This year I bring January Jubilation and @masseffectholidaycheer to @pioneer-over-c! They said this scene was their favourite interaction between Shepard and Kaidan (sure, it's the same for all LIs but it just works so well for renegade leaning Shenko) and SAME so I knew I had to draw it.

Looking for a fic!

So, a few months back I was reading a really good multichapter fic retelling the trilogy story. It was with a colonist, sole survivor, mainly paragon f!shepard with biotics (can’t remember the right class) who romanced Kaidan and it was gorgeous but it was 4am and I’m a dumdum and I forgot to save it so I never went back to finish reading it but I was looking forward actually finish it. It was on AO3 and I only read up until the first half of me1 so I don’t even remember if it was finished or not but I checked the shenko tag on the site and I couldn’t find it and I don’t remember the title so I can’t look it up by that.

Does anyone know what I’m talking about or was it a fever dream?

Can anyone help me find it?

Brain empty. Only thinking about biotic Shepard trying to comfort Kaidan during a migraine and how she would get it because I feel like L3s would still get them, just maybe not as often? And they're presumably the only 2 Human biotics on the whole ship. And they'd bond over this side effect from their implants and I just love Shepard & Kaidan okay.

Send me a 🤣 for a random funny scene from one of my works.

I don't do a lot of humorous scenes - mostly because my own personal humor is very dry and sarcastic, and it doesn't really come across as very funny to anyone else. But I did do one story that I thought was funny - here's the funniest snippet from it.

Under the cut for length and very mild language:

"I didn't pinch you," he repeated simply, folding his hands in his lap and meeting her eyes with a calm smile. "I'm glad you had fun last night, though, Shepard. You needed a chance to unwind, and I think that 'girls' night out' was just the thing. I imagine it was good hooking up with Jack again, hey?" She eyed him narrowly, disconcerted by the emphasis he placed on the biotic's name. He met her gaze with his own, his expression so bland that she felt her eyebrows drawing together in a frown.

"What are you on abo- oh. Oh no." Sheer panic flowed through her voice as she scrambled out of the sheets, shoving him from the bed in her haste to gain her feet. Stumbling at the sudden disorientation of being upright, she grabbed at his arm to keep her balance until her head stopped spinning – or rather, decided to spin in only one direction rather than three. Once she was reasonably capable of movement, she made a staggering dash to the bathroom. "Oh my FUCKING GOD!"

Standing naked by the bed, Kaidan tucked his hands behind his back and rocked on his heels, grinning broadly as he watched her shadow in the bathroom, easily able to picture what she was doing from its frantic movements. "Something wrong, Shepard?" he asked cheekily, and was rewarded with a view of her middle finger. "You just said you didn't want to do that."

"What the fuck is this? Lips? RED lips? Why did you let her do this to me, Alenko?" Tucking his tongue in his cheek, he mulled over his options, then sauntered towards the bathroom, careful to keep himself – and the more tender parts of his anatomy – out of her immediate reach. "Shit, shit, shit," he heard her muttering as he approached. "I sure hope Chakwas knows how to remove this crap. Oh man, oh man, who knows?"

Running his tongue over his teeth, Kaidan leaned to the side to catch a glimpse of his lover standing with her back to the bathroom mirror, legs splayed and one hand braced against the wall above the toilet as she stared down the line of her back. He knew exactly what she was seeing in the mirror – from his vantage, he had all too good a view. "I don't know, Shepard. I think it makes a statement."

"Alenko, kiss my ass."

"That would be the one. At least now, I know exactly where to do it."

When she flipped him off again, he decided it was as good a time as any to take her suggestions to heart – starting with one, and finishing with the other.

CITADEL - ORDERS TO RESUPPLY, REPAIR AND RELAX - PART THREE

Flux nightclub, Citadel

AMARA

I have had enough drinks to dance. I have had enough drinks to dance badly and blame it on the drink. I have never been able to dance alone. I need a lead, someone to guide me through the beat. Silly really, but the only dance I have ever been good at is the one on the battlefield. 

Breathe. Aim. Shoot.

On the dance floor there were steps and turns and…it just didn’t feel right. The giggles and smiles came almost instantly. Well, we are bonding as a crew, right? I was making a fool of myself willingly, something that would endear me to them as well as just release some of the anger I had lingering from earlier. The rest of the anger melted away when a hand took hers and pulled her close. It took her a moment, but her smile slipped and danced across her lips as she came face to face with Kaidan. 

“Kay..” she whispered, hoping no one could hear her over the music and din of the club. 

Kaiden smiled in return, the dimple she remembered from his youth emerged and she tilted her head as he began to lead her in a dance that matched the music. She was grateful, and nodded before he let go of her for a moment and spun her away from him. 

