#I understand that this is hard topic to navigate #but me saying that /they've changed Gabe and that's consequently altered the dynamic he has with Sally in way I don't like/ #is NOT me saying I don't think what they've portrayed onscreen is non-abusive #or that I WANT to see him abuse her??? #its just the guy in the show while clearly controlling and abusive (emotionally and financially so far) #...I don't believe he's the guy who's presence was so horrid and disgusting MONSTERS avoided him #I wouldn't call him /Smelly/ #in the book his abuse (all forms) is much more overt #(and just to be painstakingly clear: abuse doesn't have to be overt to be abuse) #but the guy in the show does not have the same presence as the guy in the book #book Gabe is menacing #he growls and he threatens and both Sally and Percy have developed very specific responses to deal with it #I've seen one take saying that people can't recognize the abuse in the show because its not physical (yet?) #but even disregarding the physical abuse entirely #if you compare the book scene and TV show scene of Percy arriving home and he and Sally readying for Montauk #there is a pretty stark difference in tone #and in how both Sally and Percy interact with Gabe #in the book Sally goes out of her way to avoid /provoking/ Gabe and asks Percy to do the same until they can leave for Montauk #and Gabe is just itching for any excuse to keep them home #and imo if Book Sally had said the things that show Sally did to Gabe #Gabe wouldn't have let them gone! #and again im not saying that the show's depiction is nonabusive #or unrealistic #im saying its simply /different/ than the book #and im upset that it doesn't feel like dynamic depicted the book #and no book sally is no simpering wilting flower #but she's also not what they depicted in the show either #pjo adaptation #sally jackson #pjo

Most of my comics are drawn on standard letter paper (8.5"x11"), and to date I have filled 23 pages! I usually manage to fit roughly 6-8 comics per page.

nate being the only doctor makes me wonder what he's had to do for the others before

Nate does a lot for the crew. (Also woo look at his human disguise!)

When he's not actively treating or checking on them, he's constantly working to compare studies and test data to understand how to treat his friends, seeing as they have widely different genetic makeups and could react in ways that are *catastrophically* unexpected.

He can't use human rules when working on them, which greatly complicates things when he's educated in treating humans. Sera and Vince naturally have nucleated blood cells for greater oxygen input since they're always in rigorous activity, but this is a sign of leukemia or other major deficiency in humans. How do drugs interact with their bodies? what reaction will their immune systems have? do they have an intolerance to certain chemical developments?

This is partly why Vincent underwent so much testing and experimentation- to catalogue and document an atlas for the reproduction and understanding of this hybrid Variant species, and how every facet of its anatomy works in that respect. Like a rough draft you don't care about messing up, and use only to learn from.

It's a wonder how Nathaniel was able to successfully recompile enough information to save his friends at all. It's a lot of stress on one guy with no nurses! Instead, everyone caught a harrowing and unwanted glimpse of Vincent when he landed back home after streaking in the rain. He now flies with his pants duct-taped on. And goggles. For the glare and the overwhelming surplus of bugs he slams into at twice the speed of a f1 car.

Most previous partners would request him to change into other forms. Sometimes he was even asked to turn into celebrities. #Not fun. Really not fun. He'd eventually associate his true self with something undesirable enough to be rejected over.

I’m taking a crack shot n saying I think Nightbringer might be Diavolo’s dad trying to prove a point since he didn’t expect his son to succeed as well as he did. (He has the free time)

I have no evidence other than they’ve mentioned Nightbringer was the first king of the Devildom multiple times n while his dad isn’t the first king that’s just the right amount of obscure history one could masquerade behind without to many ppl connecting the dots. (So obscure n yet mentioned it trice???)

Also they’ve subtly mentioned this mystery man on way more occasion’s than feels needed for someone not involved with the plot at all beyond lore. I wouldn’t shit my pants about it but we might even see him for a bit. Even if only in passing the way Micheal often is in OG- added in from time to time but never directly seen. I understand why people love warmer water beaches, they're gorgeous. Beautiful.

