I've started taking Spanish lessons on duolingo, actually quite enjoying it. One of the few apps I've actually left notifications on, I'm 8 days into a streak, just doing like 15mins a day. Idk something about it works for me, drives me to keep the streak up and do my lessons, even if I'm collecting a night owl streak as well cause i keep doing them super late lol

I finished Chants of Sennaar the other day, and even though I got the good ending, I wasn’t ready to stop playing. So I started again—in Latin American Spanish. I’ve been on Duolingo for years, and I’ve heard about all the antics of Junior and Eddy and Lily that they seem likely to come up with. This is already helping! It’s cleared up at least one vocab mistake of mine.

Are there any other autistic/ adhd language learners out there with any tips for me?

I’ve been teaching myself Spanish for just over a year - it’s something I’ve always wanted to do. However as an autistic person with social anxiety problems this comes with a set of counterproductive obstacles.

I’d be really interested to hear other neurodivergent language learners experiences and what has worked for them.

Have I already told you that I'm a total language freak? 😅

Since March 2021, I'm learning Spanish on Duolingo daily, and I have some Spanish-speaking friends with whom I can practice my language skills, which is very helpful.

In 2022, I decided to brush up on my French as well. I studied it in Business College about ten years ago, but didn't really have the opportunity to practice it afterward, so I forgot a lot. 😟

Since my French seems to be better than I thought, and I'm making progress with my Spanish as well, I've started with Indonesian now. It's the language I want to learn most of all because I have a weakness for all things Indonesia.

And when I have a bit of time left, I dabble in Chinese and Dutch. But just for fun. I tried to learn them before but forgot the most.

As I said, I'm a total language freak ... 😂 PS: English is my second language, btw. My first is German.