Amara caught the look in Jokers face as he watched from the table. She knew he had an inkling of what was possibly happening between Kaidan and herself. He had been watching them together since the launch party. They were a puzzle that needed to be solved. She had wanted to talk to him about it, even headed to the bridge a few times to do so - but how do you talk to your pilot about your childhood friend?

With that thought, Kaidan tugged her back to him and continued the dance. Some of the crew had partnered off and started to dance themselves. It seemed that they had started a trend. 

“Mar.”

Her eyes met Kaidan’s instantly. In that moment the club, the crew and the music faded into the background. It was just them, dancing. Moving together perfectly in step. It was a battlefield of sorts for her. She fought with every breath to hide her feelings. Her heart slammed in her chest, threatening to break her ribs, but she forced herself to keep breathing. 

Kaidan pulled her close, pressing her against him and holding her there as they started to slow down. The music had changed. Someone had requested a slow song. A slow love song. 

Shit.

“Commander?”

“Sorry, Kay…Lieutenant.” She closed her eyes and stopped moving. When she opened them, Kaidan had shifted closer, concern in his eyes. “I…should head back to the ship. The lights are…headache.”

Kaidan nodded, the look from the other night repeated again, though this time there was also a hunger in them. 

He didn’t want to stop. 

Then again, neither did she. 

Within minutes, she was in an elevator, alone. The music was nothing like the slow music she had left behind her. It did nothing to calm her heart. It did not soothe her mind. She could still feel his touch on her hips and waist from dancing. She could still smell his cologne, as it hung off of her, keeping her safe, even now. The heat of his touch bled from her as she walked to the dock, finally leaving her cold when she bored the Normandy. By the time she entered her quarters - she felt as though she was made of ice. 

KAIDAN

Just like that, she was gone. He stood in the middle of the floor and watched her leave. He didn’t try to stop her, or say anything. She was still his CO. She was still his Amara. He was still standing in the middle of the dance floor alone. 

“LT?”

“Kaidan?”

“Alenko?”

Ashley, Garrus and Joker stood next to him, partners and dancing forgotten. Concern and worry marred their expressions as they watched him. They spoke, but he couldn’t understand. He had lost contact with Amara so abruptly that he was still reeling. She had felt so right in his arms, so perfect. This wasn’t just some passing fancy or a crush. There was something there between them. Something that he wanted to be real. 

“What did you say, LT, she almost ran out of-”

“Headache.” It was what she had said, but it tasted like a lie. 

“I- See.” Ashley lowered her voice, “Why are you still here then?” If she had been any further from him, he may not have heard her, but he did hear her. 

Why are you standing here, Alenko? Why are you not with her? Follow her, Idiot.

“I need a drink.” Kaidan finally said, moving in the opposite direction, and towards the bar. 

Just a drink. A drink to think about what to do. A drink to forget.

End

So...that happened. More to come. Yeah I know...I am drawing it out. There are issues and regs and stuff....right?

Kaidan's words wracked at her brain, repeating syllables and sneers. An endless loop that had her chest aching.

Andy watched him walk away from her on Horizon, if she thought hard enough arms wrapped around her waist while breath tickled her neck. She tried not to recall what happened after.

"Shepard."

"Huh?" She turned to Garrus with hollowed eyes, his mandibles twitched.

"I asked if you'd slept yet but I got my answer."

He took the seat next to her, chair scraping at metal floors and she almost wished she could go back two years to fighting Sovereign. Ilos felt so far away.

"Are the guns finally calibrated to your liking?" Andy tried a quip but she couldn't tell a smile from scorn with the turian.

"Last anyone saw you around the ship, you were drunk and Miranda found you sobbing in the bathrooms." She couldn't help the grimace spread across her features.

"That was this morning, I'm a changed woman now."

"That was yesterday morning, Andrea."

"God, please don't call me that."

"Joker said to, apparently it's a universal fear to be called your full name - but that's not why I'm here."

He shook his head. Shepard was sure if he were human he'd be pinching the bridge of his nose out of frustration. She knew she wasn't easy.

But that didn't stop Kaidan, didn't stop him from leaving. She was the one that left, she couldn't blame him.

"Y'know," a swig from the glass and a grumble from the turian next to her. "If Cerberus just left me dead-"

"Andy don't-

"It's true though, and you know it." Tears welled at her eyes at the thoughts that wouldn't leave.

"If Cerberus just left me where ever the hell I was, it'd all be better. Because Kaidan could've moved on; you, Tali- everyone could've just moved on. I'm sure someone would have found a fresh new, doe-eyed recruit without all the baggage."

"Andy-"

"No - you wanted me to talk? I'm talking. I died, and God I wish I'd stayed that way."

He didn't say anything, eyes avoiding hers. She felt the rage staining her cheeks, grip on the glass almost shattering it. 'Shepard's Legacy' almost seemed laughable at this point- what good could she possibly have left?

Still silent, Garrus turned over a glass and unscrewed a lid. Andy watched the liquid pour with blurred vision.

"Let's talk."
