I'm Italian and a new follower, ever since I saw the region where Machete is from I can't stop calling him Carmelo in my head since it's a pretty common name there and Vasco speaks with a Tuscan accent in my head now( I love how they pronounce the letter C even if people sometimes makes fun of them for that)
It's always really fun hearing about any Italians that like my work and characters, because you guys obviously have the insider knowledge I (a Finnish person) am not privy to. If you say Machete looks like a Carmelo I have hard time doing anything but nodding and going "ah yes, sounds legit, you probably know your Carmelos better than I do".
#Italian in it's standard form sounds pretty distinct to me it's relatively easy to identify it#but there's no way I'd be able to differentiate between all the regional accents/dialects/languages#answered#anonymous#for comparison I can't tell spoken Swedish Norwegian and Icelandic apart reliably#even though they're our neighbors and I hear them pretty regularly and I'm technically supposed to be able to speak Swedish#on top of that I'm always mixing up Danish and Dutch

How are there so many pirate themed kids books but not a single one with a hook hand? What has the world come to?

#txt#ive never done the tournament before#if im lucky i can keep first place and get the achievement tho 😩 this is all i hope#ftr they restructured the course i was doing but. forgot to swap out the chapter tests to the new content so i ended up racking up a ton of#points just testing through stuff i already knew ^^;#now they think i know a bunch of words i dont which has been surprisingly fine#danish is super easy im ngl. the grammar is very similar to english and the old course structure had taught me all the gritty tough stuff#like prepositions early on so now all the stuff i dont know is mostly like. nouns i can either easily guess (again similar to english) or#just tap them to find out

#literally at this point i have anxiety attacks whenever i have to check mail from the danish state#and then i avoid/do the adhd protective forgetfulness for a month or two#also because in order to access my emails from the danish state i cant do it directly FROM my emails I have to log into the special emails#which requires 2 degrees of proof of id -- so you can IMAGINE how easy it is for my adhd to go Nope Not Today Too Much Hassle#and so when i get to it it turns out I havent paid a bill i knew nothing about and they've made it more expensive because im paying too late#literally paying adhd tax to the danish state since 2021#and i still cant access my bank account because the bank only accepts my existence under very narrow criteria i havent been able to fulfil#as soon as i get control of that account + my german passport sorted im done with denmark#*as a state not as a country -- nothing against dk as a country -- state's refusing to believe im a person on like... 3 levels now#gender? citizenship? bank account holder? foreigner? address-haver? it just doesnt know#(5 levels*)#somethingsomething automated processes and algorithms cannot allow for complexities of existence and will shunt people out of Existence#and look -- im white and middle-class and grew up in dk i can only imagine how much worse it is for other people#my continued adventures with the danish state except they're boring and exacerbate my mental health issues#the danish state: give us money -- the danish state: but not from your own bank account -- the danish state: uh actually more money woops#the danish state: you refused to pay us more money so now it's EVEN MORE money -- the danish state: still cant access your bank account tho

The way I probably could like, give Denise and Derrick parents and have at least one of them be a patriotic Poptart flavor. But I won’t do that. They don’t need parents they’re probably dead Anyways. Also they’re like second gen Americans from an European immigrant family so I’m not forcing the eagle country flavor onto a danish person

time to dip my toes into some finnish
#cant hurt right#although i feel like i should probably pick up either north sami or danish for Life Reasons#however. idk how much danish ill need to speak or whether just understanding it is enough#which requires way less effort bc of my swedish#hmmm. decisions#also theres less resources for north sami so its not as easy as just popping a duolingo lesson on the go#maybe ill focus on that during the summer!
