I have to say, with absolute, complete sincerity, that I love how Yusei's actually, genuinely scared of Kiryu. And not just during round one. But this is part of a bigger thing I generally love about Yusei. Like, I know some people think he's a boring character (especially in the sub), and like, even if I heavily disagree, I guess I can see where they're coming from, but for me, personally, I really like his calm, stoic, taciturn personality. But what I like even more are the moments where that personality slips and we see that it's sometimes a very coordinated effort on his part to stay calm and reasonable, and there are two things that are major examples of that kind of slip: For one, the genuine fear of Kiryu I mentioned above, and for two, his emotions towards people he cares about deeply. Yusei VS Kiryu round two has both of those and I just love it. For one, Yusei's going into the duel whle still scared of Kiryu. Like, he hasn't overcome that! Sure, he and Jack had their little slap-fight heart-to-heart, but that doesn't mean Yusei overcame his fear, he just decided to face Kiryu anyway, even though he's still scared. And in the same duel, we see how deeply he still cares for Kiryu—we even see him with tears in his eyes on-screen! And to me, especially in a show that was originally aimed at a primarily young, male audience (with all the stereotypes attached to the genre), I think those are some pretty unusual traits for a protagonist—and traits that communicate some pretty solid life advice for impressionable audience members. It's fine to be scared; be scared, but do it anyway. Caring for the people close to you is important and worth the effort. Expressing your emotions is allowed and not a sign of weakness.

Idk, I just think it's neat. (And I think Yusei's neat.)

Haaah, I'm rewatching Episode 55 and I can't believe I sort of forgot how much is happening and how stressed out everyone is being. Such a wild ride, holy gods. So many fucking bad rolls. For a hot second you could truly believe a TPK is about to occur.

Haha, oh man, I forgot about Sam's face once he realizes the arrow Nott fired is an explosive one and Caddy's about to be dead. The way he clutches Laura.

I will definitely watch that episode again.
