Murrow Public High School in Brooklyn Photo: AP Images FacebookPinterest The March for Our Lives will take place on March 24 in cities around the world, scarcely a month after the attack at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School by gunman Nikolas Cruz in Parkland, Florida, left 17 people dead. Almost immediately after the incident, the teenage survivors of the tragedy mobilized, first by striking out at detractors on social media and calling for action from politicians. They quickly emerged as leaders of a new set of voices in the movement to change America’s gun laws, representing those who had spent their entire young lives under the shadow of their country’s mass shooting problem and have had enough. The Parkland teens didn’t stop there—they faced down their representatives at the Florida State House and NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch in a CNN town hall meeting. The most moving part of their activism might be their solidarity with young people and gun violence survivors around the country, including the victims of gang violence, police brutality, and domestic violence. One month after the shooting, thousands of students across the U.S. participated in a National School Walkout to honor the Parkland victims and demand stricter gun control. Participants left their classrooms to stand outside for 17 minutes (for the 17 lives lost in the shooting), and many stood in front of the United States Capitol “to demand Congress pass legislation to keep us safe from gun violence at our schools, on our streets, and in our homes and places of worship.” With the buildup from these preceding events—which have galvanized public participation in a way almost unprecedented since the Women’s March of January 2017—the March for Our Lives will further raise national attention on gun control issues and, according to the website, “demand that their lives and safety become a priority, and that we end gun violence in our schools and communities.” Find everything you need to know about the March for Our Lives, and how to participate, below: Where and when is the March for Our Lives? Marches are taking place in hundreds of cities around the world, but the main March for Our Lives will occur on March 24 in Washington, D.C., at noon. Marchers are meeting at Pennsylvania Avenue Northwest and 12th Street Northwest, walking down Pennsylvania Avenue to 3rd Street Northwest. More information and a map can be found here. In Washington, none of the featured speakers at the rally will be over 18. According to The Washington Post, a main stage near Pennsylvania Avenue and Third Street Northwest will feature speeches from school shooting victims, D.C. students, and activists. Musical performances (by artists including Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Common, Miley Cyrus, and Demi Lovato) will be broadcast on 20 jumbotrons along Pennsylvania Avenue. Lin Manuel-Miranda and Ben Platt are also expected to attend. In the days before the DC march, Parkland student survivors met with students at local Thurgood Marshall Academy in Southeast Washington to bridge the gap between their experiences with gun violence and express solidarity. Parkland students Alfonso Calderon, David Hogg, Cameron Kasky and Alex Wind took turns with Marshall students at the rally. “We’ve seen again and again the media focus on school shootings and oftentimes be biased toward white-privileged students,” Hogg said. “Many of these communities are disproportionately affected by gun violence, but they don’t get the same media attention that we do.” What should I bring with me? Comfortable shoes and loose fitting light layers, and wearable, foldable, and rollable banners and signs (extra points for creativity!). Items that are not allowed: aerosols, non service/guide animals, backpacks and bags bigger than 18" by 13" by 7", bicycles, balloons, coolers, drones, explosives, firearms, glass, thermal or metal containers, laser pointers, mace, pepper spray, packages, selfie sticks, structures, supports for signs and placards, toy guns, explosives, or weapons of any kind. Who is leading the March for Our Lives? The March for Our Lives is “for kids and by kids,” according to the organization’s website. Parkland teens who have emerged as frequent voices on social media include Emma González, Cameron Kasky, Delaney Tarr, Sarah Chadwick, and many, many more. Who is partnering with the March for Our Lives? Organizers have received $500,000 donations from George and Amal Clooney, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw, studio chief Jeffrey Katzenberg, Gucci, and Oprah Winfrey. Sibling marches are being coordinated with support from Everytown for Gun Safety and Giffords Courage to Fight Gun Violence. In addition to George and Amal Clooney, singers Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato will be marching alongside student organizers in Washington. On Friday night, a benefit concert called Stay Amped will take place, headlined by Fall Out Boy. G-Eazy, singer Bebe Rexha and Lizzo will join, with proceedings going