So I am finally writing a canonverse fic where Raistlin uses a wheelchair.

I headcanon that, like me (and I do think it's really canonically likely from what I know of canon...), Raistlin cannot use a manual wheelchair, so I suppose his chair has to work on magic.

The thing is I know nothing about dnd. And I'd like to find a way for the chair to move without him actively having to move it with magic himself, because it would probably strain him?

Nimona OC - Charlotte Swiftheart/Corova

Alright, you guys remember this post?

You don't? Alright, let me summarize so that you don't have to bounce back and forth between this post and that one. So, I've been writing a full length fic for Charlotte (my Nimona OC, see original post here), taking place within the Nimona (movie) world (I may write an adaptation if I ever get my hands on that book). I really want to start posting it on Ao3 (and possibly tumblr as well?). I have a couple chapters done, but I'm unsure of how long it's going to take to write the whole thing. Most of the plot is laid out in the tumblr posts, but I'm filling in some gaps. It's not done (nor is it close to being done) yet, but I thought I'd get some tumblr opinions. I made a poll a little over a week ago.

Fun fact: I've decided that the necklace is meant to have come from Charlotte when they were teenagers. Even if she doesn't hold any romantic feelings for Char anymore, it still means a lot to her.

Question

When a writer puts quirks about Y/n like they like Star Wars, has glasses, or talks a certain way, do you see it more as the writer inserting themselves into the fanfic or just the way Y/n is? And like is this a turn off for fanfics? Because I truly don’t mind if it’s not my characteristics. Like I’m short in real life so when I’m suddenly taller than Wanda in some of these works, I don’t mind.

I want to know because I’m wanting to post a Hot Ones Interview (Wanda x Reader) AU but all the questions I create literally focus on my interests lmaooo.

Quick question, genuinely do not know the answer to it; why are some writer censoring god with g-d? It's one letter and p obvious what the word is, I don't really see the point.

To clarify before the tumblr witchhunt begins; Yes, I have a bit of religious trauma with Christianity. I identify as Pagan. No, seeing the word god does not bother me and my question is why censor only one letter instead of finding something else to type?

The train soon rolled into the station with a slight jolt and a hiss of steam as it hit the buffers. Before Watson or Henry could make a move, the woman in their compartment rose to her feet and strode towards the door. She made sure to pause in front of her travelling companions and glare down her nose as she went. 

“Sir,” she snipped, “Considering subjects you see fit to discuss with your son, and with a lady present too, I think it is no wonder that he seems quite touched. You are a disgraceful father. Disgraceful! You should be ashamed.” 

She smartly opened the compartment door and stepped onto the platform, giving it a slight slam on her way out. Watson turned to Henry ready to soothe any hurt feelings, only to find the boy was giggling. 

“You were right, she is ignorant,” he said, hopping to his feet. “Anyone with any sense could tell you are quite the best father in the world.”

Ooh you picked a good passage, I have a good story for this.

When I was about 12, my parents and I went to London and we got on the tube. There was only one seat available and my mum could tell I was tired, so she let me sit down. Cue this horrible woman deciding to berate my parents for raising me badly, because how dare I, a young healthy person, take a seat.

It's not a nice memory but also I valued how my parents handled it, they didn't talk to the woman or escalate the situation at all, the just reassured me and made sure I felt protected.

So in this scene I gave Watson a stupid train woman to deal with! Although she was able to upset Henry earlier in the story, in this passage Watson has given him the confidence to just ignore her words and not take them to heart - it probably also helps that this time the insults were directed at Watson, which makes it clearer that they're nonsense - Henry doubts himself a lot, but he knows Watson is a good father.

I also just like the comedy of this annoying Karen in a train compartment listening to a father and son discussing gruesome murder together and getting more and more outraged.

nobody warns you before the fall - 219 kudos (i was so surprised at the amount of reception this fic got, i really didn't think anyone would read it lol)

yes, i always respond, although it usually takes me awhile. i love every single person who has ever commented on my fics :)

my fic do you think i have forgotten (about you) is probably my angstiest ending. for context, the fic is about addison montgomery and derek shepherd and the breakdown of their marriage so. (the fact that i wrote a het fic is shocking even to me)

this year, to save me from tears, i'll give it to someone special is probably the most optimistic ending for one of my fics.

i haven't so far, i assume i will at some point, but for now everyone has been really positive and encouraging towards me and my writing :)

at the moment i don't write smut, but eventually maybe.

probably swan queen. they never fail to get me in the feels, something about family, and belonging, and finding a place for yourself. also enemies, to reluctant co-parents, to friends, to lovers am i right? they make me so feral (i'm so normal i swear)

my only published wip is so you were never a saint, and i loved in shades of wrong but i sincerely doubt i will ever finish that (it was meant to be a oneshot but i added another chapter and i kinda hate it so)

but because i am actually insane, (i went through my docs and counted for this) i have a grand total of 57 wips, most of which will never be finished, or compounded into other fics.

16. what are your writing strengths?

i think i'm good at characterization, i like to spend a lot of time analysing the characters, and it's very important to me that the characters feel like themselves.

17. what are your writing weaknesses?

one of my weaknesses is description. i am definitely working on it tho. in addition, the amount of time it takes for me to write anything substantial.

18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

i'm not sure, i think maybe if it was extremely necessary, but otherwise i'm not sure.

Three favourite 'Sherlock' fics (not crossovers)

That one's a bit difficult but also easy to answer because I read only three Sherlock fics so far, and the only one I read entirely is one of ours ;) I don't remember which one though... It's one you wrote in English that's sure, and it's a short one, but the title doesn't come to me right now, sorry :( but I loved it!

The two others are:

Sherlock vs The Solar System: John meets a woman who's a sort of a genius of astronomy and brings her to the 221B, where she meets Sherlock. But it turns out they knew each other when they were kids. She also knew Mycroft, and apparently there's going to be a love triangle which I dread a bit because I'm usually not a fan of love triangles.... But so far so good, I like it a lot!

Glass: here Sherlock works on a case with a medical doctor he knows for quite a long time.... It's a very nice detective story, so far Sherlock was pretty much in character which is a very good point for me, but I have still a long way to go before finishing it...

Both are Sherlock x OC fics, that's the only Sherlock fics I read because I can't see him with any canon character. I wish I had more time to read all the wonderful stories that exist :(

When you read a fanfic, you prefer the ones that directly address the reader, for example: "she takes your hand and lays a soft kiss on it". Or the ones that speak in third person (create an oc??) but don't give a description of the character, so you can feel identified anyway? Like: "she took their hand, depositing a soft kiss on it"?

When it comes to writing it, for me, the second option is much more comfortable and natural, although I don't know if anyone would be willing to read something like that? Akshdhd I'm writing this anyway because it's what keeps me sane right now, but I suppose I could upload it if anyone would be interested in it?

The fanfic is from Labyrinth, 1986. I'm delving into the backstory of Jareth's character, the Goblin city, the fae world, and obviously there's romance.
