“A Meltdown?”

Luke nodded glumly.  

“Aren’t those illegal?  And cause visions?”

“Yes. No. I don’t know.  No spice liqueur in it.  And Force detox prevents hallucinations.”

“You sneaky nerfherder!”  Lando’s deep laugh rang through the cantina.  “And you’re partaking because—”

He waited but Luke didn’t finish the sentence.

“Well, I’m celebrating Varn’s record profits.”   Lando clapped Luke’s shoulder. “And my friend’s return.  And you’re trying to forget a certain redhead.”  He grinned.  “Am I right?”

Luke finished his drink.  “Yes. No.  I don’t know.”

“I do know,” Lando commiserated.  “Another round, then.”

Family Reunion trip: continued:

9:54am. 10/6/2006

Airport bar.

Second glass of wine.

The ceaseless parade of people, some with martians in their ears (phone ear buds). Airport folk don’t smile. Everyone here has been searched and repeatedly reminded to be suspicious of everyone else.

 The bar tender lady said  to me  “Thank you sir, have a good flight.”

They pour “flight insurance” here. Turbulence antidote.

I’m not a good traveler. I feel vulnerable. Yet, it’s an exciting eye opener.

The bar crowd has really changed around. People fly in and out.

The airport bar waitress" flying is not for some, they don’t like to fly."

The wine helps ease the pain of anticipation.

The pilots dash about in stark white shirts and epaulets. Like lawyers in a jury trial, "I’m the expert.”

Trial and flight are similar.

The waiting area,  jury assembly room.
