Found something tucked away in a nature preserve in beverly Massachusetts. This is the remains of the high over estate which was erected in the early 1900s but as of October 1968 it burned down. This is all that remains along with the front gate (not pictured) this is the Maine fountain for the gardens as well as the gazebo type building for relaxing next to it.

I've started messing around with watercolors. Nothing crazy yet, just Crayola. But it's fun, and easy. This one's not finished yet, but I like how its turning out.

Sometime Past Six
I reworked this original painting digitally to turn up the graininess a few notches, which gives it an Impressionistic look. The glaring sun suggests a warm summer day coming to an end.

In front of my building is a row of really lovely old trees. The past couple of days, I was very delighted to see those trees changing into fall colours. These trees really cheer me up every day. Today, there are a bunch of workers from the city cutting the trees down. The city apparently wants to remodel the space in front of the building, and they plan planting some new trees at the end of next year. I am actually in tears because it makes me so angry. Those new trees will be tiny baby trees, it will take ages until they are as tall as the beautiful trees that are currently standing there. It will also of course take ages until those new trees will be able to absorb the same amount of CO2, will be able to spend the same shade and will be able to be home to as many animals als it is currently the case. It makes me absolutely sick and I hate it.

Chicago, Aurora and Elgin Interurban Car #458... and I tell the sad story of how CA&E service ended on a July day in 1957.

I recently heard about a 400-year-old tree in a nearby village, which made me want to estimate the age of the big lime tree behind my house. I measured the circumference at my height then divided by Pi to get the diametre then multiplied by the growth factor for this species—and I learnt that my lime tree is about 255-260 years-old! It was born in the 1760s... I also went and measured some of my beech trees and the oldest ones are ~190 years-old, which makes sense as it’s the age of the house. I’m not sure why this lime tree is so much older than all the other trees on this land, but it makes me want to give it a little plaque, maybe one that says “I was 25 years-old during the French revolution.”
