for him in the case that he actually did get into some serious trouble.]
“So what is this magical ‘thing’ that outdid my magick?” I asked, crossing my arms.
[He called it “STEP 2”.]
[It’s a type of gas that they can put on him stimulate his senses and bring him back to the other side.]
“Oh… well… that sounds… nice,” I said, hanging my head. “I'm just..glad he's alive.” Of course I was genuinely happy that he was alive, but I still couldn't help but to feel that I was useless in saving him…
Celty tapped my left shoulder to grab my attention, then typed something into her phone and showed it to me: [Hey, try not to be so hard on yourself.] She erased that then typed: [I know how you're feeling right now.] She seemed to rub her neck as if she were looking for the right words to say. She erased what she just wrote, then typed: [Just be prepared for anything and protect Shizuo as much as you can while he is in recovery. Because Izaya could come for him again at anytime. Shinra doesn't think that the STEP 2 gas could work as effectively again.]
I nodded, then said, “Of course, I won't let anything happen to him this time. I will stay by his side until he is recovered.”
Celty responded: [Good. I'm gonna head home and wait for Shinra to come home, what are you gonna do?]
“I don't know, I guess I'll stay here until i can see him.”
Celty responded: [Okay, well I'll see you tomorrow.]
“Okay,” I replied. She nodded to me, then got up and walked over to the elevator to leave the hospital. Preparing for a long night in the waiting room, I crossed my arms, lowered my head and attempted to take a short nap as I waited to hear back from someone.

"How do you accidentally start dating your boss?" Michiru asks. "That doesn't even make sense. I've accidentally made out with people, accidentally had sex with people, accidentally been impregnated, but dating seems like it requires a little more deliberation."
"How do you accidentally—never mind," Nobuko says. She's not entirely sure how this conversation even started, except that she'd run into the woman while she was shopping at the mall, and now they're in the food court over piles of Michiru's shopping bags, having a rather embarrassing question because Nobuko had experienced a mild meltdown at preparing for a date for the first time in... far more years than she'd really care to admit. "Our daughters were friends, so at first it made sense to carpool, and then we were just spending a lot of time with each other. And then the whole thing with the Miracles happened, and we spent a lot of time talking about that. And then we were just sort of... hanging out a lot."
"And then sexy times?"
"And then it just made sense to start dating each other," Nobuko says, pointedly ignoring her question. "But we never really get the chance to go on actual dates. Mostly it's stuff with our kids. Or a quick dinner and a movie. Nothing fancy. Largely because we have to keep ducking out so our kids aren't suspicious."
"Right, about that," Michiru says, frowning. "Why haven't you told your kids? It seems like something they should know."
"I'm pretty sure they do know," Nobuko says. "There's nothing more humiliating than getting knowing looks from your twelve-year-old." Michiru nods her head, conceding the point. "But we're in a delicate ecosystem where we all don't say that we know, because our sons are dating each other. And that would be awkward. Also, I am not ruling out the possibility that our daughters might start dating each other in the future. We're like an incestuous episode of The Brady Bunch."
"I'm pretty sure that's just a regular episode of The Brady Bunch," Michiru remarks, leaving Nobuko wondering what episodes she was watching.
"Anyway, it just seemed better to have the Mutual Understanding of Nondisclosure," she remarks. And if she was being perfectly honest, it took the pressure off that way. Darting out after work, or quick movie nights, low key activities with their kids. It was a way to date without really thinking about the fact that they were dating. She didn't have to think about it as serious. But now, Ryohei said, "We should go on a date. A real one." And that started this whole predicament of her having a panic attack in a shopping mall and then sitting down with the prettiest woman she knew and talking about dating.
"So? What with the panic attack over dresses?" Michiru asks, and while it makes Nobuko want to cry a little, she can appreciate her forthrightness.
"Have you ever.... had a relationship end so badly it made you question your own judgement?" Nobuko blurts out.
"Eh. No. I've never had a relationship that was ever that serious," Michiru says, which instantly makes Nobuko feel a little foolish. Except Michiru looks at her with a grave expression and says, "That bad, huh?"
"The worst," she admits. "I got married to him because I was pregnant, and that's what I thought you were supposed to do, and I stayed with him because I thought that's what you were supposed to do, and by the time I realized what a toxic thing he was to me and our children, he left me, so I don't even have the satisfaction of dumping him. And a part of me never trusted myself since."
This is not the kind of thing she would admit in ordinary circumstances. She had long time friends she hadn't ever explained this too. But, in some ways, it was easier because she didn't know Michiru all that well. And anyway, she did know that Michiru had taken in one of the Miracles, had been one of the responding officers that night when the Miracles were rescued. And all of that meant that she was the kind of person Nobuko liked best in the world.
"You're very brave," Michiru remarks. "That's amazing."
"Please don't be patronizing, Sakurai-san," Nobuko says, flushing. "I mean it! I've never had my heart broken because I refuse to even put myself in a situation where that's a risk. I think it's pretty amazing that you're willing to try again after a disaster. That's a kind of bravery that should be celebrated more."
It still sounds absurd, coming from a soldier, but Nobuko liked to think maybe it was true.
"So? Is that why you started hyperventilating over dresses?"
"No," Nobuko says, still feeling embarrassed. "I have nothing to wear. And I want to—" God, this is embarrassing, "I guess I wanted to look sexy for once. But I don’t know how."
"Oh, Takao-san," Michiru breathes. "That's exactly my area of expertise."
*
Nobuko has to admit, she likes the feel of the dress she ended up buying. She likes the feel of the fabric on her skin, and the fact that she does think she looks good.
And when Kishitani Ryohei accidentally walks into a wall when he sees her, she finds that she likes that too.
A/N: This is a random fic for my sister, because it is her birthday today and she is amazing. She also requested Nobkuo/Ryohei, which sadly, there was very little of actual Nobuko/Ryohei, but still fun because I love the Miracle Guardians and sadly both Nobuko and Dr. Kishitani don't appear much in this epically long MasaYou story I've been working on. (Happy Birthday to my sister!!! Who is the best!!)