to Everytown for Gun Safety and Giffords Courage. Where can I grab something to eat while in D.C.? An initiative called #FoodForOurLives is offering free or discounted meals at restaurants like José Andres' Think Food Lab, Sweetgreen, Shake Shack, The Pig, The Bird, Beefsteak, Cava, Rasa, and Taco Bamba (among others) on Saturday to any students under the age of 18 with a valid ID through 5 p.m. How can I find the March for Our Lives in my city? There are 837 sibling events being held in cities around the world for the March for Our Lives on March 24, which you can search for here. Marchers are tagging their footage and messages of support for the rally with #NeverAgain. In New York City, the March for Our Lives with take place at 10:00 a.m. at Central Park West and West 72nd Street in Manhattan. In Los Angeles, celebrities including Amy Schumer, Yara Shahidi, Connie Britton, Olivia Wilde, and Skai Jackson have committed to speaking at the rally there, along with survivors from Marjory Stoneman Douglas. How can I donate to the March for Our Lives? You can donate here and encourage others to do so between now and Saturday. Funds go to bringing students to the march in D.C., among other initiatives. Donations made via GoFundMe are split between the Broward Education Foundation to support the families of victims and the injured in Parkland and the March for Our Lives Action Fund. What are other organizations I can support? To support the work of Everytown for Gun Safety, you can text ACT to 644-33 for regular updates on how you can push legislators to act. You can donate to Everytown here. You can also support the gun violence prevention measures of the Community Justice Reform Coalition and the National Black and Brown Gun Violence Prevention Consortium by donating here. End time "End times", "Eschaton", and "Last days" redirect here. For other uses of these terms, see End Times (disambiguation), Endtime (disambiguation), Eschaton (disambiguation), and Last days (disambiguation). The end time (also called end times, end of time, end of days, last days, final days, or eschaton) is a future time-period described variously in the eschatologies of several world religions (both Abrahamic and non-Abrahamic), which teach that world events will reach a final climax. The Abrahamic faiths maintain a linear cosmology, with end-time scenarios containing themes of transformation and redemption. In Judaism, the term "end of days" makes reference to the Messianic Age and includes an in-gathering of the exiled Jewish diaspora, the coming of the Messiah, the resurrection of the righteous, and the world to come. Some sects of Christianity depict the end time as a period of tribulation that precedes the second coming of Christ, who will face the Antichrist along with his power structure and usher in the Kingdom of God. In Islam, the Day of Judgement is preceded by the appearance of the al-Masih al-Dajjal, and followed by the descending of Isa (Jesus). Isa will triumph over the false messiah, or the Antichrist, which will lead to a sequence of events that will end with the sun rising from the west and the beginning of the Qiyamah (Judgment day). Non-Abrahamic faiths tend to have more cyclical world-views, with end-time eschatologies characterized by decay, redemption, and rebirth. In Hinduism, the end time occurs when Kalki, the final incarnation of Vishnu, descends atop a white horse and brings an end to the current Kali

Christian Louboutin's New Pint-Size Shoe Capsule Is Made for a Royal Baby

Christian Louboutin's New Pint-Size Shoe Capsule Is Made for a Royal Baby
Christian Louboutin gets a lot of requests from fancy moms who want their little ones to have their own red bottoms—and we’re not talking about a diaper rash. What they really want are teeny tiny versions of the shoe maestro’s most iconic designs for their wee ones to wobble around in (or sit or crawl in). After a successful collaboration on a baby shoe with Gwyneth Paltrow and Goop last year, Louboutin has decided to revisit the idea with a new capsule collection. The three pairs of booties come in two dazzling prints and one bright red silk and are available starting today at $250 each. Only 600 have been produced and will available exclusively on the Christian Louboutin website.
“I love the idea of transposing the proportions of women’s shoe detailing onto a baby shoe,” Louboutin says. “That’s how I worked on the bow pattern. I wanted to give it a Walt Disney cartoon–type look which parents, including myself, usually fall in love with.” The designer is a father to toddler twin girls and in a sense, this has been a passion project for him and an idea that he’s had for a very long time, even before the Goop partnership. It was also, as he notes, “a new challenge for our artisans to work on baby shoes, since the techniques are completely different from those you use for a men’s or women’s shoe.” He adds, “We had to work very closely on the craftsmanship but I am very happy with the result.”

Grieving Husband Fights to Raise Awareness of Growing Maternal Death Rates in the U.S.
