Tumblr media
— TAIGA
↘ That was before going to the gym because you accompanied your boyfriend on the way to training. At the same time you tiptoed to reach Taiga’s lips, Seirin Captain opened the huge, heavy, gray door and frowned at you two. Immediately Junpei yelled at your partner that he was late and that he had to do a few extra laps around the court as a punishment.
↘ Of course, all this could not miss the huge blushes on the tall basketball player’s face, as well as a few words that your boyfriend tried to convey – unfortunately to no avail due to his tendency to stutter in stressful, intimate moments.
Tumblr media
— TETSUYA
↘ That day you thought you were alone in class (and whole school); it was Thursday afternoon and you finished your lessons twenty minutes ago. However, you asked your boyfriend to help you with something before he goes to meet his friends at the burger bar. Of course, Tetsuya was really glad to start explaining matrices and their multiplication to you. You smiled at each other every now and then, and even allowed yourself a little kiss from time to time.
↘ At one point, when your lips met again in a cute, this time a bit longer kiss, the classroom door opened with a loud bang, and as soon as you stepped away from each other, you noticed a few basketball team members. Unlike Kagami, however, Kuroko seemed to ignore his friends and only asked them for a few more minutes of privacy as he had not finished explaining today’s lesson to you. Your cheeks were as red as those of a few tall males, and you could have sworn you heard a sentence like, “Yeah, I’m sure kissing will help Y/N in math”.
Tumblr media
— SEIJUUROU
↘ You loved going to the gallery with your boyfriend. Not only to buy clothes or food, but most of all because you could spend time together without his dad or friends and without your loved ones. It was your private time, your moment of rest, conversation and cold coffee/tea. Seijuurou loved to see you happy, and you loved your partner. Unfortunately, after a few hours of spending time together, you had to, as it always does, part up for a while. You had to come back home and clean the apartment.
↘ As is your habit, you said ‘Goodbye’ with a long, slightly wet kiss. Akashi touched your both cheeks, and you smiled with delight. Afterwards, you waved at him and promised you would call him as soon as you got home. In the meantime, your moment of weakness has been noticed by the rest of the Rakuzan team, who definitely won’t let their captain rest (just wait for it).
Tumblr media
— RYOUTA
↘ Kise is one of the most affectionate and clingy people you and his entire basketball team know (poor boys...). So it’s no wonder that everyone around the tall blonde is used to his enormous feelings towards you, as well as loud words describing his feelings.
↘ No one is surprised that Ryouta kisses your sweet lips as a ‘Hello’, as a ‘Bye, bye’, for success in the match or exam, as a apology or to show his jealousy, happiness, sadness and regret. Kise really loves to kiss you; this is his favorite form of showing affection ‘cause he believes that each peck is unique and full of warm emotions. Especially kisses on the lips, which express great, sincere love.
Tumblr media
— ATSUSHI
↘ Atsushi is not very effusive in his feelings. He shows his love in gifts or time spent together. Nevertheless, if the purple head uses another of the five love languages – touch and compliments – you will feel the best in the world. Murasakibara is one of the most precious and gentle people you know, believe me.
↘ So when your boyfriend decides to kiss you in public, know that this is a really big and beautiful moment. And if he does it in front of his team (even if he doesn’t do it on purpose), you can feel special. After that, of course, a few people tease the two of you, but such a fantastic moment is worth it all.
Tumblr media
— SHINTAROU
↘ Three point shooter is so ‘lucky’ that whenever he gives you a kiss somewhere hidden, someone from his team notices it. Shintarou says it’s a bad fate, but you only laugh because of his blushes and then kith him on the forehead or nose to support and show him how much you love and appreciate him.
↘ This time it was exactly the same! That day you were in the park with your boyfriend, and he looked around the two of you. After a while, he found you were alone within a few hundred meters, so he leaned a bit towards your smiling face, and then gave you a short kiss right in the middle of your mouth. At the same time, the two of you heard a loud “Awhh, Shin-chan!” and you already knew it was happening to you once again.
Tumblr media
— DAIKI
↘ On the one hand, Aomine never had a problem kissing you in public or next to his basketball team, but only when he felt like it and didn’t show his other face, which was... really cute and soft. So when his kisses weren’t filled with lust and speed, but with gentleness and pure feelings, it really bothered him that someone dared to interrupt your moment of intimacy and at the same time made his cheeks a disgustingly sweet blush.
↘ Just like now; when he fondly said ‘See you’ to you because your bus had arrived, his blood pressure immediately surged up when he heard Shoichi’s annoying voice shouting, “Oooh, how sweet! I didn’t know you this way, Aomine!”. He wanted to kill him soooo badly.
Tumblr media
— SATSUKI
↘ Momoi is a very shy girl, although she doesn’t look like that. She loves hugging and holding your hand in public, but prefers kissing in some secluded place like her bedroom or your car. She’s a really fragile person and all kinds of jokes work very badly on her, even if it’s innocent words about how cute and funny she is.
↘ So when Aomine and a few other members of the Touou team caught you having a short but affectionate kiss on the bench while you were both having lunch... Satsuki almost passed out from the heat that caused her blush!

One of the things about canon vs fanon Akashi that probably shocked me the most is the age he was when he lost his mother. I've seen almost everywhere that "he was a very young child", and I don't know, maybe it's just my definition of a young child being different, but I've always interpreted it as "around 5 years old", especially since we're talking here about someone who's 15-16 when the main plot is happening.
Seijuurou was in fifth grade when Shiori died (Chapter 266, Volume 30). That boy was around TEN OR ELEVEN when she died. At TWELVE he started Teikou. The trauma wasn't even probably healed. He lost his biggest and only support in the extreme domestic situation he was in and literally like 3 years later we have the GoM falling apart and him switching personalities. By Winter Cup, it was around five years after her death. On the other hand, he was only 15-16 at that time, so for him, it was a third of his life, but five years is still not a lot.
He probably remembers her very vividly, causing him even more pain. Also - he started switching personalities right after her death (also mentioned in the same chapter) and Midorima did acknowledge that sometimes Akashi seemed to be a different person, so the grand switch wasn't just "I'm going to lose" moment, it was going on since Shiori's death and it just cumulated and exploded then.
He wasn't a baby when Shiori died, he was a preteen, which was probably the worst moment in a person's life for losing someone you're that close with, because you're old enough to understand that they're gone forever, but young enough to not understand fully how the future might look like and how to cope with the lost.
If he was younger - he would probably forget most of his life with his mother there and it would only be some nice memories.
If he was older - he would probably be able to cope better with her passing. It sure would've been hard, but probably not that hard as it actually was.
He lost her in the worst possible moment, also almost right before starting a new school, right before starting to mature physically. With everything new suddenly appearing in his life, he was left alone, without the only person that seemed to have cared about him.

Realistically, people can lose feelings toward someone who had hurt them greatly. No more rekindles, not even a spark.
This wouldn't happen to my fav ship Akafuri, but I love angst and I would like to put them in that situation.
Seijuurou and Kouki broke up last year due to reasons (Seijuurou was under succession process stress and Kouki was depressed). Seijuurou tried to take him back, but Kouki was still under clinical depression and the only reason he accepted the offer was because Koutarou (Kouki's bro) has a startup company and their main client was a subsidiary of Akashi Corporation.
It's the last thing Kouki could do for his brother whose business plans were paused for choosing Seijuurou last year.
Seijuurou tries everything to make Kouki smile while staying in their old apartment where they stayed as a happy couple, but all he could do is to watch Kouki eat himself away in the apartment, scared of him and wary of him. In these instances, Seijuurou would remember how Kouki made his life colorful, but he drained all those colors away.
Kouki's love is simply gone, his dreams unreached, his youth unrealized, and his life meaningless.
What had Seijuurou done to turn such cheerful being this way?
Can he wake up Kouki's soul again? Even not his love for him. He just wants Kouki happy again, even not for him.
hell yeah!! put them in situations!!
This is an interesting idea, especially with japan's attitude towards mental health and at the core of this premise is that yes Seijuurou distancing himself from Kouki when he was under succession scrutiny surely didn't help Kouki's depression- it is not the actual cause.
From the way you've described this, I can't help but think that in this Kouki has untreated, undiagnosed, clinical depression. Which will be a life long battle for Kouki, not a quick fix, tada!! you're all better! thing. It comes in waves and it ebbs, coasts, rushes, drowns- and Seijuurou needs to realize that. Kouki needs to confront that.
Seijuurou is a perfectionist with (although he would describe it as an entirely truthful and whole view) a very specific view that if things are not the way he wants them to be then he can make them the way he wants. And while some things definitely do work like that, another person's mental health isn't one of them. Especially if he trusts, loves, and respects that person. His character development arch would be centered around accepting this fact - which for a control freak like him it would be fairly difficult - and doing what he can to support Kouki be it holding him in the night, giving him space, offering to pay for any medical support like therapy or medicine, and even if it calls for it- walking out of his life.
It must be difficult for Kouki to be back in their old apartment and feel the ghost of who he was, of his hopes and dreams, and not recognize himself anymore. The memories of bad lonely nights, his insecurities bubbling up when Seijuurou wouldn't come home because he was "working late" and although Kouki 100% trusts him and knows that Seijuurou wouldn't cheat or anything those intrusive thoughts are so fucking loud. (Codependent Kouki lets goooooo :'( ) And unless Kouki got that mental health help and therapy, he won't be able to stand being back in the same environment, stuck in the same thought loops, and feeling awful about himself. And even if he does get help or therapy, he might still need to break off from Seijuurou to start fresh and actually have a safe place from the person who all of this is connected to...
And like you said, if their full and final dissolution is what will make Kouki finally able to make progress with his mental health and create better coping mechanisms/habits, Seijuurou would pack his bags for him.
I am banking on a ten year later reunion when Kouki has better control over his mental health and they can rekindle the spark that never truly died