Hi! Since when did the kids know that Dr. Kishitani and Naoko-san are dating? I don't honestly remember you writing that on your stories. :) Thanks! :D
Hahaha, it has never been revealedin a dramatic focus sort of way, but it’s been mentioned in a couple of theshorts (and in some asks) that the children all know the parents are dating, but the parents don’t know that they know? Or they’re all just pretending thatno one knows anything for as long as possible.
So I imagine it’s talked aboutopenly amongst the children, but it still hasn’t been discussed with the adultsyet =P
Thanks for your question, friend! I’mglad you enjoyed that short.

I'm not sure if anyone has asked you this before, but if the miracle guardians had super powers had super powers, what would they be???
No one has ever asked that, thankyou anon-friend! Although, I’m weirdly stuck on, what kind of superpowers arewe talking about here, (all the while being very aware that it’s absurd I needto ask a follow-up question on the specificity of super powers). Because are wetalking about *any* kind of superpowers? Or are we talking Designation: Miraclespecific superpowers? And then even that needed more specificity, since nowthere’s Teiko Project superpowers and Legacy-line superpowers. =D =P Hahaha, Iam really making the question far too complicated.
BUT. I thought I’d go with the ideaof what would the Miracle Guardians be if they were Teiko Projects because Ihad a lot of fun thinking that one out. If you meant something else,anon-friend, please let me know!
So, if the Miracle Guardians wereTeiko projects, they would be:
Youji = Purple Nine (superstrength/healing)
Michiru = Yellow Six (shapeshifting)
General Fujimaki = Red Zero(Absolute Order)
Yumeko = Pink Two (Dataanalysis/technopath - a very lazy one)
Sayuri = Green Seven (telekinesis)
Dr. Kishitani = White Ten (healing –a Successful one!)
Masaomi = Silver Eight (combinationof Pink/Red/Gold)
Mwahaha, that was fun! =D Thanksagain for asking, anon-friend!

So, we alrady kniw that Youji looks just like his son and Masaomi is a japanese Tony Stark, but what does Dr. Kishitani look like? He's actually my second favorite guardian right after Masaomi
Hahaha, oh man, I have no idea, sorry. I am SO BAD at descriptions and mentally picturing characters, and Ikinda keep changing my mind on Dr. Kishitani, sorry!!!! At one point, he wasmore or less a serious version of Kishitani Shinra in my mind, but I’ve sincedecided he’s probably taller and more assertive than that. I also always picturehim with glasses, but I always had this problem of, “but you nevermentioned that in the stories, ever, and that seems like a thing that shouldprobably have been mentioned by now, if you wanted it to be canon.”
So, yeah, who knows? Not me! I amreally glad you like him, though! I have a fondness for him as well!! =D Thankyou anon-friend! Sorry I don’t have a better answer! I am just not a veryvisual person. To be completely honest with you, I can’t even describe people Ihave actually seen and met most days, and can only remember what they look likeafter years of exposure. I am pretty sure I am actually face blind, I took anonline test that confirmed this, for whatever online tests are worth.

