Hey, I'd just like to say that I appreciate you. I've always heard stories about people coming to the Church because they believed it in their hearts to be true but you seem to exuburate that energy through the screen. I know you're trying and I know you believe in the Gospel and its teachings. I, myself, have slightly strayed but seeing people like you who find their way to the church from a different path, who somehow find a way to grip to the iron rod... Is inspiring. Thank you.
Wow, thank you so much! Messages like these always continue to motivate me to keep on going. We’re all in this together and I only want others to feel the Love that I’ve felt. Praying for you on your journey! xx

☪️ ------ Of all the unlikely invitations, the good DJ was blessed with one, much to her family's chagrin. The hospital itself, of course, was less willing to provide their patient with such an exuburant request, but money mellowed many out. He'd be under surveillance, but that much was enough for the girl enveloped in bandages and a gown ( that was much too big for her ).
Tumblr media
She hadn't left the hospital ( and really, her room ) since the incident. Despite being reassured that there was nothing of value to be explored ( apparently, they defined the new Square's growth and development as mediocre! ), she desired to hear of the news from a much more trustworthy sort. Supposedly, there was something to do with Callie, but she'd been told it wasn't much of her business. No more thought would come of it --- she'd been much more preoccupied with recovery.
So when he, clad in purple, arrived, she urged herself forth, though a hiss of pain would escape gritted teeth. Soiled was her torso where the gauze primarily lie, for movement agitated it with ease.
But in order for her to speak, she needed to be upright --- her voice, absent as it was, held no words. Her hands became the focus.
❛ Tavi... it's really nice to see you. ❜

The Cure for Mistletoe Fever
Fandom:  Star Trek (AOS/TOS) Pairing: No real pairing, but there’s kisses throughout Word Count: 1388 Warnings: Nothing, just kisses Rating: PG? Tags: @outside-the-government Author’s note: This was really fun to write, hope you enjoy! If you feel like you’ve read this before, you probably have!  I just moved my blog to a new account, so please feel free to re-like and re-follow, as I will soon be deleting the old blog! <3
It was nearly Christmas on the Starship Enterprise, and the holiday spirit had spread through the ship like wildfire since the decorations had gone up.  Crewmates hummed or sang carols under their breath as they walked around the ship or worked on their assignments, and a number of covert kisses had been had in the few places where mistletoe hung.
One crew member in particular was taking great advantage of these free kisses.  He had been practicing walking through the archway at the same time as someone else and pretending to be surprised to see mistletoe above them, then insisting they have a little kiss for holiday tradition, and so far, he hadn’t been rejected. He smiled to himself as he waited for his next kissee, praising himself internally for a flirting job well done.
——-
Bones was busy in the med bay, as usual.  Though some of the Christmas mood around the ship had soaked into him, he was mostly his usual self.  He sighed as he dodged a couple of female officers who were walking past him, talking to each other and giggling.  He caught a few words of their conversation and gathered that they’d been caught under the mistletoe by some handsome young officer.   Rolling his eyes, he got back to work, shaking his head.   He had a vague sense of yearning for the carefree days of Christmases years ago, but he shook himself:  he had work to do. Over the course of the day, he ran into several other young lady officers who seemed flustered and mostly pleased, and he gathered that they, too, had been cavorting under the mistletoe.  From what he overheard, he figured it was the same young man that had kissed all these ladies and sighed, wondering how long this was going to go on.  He figured as long as it wasn’t hurting anyone, it was okay, but if this continued, he thought that he may have to speak to Jim about one of his young officers being a little too friendly.
The next day, Christmas Eve, was just as busy as ever.  Bones was elbow deep in bandages after an accident in Engineering, carefully patching up the crewmate after they had suffered multiple burns and a few deep lacerations from some piece of machinery malfunctioning and causing a small explosion.   He was mostly deep in concentration on mending the officer’s burns, when he realized the nurses attending him were muttering to each other, and they sounded annoyed. “Anything wrong, ladies?” Bones asked them, quirking an eyebrow as he set aside some extra gauze. He worked with both of these nurses regularly, and they were rarely unhappy;  he knew something must be up.