hello, erina, my friend. could i ask (if you have time) for short headcanons for Akashi Seijuurou, Kuroko Tetsuya and Makoto Hanamiya and their s/o, who is a world-famous writer of criminal and horror novels? i am just curious what the relationship would be between a basketball player and a writer! lots of love for you and please, take your time with it!
Kuroko Tetsuya, Akashi Seijuurou and Makoto Hanamiya Having an S/O Who are A Criminal and Horror Author
➽───────────────❥➽───────────────❥
A/N: Hello there my best girl @pillow-anime-infos! I am glad that you requested me this headcanon because I was also thinking what if my KNB Crushes having S/O who is a popular novelist! I hope you like the final result!
Gender: Neutral
Warning: Profanities at Hanamiya
➽───────────────❥➽───────────────❥
Kuroko Tetsuya
Tumblr media
Inside of this headcanon, even though Kuroko doesn't seem like it. He would love all of your books even though your books have a horror or crime genre.
The first time he knows that you are working as an author of horror and crime fiction. He was surprised but not in a bad way. He was rather surprised because he did not expect that from you.
However, after that surprised reaction was thrown away. I can see that he is very proud of you and he would be very supportive to you to become an even bigger author.
I believe that Kuroko likes to read any kind of book even though it is not mentioned in the wiki or in any canon. However, I do not think that he likes horror.
I believe Kuroko would prefer your crime fiction books to horror books. I just believe that he is slightly squeamish if he had to read a gore part and the part where there's a jumpscare (or some kind of paranoid sensation after reading the book.)
I believe he enjoys crime fiction books, especially the one that looks like Sherlock Holmes because I do think that he likes to solve the mystery as he read the book.
Kuroko would also gladly help you to make better crime fiction while helping you write the story by giving you some of his suggestions to make the reader even think more to solve the problem inside of the book.
He would also watch all of your crime fiction movies that were adapted from your book. I don't think he would mind if it ended up slightly different but he does wish the movie followed the plot unless if it is too gory then he understand why it was removed.

Opening the front door of the house, a loud creaking sound could be heard along with the sound of sighing in exhaustion, "I'm home..." the person said as his eyes tried to look around his spouse. It was rather strange because usually she/he/they would go home more late than him as he could hear a clicking sound behind the kitchen.
Kuroko was silent for a moment before he closes the door, putting his shoes away, changing it with the house slipper and locked the door. He steps away from the living room as he trudges slowly, following the sound of the typing. His hands grab the knob of the door before he twists it open to see you on your computer.
"(Y/N)-san? I thought you will stay in the office," Kuroko asks, not expecting that you're not in your working place.
"My office room in my working place is under repair with the employee and editor's room too because there are broken water pipes with short circuit . So everyone can work in their house for a few months until everything is fixed," you told him without looking at him in the eyes.
You did not feel his presence getting close to you as Kuroko slightly bent down to see the words in the E-book that you edited. His blue eyes notice the scenes that you just wrote are lacking the elements of codes as you made a secret riddle inside of that page and the reader needs to guess it.
The gear in his head slowly moving around until an idea popped out, "(Y/N)-san. Don't you think the detective would figured it out immediately the almond scent is from the cyanide? I think you can use the ice cube trick as the killer killer his victim," he pointed out.
"Oh yeah, thanks sweetheart for telling me," You turn around to peck his cheeks.
Even though his face was as blank as a paper sheet, there were pink tints on his cheeks after he received a kiss from you. He's glad that he married you even though many people fear you for working as a crime and mystery author.

Akashi Seijuurou
Tumblr media
Inside of this headcanon, I believe that Akashi Seijuro is a book lover. Not as much as Mayuzumi but he still enjoys them nonetheless. Even if the book is non-fiction or fiction.
I do believe Akashi is not too surprised when he knows that you are one of the most popular authors in the country or in the town. Akashi is very observant.
When I said observant, he would notice that you would often invite your editor to your house as he listen to your conversation with them.
He would also notice your style of writing where he can point out the distinction between your writing style with the other authors from your books.
Akashi likes your books, both Horror and the crime fiction. However, he prefers the crime fiction than the horror books that you made.
It's not because he is scared of horror stories because I do believe he is not someone who is easily scared. He rather chooses Crime fiction because he likes to stimulate his brain to think more.
I can see he would also help you write some scenes in the crime fiction story by giving some suggestions and helping you add some riddles inside of the story.
Akashi would also be proud of you for becoming one of the biggest authors and I can see he would show you off to his acquaintances, his friends and his family about you.
Ⰶ║ ⵈ ⵈ ⵈ ⵈ ⵈ ⵈ║Ⰶ
Staring at the figure in front of you, it feels like the person in front of you wasn't you even though it was your reflection. They were wearing an amazing gown or suit for the upcoming party that would be soon celebrated together with Akashi and other big figures that you never met before.
This celebration is for your biggest hit in the book titled 'The Deadly Jazz' about the fight between the biggest detective and the biggest mafia in Japan as the book was adapted into one of the biggest and most popular movies in Japan. The book itself was a little bit inspired by Akaashi's life where the father of the mafia always controlled his son.
Taking a deep breath, you closed both of your eyes, shaking your head and trying to remove that ugly thought away since today was supposed to be your happy day. A knock could be heard from outside of the door but you did not hear it at all as you still keep staring at your own reflection.
"(Y/N)-san? Are you ready yet?" he did not receive your answer.
"....(Y/N)-san?" He calls your name once again
Akashi decides to hold the knob of the door before twisting it open and pushing the door away. His red eyes glance at you, standing there with a frown on your face. The frown on your face clearly told him that you don't feel that you're beautiful even though the clothing that you wear right now is hugging every inch of the curve of your body and showing your ethereal beauty.
Akashi walks up on you, wraps his arms around you before he pull you close to his chest, "(Y/N)-san. Do you feel you are not beautiful/handsome enough?"
"...Yes," You mutter.
"...Do not be sad, my darling. You are the most attractive person in her. You are also one of the greatest author in this country, and you are the dearest person in here. You are perfect," he kisses the temple and the crown of your head.
"..Stop trying to flatter me, Akaashi-kun. You're making me embarrassed," you looked away with a red face.
"I am not trying to flatter you, (Y/N). I am just stating the fact that you should love yourself," His lips curved into a tiny smile before he hugs you closer.

Hanamiya Makoto
Tumblr media
It is canon that in his free time when he is not practising basketball, his hobby is reading books and because of that. I believe that he enjoys horror, crime fiction, thriller, mystery, or any kind of heavy novel books.
Hanamiya loves the type of book that also can stimulate his brain so it was no wonder that he can be one of the most tricky basketball players in KnB.
Unlike Kuroko and Akashi, he is not someone who expresses love and affection even though the person is close to him. Because of that, he wouldn't be directly says he likes your book directly to your face.
You have to be observant to notice that he likes your book and is secretly proud because I see he does enjoy your crime fiction and horror novellas.
He would not directly say that your book is good like Akashi and Kuroko. Because I said you have to be observant, the reason is that there would be some expressions from him that accidentally escape as he read some scenes that he finds it's good.
He doesn't help you like Akashi and Kuroko by giving you a direct suggestion. His suggestion to make your story would be rather indirect and you have to figure it out.
Hanamiya would also make fun of you if he finds some of the scenes of the story in your book do not make sense or if he thinks certain scenes are stupid and need to be revised.
However, I do think he would kind of help you if you ask him for his help to make a gore scene in your book but yes, he would make fun of you in the first time before he helps you out.
Ⰶ║ ⵈ ⵈ ⵈ ⵈ ⵈ ⵈ║Ⰶ
The ticking sound of the alarm clock on the nightstand along with the sound of the typing from the screen in front of your eyes keeps teasing you. As if those things are teasing you with the upcoming deadline and reminding the sound of your grumpy editor. As an author it is required that you have a creative mind.
However, it is getting difficult for you to even think of an idea for your horror story that you are going to publish soon. It stresses you off, almost all of your ideas to make the next scene in chapter five are not scary enough to make the reader realize the fear that she would install inside of them.
"No....that torture idea is not scary enough," you whisper to yourself, shaking your head and deleting the paragraphs before you revised all of the words.
"Tch, what the hell are you doing. You look like Sadako from the movie ring, maybe you would even be the next ghost in that movie" a familiar voice commented on your stressed state.
Across from the bedroom with the door wide open, you see Hanamiya giving you a scrutinizing look, judging your miserable state with dishevelled hair, bags under your eyes, dried skin and blood-shot eyes. He was right, you look horrible with your state after stressing more than an hour just to create a scary scene.
"What's it to you?" you roll your eyes at his comment.
"Haha, did I hurt your feeling?" His eyes squinted a little bit with a mocking smile.
"Whatever, just help me in this book. I need your fucking brain to create a scary scene," you sent a glare at him.
"Nahhh, Do it on your own," he walks to the bathroom sink, cleaning his face to wash the dirt and oil away from his face. Knowing him, you didn't put his words into your heart as you roll your eyes once again before continue typing your story down.
Soon enough, there was a tiny shift next to you. You don't need to look at your right side, knowing it is your husband Hanamiya. However, what he did surprises you a lot. Nonetheless, you appreciated his comment.
"Isn't the victim have a large built? It's better if the killer uses The Iron Maiden for the victim, their blood and gut spilt more rather than just using a giant swinging axe," his eyes glances at the pharagraph.
"....Yeah, I just realized that. Thanks, McEyebrows," you look at him, giving a tiny peck on his jaw.
"Tch, just continue writing, moron." he clicked his tongue, shoving you away but not hard enough to make you fall from your bed.

