That plot twist at the end though... they played it so well. I pride myself on being able to understand cinema stuff and know where a story is going but that caught me completely off guard. It wasn't until Joe said his shoe size that everything clicked into place for me. The foreshadowing with Ellie asking Susan how she didn't know what was happening in her own house and why Joe was getting so angry during the interview and why they thought they saw Nigel, it all came together so well.

I'm watching "Broadchurch", season 3, for the umpteenth time. Nothing can match the high, tragic drama of the first season, but this one has such a tight, well-crafted ensemble feel to it. I think it's my favorite of the three.

Plus, Ellie making Hardy apologize to Brian was just purely funny.

WIP WEDNESDAY!

I don't usually post my wips unless tagged in games or memes, but today I have written for Bird of Passage after a long, long time and proud of it, so I thought I'd share! Here goes, it's a tiny bit from the upcoming chapter:

Horowitz curled deeper into himself, hugging his arms tight around his torso until it looked as though he’d snap his own ribcage in half. Clearly he struggled not to freak out, and it wasn’t because of their general circumstance. It annoyed her a little.

The second she invited him in, however hard he tried to focus on nothing in particular and stay nonchalant, he visibly couldn’t help his gaze shifting from one little thing to another. All the things. Her things. From the corner of his eye he scrutinised the photograms on the bookcase, then her. The photos again, then the mess in the kitchen. Her, sitting on the bed—her bed—loading a gun. He didn’t think that she was a stranger to such things and said as much; on the other hand he never in his wildest dreams would have thought she was so proficient at handling them.

To Kat he looked like he’d go insane trying to fathom who she was based on the knick-knacks and the facts he learned about her tonight. And what irritated her, yet again, was the assumption written in his face that what he discovered differed to what he already thought he knew. That it confused or even surprised him she was not just a back-alley rat. Not only a thief and a liar.
