The stretchyness of wool never ceases to amaze me.
It started like this (in February):

Eventually became this blobby thing:

And then i added water + tension.... And voilà!

These bright colours were all SO cute to work with, and the lollipop swirl design is one of my favourites I’ve made :D It’s SO chunky and cosy thanks to all the floats on the inside. The harlequin diamond design is definitely something I’ll use again, too
‘Retro Sour’ and ‘Crayon Sun’ have ben sold, but the rest are still for sale on my etsy store - 20% off until Christmas Day!!

What's this? It's actually the underlayer of Dubh! 😯 All of our Dathanna colorways have undertone layers, giving them their characteristic subtle variations. While you won't see these colors quite like this in the finished yarn, they add character and depth to the more obvious overtones.

I made myself a supported spindle!
Tumblr media
Rambling under cut bc boy do i have a lot to say!
Ok first things first i didnt cut myself but i did manage to get a huge blister almost instantaneously lol
So. This spindle is a very first draft kinda spindle- i bought a cheapish knife & didnt know i needed a strop so i didn't sharpen it at all while carving
Another challenge was that this wood (some sort of evergreen idk plants) all has a stripe of really hard wood (the brown is v hard, the white is soft) so it was hard to get it even
The main reason i finished it so impatiently is bc i did some fiber prep this morning (feauxlags & staple lengths for spinning from the fold) and i am just so desperate to start spinning lol.
I followed this blog post to know what to do (via @milkweedman 's pinned post) & just did what i wanted for the shape. I have a bunch more decent sticks ready to go so im gonna go for a kit that a whittling yt channel recommended bc it should have a decent knife(s) as well as a strop
I rinsed the sanding dust off it so its drying off as i type. Then i can oil it & start figuring out how to spin with a goofy, very bandaged thumb

plan for my next knit:)
i dont like how hats look on me, so i considered knitting a balaclava, but i think it'd make me look like a medieval thumb. hoping a bonnet will work as a nice compromise that will keep me warm. now onto finding a pattern or figuring out how to draft one myself!

I loved the fruity granny square bags I made as gifts so much that I had to make one for myself! I stuck to just oranges this time and I love the way it came out :D
Thanks to my dad for taking artsy photos, haha!
Pattern: Orange Granny Squares from Raffmusa's Tutti Frutti Granny Square series, top half and strap from ‘Super Easy DIY Crochet Bag’ by August Craft & Crochet!
Yarn: Various stash DK - orange colours are Stylecraft Special DK in (I think) Clementine and Spice, and the dark green top half is some lovely Schoppel Relinkt in Olive!! Worked amazing for this project.

Well, on Day 2 of Tour de Fleece, I've hit the point where I can't add anymore to this spindle. The fleece behind it is all I have left from the roving bundle I started with. Time to start a new spindle! (a bigger one, this time! lol And yes, I unwound one or two to have them on hand for this very reason!)
Side note: May have figured out the issue with the e-spinner. Not the oil, sadly, but the foot pedal. Ordered a new one and hopefully will be here by next weekend. I hope that fixes things because if it doesn't, I'm out a very pricey spinner...
