Frappe

Sirius read the directions twice. He knew what Effie would say if she was here. "Sometimes doing it without magic yields a better bake."

Ok. He could do this.

He mixed the wet ingredients and the dry, and put them together in the mixer. Turning it on, he let it mix for a minute. It didn't seem to be working. He turned it up past medium to high to frappe.

The batter sprayed out of the bowl all over the kitchen. He hurriedly grabbed his wand and stopped the mixer with a freezing charm.

Just what he needed.

Sighing, he finished the batter that he was able to salvage and put it into the oven. Then he started cleaning up.

He heard a low chuckle in the doorway. Turning around, he saw Remus leaning against the door jamb, watching him with mirth dancing in his eyes.

"What happened to you?"

"The mixer has it in for me, Moony."

"Oh?" Remus said, coming all the way into the kitchen.

"I was trying to bake dessert for us and…" Sirius gestured at the mess. His shoulders slumped in defeat.

Remus pulled him close. "It's alright, darling," he said. Sirius gave him a skeptical look but Remus just smiled softly at him. He kissed Sirius's cheek, licking some batter off in the process. "C'mon, I'll help clean up."

Frappe

They came down from the Palatine hill as the sun was setting, holding hands and feeling a sleepy sense of peace in the heat. Sirius caught sight of a ginger cat, one of the many strays which roamed the city, that looked inordinately like Crookshanks, and he tugged Remus through the winding streets until they had caught up, and Italian Crookshanks had allowed Sirius to pet him.

They had ended up outside a little cafe, which had a green shade pulled over the tables and chairs, and looked gloomy and cool… a refreshing relief after a day in the sun. ‘Shall we get a drink?’ Remus asked. 

Sirius looked at the menu board:

Espresso 

Cappuccino

Caffe Latte

Frappe

Macchiato

Mochaccino

He sighed. ‘Why does nowhere foreign ever just do a decent cup of tea?’ 

Remus squeezed his hand fondly, and gave him a kiss - he tasted of sunshine and strawberries. ‘You are such a barbarian, Padfoot,’ he said, smiling.