Can you please write a scene where Midorima's the one who's making Takao blush in D:M (whether intentional or unintentional or both lol whichever you want)? Since Takao has a "Make Shin-chan Blush Increasingly Deeper Shades of Red at Every Opportunity" game, I thought it'd be hilarious to see how/when Midorima got his "revenge" to get Takao to stop (which would probably backfire coz Takao would def love it and take it as a challenge lmao). Thank you and more power to you! ^^
Tumblr media
It is important toMidorima that Takao knows he is not ashamed of him. He doesn’t know the fullspecifics, but he understands that this was (in varying degrees) a factor intowhy Takao’s previous two relationships ended.
“Yamamoto is a goodguy,” Takao explained once, “And it was probably unfair of me to break up withhim. I just didn’t want to be someone else’s dirty little secret again, youknow?”
Midorima stillremembered the night Takao explained about how his middle school romance ended, and how furious he’d felt about that. He didn’t know how Takao could talk aboutit so easily now, how he didn’t seem to wish any of them harm, despite the factthat Midorima was all too happy to hurt them. It bothered Midorima a whole lotthat anyone could do that to Takao, to the point where he still wisheshe could hurt everyone who had hurt his boyfriend.
But that’s not whatTakao wanted. What Takao wanted was to make sure it didn’t happen again, and Midorima will make sure it never happens again.
He’s just not sure ifhe’s doing it right.
*
They don’t tell theirparents. First because Takao had said, “Oh God, Mom is going to gloat foreverif she finds out,” and Midorima had pictured having this conversation with Dr.Kishitani and it had all seemed far too embarrassing.
(Then it became clearthat Dr. Kishitani was dating Takao’s mother, and all things considered, maybeit was best if they continued to not tell their respective parentalfigures about their relationship).
And this is somethingthey mutually agreed upon but it still makes Midorima wonder if Takao feelslike Midorima is hiding his relationship from his guardian. He worries a lotabout whether or not this is something that bothers Takao.
*
To compensate, theydon’t hide it at school. Not that they do anything different at school thanthey ever did before they started dating (although, since everyone seemed tothink they were dating before they started dating, maybe they didn’t need to doanything different), but if anyone asked, Midorima made sure to always respondtruthfully that they were dating.
“You’re usually such atsundere, Shin-chan,” Takao teases after the first time he hears Midorimadeclare, “Yes, Takao and I are involved romantically,” to someone’s question. “Ican’t believe you just came out and said that.”
“I don’t know whatyou’re talking about,” Midorima says, “I am always very open about myfeelings.”
He’s not quite surewhy Takao laughed at him.
*
They go everywheretogether, with Takao often driving Midorima in his rickshaw, and that doesn’tfeel like they’re hiding anything although Midorima is not entirely sure howmuch of a couple they look.
But it is important tohim that Takao knows that Midorima would never hide him, would never make himhis secret, so one day they’re out in the mall and Midorima decides, To hellwith it, and he kisses Takao right there where everyone can see.
He does not expectTakao to pull back, beet red, sputtering, “Shin-chan! Wh-what—?” and then eyeshim suspiciously and says, “What’s your sign?”
“Pineapples!” Midorimasays, indignantly, remembering their long ago code, “Exactly when would I havebeen switched out for Kise or a clone?”
“I don’t know but I’mnot ruling anything out,” Takao says, still blushing. “What is with you?”
Midorima scowlsbecause this is all incredibly unfair. “I just wanted you to know. That I’m nothiding you. Or anything.”
Takao buries his facein his hands and Midorima wonders if maybe he did something wrong but thenTakao looks up and says, “OK, my boyfriend is adorable. Also, not hiding doesnot mean making out in public, we are Japanese, not Americans, come on,Shin-chan. Further also, we need to go home right now where I can make out withyou properly and maybe take off your clothes.”
“Don’t be soshameless, Takao,” Midorima says, his turn to blush.
“Oh, you never get toaccuse me of shamelessness ever again, stud,” Takao says, dragging him by hiscollar.
A/N:
Thank you friend, anon-friend! Sorry it has been so long! These seemedlike good ones to combine. Although anon-friend was asking for another Miracleto blush, since I have had Takao regularly making Midorima blush, this seemedlike a good combination. And after I answered @highweis’ question about PDA it gotme thinking about how the Miracles are probably OK with it but the boyfriendsprobably are not and how that might apply to MidoTaka and how it finallyoccurred to me how I wanted to write this prompt and also make a few clarifications I had always wanted to about their relationship, since it wasbothering me that I had set Takao up as the person who doesn’t want to hide hisrelationship and then they were hiding their relationship from their parentsand I wanted to explain that. Thanks again!

Putting together Dr. Kishitani, Sgt. Kasamatsu, Gen. Fujimaki, and Mr. Akashi, who makes the best dad jokes?
Hahaha, thanks for the question, friend! Dr. Kishitani and General Fujimaki probably make the most“dad-like” jokes of the dads. The “I’m hungry,” “Hello Hungry, I’m Dad”kinds of jokes.
Youji and Masaomi are probably boththe “I’m going to embarrass the hell out of my son(s) with howinappropriate my jokes are” kind of dad jokes.
Thanks again for the question!! =D