“Oh, nothing,” one of them began, but the other cut across her.
“Actually, we were wondering if maybe you could talk to the Captain for us,” she said, looking both irritated and slightly amused.  She explained how a particular young male officer had been patrolling each of the mistletoe areas regularly, attempting to get kisses out of every female officer who happened to wander by.  It had been funny at first but now it was getting annoying, but most of the women didn’t have the heart to tell him off.  Bones shook his head with a sigh as he listened, torn between amusement and wanting to smack the young officer.
“I don’t want to get him in trouble,” she concluded, “but it’s really getting irritating.”
Bones nodded in agreement, thinking on what he could do that wouldn’t involve actual disciplinary action.  The kid was clearly crossing a line, but Leonard was sure he didn’t mean any harm;  he was just being a little overenthusiastic.  An idea suddenly burst into his mind, and he nearly laughed at the look that was sure to cross the officer’s face if he put his plan into action.
“Listen, don’t worry about it.  I’ll take care of it without ever having to talk to Jim,” Bones told them, a confident smirk on his face.   They thanked him, and then the three finished up with the patient they were working on. “I promise, he won’t be there when you walk by in an hour or so,” Leonard told them, disposing of his gloves in the hazardous waste.  “You mark my words.”
It was his break time now, so Leonard left the med bay and began to look for the areas where mistletoe had been hung.   He hadn’t really been paying attention to particular decorations, so it took him a few minutes of wandering.   Sure enough though, at the third archway where he found mistletoe, he could see the officer on the other side of the doorway, pretending to be engrossed in his tablet.  Leonard guessed he was really listening for footsteps, preparing himself to accost another young lady. Bones smirked and began walking towards the doorway, trying to be lighter on his feet so as to trick the young man.   It seemed to work;  as the doctor neared the doorway, the officer began walking towards the arch, his eyes still on his tablet.  Bones made no attempt to stop as they neared each other, and their arms collided as they passed under the arch.   Bones watched in amusement as the officer looked up in pretend surprise, his expression wilting slightly when he saw who it was. “Mr. Chekov,” Bones drawled, his voice casual. “What a surprise to see you here.” “Ah, Dr. McCoy,” Chekov said, his voice a little nervous.  “Good to see you, sir. I, ah—I should be going, I have a lot of work to do!”
“Oh, come now, Mr. Chekov,” Leonard said, his voice light, and he reached out with an arm, preventing the officer from leaving.  “Word has it that you’ve been quite the regular to this spot, and others nearby.”
“I-, uh-” Chekov flushed slightly, realizing he’d been caught for his somewhat exaggerated flirting. “Yes, I’ve heard tell from several female officers of your kissing prowess,” Bones continued, biting back a laugh at the confused but slightly proud look on Chekov’s face at this comment.
“I, well-“ Chekov began, but Bones held up a hand, stopping his speech. “I haven’t heard from any male officers, though,” Bones continued thoughtfully, and Chekov’s eyes widened slightly.  “Why’s that, Mr. Chekov?” “Ah, well-” Chekov said, flustered. “I-”
“You only like the ladies?” Bones interrupted, and Chekov nodded, relieved to have the answer supplied for him.   “Thing is, Lieutenant,” Leonard continued, “mistletoe doesn’t discriminate between sexes, genders or even species.  I’m pretty sure the rule is that you kiss whomever you happen to end up with underneath it.”   Leonard slowly and pointedly looked up at the mistletoe, which was hanging exactly centered over where they were standing in the arch. Comprehension filled Chekov’s face and his eyes widened as Leonard reached towards him, took his face in both of his hands and leaned down to kiss him.  Their lips met, and Leonard could feel the alarm in the younger officer’s posture. Bones was merciful, though, and only kissed him for a brief moment, pulling away and dropping his hands, taking in the wide-eyed, shocked look on Chekov’s face. “Not so fun to be kissed when you don’t really want to, is it, Mr. Chekov?”  Bones asked quietly, smiling down at the younger man.
