Idk if anyone else has thought of this but in the first season when Quentin and Julia are in past fillory and help Jane Chatwin escape the trap as the "witch and the fool". Is that before or after Jane gets the key from the "Old man" (mosaic Quentin)? because if that is before than there is an overlap with two different Quentins from two different timelines in one place.
I Iowkey need a fic of season 1 Quentin and Julia stumbling onto the mosaic and finding old Quentin and Elliot.

Magicians fic fact help requested
Hi, everyone! This is a fact I need for a Queliot fic I'm writing. I'm looking for something very specific: the time when Eliot is complaining that Fillory doesn't understand the concept of democracy, because he asked everyone to choose a representative and one province selected a sword. I need to find the actual reference. Does anyone recall which episode this is? Thanks!

look the seven keys storyline is very epic in the show and it’s all very righteous and I’d die for Fen and I’m glad they’ve been called to this quest or whatever but it fully loses the essence of what makes the storyline so, so, good in the books.
King Quentin was bored because Fillory was so good and incredible and productive that it was.. boring. So he threw a tournament. And he fixed up a fancy ship. And he made up a quest to entertain himself but honestly it was about collecting taxes which is not that fascinating but whatever he’s restless and beggars can’t be choosers. And then! Right as things are getting interesting, right as he finally has everything he ever wanted—he accidentally sends himself back to Earth.
The books are about finding perfection, the desire of your hearts, the thing you’ve always yearned for, and then realizing it won’t solve all of your problems. The books are about depression and adulthood and mismanaged expectations.
The show is entertainment.

Eliot revealing that the source of magic is pain was the moment I knew The Magicians wasn’t going to be like other fantasy stories I’d experienced before.
Chris and I discuss this compelling idea and many other elements that are very unique to this series in our new watch-along podcast.

What do you think about magic coming from pain and not talent?

Ugh. Just got to the recap episode for P23. God, I can't stand him. He's such a creepy stalkery guy towards Julia40. And has zero empathy (or sympathy) for Kady. 🤢

Graphic Title: Chanukah in Fillory
Artist name: The Rhincodon Collective
Fandom: The Magicians
Jewish Characters: Eliot Waugh and Quentin Coldwater
Bingo Squares: Nes Gadol Haya Sham, Dreidel
Rating: General
Warnings: None
Link to Work: N/A
Extra Notes: Eliot is about as canonically Jewish as you can get without stating it (the actor is Jewish and in the book he censors G-d in a letter), and I headcanon Quentin as somewhere in the conversion process. I just wanted them to have some happy Chanukah times, even though the Fillorian calendar doesn’t quite map onto Earth’s. I imagine them trying to figure out when to celebrate it and then going “fuck it, there’s no way we can do the math. We can just do Chanukah whenever we want.” @aimmyarrowshigh

Wish I could travel to the library, read my book, and make my choices from there. Maybe just travel to Fillory instead 😓
