Every now and then when he watches the sun slowly sink beyond horizon, he catches glimpses of a far-flung memory. A past life where he is not D'nyr, but Polydeuces, where he is whole and happy and surrounded by many friends… He is taller too (though not by much; he still appears shorter than most of his colleagues!), with slightly longer and more tousled hair, his fringe pinned back on one side by a silver circlet-- it seems he is forever destined to have one eye left beset by hair-- and when the light hits, his face appears almost softer without his signature X-shaped scar. Part of the Convocation of Fourteen, his title was Theidos* the Recordkeeper and his role was to maintain and safeguard mankind's accumulated wisdom, an accolade which paired well with his main vocation as the Chief Archivist of Anamnesis Anyder. During the early stages of the Final Days, he sought assistance from colleagues like The Watcher (as well as from Hythlodaeus, Chief of the Bureau of the Architect) to develop a mobile version of Anamnesis which could be used as a fortress and sanctuary both, one that could protect the treasures and knowledge of the current age and carry them on safely into the future; a concept he dubbed "Alexander". As time grew short he would entrust his position to his senior-most advisor and step down in order to fully pursue these plans, however the advent of Zodiark and the schism that ensued upon its summoning threw a spanner in the works, and not just for the loss of a friend and collaborator-- although not a part of it, he was of course well aware of Venat's group due to his ties to Anamnesis Anyder, and in agreement with their views he cast aside his title of Theidos. In response to this, his Convocation-related belongings were seized with the drafts along with them and, left powerless in the wake of cataclysm, he fled… (These designs were later repurposed by the Ascians for their own ends in ushering in the Rejoining, and fragments would find their way to others through mysterious means, inspiring the actualisation of Alexander and everything that entailed!)

*from the Greek thymámai (to memorize) + eîdos (form); my WoL's lore has no Azem as I drafted this all at the time of base-ShB expac release when we knew close to nothing about the Ancients, and I haven't got an interest in retconning it to fit :')

I have had this all half-written for 5 years so it was good to- #-go through and make it make sense with what we know now (except azem. I have no contingency for that. shoo)

As much as I want to see elongated twins (as a post I read once called it) and really actually kinda hate the time bubble I do love when the narrative remembers Alphi and Ali are 16. Ali rushing to have playful contests with the WoL. Sibling teasing and banter (and love and support) Like they play act adults well when they gotta and they've chosen to be here! They're kids but every step they've taken around us has been their choice and they don't regret it.

But if Alisaie realizes she can make a contest with the WoL she is suddenly and irrovacbly Sixteen and I love her.

Good amount of grinding today, and a little bit of story besides!

Red Mage to 68, Gunbreaker to 79, the first of the Shadowbringers’ Alliance Raids run (was a bit difficult but we pulled through!)...and I’ve unlocked the start of the Weapon questline. Not to mention, I know there are Ascian shenanigans afoot here in 5.2 now, and I’m looking forward to beating his face in.

Even if he’s wearing a body that’s not his true face.

My wife’s understanding of FFXIV (up to 5.2) from hearing me talk about it:

- I hang out with a pair of twins, Alpharad and Alizé

- There’s some character that’s a meme on my “Such caffeination” mug

- Even thought I main a healer, I had to watch an NPC die in my arms while my character did nothing. And there are things called Phoenix Down, but she guesses no one had one on them?

- Alpha the chocobo is a good boy

- I have a tiny pet shark

- She had instructed me to collect every iteration of the Great Serpent

- I got haunted by a ghost named Aardvark

- There’s a catboy voiced by one of her favorite actors. He is also a good boy.

Fandoms I'm in right now:

FFXIV: I started playing during Shadowbringer, on 5.2 and it hit me very hard, favourite MMO since I finished MSQ.

Digimon: I tend to go in spurts, I'm so into the content, characters and lore that I might not see anything for months. But it will always have a special place in my heart.

Dragon Age: I started playing origins on the PS3 around 2012 and have played all three installments and I'm curious what Dreadwolf will bring (I hope making an attractive male qunari will be easier).

Arknights: I started playing two years ago, I quit and a friend convinced me to give it a try, it's a good game to fill in the idle hours and it has handsome guys.

Fate Grand Order: I literally log in and log out of the game. I'm mainly looking at the designs of the male characters. And the story interests me at times.

Obey Me!: A bit of the same as the previous one, I watch the chats, see my favourites (Satan, Diavolo, Lucifer, Simeon and Beel) and leave.

- I play Z'sasa Zhwan on twintania (my main). Bramivir Boomstick on Famfrit (an alt). And Khatah Borlaaq on Malboro (rarely played alt still in ARR)

-I've played this game since around 5.2. Been raiding since 5.4. Consider myself an endgame player

- Outside of these I like star wars, pokemon, Nightwing and other bits of popular media. Used to play a lot of d2 but basically fell off the bicycle there.

- if you've ever any questions just ask me! I think I've anon turned on if you're shy (also if youre ever curious about endgame, EXs or savage just ask me I'm always happy to get people started there)