THE GIRL WHO FLEW DOWN THE STAIRS _
┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈
‘ the story of akashi meeting you and all the events after that made him realize he was falling for you ’
┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈
character .. akashi seijuurou
word count .. 1.3k
tags .. fem!reader who is energetic but also thoughtful and likes to learn (as requested) , lowkey pining? , s h o g i , written from akashi pov , requested by the lovely bean anon <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Akashi’s first impression of you wasn’t anything bad. It wasn’t exactly good either. It was certainly memorable though. ‘The girl who flew down the stairs, knocking him onto the ground, and landing on top of him with a thump’ is how he remembers you.
The moment was almost cliche. If your eyes had met and lingered on each other, both aware of the position you were in but not moving away, then it possibly would’ve been a scene straight out of some cheesy romance novel.
Instead, you seemingly bounced straight up upon impact, not even bothering to spare Akashi a second glance. You proceeded to give him a quick apology, running down the next flight of stairs immediately after.
It was definitely one of the odder interactions Akashi had with his fellow students at Rakuzan High, but it amused him nonetheless and made him notice you much more often around campus. Even though you weren’t in any apparent rush anymore, you still radiated this energy that was all bubbly and seemingly ready to burst.
It brought a small smile on his face every time he saw you, bouncing along hallways without a care in the world, chattering away with your friends. Sure you seemed like the typical happy-go-lucky person, but Akashi couldn’t help but see you as a bit more unique.
Your second interaction with Akashi was an interesting one too, in Akashi’s opinion at least.
The basketball team had just won a tournament the other day, so Akashi was free this afternoon. He had decided to go challenge some shogi club members to a few games.
In the middle of one of those games, you walked into the club room.
Akashi didn’t think you were part of the club, and his suspicions were confirmed when another member of the club went to ask if you needed anything. Akashi was definitely not eavesdropping, no he was paying attention to his game (the one he knew he would easily win anyway) when you pulled out an envelope and he happened to overhear you telling the club member that someone asked to meet you.
Nobody in the room came forward to claim they were the one who sent the letter though.
After a few awkward, silent moments, you moved to take a seat with some of the other club members. It was an action that surprised Akashi. He figured you would’ve just left because the whole did seem like a waste of time. However, you just sat there asking some club members to teach you how to play.
Akashi could sense genuine curiosity in you and, needless to say, it intrigued him. It seems like there’s more to the “girl made of energy” than he originally thought.
The clock ticked, and a few rounds later, Akashi decided it was time to head home. Saying his formal goodbyes, he walked out of the clubroom.
He didn’t expect you to come running after him, almost slamming into him again in the process.
“You shouldn’t run around school so much, you know. You could end up bumping into people and maybe even hurting them.” The words left Akashi’s lips sounding a lot more teasing and flirtatious than he intended.
You blushed and started rambling out apologies. ‘Cute’ Akashi thought.
His brain froze.
Wait. Cute? How-
“Anyway um.. you left your notebook back there…” you said, holding out what was indeed his notebook out towards him.
“Oh…” was all he could say. He rarely forgot his things, especially things as important as his notebook. It seems his mind must’ve been too distracted by... other things. “Thank you L/n-san.”
He saw a slight shock on your face. “You know my name?”
His brain froze yet again. How was he supposed to answer this question without seeming like a stalker?
“Well yes…” he started before you cut him.
“Didn’t expect the Akashi Seijuurou to know my name.”
He scoffed at that. “I think I’d know the name of the girl who jumped down the stairs and knocked me to the ground.”
“Again, I’m really sorry about that…” you said with a smile, although Akashi could see the guilt that lingered behind your eyes.
“Don’t worry about it,” he quickly said. “I was just…”
He was just what? Flirting? Was he actually flirting? Him. Akashi Seijuurou. Flirting??
“…you know,” he finished quietly.
You didn’t say anything in response but instead looked at him with a peculiar sort of gaze.
“Um.. hate to make things awkward by asking this but… were you the one who sent me this?” You held up the envelope Akashi saw earlier.
“No, I didn’t.”
“Oh… okay then.” Was it just Akashi’s imagination or did he hear a sliver of disappointment in your tone? “I suppose you don’t know who it is either right?”
He shook his head.
A lot of thoughts rushed through his mind. Did you actually expect him to send you a love letter? Did you hope it was him?
He sensed you were about to leave though, so before he could regret it, he asked you, “Why do you want to know who sent it anyway?”
Your eyes widened slightly at the question.
“I understand the curiosity and wanting to know who it is but… if they didn’t show up, why are you still waiting?” He clarified.
“Akashi-san, you’ve never confessed to someone have you?”
He gave a slight nod.
“Well, I don’t see why you’d need to,” you mumbled more to yourself than him. Clearing your throat, you continued, “The thing is, confessing takes a lot of courage. And writing this letter asking me to meet them here would’ve taken a whole lot of that courage already. I think that, if they were able to go that far, then I should at least hear them out right?”
That… surprised Akashi.
“But then again, there’s always a possibility this is just a prank,” you added as an afterthought.
Unsure of what to say, he just nodded. “It is possible, considering how long you had to wait.”
You smiled, “The wait was fine though. I had fun learning shogi.”
You actually had fun learning how to play? Looking back, it did seem like you were enjoying yourself…
It’s strange. Akashi realized just how much his view of you changed in one afternoon. Earlier, you were that bubbly, energetic girl bouncing through the halls. Now, you were this thoughtful and kind person who liked to learn. You also said you had fun playing shogi, which nearly made Akashi’s heart skip a beat.
Oh.
Oh.
He gets it now. The reason his brain was acting all slow was you. With that thought, everything became clearer.
Now he wishes that love letter really was a prank.
“Ah Akashi-san, I think I have to go home soon,” you said, holding up your phone. “You’re heading out too right? Wanna walk with me?”
He blinked in surprise but quickly agreed.
“Great, just let me get my things first-” And with that you rushed back into the club room.
Akashi stood staring at the empty hallway, still caught up in his thoughts and trying to process what just happened between you two just a few seconds ago.
When you came back out with your things, he couldn’t help but smile softly. The two of you fell into conversation easily, and by the time you walked out of the school gates, you were still in a talk that showed no signs of nearing an end.
He wanted to continue walking and talking like this, but there was a car and a driver waiting for him in the exact opposite direction of where you were headed.
“Well, goodbye then L/n-san,” he said, hoping the reluctance wasn’t obvious.
You smiled in response. “Goodbye Akashi-san. It was nice talking to you.”
With that the two of you went your separate ways. Throughout the car ride home, Akashi could think of nothing but you. It would seem… he has taken quite the liking to you.
He isn’t sure what’ll happen next, but he’s looking forward to seeing you again and hopefully, talking more with you too.