But as a person who was raised near a northern pacific coast, can confirm that nothing will ever compare to the feeling of walking in the surf of an ocean with water so cold it numbs your skin and burns your bones, the wind snatching at your clothes with icy fingers, silver overcast sky as far as the eye can see

something about sand that's smooth and chilly on your feet, and half-hidden shards of seashell, and an ocean that you know could drag you under at will

something about cliffs and rocks emerging from the mist at night, and the roar of waves, and the occasional seal that pops up between swells, the sea foam and shiny black mussels clinging to tide-beaten rocks

Idk there's something very special about beaches that are cold for a majority of the year and tbh I'd take one of those any day.

I am. deeply hoping to manifest this energy of "everything's quiet, surrounded by boxes, it's all okay" because I know it'll take time to get the furniture shipped and sorted out. and desperately desperately all I want is to be able to feel comfortable and safe in the new space while that is all coming together.

byan in their fledgling verse being more depressed than ever because they feel even more abandoned now than they did in life. byan being angrier than ever because somehow, their life has become even more unfair and they feel like a stupid, worthless kid again, left to fend for themself and figure everything out on their own. again.

this manifesting some days in low energy and them struggling to bother leaving whatever hole in the wall they've crawled into, often sleeping through most if not the entire night. a suicidal urge to step out into the sunlight, but they're physically incapable of bringing themself to do it, to put themself out of their misery. a temptation to let themself get hit by a car just to fucking feel something. hunting around bars and clubs in order to feed on those who are drunk or high so they don't have to spend the night sober.

other times, it manifesting in increased volatility and destruction. they're faster to snap or resort to violence than ever before, many nights spent breaking things, destroying property, and beating anyone who gets in their way. the fights they get into for "fun" are more brutal, get taken farther than they ever used to, sometimes resulting in someone dead at their hands accidentally, still not knowing their new strength and thus not having proper control over it. being more prone to frenzy, but it being as easily triggered by desperate rage as by hunger.

byan being a fucking mess, isolated and furious and not knowing what to fucking do, and concealing this as best they can from the few people they have in their life.

#and they do such a good job of hiding it most of the time. a lifetime of practice has prepared them for this. #or... they do a good job of hiding it until they don't. inevitably someone around them will see how fucked up they are. #it's only a matter of time (': #idk man I woke up with a lot of fledgling verse feelings. #it's been two months since my mom was hospitalised and #i don't think i've had that much stress ever in my life before #rough times sure #but there's something really off about having #to take care of all her stuff on top of my stuff #while watching doctor after doctor misdiagnose her #treat her for the wrong thing for two weeks #then wheel her into heart surgery as soon as they diagnose the right thing but WAIT #she needs another heart surgery #but WAIT #the misdiagnosis wasn't that far off after all so let's treat her lung too #and before you know it a month has passed and she's taken to a physical rehab clinic #and staying in there for another month #while her insurer is already delivering oxygen tanks to our home because she might need them #and sending us disability forms to fill out #meanwhile the doctor at her rehab clinic is convinced that if she just attends the entirety of her programs she might not #need oxygen at all because her lung apparently looks healthy and he doesn't think that diagnosis is accurate after all #ONLY by this time my mom is deeply depressed not eating and not attending her program's courses at all #and everyone's her enemy and she's gonna leave the clinic right now right NOW #she's released tomorrow #a week before her actual release date #because she made such a ruckus they finally allowed her to leave the clinic early #and i just wish she'd at least put an effort in #from day one she refused to give that rehab clinic a chance #every now and then a doctor or a nurse made a little breakthrough and she agreed to try #attended maybe two or three fitness programs #then gave up again #i'm convinced the doctor at her rehab clinic is right and her lung disease is a misdiagnosis after all but we'll never find out since she #refuses to exercise her lungs at all #and after all the effort we put in to make sure she recovers well i'm just exhausted and disappointed in that