“No sir,” Chekov agreed, his voice a little shaky. “Your point has been well demonstrated, Doctor, I understand I was, ah, being a little too forward,” he said, hanging his head a little.
“Good man,” Bones said, clapping Chekov on the shoulder.  “Knew you had it in you.   I won’t hear of you pestering the ladies for kisses from now on?”
“No sir, of course not,” Chekov said, smiling sheepishly.  Bones winked at him, and was about to walk away, when Chekov spoke again.   “You will not tell the Captain about this, will you?”
“Nah,” Bones smiled slightly at him. “A lapse of judgement, youthful exuburance… I think the Captain’s got better things to worry about, don’t you, Mr. Chekov?”
Chekov smiled and nodded, and Bones turned and walked away without another word.  He heard the younger officer scurrying away from the scene, presumably to actually go and get some work done, and he chuckled to himself for resolving the situation in such a creative way.

Unpopular kin opinion but identifying as ‘kin can and is damaging for many people. It’s something to isolate yourself with, become obessed with. It can easily be used to exuburate self-hate and dysphoria, and it keeps many people trapped in a “safe space” and unable to explore their “real” issues (and therefor address them).
HOWEVER, on the flip side, it is EXTREMELY beneficial for many people as well. It can help people find community, become at peace and connect with themselves, help people come out of their shells and inspire them to address issues.
And I do believe most people fall somewhere inbetween, so it’s important to self-anaylze the pros-and-cons of your ‘kin and/or alterhuman identity.
I know it is something many people, like myself, feel like they didn’t choose. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t think about the downsides of the label and community. Not every part of being otherkin/alterhuman is positive, and that needs to be reflected on.
I see this especially among fictionkin, because like it or not we do choose this label (in a sense), and it can very easily become a destructive thing. There is no way to “connect” to being fictionkin, its different from being a therian in that regard. it can make your ego feel good because you can tell yourself you’re “actually” a cool person, but that isn’t reality. Like LISTEN - I’m one of those freaks that is 100% convinced I’m an anime character - and even IF I can’t shake that idea I still work on admitting that it is vital I address the negatives of being ‘kin.

So, let me tell you about a girl I know named Tara A___. Even her name sounds like a character from a story, and honestly she herself really seems like one. Tara... is different. And confusing. So very confusing.
I met her at one of my brother’ little league football games. She was there with her aunt who works with my mother. I noticed her and aid hi or whatever, but that was it because my friend, S_____ (who is incredibly important to me, as you will progressively come to see) was also there but was not feeling good at all because she was sick and had taken medicine that made her incredibly drowsy so I was worrying about her that she wouldn’t fall or anything.
Anyway, eventually I had to keep kept getting sent to the concession stands for different reasons and I kept having to walk past Tara whenever I did it. I noticed really fast that she was beautiful. Like, not even in a really romantic way because I don’t like the girl in that way, although I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t interested in her at all. She just seemed to have some kind of odd, warm exuburance about her. It drove me crazy! I had to keep looking at her because I felt like there was something about her I needed to know or see or something.
She looked different than most other girls I’ve met before. Not that she was prettier than them because not to put her down or anything but I’ve met tons of girls more “attractive” than her. I put “attractive in quotations because it was her appearance that attracted me to her and it was an incredibly strong pull, I guess that technically makes her one of the most attractive girls I ever met. It was so weird, she like represented this powerful duality to me that only seems to be present in art. This will sound so creepy, but this is a journal I’m supposed to write my truest thoughts in, so I apologize for nothing; even though she was just sitting there in the bleachers, it was as if she had the gracefulness, elegance, and poise of a fucking goddess, yet her expression and air of calm around her was like a humble stream of slowly flowing water. So great, yet so simple.