How would GOM react if a guy was flirting with you. Thank you in advance.
A/N: basically,,,, RIP DUDE(s) WHO TRIED TO FLIRT WITH YOU AHAHAHHAHAHA.. anyway this was pretty short but i hope you still like it nonetheless/(//w//)/ - lily
Tumblr media
AKASHI SEIJUUROU
lol i pity the guy who tries to flirt with you knowing that you’re akashi’s girl</3
no one would dare we all know that
but say some douche didn’t or had the guts to try to flirt with you and say akashi saw it happen
ohohohhooo
rip douche
akashi would walk up to you all smiles and nonchalantly put an arm around your shoulder or your waist and tell you he has something urgent to discuss with you
as he’s about to lead you away he’ll stare daggers at the guy and by staring daggers i mean literal daggers
cuz yk,,, akashi has a pretty intense aura
if mr. douche still doesnt get the message and tries to flirt with you again at some other time….
welp:’(
akashi would probably be logical and let you handle it yourself but if you, for some reason, still haven’t realized mr. douche is flirting with you,,,,, akashi will take matters into his own hands
by ofc lightly threatening mr. douche
akashi’s light threats are definitely more than enough to scare away anybody who thinks they can flirt with his s/o
Tumblr media
AOMINE DAIKI
to others,,, aomine may not seem like the best boyfriend
some other boys might think that and try to flirt with you whether jokingly or seriously
either way tho… it makes aomine pissed af
like excuse you?? that’s HIS s/o no one else can flirt with you bUT him
or… “the only one that can flirt with y/n is me” as he might put it
yeah he’s pretty possessive but he’ll generally not rlly say anything if the flirting wasn’t that much
if it was EXCESSIVE and OBVIOUS flirting tho… well he’d prolly be upset about it:,(
depending on the person, he may get a twinge of jealousy and start an intense make out session later
or he might get a bit pouty altho this one isn’t as likely
generally tho he’d just wrap his arm around you or call you “babe” and just make it rlly rlly obvious that you’re already taken
by none other than him ofc
and it’s usually enough,,, seeing as he’s a pretty big guy and looks pretty strong too
Tumblr media
KISE RYOUTA
kise’s normally all over you and its very much obvious to others that he’s with you,, or at least into you
but if someone were to flirt with you…
he’ll probably try to “intercept” sorry my vocab rlly bad rn the flirting and basically just talk a lot and respond to all your courter’s advances
he’ll leave no room for you or for them to talk and they’ll eventually just leave
after they do,, he’d turn to you and say smth like, “You know y/n,, I rlly dont like it when other guys flirt at you:)”
akjgkl idk just picturing it is just…. klajdlsgjlsbkO{@u5902
anywayyss he wouldn’t do anything much but just be pretty petty bout other guys flirting with you
on the other hand,, sometimes he’d just go like “AHH Y/N-CCHI IS SO ATTRACTIVE AND AMAZING OFC OTHERS WOULD TRY TO FLIRT WITH YOU~~ <333”
he’ll do this when he’s in a good mood and when he doesn’t think the flirting was smth serious or smth that threatens him in any way
he trusts you know enough not to flirt back anyway U.U
Tumblr media
MIDORIMA SHINTAROU
midorima is very… awkward when it comes to others flirting with you
it happens a lot,, a lot more than he’d like
and it unsettles him that people actually have the guts to shamelessly flirt with you
eSPECIALLY IN FRONT OF HIM
but poor boy doesnt rlly know how to react
he just kinda,,,
*huffs*
*straightens glasses*
*tells them to stop in a direct manner*
his methods may be… unconventional
but its rlly rlly effective
(plus the fact that he’s huge and very broad scares them away pretty easily)
no one would wanna push midorima when he’s being that direct with them
it simply isnt worth the hassle
Tumblr media
MURASAKIBARA ATSUSHI
so the other guys (minus akashi) are already pretty big and scary enough to make those feeling flirtatious around you leave
murasakibara is pretty much the same but EVEN BIGGER and EVEN SCARIER
what’s worse is he’s also pretty direct and you never know when he’s actually upset
so if he seems some guy flirting with you
or even talking to you tbh
he’ll walk up to you guys,, and trust me when he “walks up” it looks rlly menacing
and either he’ll just stand there (if he has nothing he wants you to do)
or he’ll just drag you away to get snacks or go home or go watch him practice basketball or literally anything rlly
if he decides to just stand there and much on some food or smth.. its gonna be rlly lowkey scary
like just imagine this giant staring down at you with an unreadable expression but very much possibly an angry/upset one
yeah it can be pretty nerve-wracking for those who arent used to him
and its normally more than enough to get any guy to stop flirting with you

We’re still here
Tumblr media
Hi everyone, it’s been a while, but this blog is not inactive. We’ve just had no new submissions or much in the way of interaction lately and I have other projects that currently demand more attention.
I would still love any submissions, questions, suggestions or whatever else you want to throw my way though. Let’s not let this project fade into nothing.
Happy Commenting!

November 5th
Tumblr media
It's November 5th which promises chaos, if not in the world, then at least on Tumblr. I decided to lean into it and celebrate the newest Tumblr holiday by removing submission restrictions.
So for the next 24 hours you can submit any fan work, no matter how many comments it already has. You also don't have to comment on another work first.
This event ends on Nov 6th at 10:30am GMT+1 (5:30am EST). So why not submit one of your fanworks or one of your favorite fanworks from other people (with permission of course) that deserve more attention? I'm aware I should probably start planing these events sooner than the morning of the day, but oh well...

Some words of encouragement for all the writers out there whose fics get little attention. As AO3 Comment Of The Day pointed out several times, the amount of kudos and/or comments we get on our stories does not relate to our worth as writers or the quality of our works :)
We shouldn't get discouraged because of a lack of attention. Your fic is someone's favorite fic out there! It's the story someone reads when they're feeling unwell, sad or lonely 🧡💛💚
Thank you for those words, I couldn’t agree more! 💚💙

Tumblr media
April is half way over and we got eight submissions so far this month. That is almost as much as we got in the last three months combined, so that is something.
But I would still love to get more submissions and keep growing this blog. Especially since our one year anniversary is coming up next month. And for that I need your help, I really want to improve things around here, so please send me any ideas or suggestions that you think could help. You can send them anonymously if you want. I am open to all ideas.
What would encourage you to submit works? What would encourage you to comment on more works? Which past events/activities did you like? (E.g. Fandom highlights, theme weeks, suspending the comment-first-rule, etc.)

Introduce your Fandom
Tumblr media
One of the things I love about the Comment Exchange is, that I keep learning about new fandoms, rediscover old ones or realise that there are fanworks for media that I like but never thought to look for online.
So in the spirit of that, I'm curious what fandoms you're currently most focused on. Maybe you could tell us a little about it and what you like about it. And maybe, while you're at it, you could submit a fanwork or two to go along with it. 😜
Feel free to tag your fandom friends and mutuals

Hello! I'd like to say I absolutely LOVE your DM series! I've reread all the stories dozens of times, and they always cause me a storm of emotions! (≧▽≦) And if you are taking requests may I ask for more Company of Wolves AkaFuri? Thank you! :D
Tumblr media
Akashi throws his phone on his bed in disgust, and starts pacing the room. He always thought he had more pride than this.
By rights, after the first two times Furihata didn't answer his phone, Akashi should have given up. He definitely should not still be trying to call. He's Akashi Seijuurou, he's not going to chase after a romantic partner. And a beta wolf no less. It is insulting, for one thing. Any one-- especially any wolf-- should feel fortunate to be noticed by him. If Furihata isn't interested, then Akashi should just give up, and be thankful to all his ancestors and the heavens that he isn't attaching himself to an unsuitable romantic interest.
But that's not what's happening. What's happening is that Akashi's wolf wants to travel to Tokyo and insist that Furihata pay attention to him.
They'd gone running together. They had... fun. The entire time, it felt right, in a way that very few things had ever felt right.
This is stupid. This is so stupid. He is going to forget Furihata. Akashi is not going to make a fool out of himself for a beta who, really, has no redeeming qualities whatsoever as a romantic partner. If Furihata does not have the sense to be thankful for Akashi's interest, then he is not worth Akashi's time. Akashi is definitely not going to Tokyo.
*
He goes to Tokyo.
"Akashi?" Furihata exclaims, flailing and falling down. Akashi's eyebrow twitches, because really, they should be past this already.
"Hello Furihata," Akashi says, offering up a hand to help the other wolf up. Furihata blushes slightly, (and Akashi is a little appalled at how much he likes that), but accepts Akashi's help. He lets go of Akashi's hand far quicker than Akashi would like.
"What uh, what are you doing in Tokyo? Are you here to see Kuroko?"
"No. I am not," Akashi says, and he knows he sounds cold. But really. He should leave it alone, but all common sense abandons him, and he says, "Furihata, it is pointless to pretend we both don't know what is happening. By the laws of our kind, you are my mate and it's stupid to not talk about that."
Furihata swallows. "That's-- it just doesn't seem like there's much to talk about."
Akashi glares at him. "Don't be stupid. Look, it is an unfortunate situation all around. Alphas and betas are deeply incompatible for pack hierarchy. But if I can overlook this, I don't see why you can't."
"Overlook this," Furihata repeats.
"It is a much more advantageous relationship for you, after all. I would be giving up much more."
The silence stretches on, and Akashi finds that he has no idea what that look on Furihata's face is. Finally, Furihata says, "Well. I, personally, was always hoping to find a mate who wouldn't have to overlook so much to be with me. That seems like a pretty big thing to give up. And I’m not going to. Thank you, Akashi. I am sure you will find someone more advantageous to you soon."
Akashi opens his mouth to say, Don't be absurd, but Furihata drops his school bag, shifts into a wolf, and runs away.
Which is foolish, really, since Akashi is much faster than him and could surely catch him. Very easily.
Akashi doesn't move. He feels a little bit like he's been hit by a bus.
A/N: Thanks friend and anon-friend!! These are very old requests, so apologies for how late this has been. I wasn't sure what else I was going to do with this AU, but apparently I've decided to go full on Pride and Prejudice here =D I really need to put this AU on ao3 though, it's getting absurd to track down the other parts. (I also feel the need to clarify that alpha and beta are being used in wolf pack terms, and uh, not in any other way, juuuust in case there was some confusion on that). At any rate, here's the AkaFuri parts as context for others: One  Two Three Four and Five.

