i do not always understand why things happen the way they do. i do not always make the most logical decision. these flaws... they are what make me human. while my family and friends--they help that humanity to grow.

Simon making him and Hank tea is so very cute. I really like the vibe that he keeps teabags, it feels right. I wonder if it's chamomile, that is Hank's favourite. Now, I'm very curious about the pictures shown behind so I'm gonna talk about this for a bit because I'm both obsessed and insane.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This first one is clearly from the Joe Jusko Simon, which I think is a cute little reference but I'm puzzled on why Simon would have that on his wall, but whatever.
Tumblr media
This one also seems to be a photo of himself, but I'm less sure about where this one might be from. Either way, continuing the trend of "Simon has a bunch of pictures of himself on the wall", which is hilarious.
Tumblr media
Now we come to these two. The first one could very easily be Simon also, but the second one is curious to me. I actually think it's referencing this photo Simon is shown having in Dark Reign: Lethal Legion, which is something that is making me insane.
Tumblr media
Like. despite everything. Simon still keeps a photo of him and Eric from when they were kids in his house. Despite having moved multiple times in the last few years, he's kept this with him throughout it all. Eric's dead and has been some time and Simon has a picture of his big brother and him on the wall in the house next to all his superhero stuff. I'm fine 👍👍👍

“According to Adam Smith, the discovery of America and the Cape route to India are ‘the two greatest and most important events recorded in the history of mankind.’ The importance of the discovery of lay not in the precious metals it provided but in the new and inexhaustible market it afforded for European commodities. One of its principle affects was to ‘raise the mercantile system to a degree of splendor and glory wish you could never otherwise have attained to.’”

Quote
Dr. Eric Williams started in a way which to my mind is unique in the history of Caribbean politics. He started with an intensive and quite exhausting campaign of popular education. He turned history, the history of the Caribbean, into gossip so that the story of a people's predicament seemed no longer the infinite barren track of documents, dates and texts. Everything became news: slavery, colonization, the forgivable deception of metropolitan rule, the sad and inevitable unawareness of native production. His lectures retained always the character of whisper which everyone was allowed to hear, a rumor which experience had established as truth. And whatever misgivings we may have about the ultimate value of popular education, this undertaking, it seems to me, has become an achievement of genius on the part of a teacher. No other West Indian politician has exposed himself so consistently to the gravest of all political risks: the risk of refusing to talk down to an electorate. He distinguished very early and quite clearly between formal education, which is often wasteful, and native intelligence: and having done that, he worked on the native intelligence by demanding at all times an adult attention and response to his lectures. This was an example, probably the first of its kind in our part of the world, of the teacher, in the noblest sense of teacher, turned politician, and of the politician, in the truly moral sense of politician, turned teacher. So when he visited Jamaica shortly after the formation of the People's National Movement to consult with Norman Manley, they were astonished and amused by the authority of tone with which he spoke about his plans for Trinidad and Tobago. One member of the Manley family told me: "We thought him a bit cracked to be talking as a Government with a party of a few months old and about to face its first election. In Jamaica it took the People's National Party some twelve years before we won our first election." In the euphoria of success which had marked his sojourn to Oxford University, Williams made no distinction between dream and reality; indeed he may have unconsciously embraced the belief that dream was the foundation of reality.