Watch More Videos> When we think of women dying after childbirth, we usually think of women in underdeveloped countries with limited access to modern medicine. But unfortunately, despite all the medical advances that America has to offer, we are facing a crisis in terms of maternal mortality. The U.S. currently has the highest maternal mortality rates among developed countries, and the CDC reports that this number has actually been rising over the past two decades, believe it or not. Tragically, Ryan Hansen knows this reality all too well. In March of 2011, he and his high school sweetheart Tara were excitedly expecting their first child. As Ryan later shared in a YouTube video he made about the experience, Tara had a textbook healthy pregnancy, followed by a normal, healthy birth. But just a few hours after Tara and Ryan’s son Brandon was born, Tara began feeling unwell. Ryan explains that Tara was having some episodes of fainting and sensed that something was very wrong; but because she was considered healthy, her complaints were basically discredited by her medical team. “Before we left the hospital, we had asked the doctor one last time, ‘Would you check? Make sure Tara’s okay?’” recalls Ryan. “She truly, truly felt something was wrong.” Image Source: Ryan HansenThe couple soon went home with their newborn son Brandon, but Tara continued to feel unwell. She was continually told that it was normal to feel a bit “off” when you’ve just had a baby. But within 36 hours after the birth, Tara knew things just weren’t right. Ryan says she was eventually admitted back into the hospital, where she remained for two days until she tragically passed away of an undetected infection that had already spread throughout her body. “To watch the person that you love so much have to go through that — and watch her just slowly become incapacitated — is … it’s devastating,” Ryan recounts. Image Source: Ryan HansenSoon after Tara’s death, Ryan began to research maternal mortality, and was shocked to learn how frequently it happens in this country. He vowed to do something about it, in Tara’s honor. In 2012, he launched the Tara Hansen Foundation. “The thought that Tara could pass away with something associated with giving birth … it never crossed my mind,” Ryan shares in the video. “I learned about maternal mortality only because it happened to me.” In partnership with Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where his mother works as is director of communications and public affairs, Ryan has since developed the “Stop. Look. Listen!” campaign, which aims to increase awareness of maternal mortality, empower women to report any troubling pregnancy, and postpartum symptoms, and increase responsiveness among maternal healthcare providers. The “Stop. Look. Listen!” campaign prompted Ryan’s home state of New Jersey to establish January 23 as Maternal Health Awareness Day each year — the first state in the nation to have such a day. Image Source: Ryan HansenRyan tells Babble that Tara, who was always passionate about helping others and making the world a better place, would have wanted the tragedy of her death to have meaning, and to be a vehicle to save other women’s lives. “Tara was a teacher, she taught special education in the town we grew up in,” Ryan shares. “She always wanted to help those who needed it the most.” The foundation he created and the work he does on behalf of new mothers also gives Ryan himself a special way to continue to connect with Tara, and to keep her memory alive. “Right now I feel like our new moms need it the most and that is a perfect representation of who Tara was, and keeps her spirit alive,” he tells Babble. “It also gives me the ability to feel like I can still help her even though she isn’t here anymore.” No woman should lose their life bringing new life into this world. Share Quote FacebookPinterest Tara and Ryan’s story is both heartbreaking and incredibly moving all at once. After grieving deeply for several years, Ryan has since remarried, and has begun to grow his new family. His new wife Mary tragically lost her first husband to a sudden heart attack several years ago, so she understands the trauma of tragic losses like Ryan’s. Recently, the couple welcomed a son, Dylan — a little brother for Brandon. Image Source: Ryan Hansen“I wouldn’t want Brandon to grow up without a sibling,” Ryan explains in the YouTube video. “It’s kind of my chance to have the life I have always wanted.” But Tara’s memory is always right there in the foreground of his life — and Ryan has not tired of doing the work he knows that she would want him to be doing for mothers everywhere. “For me, the future is a place where patients and physicians work in tandem to ensure moms have the best possible outcome,” Ryan tells Babble. “Where women’s voices are empowered and no message goes unheard. No woman should lose their life bringing new life into this world.” Related Post Man Surprises Bride with Pre-Planned Wedding — Just Hours After Proposing The post Grieving Husband Fights to Raise Awareness of Growing Maternal Death Rates in the U.S. appeared first on Babble.