don’t judge a book by its cover.
request: requests are open? i can’t just let this slide! can i request a hcs where rakuzan boys finding out their s/o who seems to be fragile, naive, and weak actually have an amazing self defense skills? like maybe one day they found some boys hitting on them while they are away and trying to hurt them for rejecting them, but when the boys are about to save them she already took the matters in her own hands?
# tags: headcanons; current relationships; romance; comedy; a bit of drama; but also fluff; supportive!boys & powerful!reader; sfw
includes: gender neutral reader ft. reo mibuchi, chihiro mayuzumi, kotarou hayama, seijuurou akashi & eikichi nebuya {knb}
author’s note: love it. also very sorry for my absence. i’ve been feeling bad lately, and i’m on my period :(
Tumblr media
— REO
↘ Only your family knew that you had been taking self-defense lessons for a long time. It was a form of training, entertainment for you, and you just wanted to feel safer – especially at night, coming back from college or work in the dark. You found the classes extremely interesting, and your trainer always praised you sincerely. You liked this form of physical activity.
↘ That day you finished classes at six in the evening. Staring at the phone’s screen, you texted Reo, telling him that you would wait for him in front of the main gate of the building. The basketball player agreed, of course, adding that he buy the two of you something warm from a vending machine before the meeting. You thanked him for these words, and then put the phone in your pocket.
↘ “... Good evening, Y/N. Are you coming back alone?” Suddenly, you heard a low voice to your right, and then you saw a boy about your age strange to you. I mean, he was no stranger – you knew him from the hallway at the university, and he would also appear at random times in your school schedule from time to time. However, you didn’t know his name and exactly how old he was. The boy immediately started walking towards you. “I will go with you, okay?” He smiled in a strange way, and you thanked him for his offer, but added that you would do just fine on your own.
↘ The man, however, insisted and grabbed your hand at one point. You quickly used this moment to twist his shoulder to the other side. The student bent at his knees and screamed, and you just held his hand tighter. From your lips came a short ‘No, mean no’, to which the brunette quickly apologized to you.
↘ “It was impressive.” Reo’s familiar tone entered your mind, and you quickly let go of the teenager’s hand. Your partner handed you a paper cup of steaming drink. “You must teach me this, baby.”
Tumblr media
— CHIHIRO
↘ Hardly anyone noticed your boyfriend – they had to really focus to notice his presence. It started to irritate you every time you and Chihiro went out into town together; were you in the zoo? People thought you came here alone. Did you go to the restaurant? Someone wanted to join you because they didn’t notice your partner at first. You have a picnic on the beach during your vacation after high school graduation? Someone asked you for a phone number saying you’re beautiful as a mermaid/triton.
↘ At one point you were afraid that if someone wanted to hurt you – they would do it because they wouldn’t notice your boyfriend. So you decided to enroll in a self-defense lesson with yoga. These were great activities that not only improved your physical condition but also calmed you down mentally. After each class, you felt lighter and more confident.
↘ So when you went for a walk in the park and you were accosted by two boys, you didn’t have to wait for either of them to notice your other half. You immediately used your own vision from self-defense classes to overpower the two males who, looking at you from the ground, finally noticed Chihiro. Terrified, not knowing if it was you or your partner, they fled the park, almost knocking their teeth out on the slippery grass.
↘ “It was pretty cool.” Fair-haired man admitted, and you giggled.
↘ “Since you taught me basketball, I can teach you some techniques.” You winked at the young student, and he nodded.
Tumblr media
— KOTAROU
↘ You always dressed in beautiful shirts, bows, pants matching your sweet expression and shoes with small accessories. You were a little oasis for Kotaro and a place that smelled like cotton candy and raspberry tea every day. So when your boyfriend noticed how well you were doing alone in an unpleasant situation with another basketball team during the summer competition... He was shocked. And at the same time, he was full of excitement.
↘ It all started when someone on the opposite team started insulting the Rakuzan team, including your boyfriend. Another person added that Hayama is a weak player and the only thing he can do is dribble, which for the opposing team was boring and not very spectacular. You chose to ignore it, but when yet another person began to personally insult your partner; saying that he’s stupid, he is not handsome, that you are with him out of pity or that anyone would easily replace Kotarou and give you more pleasure... Fear God.
↘ Your perfect punch to the captain’s nose was more than spectacular, and the blonde looking for you almost choked on the drinking water. Kotarou heard the other team’s conversation, he saw that these words hurt you so much and he wanted to stand in front of you and take you away from those dumb assholes, but instead he deeply cheered on you. You were amazing, you really were.
↘ “... And remember, you fools. Anyone else is better than you and no one will look at the worms you are!”
↘ Yup, this is his sweet but brave loved one.
Tumblr media
— SEIJUUROU
↘ Akashi knew perfectly well about your hobby which was boxing and related martial arts. He’d come to your training a lot and he definitely loved it when you would approach him during the breaks and give him a sweet kiss. Back then, you were the complete opposite of yourself in a cage. But your boyfriend really loved it and his support was a huge motivation for you.
↘ On that sunny day, a new member was assigned to your group to train at the same time as you and some of your other friends. He was a year younger than you, a little taller, and way overconfident. He spoke in a nonchalant tone to the coaches, other course participants and their relatives. On the other hand, he tried to get closer to you, showing a total lack of respect for your other half. You felt nervous and irritated.
↘ Fortunately, the trainer matched all the students in pairs during the training, and you got three rounds in boxing with a new male who was still too confident.
↘ “Such a cute person won’t beat me, haha.”, “You must have recently started training too, right?”, “These pants give your figure a nice boost.”
↘ During the sparring, you definitely were the best of all. Your punches were careful, your dodges were perfect, and your footwork was downright textbook. Seijuurou was very proud of you and he didn’t even have to get up from the bench to explain the teenager’s behavior. You humiliated him well enough and showed him his place.
Tumblr media
— EIKICHI
↘ When talking and looking at your boyfriend, many people feel... respect for him. After all, he’s very tall, broad and really well-muscled. In contrast, you seem to be a genuinely fragile and empathetic person. You’re opposites of each other and yet you attract each other like two magnets. It’s a wonderful sight, believe me.
↘ No one has ever suspected that Eikichi’s calm, sweet and graceful beloved would turn out to be a little tiger with sharp claws and long fangs!
↘ That evening you were waiting outside the cinema for your lover; you were supposed to watch one of the newest films, which interested you not only with the plot (a crime fiction with elements of romance and a delicate dose of humor), but also with the cast. After all, who doesn’t love Kenjirou Tsuda? We all love him! That’s why you waited patiently for the dark-skinned basketball player while browsing through other movie premieres; you had a few more tickets to use.
↘ At some point you felt a strange presence next to you and as quickly as possible you looked around. Next to you was a tall man, who was also definitely older than you – he could have been your father or uncle. His strange smile and distracted eyes made you feel disgusted and slightly anxious, you also felt the smell of alcohol. However, you decided that you would not show remorse and fear, so you looked back at your phone instead. To your happiness, a few other people were standing in front of the cinema, and in addition, Eikichi was due to appear in a few moments. Nevertheless, suddenly the man grabbed you by the sleeve of your jacket saying something about your appearance or face, and you automatically straightened your arm, knocking him out with a punch to the shoulder.
↘ Nebuya came up to you... and laughed a bit, then woke the old man up and asking if he should escort him to the police station, or if he could get there by himself for disturbing you, a.k.a. his partner.

AkaFuri drabble
This isn’t big enough to warrant a post on ao3 so here’s this.
Akashi makes Furihata honeyed-lemon to wish good luck!
Seijuurou looked at the blue tiffin box in his hand. It wasn’t heavy, but his hands felt a little clammy as he waited outside the Seirin locker room. It was Seirin’s first match in the Inter-high. It was also Kouki’s first time captaining the team in an official game. Seijuurou knew he was absolutely terrified.
A week prior, he had called him to ask for guidance on letting go of the nerves but he knew he was of little to no help. Seijuurou had never been nervous for such things. The first time he led a team, spoke or performed on stage, he felt excited to show his skills. There was no fear of failure. Not only because he was fully prepared, but because his mother had been there to assure him that failure wasn’t something to be scared of.
He did not understand, but he wanted to be of some help. Momoi had made the suggestion to prepare honey lemon slices. It was practical and simple.
The door to the locker room opened and the first one to step out was Kouki. His jersey and uniform were brand new, the 12 replaced with a 4. He looked taken aback for a moment but beamed. “Sei? What are you doing here?”
“A surprise visit,” he replied. “And I wanted to watch your first match as captain.”
Kouki nervously chuckled “Don’t judge too harshly okay?”
“You’ll be fine,” he said. “I know you will.”
Kouki grinned confidently. “That’s because of my team.”
“Let’s see how far you’ll get.” A challenge. This was his and Kouki’s first time as true rivals. He knew that the team, especially Tetsuya and Kouki, would be more vicious with Rakuzan. Their rivalry had continued into their third-year and this was the last chance they had to truly see who was better.
Seijuurou handed the box. “A little present, of sorts.” he said. Kouki opened it. His lips parted and there was a tender look in his eyes.
“Thank you.” he said.
Nothing else was said for a moment.
When Seijuurou observed Kouki, he still looked nervous, he still looked worried.
But he looked ready to fight.
“I’ll meet you at the Winter Cup soon.” said Kouki.
“I look forward to it.”

AU where Akashi & Furihata meet as adults when the former catches the latter in the middle of his breakdown after going through a bad experience. This unexpected reunion allows them to explore a connection that they never had back when they were still high school classmates. And the more they spend time together, the more Akashi becomes certain he should've kept in touch with Furihata all those years ago. Yet, no matter how eager Akashi is to get to know Furihata better, the latter keeps refraining himself from doing the same to the former. But why? Akashi has proven countless times that he's genuine with his actions. And what does Furihata's unwillingness to open his heart have anything to do with the incident he suffered during his elementary school years?
(I noticed often in AkaFuri fics that it's always Furi who has to do the initiative to get Aka to let down his walls, open himself up to others & let them into his life. So I thought of this role-reversal idea as a response to that)
This is really interesting because like you said, it's often Furihata trying to lower Akashi's walls...
okay, first things first: I think we must suppose that their shared history of basketball is no more- especially if they are going to have attended the same high school. However, I believe that they must have been in the same higher division class. You will have to take Akashi - student body president - from my cold dead hands, okay? I'm getting an image of a seemingly well adjusted Akashi, performing admirably in his studies and constantly ending up first in their year, he is well liked by all their peers- always invited to hang out (and sometimes he even accepts), he even kindly turns down the girls who confess to him. He is for all intents and purposes the paragon of their school and there is no way someone like him would interact with Furihata beyond what is necessary- or at least thats what Furihata tells himself.
I think mr perfect over here would always send kind smiles to those he passes or when they meet gazes, so I think Akashi would catch Furihata's eye on occasion and send him a little smile and bow of his head before Furihata glances to the side, glances back, and if Akashi was still looking at him- then he would nod back. Furihata gains the reputation of being quiet and reserved with his classmates- no one is even sure if he has friends or not. But he isn't disruptive or anything, he just, keeps to himself. And it stays that way until Akashi and him are assigned to a project together. THUS cue Akashi trying to interact with Furihata and despite his unreceptiveness, Akashi learns a bit about this curious boy like the fact that he knows a fair amount about trains, he makes his own lunches, his distance doesn't come from ill intent nor the presumed shy/reserved nature everyone in class has dubbed him with but his - at times - debilitating anxiety, and that he has a perceptive eye as well. Furihata is well caught up on the classroom gossip for someone who never converses with their classmates, he is also the only one who calls Akashi out for the dark circles under his eyes.
This all culminates in Akashi thinking, 'Furihata is an intriguing individual. He is thoughtful and kind and funny, yet he declines my every attempt to become friends outside of this project.' The project ends before long and things go back to normal except when Akashi glances over to Furihata, he doesn't immediately look away. And Akashi can recognize a losing fight when he sees one, he decides to wait until the next year- their third year- in about a month to renew efforts to become friends, after all change is often incremental. However Akashi didn't expect to not see Furihata's name on their class roaster, or any class roaster for that matter. Furihata Kouki moved, and Akashi Seijuurou was the only one to care.
Skip to the present, around six to ten years later, and I will tell you- it is almost impossible to hang out with people you don't regularly see at work or school or your apartment. As an adult everyone has their own responsibilities and when you do have free time, it is often eaten up by housework or "recovery/recharging" So i'm only really seeing them running into each other if like, Akashi hears Furihata have a panic attack in the bathroom at work or if while entering his apartment he sees Furihata's crumpled form at the other end of the hallway crying into his hands.
But fuck it, I have a trope that isn't often used in fanfic so lets use it! Akashi runs into Furihata at a supermarket where Furihata is standing infront of the frozen foods crying. (also i forgot to mention it but i think it would be nice to have some parallelism of like, in high school Akashi helped Furihata once when he was in the middle of a panic attack) Akashi comforts him and when Furihata has enough awareness and realizes who is actually beside him he says, "A- Akashi-kun?" "Hello, Furihata-kun." I'm picturing Akashi assisting Furihata with the rest of his purchases, helping him take them back to his place, and coming face to face with Furihata's rude, offputting roommate. Furihata thanks him for his help but is clearly trying to get Akashi to leave as soon as possible. The following conversation happens at his doorstep:
"I had wished to exchange phone numbers in high school but your family moved before I could do so. It is one of my greatest regrets. I do not wish to make the same mistake, Furihata-kun."
"... You aren't going to leave unless I give you my phone number?"
"It sounds particularly unsavory when you say it like that. Perhaps, the promise of coffee, instead?"
"If I say yes, will you leave?"
Akashi smiles, a noncommittal answer.
"Fine. Um, next Wednesday at the cafe on 35th and Oimiwa, 2 pm."
"Excellent. I look forward to catching up with you. Farewell, Furihata-kun."
And not even ten seconds after Furihata closes the door does his "roommate" aka his life-in on and off again boyfriend have more than a few words for him. Hence begins Akashi's entanglement in Furihata's tumultuous relationship and self esteem issues causing him to believe that this toxic relationship is all that he deserves.
(btw im high keying implying that the elementary school incident has to do with bullies calling him gay and beating him up and other homophobic things, leading to him being closed off from his peers and contributing to his below sea level confidence and why he stays with someone who regularly makes him cry let alone have a melt down in the middle of a grocery store AND to be saved by his high school crush- talk about embarrassing AND THEN said man comes to his apartment looking like well a model straight from a magazine, asking for his number, making plans to meet up again- all while his toxic, emotionally abusive, and manipulative ex/boyfriend is in the same room)
Thats my take on it, and oh god, this would be a nail biter, very anxiety heavy

Notes for The Vanishing Prince: Chapter Nine
Yay, Chapter Nine is finally posted! As I mentioned over on Ao3, I’ve been looking forward to sharing this one for a loooong time. I don’t have much to share in the way of cultural notes, but I still had some pretty big things I wanted to talk about… Like info about the mental health topics from the therapy scene, plus a ton of rambling about things I’ve been researching and/or planning for a while. So if that’s something you’re interested in, well… enjoy? //laughs
As always, I updated the Pinterest inspiration board with images inspired by the new chapter. (I actually did that last month, which was when I originally intended to post the chapter before my schedule fell apart… So anyone who was checking the board during that time got an accidental sneak peak of what was coming next. Oops? ^^;) You can check the board out here.
And with that, on to the notes!
Cut for a writer babbling on and on about mental health research, references to earlier events in the series, and also violins (!!) …
Akashi’s Childhood Friendships
So the first scene of Chapter Nine features a headcanon of mine that has been popping up throughout the series… Which is that when Akashi started going to school, he attended a private elementary school that mainly catered to elite, wealthy families and their children. He was generally encouraged to spend time with his classmates, rather than seeking friends elsewhere, and he never made any close friends from a different social “class” until he started going to Teikou. (Which he joined specifically because he asked his mother if he could go somewhere that was different from his elementary school.)
As this chapter reveals, he never told his father about the friends he ended up making through basketball, because of the values he was modeled earlier in life. This was actually brought up alllll the way back in The Fast Train to Kyoto. (Though it was pretty vague!) In fact, Akashi referenced it in the very first scene:
Maybe it was the echoes of his father’s voice inside his head, just another series of frosty words he ached to forget:
“It is not for an Akashi to associate with just anyone. Your time is valuable, Seijuurou, and so is your reputation. See that you don’t waste it, on trivial pursuits, or persons unworthy of your stature.”
Akashi cringed. ‘Persons unworthy of his stature? What a ridiculous idea. Everyone he had ever known who had made his life worthwhile, had no particular wealth or rank to speak of. (With the crucial exception of his mother.) He had long ago discarded this principle of his father’s as nonsense.
I also explained the backstory with his elementary school and his struggle to make friends in a lot more detail in Chapter Three of Fast Train. (As well as why he decided to go to Teikou, and how he started making friends there, particularly Midorima.)
That aspect of his childhood turned out to be pretty important in the series, so I thought it was worth mentioning that Akashi did talk about it before… Especially since those early values still affect how he sees his friendships, plus it’s one of the reasons why he’s been trying to keep those friends as separate from his home life as possible. (Until Furihata came along and wanted to sleep over at his house, and he just couldn’t say no to his BFF, apparently? //laughs)
Attachment Theory, Disorganized Attachment, and Dissociation
So, uh… I’m not qualified to talk about any of this, like, at all. //laughs That being said, I’ll start with a big disclaimer: I am not a mental health professional, or an expert about this subject in any way whatsoever. So if anything I say doesn’t make sense or I get any of the details wrong, I sincerely apologize in advance! This is just based on the research I’ve done and some first-person accounts I’ve read over the years. As a non-expert, I find a lot of psychology theory to be difficult to research in general… Since a lot of the science is still being studied and verified, and things are becoming outdated all the time.
Okay, so with all that being said… In this chapter, Akashi’s psychiatrist brings up a theory in psychology called attachment theory. If you’d like to learn the basics of how it started, the Wikipedia article has a decent overview of the initial studies. Basically, the theory has to do with the idea that children bond with their primary caregiver (stereotypically the mother, but it doesn’t have to be) either successfully or unsuccessfully, based on how the caregiver responds to the child’s needs. A child who bonds with their caregiver in a healthy, successful way is said to be “securely” attached, while an unhealthy bond is an “insecure attachment.”
From there, it gets more complicated… There are a few different types/forms of insecure attachment, and these types can be classified in different ways, depending on the study. (There’s also something called “attachment style,” which from what I can tell is an idea inspired by attachment theory, that adults will have a general style of bonding that originates from their main caregiver bond in childhood. This idea is often used to help adults work through issues in their adult relationships.) For example, there’s generally an “anxious” form of attachment where the child is overly scared and tends to cling to their caregiver if they try to leave, out of fear that they won’t get the care they need. Then there’s an “avoidant” type where the child tends to push the caregiver away or ignore them, and can seem very apathetic and independent. (Even though they’re actually just as scared on the inside of not being cared for as an “anxious” child.)
As you can imagine, there are a lot of theories about why this happens, and what exactly in the caregiving process could contribute to it. What’s more, some children display both anxiety and avoidance… A form of this is called “disorganized attachment.” As Akashi’s psychiatrist explains, this describes a behavioral pattern where the child clings to their caregiver AND pushes them away, sometimes very close together. This style seems to often develop when the child has been through some kind of early trauma, often severe abuse or neglect. It also seems to be prevalent among people with dissociation disorders, which isn’t surprising, given the common thread of childhood trauma between the two. You can read more about that in this article here.
Actually, I first learned about disorganized attachment—and attachment in general—when I was reading a blog many years ago that was written by someone chronicling their experience with Dissociative Identity Disorder. As I researched the subject in more detail, I came across a few explanations about how children with this attachment style tend to act very confused and distressed around their caregivers, and I found the descriptions really sad… It helped me begin to better understand some of the difficulties that these children go through, and how it affects their minds when they’re still developing. It’s not hard to imagine how a child who longs to be taken care of but also has painful experiences of being denied that care (for whatever reason) can really struggle with trying to make sense of their reality and survive it on an emotional level. And that struggle causes lasting damage.
It’s important to note, though, that some psychologists will caution against assuming that a child’s attachment to their primary caregiver always dictates how they will attach to other people in their life, or in their future relationships. Also, there’s some evidence that children may struggle with attachment issues not just because of the actions of their caregiver, but also due to their own personality/ genetic predispositions. You can read more about both of these topics here.
Way back when I started planning this series, and deciding how to portray Akashi’s backstory, I found myself returning over and over to the concept of disorganized attachment… I wasn’t sure if it would make it into the fic directly, and it’s certainly not the only thing that influenced my portrayal of Akashi’s mental health. But it was definitely something I had in mind from the start, and helped shape the series, so I’m glad that I did end up referencing it in some detail.
The Akashi Family Servants
Since I just introduced the housekeeper, now seems as good a time as any to mention this… Originally, I didn’t plan for the servants who work for the Akashi family to have roles in the series at all? XD Takeda is the only one who’s mentioned in The Fast Train to Kyoto, and he doesn’t have a name. (I refer to him as either Akashi’s “driver” or “valet” depending on what he’s doing… This was actually before I’d decided that Takeda is the one who drives Akashi around when he’s in Kyoto. OTL) Then I mentioned several of the servants during Furihata’s visit in Storming the Castle… But almost no one gets a real introduction? Except for the butler, Ginhara. //laughs
One reason why I took so long to give them names/describe them is that I try to mostly stick to writing about canon characters in fics, instead of creating a ton of OCs. (I consider the families of the KnB characters to be canon, since they’re in the fanbooks. XD) But I enjoy coming up with minor characters, if it feels like a good fit for the story! Still, you can really tell that I didn’t know I would end up using these characters as much as I did, because their names are alllll over the place… Especially Takeda, which is roughly the Japanese equivalent of naming a character Mr. Smith or something? (LOL.) For a while I really regretted that I didn’t come up with a more interesting name for him, since he ended up being in this series CONSTANTLY. Also, I recently received this incredible comment on Chapter 5 of The Fast Train to Kyoto and it’s one of my all-time FAVORITES:
“Yo the drivers probs just sitting in the front like
Mmm this tea is piping hot”
(And they signed their name Yeet too, omgggg XDD)
… So yeah, I have decided this is totally Takeda’s reaction, to Akashi and Furihata’s whole “friend breakup” in the rain in the first story. //laughs
That said, I kind of love that Takeda has such a generic name now? Especially after he showed up at Seirin in sunglasses in this chapter. (Like maybe Takeda isn’t even his real name, because he actually had an exciting former life as a secret agent or something like that, and now he’s working for this super rich kid from a powerful family and maybe he’s actually hiding some epic skills so he can double as Akashi’s bodyguard if he needs to…? I DON’T KNOW, I HAVE WEIRD HEADCANONS.)
In any case, I enjoyed coming up with the characters for the Akashi family staff, even though it took a while! And I’m glad a few of them were able to play an interesting part in sneaking Akashi out of the house, so his dad wouldn’t find out about Furihata. (Though we don’t know what any of them think about that, or not yet, at least. XD) There will be at least one more member of the staff who gets an introduction, which should be coming soon. But for now, we’ve got:
Takeda, Akashi’s personal valet (and driver, sometimes)
Ginhara, the Akashi family butler and head of staff
Umagami Ichiro, Yukimaru’s groom
Inuyama, Akashi’s father’s personal valet
Hanamitsu Atsuko, housekeeper for the Akashi mansion in Tokyo
The Akashi family chef (name???)
(Plus some maids, who I also did not name)
… And as you can see, most of them still don’t have given names, even the ones with family names. That’s how disorganized I’ve been about this. //laughs
Also, I have a feeling no one was actually wondering (lol), but if you happen to remember this scene from Episode 63 in the Teikou arc in the anime:
Tumblr media
In my headcanons, this guy is the head chauffeur for the Akashi family household, and he used to drive the whole family around. (Which would mean that he was also mentioned in The Fast Train to Kyoto, in a brief flashback about Akashi and his parents! Where he’s just “the driver.” XD) Now he mostly drives Akashi’s father to work, and sometimes chauffeurs Akashi as well, when he’s in Tokyo. (Whereas Takeda drives him around in Kyoto.) I briefly referred to him as Onoda in Chapter One of The Vanishing Prince, so… I guess that’s the name I came up with for him? //laughs
TL;DR… I’ve really enjoyed writing about the various characters who work for the Akashi family, and I had way more fun including them in the story than I expected. <3 (Maybe I should give in and post character sketches for all the OCs in this series sometime… That would be a project. XD)
Beliefs About Ghosts
I might go into this more in a future chapter, but I did want to briefly discuss how Reo talks to Furihata about ghosts, and how/why they haunt certain places… There are a LOT of different beliefs all over the world about whether ghosts are real, and why they appear. There are also lots of theories about whether they need the help of living humans to pass on or not.
For this fic, I tried to include some of the most common beliefs in Reo’s response, including the “revenge” ghost stories that are super common in Japanese folklore. But it’s not a comprehensive explanation by any means, and there are a lot of people who believe in ghosts and spirits but wouldn’t agree with the ideas Reo mentioned. (Basically, I had to pick among a bunch of different supernatural ideas about ghosts for the fic, and these are some of the ones I chose to include? But that’s not to say that they’re representative of my own beliefs, or of every Japanese person who believes in ghosts, either!)
The Akashi Family Curse (…?)
So I know some readers have been discussing this and making predictions about it in the comments for a while now… And while I don’t want to spoil anything about where the story is going, I’m really excited that I finally got to reveal another piece of the legend/rumors about the Akashi family curse:
Furihata’s mouth dropped open. It never occurred to him that some people might still think that the Akashis were cursed, centuries later. Or that these rumors were somehow connected to their catlike eyes. Was that maybe even how the peasants in the legend came up with the curse in the first place? Were they just creeped out, by this super-rare genetic thing that ran in the family?
Or… could it be true? Could the Akashi family really be cursed?
I can’t remember if anyone specifically connected the dots about the legend being connected to the “catlike” eyes or not… But if you saw this coming, YES YOU WERE TOTALLY RIGHT AND I AM IMPRESSED. <333
As for what the legend/rumors say about how the curse works, and whether or not it’s actually real… I guess I shouldn’t go into that just yet, for the sake of spoilers. XD But hopefully you can have fun guessing for now! And I’m glad I can finally point to the connection between the idea of a family curse and the “catlike eyes” to explain why I kept including so many passages like this one:
He and Akashi were walking through another long passageway. This one was lined with life-sized portraits—and oddly enough, Furihata recognized some of the faces. He had seen them in paintings in the Tokyo house.
“Are these your relatives?” he asked. They didn’t resemble Akashi very much. But a few did have the same unusual, catlike pupils.
Akashi nodded, as he glanced up at the huge frames. “They led the family, several generations ago. This one was my great-great-great-great-great grandfather.”
He gestured to the largest painting. The steel-haired man in the portrait wore a piercing frown. Even his posture was severe, somehow.
… Yeah, there are a BUNCH of descriptions in A Spark of Light of portraits of Akashi’s relatives, and how some of them have the same eyes as him. Also, as I’m sure a lot of people noticed, I mention Akashi’s eyes A LOT throughout the series. And this is one of the reasons why I wanted to emphasize it so much. XD
(Well, okay and also like a lot of fic writers, I enjoy pretty descriptions about eyes. XD BUT I WOULD’VE TRIED TO CUT MORE OF THEM IF IT WASN’T SUCH AN IMPORTANT PLOT POINT… Or so I’ll claim, anyway. //laughs)
And Finally… THE VIOLIN
Ahhh I’m so happy I finally got to post this scene! I’ve been saving the moment of Akashi playing his violin for Furihata for a loooong time… I foreshadowed it briefly back in Storming the Castle, when Furihata notices Akashi’s violin case sitting in his study. But I got the idea for this scene even earlier… All the way back when I drafted that part in The Fast Train to Kyoto, where Akashi plays his violin after he writes to Furihata to tell him they can’t be friends. (YES. IT HAS BEEN THAT LONG.)
So, yeah… I had no idea know how long it would take to get there, but I definitely knew that Akashi would have to play his violin for Furihata at some point. And I wanted it to be a Really Big Moment in their romantic arc. So I did the best I could with it. (Because, I mean… How could I NOT include a scene where Akashi plays the violin for Furihata? That just had to happen, come on. //laughs)
As I mentioned over on Ao3, I do have my own idea about which piece Akashi plays for Furi… I might even mention it directly in the next chapter, but I’m not sure yet? (Either way, if you have a piece that you’d like to imagine him playing instead, you have my blessing. xD I tried to write it in such a way that he could be playing a lot of different songs!) So here was my thought process on that…
I figured Akashi would probably decide to play something on the simple side for Furihata, rather than anything too technical/demanding on the ear. I also realized that he was probably thinking that Furihata would like a sweet, romantic sort of song, because of this scene from Storming the Castle:
“Oh, r-right.” Furihata let go of the flower. He managed a laugh. “Sorry. I’m being weird, huh?”
“I just never realized you had such an interest in roses,” Akashi said, with a hint of humor. “But it shouldn’t surprise me, really.”
Furihata didn’t follow. “Why’s that?”
The edge of Akashi’s mouth dimpled. “Well, you are a romantic, after all.”
And that was when I realized… ROSES. Like, what if the piece had to do with roses, because Akashi was remembering that conversation about Furihata’s romantic side that they had in his rose garden…? So in my head, Akashi plays a version of The Last Rose of Summer, which is this really sweet, old Irish song that was later set to a poem of that name, written by Thomas Moore. It’s an easier piece to play, so it’s a little difficult to find a nice version of it by a professional violinist. But I did find this arrangement that is SUPER old-fashioned and adorable:
And my personal favorite version with strings that I found (and linked first on Ao3) is probably this one. Though I believe the violin doesn’t start until around a minute and a half into the recording?
(My sister and I thought the first soloist *might* be a viola… Apologies if we’re wrong though!! We took band a thousand years ago in high school but didn’t play in an orchestra, so we’re basically clueless about anything with strings. XD)
Anyway, I just thought that the song would be fitting because of the whole “bonding over roses” connection to Storming the Castle, and the fact that they’re still on summer vacation in this story… Plus the words of the poem are kind of the most Oreshi thing I’ve ever heard??? It’s REALLY sad, but also all about friendship. You can hear how it’s sung and see the complete lyrics in this version by Charlotte Church if you’d like (again, the song starts at around 1:30), but I’ll also include the beginning and end of the poem here:
Tis the last rose of summer,
Left blooming alone,
All her lovely companions
Are faded and gone.
So soon may I follow
When friendships decay;
And from love's shining circle
The gems drop away
When true hearts lie wither'd
And fond ones are flow'n
Oh! Who would inhabit
This bleak world alone?
… TELL ME THAT’S NOT AN ORESHI KIND OF POEM. It’s all about friendship and being afraid of being alone, and I just… gahhhh. T_____T
Also, you might have noticed that the versions I linked don’t have any parts where the soloist plucks the violin strings, which I described Akashi doing at one point… That’s because I like to think that in between playing a simpler version, Akashi also slips into a few sections of Variations on the Last Rose of Summer by Ernst, which you can see the violinist Midori playing here. (Unlike the other versions I linked, this is one of the hardest pieces ever written for violin, period… Apparently it’s so difficult that many top-tier professionals won’t even play it in front of a crowd! So for those of you who want to picture him playing something more badass, I’ve got you covered. XD)
(And while we’re still on the subject of different versions… My all-time favorite when it comes to different instruments playing The Last Rose of Summer has got to be this one. BECAUSE IT’S A KOTO, LIKE OMGGGG YES. Honestly, if my series had a sound, I’d like to think that it would be this…? Because roses and traditional Japanese instruments, that’s why. //laughs)
Also, I’m not sure whether anyone was curious about this part of the scene:
Akashi chuckled as he unlatched the case. Resting on a bed of crimson silk was a delicately carved violin. Furihata didn’t know how to tell if an instrument was well made, but he was pretty sure that this one had to be.
So I do indeed headcanon that Akashi would have a really nice violin… For those who might not know, violins can be EXTREMELY expensive, most notably at the professional and soloist quality levels. As in, the famous Stradivarius violins are valued at $10 million or MORE, for example. XD Though I personally tend to think that Akashi probably wouldn’t play a Strad himself… He’d have too much reverence for the instrument for that. //laughs (Although I wouldn’t be surprised if his family owns a Stradivarius and lends it out to some world-famous soloist… Which is apparently how it works in real life, by the way!) But I still imagine that his violin would be a super fancy one, maybe somewhere in the $100k range or something? (And now I’m just imagining Furihata finding that out and freaking out, lol.)
And last but not least, since I’m already rambling a lot, I would like to credit a new favorite YouTube channel of mine that I discovered while writing the violin scene… I really wanted to make sure that I described the violin playing correctly, because like I mentioned, I understand nothing about stringed instruments whatsoever. (I was a very mediocre flute player, once upon a time. //laughs)
So while I was hunting for references, I stumbled across TwoSet Violin, and OMG THEY ARE THE COOLEST CHANNEL EVER. I’d recommend them to literally everyone, even if you don’t play the violin or have any interest in classical music! They’re two professional violinists from Australia who make tons of super-entertaining content, like analyzing the way actors pretend to play instruments in movies and Chinese dramas, or trying to play the cheapest violin they can buy on Amazon. And it’s FANTASTIC. XD They’re super skilled and funny, and they even inspired me to listen to classical music again, so yeah, I can’t recommend them enough. <3
Well, this post turned out a lot longer than I expected…? //laughs In any case, I hope it was interesting, and thank you for reading! And as I said over on Ao3, thank you again to all of my lovely readers for your patience, especially while I dealt with my grandmother’s passing. I have the next chapter of the fic drafted, just like last time, but it does have some issues so I’m not sure how long it will take to edit. (Hopefully less time than this one did. OTL) I’ll definitely do my best to post it as soon as I can. In the meantime, I really hope everyone is staying safe, and see you then!

Kurobas Vday Challenge  Day 4 - Akafuri
Hey hey hey! Happy Valetine’s Day everyone! So as today is the official day I had to write about my favourite pairing in Kurobas, Akafuri! I just love them so much **-**
---
“I just wish you were here.”
Furihata sighed. He knew these phone calls were never easy, but he did not expect Akashi to say such a thing so soon. Sure, whenever they called each other at some point in the conversation the issue of their long-distance relationship always appeared. But it was weird for his boyfriend to be the one who mentioned it just after picking up the phone. Especially when his voice sounded so weird.
“Is everything all right?” asked Furihata.
“You aren’t by my side,” complained Akashi at the other side of the line. “That is never right.”
“Yeah…,” what was that slurred speech? “Sei… are you drunk?”
The giggle that answered his question confirmed his fears. Furihata cursed under his breath while thinking a reason why his boyfriend is drunk on a Thursday when he knows for sure Rakuzan has an intensive training tomorrow. Mibuchi Reo might not be on the team anymore now but that does not mean she does not inform him of every schedule they had (it all started as a way of making sure Akashi rested but then it kind of became a habit none of them wanted to drop).
“Is there anyone with you? Where are you?” maybe he could call someone to check on him.
“Kouki, you’re so cute when you are worried,” laughed Akashi.
“Sei, just answer me.”
“Mmm, I… I think I’m in my house?” he could hear some rustling. “Yeah, definitely my room, I don’t know of anyone else who has a huge photograph of you hanged on the wall.”
“You have what?”
“You look so good, I kind of want to kiss it.”
“Sei, don’t kiss the picture just listen to me.”
“But I miss you,” Furihata Kouki never thought there would be a day in which he heard Akashi Seijuurou whine. “We have been together for almost three years and still you are so far away from me. I just want this semester to finish so we can finally look at colleges together.”
The words softened his heart a little. Though he was still deeply concerned for him, Furihata understood what Akashi was talking about. Their relationship had been so rocky at the beginning with barely any time to see each other. Over the months they found their balance, but it was never enough for both of them. However, they had hopes in their university future. Getting on the same university as Akashi seemed impossible for Furihata, mostly because they wanted to major in different things. An also the issue of an Akashi going to the best university according to Akashi Masaomi. His boyfriend, being the sweet thing he was, still believed Furihata had chances to enter the prestigious college his father had chosen for him. But he was more realistic, so he decided to focus on other places that were near and still accessible for someone like him. With that solved, they only had to wait until the last semester finished and they would be together. Or at least closer than they were now.
“Is that why you drank?” Maybe the wait was being too much for Akashi, but it still did not sound like a problem that made him drink. So, there must be another reason for his behaviour.
“No… well, yes, but I don’t want to talk about that,” grumbled Akashi. “What are you wearing?”
“I’m not going to have phone sex with you while drunk.”
“What about real sex? I could pick a plane and…”
“Akashi Seijuurou,” Furihata pronounced his name dragging each letter. “Talk, now.”
And even in his drunken state Akashi was not stupid enough as to contradict his boyfriend. It was funny how most people thought he was the scariest one of the couple. Those foolish people surely had never seen the wrath of Furihata Kouki.
“My father knows,” his voice cracked. “I… I knew he wasn’t going to take it well but I just… I don’t know what he is going to say so…”
His anger disappeared in a second as he heard the voice of his boyfriend trembling while relating the fight with his father. Furihata has always dreaded the day Akashi Masaomi knew his son was not dating any rich personality. And the worst of it was that Masaomi was not even against Akashi being gay, the company even had some adverts about their support to the LGBT+ community. No, the problem was the status Furihata had as an ordinary student. He was never going to be enough for his son and he knew it from the first moment he met Masaomi. At that moment he had been introduced as a friend but Furihata had always suspected the CEO already knew about his connection with Akashi.
“Listen, Sei, everything is going to be alright,” whispered Furihata at the phone. “I’m going to take a train now, okay? I will be there in a few hours and we will figure it out.”
“I’m not going to let him get between us,” there was a threat hanging on those words that made Furihata worry.
“Promise me you’re not going to do anything rash, Sei,” he asked. “We still don’t know his decision so just wait there and I will come to you.”
“Thanks, Kouki, you’re always there when I need you.”
“Sleep, then. When you wake up, I will be there, and you won’t have to miss me anymore.”
“I always miss you, love,” Akashi closed his eyes with a smile on his face hoping the next time he opened a sight of brown eyes would welcome him.
